Orchid Isle Ford in Hilo has replaced the electronic power steering rack and pinion already once but now it’s gone bad again.I don’t understand why because I hardly drive my truck and it has only 40 something thousands miles on it
The first indication of problems came when I tried to put the truck in gear and I noticed that the reverse light didn't come on and it wouldn't engage into the gear then as I was traveling down a three-lane highway in the middle lane the car started jerking and like it didn't want to go and then I got to a red light and the truck would not move so I was stuck in the central lane but after engaging the gear several times I managed to get the vehicle into a gas station parking lot where I call the dealership after finding out that I had the trouble code that was referred in the recall and the vehicle was towed to Duval I mean it was told to Hogan forward on Atlantic boulevard .where it's now under inspection.
Was starting to accelerate out of a toll booth a vehicle and was about 60mph when suddenly the engine shut off. Electrical worked. Got mechanical symbol and then oil pressure low warning. It started to down shift and slow rapidly in traffic. Managed to get to side of road but almost got hit. Got it towed to dealer and the fuel pump fuse had melted. Shutting off the fuel pump.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after the dealer had reprogrammed the PCM under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V075000 (Power Train), the vehicle started to experience failures. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle downshifted to first gear unintendedly. The powertrain warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact resumed driving; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the residence. Additionally, the contact stated that the brake lights, the hazard lights, the turn signal lights, and the infotainment system and the A/C system became inoperable after the recall repair. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the failure might be related to the electrical system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
The electronic power steering locked up while driving & could not turn the wheel at all. Yes this has been inspected & confirmed by an independent service center. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to this incident. The vehicle is render useless with the locked up steering.
I’ve had this specific issue happened a few times over the last year. Basically, my truck will get stuck in first gear, a wrench will pop up on the dashboard, and my odometer will go blank. Usually, my truck will stay in first gear until I put it in park and shut off the truck (to kind of “reset it”) and then crank it back up. Sometimes it takes multiple cycles of this. One time, I got stuck in third gear and had to use manual to shift it down to first gear (while driving), and then do the steps previously mentioned to “reset it”. Because of this, my truck has thrown a P0720 code. After research, it seems like the problem is with the molded lead frame. I have contacted multiple Ford dealerships, and they are definitely aware of the issue because each time they tell me that this...
While operating vehicle at highway speeds the speedometer suddenly drops to zero and the transmission downshifts to first gear without warning. Apparently a failure of the transmission speed sensor. (?) A driver unaware of this issue that continues to drive results in excessive heat and pressure developing in the differential..A recall has been issued by NHTSA but Ford and the local dealer refused to address the problem because my VIN was not included in the recall.

Ford has a "safety compliance" which has an expiration date of 10 years or 150,000 whichever was first. How is that even allowed? A major issue with the transmission range sensor which doesn't show a driver what gear there in...the lights all disappear so driver doesn't know if there in P, R, D, N, etc...its extremely dangerous! It also forces my truck to go into limp mode which is very dangerous especially when driving down a highway at 55. The truck was "reprogrammed" a few years back to stop the sudden downshift issue from occurring but it didn't eliminate that problem. Do you know how scary it is to be driving down the highway at 55-60 WITH YOUR TODDLER IN THE BACK...and then your truck suddenly on its own shifts down to 1st gear and there's nothing driver csn do but hope they don't hit or get hit by another...
My truck truck won't start. We could jump it and it would be fine. I took it to ford and found out it was a bad Body control module and there was a nationwide backorder. I found on line a recall for other F-150 but didn't included mine. I was able to have mine repaired. Now I was pulling my camper home from Maine, parked the truck at home. The next morning I had a notice on the dash to have power steering serviced, found out the rack and pinion is bad. Again found others on-line with the same issue. I am lucky it didn't happen while towing or when my wife was driving. I also now have the same issues with a 2012 F-150. I feel like it needs to be investigated and Ford needs to make it right. I will fill out a complaint for the 2012 truck.
There is an active recall for my specific year/make/model - yet I'm being told it doesn't apply to my vehicle - but my vehicle is absolutely having the exact issue described in the recall. How do I get this resolved? The issue is that my vehicle will unexpectedly downshift, (I believe into first gear, based on the RPM's that I get stuck at) almost always while I am driving at freeway speeds. When this happens, an orange wrench appears in my dashboard warning indicator for a brief moment, then I lose all gauges - my digital displays literally just turn to blank dashes as I lose power and the ability to accelerate. My gauges all drop to as if the vehicle isn't even on, my speedometer displays "--" and my RPM's remain at approximately 1500 regardless of whether I try to accelerate or decelerate. BCM malfunction , Ford Recall # 10S14
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the rear driver’s side turn signal and brake lights were inadvertently illuminated and the key failed to program. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the dealer refused to look at the vehicle since it was not included in a recall. The contact diagnosed the vehicle with body control module (BCM) failure. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V128000 (Electrical System) however, this VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
Over the last few months on at least 15 occasions my transmission has tried to downshift into 1st gear while traveling highway speeds (55-65). Causing the tires lock up but I have always caught it and shifted into neutral to not cause any problems. After researching it sounds like this is a VERY COMMON issue that apparently hasn't been resolved with Fords TSB and software reflash. Also, while this happens my speedometer goes to zero and a wrench screen come up on the instrument panel for a split second.
