The 2016 Honda Pilot Elite has an auto idle stop (AIS). Three times in the last six months my Pilot has stalled when at a stop and not automatically restarted when the foot was taken off the brake. It then took 5-6 tries to have the car restart. Twice it happened at stop signs with traffic behind me and once in rush hour traffic in Dallas when stopped for traffic backup. Mine does not seem to be an isolated problem since I have read numerous accounts of similar problems online. Dealer said did not have a fix for problem.
My vehicle shut down while driving with error messages on screen: emissions transmission, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, trailer stability, assist, power steering, road departure,collision mitigation, blind spot, transmission, battery light, oil light. Coasted into safe place and had towed. Could not turn car back on other than seeing the above warnings.
Won't start after idle stop, and i have reported to Honda Dealer Elcrrito service center they updated systems last three months back again its same issue and have now had this problem 4 times in the past 4-5 months while we stopped at a light, the idle stop will engage and shut off the engine, but then it won't start without completely turn off for a couple of minutes, this serious safety issue if this will happen the same issue at freeway then we don't know what to do.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. A COMPLAINT WAS SUBMITTED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,100.
Auto Idle stop. twice my car has shut of when auto idle was engaged. Traveling at speed have to stop to merge or at red light auto idle will engaged. Car shut off when the brake was released followed by a warning display in the speedometer screen to put car in park and and restart. Those are the facts now for the issue. I was traveling on I35 in Texas merged onto 190. Had to momentarily stop to merge. I let off brake and the car died. Cars where coming up on me fast. I was able to engage hazard flashers and restart car. Second time I was at red light released brake and car died. Followed same procedure and got car restarted. This has happened twice in last two weeks My car is now in the shop . When researching on line this seems to be a common problem.
AUTO RESTART HAS TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF AT A STOPLIGHT AND THEN NOT RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND PUT THE DRIVETRAIN INTO NEUTRAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES NOW. ALSO THE CAR SHIFTS INTO GEARS THAT EITHER SLOW MY CAR UP WHEN IM TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND SPEEDING MY VEHICLE UP WHEN BRAKING.
MY CAR WAS "STALL OUT" AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN WHEN I WAS IN "AUTO IDLE-STOP" AND PRESSED ON THE GAS. I FIRST NOTICED THAT THE AUTO IDLE-STOP WAS HESITATING WHEN IT WOULD START UP. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE RADIO WOULD "CUT OUT". AFTER THAT, THE VEHICLE WOULD JUST STALL OUT AND I WOULD HAVE TO PUSH PARK, PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THEN PUSH START. THIS IS VERY INCONVENIENT WHEN YOU ARE AT A STOP LIGHT OR GETTING READY TO MAKE A TURN AND THE VEHICLE JUST "DIES". TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS A SOFTWARE ADJUSTMENT. THE AUTO IDLE-STOP WORKED FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS, THEN STARTED HESITATING AND NOW IT INTERMITTENTLY STALLS WHEN THE GAS IS PRESSED.
THE ENGINE AUTO/STOP FEATURE HAD FAILED 3 TIMES IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THE FEATURE TURNS OFF THE ENGINE WHEN STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AND DOES NOT TURN BACK ON AND DISENGAGES THE CAR.
THE "AUTO IDLE-STOP" IS AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED ON THIS VEHICLE. WHENEVER IT IS "ON" THE CAR WILL STALL AND SHUT DOWN WHEN STOPPING IN TRAFFIC OR AT LIGHTS. HAVE BROUGHT TO HONDA, THEY SAY IT CANNOT BE FIXED AND ITS VERY DANGEROUS.
THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTO SHUT OFF AND RESTART FEATURE. THERE ARE MANY INSTANCES WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF AT A STOPLIGHT OR IN A PARKING LOT AND THEN DOES NOT RESTART AUTOMATICALLY AS IT SHOULD. THE VEHICLE MUST BE POWERED OFF AND ON MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WILL RESTART. THERE SEEMS TO BE A FAULTY SENSOR OR SOME THING. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP HAS PROVIDED NO EXPLANATION EXCEPT IT'S A BATTERY ISSUE WHICH IT IS NOT CONNECTED AS WE HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY. I AM CONCERNED THAT WHEN I AM IN TRAFFIC AT A STOPLIGHT IF I HAVE FORGOTTEN TO PRESS THE BUTTON TO DISENGAGE THE AUTO RESTART THEN I'LL BE STRANDED WHILE TRYING TO RESTART THE CAR. IT HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT THE LAST 18 MONTHS.
RECURRING PROBLEM WITH IDLE STOP FEATURE CAUSING CAR ENGINE TO SHUT OFF COMPLETELY (EVEN WHEN DISABLED), RESULTING IN AN ERROR MESSAGE AND REQUIRING THE CAR TO BE TURNED OFF AND ON. AUTO SHUT OFF WHEN STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT WILL NOT RESTART ENGINE. HAD ORANGE RED LIGHT ON DASH SAYING YOU MUST PUT IN PARK AND PRESS BREAK TO AND PRESS START AGAIN. ALSO RADIO WENT OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS ALSO. IT ALSO HAS BEEN HESITANT TO ACCELERATE AFTER AUTO SHUT OFF STARTS ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES JUST IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING, QUICKLY FOLLOWED BY A FLASHING OIL LIGHT. PULL OVER AND TURN VEHICLE OFF. CHECK OIL AND THERE WAS PLENTY. AT THIS POINT, THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OVER. HAD IT TOWED TO THE MECHANIC. THEY MANUALLY GOT THE CAR TO START BUT THE ENGINE IS KNOCKING AND THERE IS ZERO OIL PRESSURE. ENGINE IS NOW NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS 105K MILES ON IT. RECENTLY HAD THE WATER PUMP AND TIMING BELT REPLACED AT 103K MILES. REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE HAVE BEEN COMPLETED SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED.
CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER GOING INTO AUTO IDLE STOP.CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL BY ITSELF.HAD TO PUT IN PARK AND IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BEFORE CAR WOULD START.
WHILE CHANGING LANES (CAR IN MOTION 65 MPH) IN THE CITY, WARNING LIGHTS IN THE INSTRUMENT CLASTER STARTED TO APPEAR. ENGINE LOST POWER ( COULD NOT ACCELERATE) HAD TO CHANGE LANES IN TRAFFIC ALMOST GOT HIT BY SEMI TRUCKS. MANAGED TO DRIFT TO SIDE OF THE ROAD, CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL AND COULD NOT GET INTO PARK. USED PARKING BREAK TO KEEP CAR FROM ROLLING. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINALLY MADE UP ITS MIND AND SETTLED ON EMISSIONS ERROR. BEFORE THAT IN WAS SHOWING ALL SORTS OF ERRORS. TURNED OFF THE CAR WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. VERY SCARY WITH KIDS IN CAR.
HONDA 2016 TOURING SHUT OFF WHEN STOPPING AT TRAFFIC LIGHT OR INTERSECTION, IT DOES NOT AUTO RESTART FROM IDLING-STOP MODE. IT HAPPENED TO MYSELF W/ MY CHILD IN MY CAR & THEN MY SPOUSE DRIVING MY CAR ALONE. HOWEVER THE SAME PROBLEM IS KNOWN TO HONDA BUT UNTIL SOMEONE IS KILLED, THEY ARE REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE, THE CAMSHAFT SHUTTING OFF ALL CONTROLS WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY IS COMPLETELY DANGEROUS. AS AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER, I WAS ABLE TO AVOID A COLLUSION ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY SURROUNDED BY TRACTOR TRAILERS GOING 65MPH. ALTHOUGH THE HONDA DEALER HAS REPLACED THE CAMSHAFT TWICE ON MY 2016 HONDA PILOT WITH LESS THAN 46,000, I AM FEARFUL THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. WE ARE LEFT WITH A BALANCE TO PAY OFF, THE SAFETY OF OUR FAMILY WHILE DRIVING THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE AND JUST CUT OUT LOSSES. TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK MY HONDA PILOT HAS SHUT OFF WHEN AUTO-IDLING AT A STOP LIGHT. THE CAR SHOULD REMAIN IN DRIVE BUT WHEN I LOOKED DOWN IT HAD SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL. THE FIRST MESSAGE ON THE DASH BRIEFLY FLASHED 'CRASH MITIGATION PROBLEM' AND THEN INSTRUCTED ME TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND PUSH THE ENGINE START BUTTON. AFTER THIS INCIDENT, I TURNED OFF THE CRASH MITIGATION SYSTEM. A COUPLE DAYS LATER (TODAY), THE SAME THING HAPPENED. NO CRASH MITIGATION SYSTEM FLASH BUT INSTRUCTIONS TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND PRESS THEN ENGINE START BUTTON. BOTH TIMES THE ENGINE WAS ON AND IN DRIVE. AUTO IDLING WAS ENABLED. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS CAR FOR TWO MONTHS.

WHEN DRIVING A WARNING CAME UP THAT I HAVE AN EMISSIONS PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON. JUST HAD OIL CHANGED AND JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR 6 MONTHS AGO.
THREE TIMES THE CAR HAS STALLED AND SHUT DOWN AFTER STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT ON A BUSY CITY STREET WHILE THE AUTO IDLE FEATURE WAS ON. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN AND YOUR FOOT COMES OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR SHUTS OFF AND PUTS ITSELF IN PARK. THE CAR WILL NOT START AND EACH TIME WE TRIED TO START IT ALL THE DIFFERENT WARNING MESSAGES CYCLE THROUGH ON THE DASH SUCH AS HILL START ASSIST, TRAILER STABILITY ASSIST, ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION ETC. THE FIRST TIME THE CAR FINALLY STARTED. THE SECOND TIME IT WOULD NOT START AND A TOW TRUCK HAD TO BE CALLED. SINCE THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO NEUTRAL THE CAR HAD TO BE DRAGGED ONTO THE FLATBED TOW TRUCK. THE THIRD TIME THE BATTERY WAS JUMPED AND THE CAR FINALLY STARTED. THE BATTERY HAS BEEN TEST EACH TIME AND IT IS FINE. THIS HAS CAUSED...
KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM WARNING APPEARS ON THE SCREEN.
WE HAVE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH OUR AUTO-IDLE FEATURE MALFUNCTIONING THAT BEGAN AT ABOUT 20,000 MILES. I HAVE WRITTEN A COMPLAINT HERE BEFORE, AS HAVE MANY OTHER 2016 PILOT OWNERS, HOWEVER NOTHING APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN DONE TO DATE. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY FEATURE WHEN THE AUTO-IDLE IS ENGAGED, FOOT IS TAKEN OFF THE BRAKE AND THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF, OFTEN TIMES NOT STARTING BACK UP WITHOUT A JUMP START. THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF, WARNING LIGHTS FLASH ALL OVER THE DASH AND NO MATTER WHAT YOU TRY THE CAR WILL NOT START BACK UP.THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY WIFE WITH OUR 2 DAUGHTERS NUMEROUS TIMES. THE AUTO SHUT OFF FEATURE TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AT A RED LIGHT - AND WOULD NOT TURN THE CAR BACK ON ONCE THE BRAKE WAS RELEASED. WE NEEDED TO JUMP THE PILOT TO GET IT TO TURN OVER AGAIN. AS THIS HAPPENED AT AN INTERSECTION ON A STATE HIGHWAY, WE WERE VERY LUCKY TO NOT BE REAR-ENDED! VERY UNSAFE AND THE MECHANIC SAID THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BATTERY!!
PROBLEM WITH THE AUTO STOP/START FEATURE- THE ENGINE STOPS BUT DOESN'T ALWAYS START . IT TRIES TO START BUT DOESN'T. PRESSING THE START BUTTON (IGNITION) DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK RIGHT AWAY. SEAMS YOU HAVE TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK, AND PRESS THE START BUTTON (SOMETIMES 4-5 TIMES) BEFORE THE ENGINE STARTS. THIS IS NERVE RACKING AND DANGEROUS WHEN YOU ARE IN TRAFFIC- SAY AT A LIGHT, OR TRYING TO CROSS OVER ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE TIME IS TAKES SOMETIMES TO RE-START THE ENGINE IS ABOUT 10-15 SECONDS. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. (DOESN'T ALWAYS HAPPEN). IT'S NOT THE BATTERY. I HAD A NEW BATTERY REPLACEMENT. I ALSO TRIED USING A TRICKLE CHARGER TO "TOP OFF" THE BATTERY INCASE IT WASN'T FULLY CHARGED. NO LUCK.
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND MY ENGINE TURNED OFF FROM THE IDLE/STOP FEATURE. HOWEVER, WHEN I RELEASED THE BRAKES THIS TIME, THE CAR DID NOT TURN ON AS IT NORMALLY DOES. INSTEAD, THE WHOLE VEHICLE TURNED OFF AND IT TOOK ME SEVERAL TRIES TO TURN THE VEHICLE BACK ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY WIFE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I REPLACED THE CAR BATTERY AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN A MONTH AFTER. MY PILOT WOULD NOT TURN ON AGAIN AFTER RELEASING THE BRAKES.
CAR IS PARKED IN MY GARAGE. CAR WILL NOT START. REMOTE KEYLESS START ERROR. CALLED THE HONDA DEALER. THEY SAID TO HAVE IT TOWED IN. WAITING ON THE TOW TRUCK RIGHT NOW.
THERE ARE TWO MAJOR PROBLEMS, BUT THE DANGEROUS ONE IS THE AUTO-IDLE DOESN'T ALWAYS ALLOW THE CAR TO RESTART. WHEN I GO INTO IDLE AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT AND I START TO ACCELERAT, ALL OF THE LIGHTS INSIDE SHUT OFF AND THE CAR STALLS AFTER A FOOT OR TWO. SO FAR IT HAS ALWAYS MANAGED TO RESTART ITSELF, BUT I'VE STARTED TURNING IT OFF WHENEVER I GET INTO THE CAR BECAUSE THIS IS DANGEROUS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS AND IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE (IT PROBABLY STARTED A YEAR AGO). AT THE SAME TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, I GOT A "KEYLESS IGNITION PROBLEM" WARNING LIGHT. THE WALK AWAY LOCK FEATURE DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE. I'VE READ NUMEROUS REPORTS THAT SAY FIXING THE KEYLESS SWITCH DOESN'T HELP WITH THE AUTO IDLE AND THERE'S NO SPECIFIC ERROR CODE FOR ISSUES WITH THE AUTO IDLE SYSTEM.
THE AUTOMATIC START SYSTEM TURNS THE CAR OFF AND ON WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN FOR EXAMPLE. THE FEATURE SOMETIMES WITHOUT ANY WARNING FAILS TO RESTART THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY. THE DRIVER MUST PUT THE CAR IN PARK, PUSH DOWN ON THE BRAKE, RESTART THE CAR AND THEN SHIFT INTO PARK TAKING A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR SO MANY REASONS AND IT MUST MANUALLY BE TURNED OFF BECAUSE IT DEFAULTS TO ON. WITH NO WARNING YOUR CAR COULD BE TURNED OFF AND NOT AUTOMATICALLY START WHEN IT'S SUPPOSED TO. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES STOPPED AT RED LIGHT, STOP SIGNS AND IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I WOULD LIKE TO EITHER HAVE A WARNING IN PLACE OR BE ABLE TO PERMANENTLY DISABLE THIS DANGEROUS FEATURE.
THE CAR STALLS OUT AT TIMES WHEN STOPPED. THE GEAR SWITCHES TO NEUTRAL. WHEN I CHANGE IT TO PARK THEN I GET A MESSAGE THAT I NEED TO START ENGINE BUT THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. I AM NOT ABLE TO STOP IT EITHER BY PRESSING BREAK AND THE STOP/START BUTTON. I TRIED IT MULTIPLE TIMES AND FINALLY IT STOPPED AND THEN I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AND DRIVE AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED TO MY DAUGHTER WHILE SHE WAS ON AN ON RAMP TO A HIGHWAY SO THIS BEHAVIOR US NOT ONLY INCONVENIENT BUT VERY DANGEROUS. WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY SAID THAT SINCE NO ERROR CODE SHOWS UP THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING. THEY CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION FLUIDS AND THE DAY AFTER I PICKED UP THE CAR THE SAME THING HAPPENED.
WE HAVE A 2016 HONDA PILOT TOURING. SINCE EARLY 2018 WE HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE IDLE STOP SYSTEM. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN WE ARE DRIVING AND WE COME TO STOP IN TRAFFIC AT A LIGHT, THE IDLE STOP SYSTEM ENGAGES AND SHUTS THE ENGINE DOWN, LIKE IT IS SUPPOSE TO DO. ONCE THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN FOR TRAFFIC TO MOVE, I RELEASE THE BRAKE AND THE IDLE STOP SYSTEM TRIES TO ENGAGE AND TURN THE ENGINE ON AGAIN, BUT FAILS AND SHUTS THE WHOLE VEHICLE DOWN, INOPERABLE. THE LIGHTS FLASH AND I CANNOT TURN THE CAR ON AGAIN FOR AT LEAST 1 TO 2 MINUTES. VEHICLES ARE HONKING AND TRAFFIC IS BLARING ACROSS US, BUT I CANNOT TURN THE VEHICLE BACK ON. AFTER 2 MINUTES, I CAN RESTART THE VEHICLE BY PUSHING THE BUTTON AND BRAKE AND THEN THE VEHICLE MOVES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, SINCE YOU...
MY CAR DIED ON ME AT A STOP SIGN WITH THE IDLE START/STOP FEATURE WITH 50K MILES ON IT ON 12/3/2019. (ONE WEEK PRIOR, THE 'EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM' POPPED UP.) I CAME TO A STOP AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. THE IDLE START/STOP KICKED IN. WHEN I WENT TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO HIT THE GAS, MY PILOT COMPLETELY DIED ON ME. IT WOULDN'T RESTART. HONDA PILOT AWD 2016 HAS RPM VARIATION / HESITATION DURING NORMAL DRIVING FROM REV RANGE 1500 TO 2500RPM. IT IS A CONTINUAL HESITATION OR SPLUTTERING OF REVS. IF ACCELERARTING EXTREMELY HARD IT IS NOT AS EVIDENT BUT IS ALWAYS THERE. APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE, CAR HAS NO OTHER ISSUES, SERVICED PROFESSIONALLY AS NEEDED/SCHEDULED. HORRIBLE COMFORT/ SAFETY ISSUE - NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED HAS 75K MILES, HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR LAST 10K DOESNT SEEM TO DO IT UNDER NO LOAD (NEUTRAL) BUT ALWAYS UNDER NORMAL DRIVING. ECO MODE ON OR OFF DOESNT MATTER - NO DIFFERENCE
MY CAR WILL DIE AFTER BEING STOPPED (EX. AT A RED LIGHT, STOP SIGN) AND WILL NOT RESTART RIGHT AWAY. SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T DIE COMPLETELY. WHEN IT DOES YOU ARE UNABLE TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK OR ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHERE WE WERE STOPPED AT A RED-LIGHT AND THE CAR DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. A CAR BEHIND US WAS APPROACHING THE LIGHT AND SAW THAT IT WAS GREEN, QUICKLY CAME UP BEHIND US HONKING THEIR HORN AND LUCKY WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE OTHER LANE TO AVOID HITTING US. THIS SEAMS TO HAPPEN WHEN WE FORGET TO TURN OFF THE AUTO IDLE STOP. THIS IS SOMETHING YOU HAVE TO PUSH EVERYONE YOU START THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER THEY PUT IN A NEW TRANSMISSION AND CHANGED THE TIMING BELT. PREVIOUSLY I HAD THE CARS FUEL INJECTORS REPLACED. AFTER ALL...
AFTER AUTOMATIC IDLE ENGINE STOP/START ENGAGES AND SHUT OFF VEHICLE AT STOP LIGHT, VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY WILL NOT RESTART AUTOMATICALLY. RESULTS IN BEING STOPPED AND STALLED OUT IN TRAFFIC FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AFTER WHICH IT WILL RESTART VIA MANUAL PROCESS.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED ALONG WITH AWD, KEYLESS START SYSTEM, EMISSIONS SYSTEM, UPHILL START, TRAILER ASSISTANCE, ETC. HAVE HAD TWO ENGINE COILS REPLACED AND A SOFTWARE UPGRADE. THE LIGHTS GO OFF FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THEN RETURN. HAVE SPENT $250 IN DIAGNOSTICS AND NOTHING IS FIXED. REPLACED BATTERIES IN BOTH KEY FOBS. I WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE START/STOP BUTTON FOR $375. DEALERSHIP ALSO RECOMMENDED REPLACING FUEL INJECTORS FOR $1600.NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL FIX ANY OF THE ISSUES.
THE CAR ENGINE/BATTERY SHUTS OFF AT STOP LIGHTS AND RED LIGHTS WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BREAK PEDAL. THIS SAME ISSUE OCCURRED A YEAR AGO. HONDA INITIALLY TOLD US THAT THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE AND UNTIL WE PRESSED ABOUT FINDING A KNOWN ISSUE REPORTED ONLINE THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. EVENTUALLY A REGIONAL SERVICE REP WAS INVOLVED WHO SAID THE ISSUE WAS KNOWN AND WAS WITH THE BATTERY. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND FOR ONE YEAR HAD BEEN OKAY UNTIL TWO WEEKS AGO WHEN SAME ISSUE BEGAN OCCURRING AGAIN. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE TURNING OFF. I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN I HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THE VEHICLE WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING. I AM NOW WAITING ON A REPEAT SERVICE VISIT ON OCTOBER 8, 2020 TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE THIS YEAR.
THE KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM LIGHT HAS COME ON AND THE DEALERSHIP FINDS NO CODES TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE AUTO ENGINE SHUTOFF TO CONSERVE GAS WHEN THE BAKE IS DEPRESSED WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF THE CAR AND I AM NOT ABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIME FROM DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND STOPPING IN TRAFFIC TO BEING IN THE CITY STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT. IT CAN TAKE UP TO A MINUTE OR MORE TO GET THE CAR TO START AGAIN. THE ONLY WAY TO DISABLE THIS FROM HAPPENING IS TO MANUALLY SHUT OFF THIS FEATURE EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE.
MY TIMING BELT FAILED AT UNDER 80K MILE AND AT LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD. I WAS DRIVING AND COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED AS MY CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE BELT THEN DESTROYED MY ENTIRE ENGINE.

WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN IS THE ENGINE AUTO SHUTS OFF BUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND ALL OTHER SYSTEMS STAY ACTIVE. WHAT IS HAPPENING IS THE ENTIRE SYSTEM HAS SHUT DOWN AND WE NEED TO RESTART THE PILOT. IT TYPICALLY HAPPENS AT A STOP LIGHT BUT THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WHEN MY WIFE WAS TURNING LEFT OUT OF STOP LIGHT AND THERE WAS ONCOMING TRAFFIC. VEHICLE STALLS AND SHUTS DOWN WHEN START/STOP SYSTEM IS ENGAGED. WHEN STOPPED IN THE CENTER OF THE ROAD TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE REFUSED TO START THE ENGINE AGAIN, STALLED COMPLETELY, HAVING TO TURN IT OFF AND ON. WE HAVE REPEATEDLY TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR FIX THE ISSUE SINCE IT OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE A 2016 TOURING MODEL. I PURCHASED IT USED FROM GLADSTONE HONDA (NOW SWICKARD) IN 2017. IN 2018 MY BATTERY SUDDENLY DIED DURING ERRANDS. I HAD THE CAR JUMPED AND REPLACED THE BATTERY FROM A LOCAL AUTO SUPPLY STORE. LAST YEAR, WE STARTED HEARING AN OCCASIONAL WEIRD CLICKING DURING IDLE-STOP.