Fuel Pump Fuse - 27 melted. Is a common problem according to Internet forums on 2010-2014 models.
Transmission Range Sensor issues causing the truck did not recognize the gear correctly. Cluster did not recognize(light did not turn on) when the car is on gears. I called the dealer and they recognize is a issue on the F-150 of year 2011 - 2012.

The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics, who informed the contact that the failure could be related to the body control module (BCM) or to the engine control module (ECM). The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 192,088.
Just out of no where the vehicle stoped and wouldn’t go into gear
While driving the steering locked up, steering assist came up, and something about steering sensor. Very dangerous going down highway and steering locks up on you. They need a recall on 2011 Ford F150 Electronic Steering.
We took our vehicle to Woodhouse Ford in Omaha, NE (72nd St Location) for the 19S07-6R80 Sudden Transmission Downshift-Powertrain Control Module Programming Recall. It was supposedly fixed with a software update. Not long after we experienced the PRNDL Illumination and Backup Lamp Activation (Recall 12C23) Symptom. We were told, while this is a known issue and a recall for other 2011 Ford F-150s, your vehicle’s specific VIN is not “officially in the recall”. Thus, your bill is $867.26 and $636.57 for the associated repairs; transmission leadframe, the backing light issue, and an associated parasitic leak. We pay, we get the vehicle back with no resolution of the parasitic leak and now a backing camera that no longer works (Blue Screen)…was working just fine prior. We now learn that the backing camera is a recall in other Fords…but not OUR VIN. Woodhouse quotes another $900 (New Backup Camera) and another $450...
The below was sent to me, It is difficult for me to understand why I was not told the recall expired in 2016 when I made the appointment (6-6-23) and when I handed my property over (6-12-23) to this dealership. Thank you for the diagnostic, it was very helpful, but, I still run the danger of crashing due to my breaks not pressing down when the pump goes out and the option to get FORD to fix it expired in 2016, My VIN is registered and I did not get a notice, I would gladly give this shop the $$ to fix the 2016 recall that expired. Now, that business will go to your competitor. If you were not aware of the expiration, I get that, but, you are a shop specifically designed for my Ford, again, thank you for the diagnostic but the way it was done I can't...
It was a really cold night. My niece got in my truck in the passenger side back door. When we got to the grocery store 10 minutes later, that door refused to open. When I hit the lock/unlock button, it didn't even sound like it engaged at all in that door panel. The manual lock could neither be pushed down or pulled up. As soon as it got warm out again, the door opened and the locking mechanism worked just fine.
My truck has been shifting hard..or taking a very long time to shift into gear. When I put the truck into reverse it doesn't indicate/light up the R-reverse light on dashboard which is dangerous not knowing what gear the truck is actually in..after quite some time it will slam or thud hard into reverse but still doesn't illuminate on the dash...then when switching into drive it slams very hard into gear. My acceleration has also been acting up and does not accelerate normal anymore. It's very sluggish and slow to get going which is very dangerous sometimes when entering a highway. I've also been going 40-50 mph and suddenly I lose power and my truck slows down and I have no control over it..hitting the gas only revs engine but does nothing. Traveling down the highway the vehicle Ford F150 (part of an earlier recall 190v075000 Powertrain - taken to dealership for service) suddenly shifted into first gear, it was hard to control the vehicle for a moment, then the vehicle shifted in another higher gear and I was able to pull over, to the side of the road The computer was reset at the dealer and all appeared to be well when two days later, it did the same thing. There have been issues with the vehicle to go into a flooding kind of stall and the computer screen would go blank. After, stopping and turning off the truck would be ok. This vehicle is a danger to myself and others to drive. I live in a rural area 60 miles from the nearest dealership, where it is difficult to get an appointment and have been left stranded by the roadside,...
Driving down residential street about 100 yards from my driveway and power steering completely failed. Dashboard message says steering assist fault. Luckily school hadn't let out yet so there weren't any kids running around. I was able to get the truck in my drive safely. I am having it towed to certified repair garage. Safety first. I've learned that this is a fairly common issue and that it can happen at highway speeds. Not cool Ford. Do better.
My vehicle is experiencing the same issues that were identified under recall 16V-248 with the exact same year, make and model vehicle. Several times, while driving at high speeds, the vehicle will display a wrench logo (MIL) and the vehicle will either downshift to 1st gear or completely lose all power to the pedal. After turning the ignition off and back on, for a period of time the vehicle will only move in 1st gear, will not downshift and the speedometer will not move. The check engine light will illuminate for a period of a few days and will without reason turn back off until the downshifting happens again.
The fan blower on the heat and air shorts out. The back up camera doesn't work.
Car downshifted at higher rate of speed causing engine to rev and transmission grind. Speedometer went out wheels locked. Felt like I got hit from behind
While driving on the interstate my truck suddenly flashed a wrench on the display. At that point the truck shifted by itself into a lower gear almost causing an accident and for me to lose control of the truck. When this happened the speedometer stopped working and went to zero and the mileage disappeared and showed all dashes. Once I turn the ignition off, it seems to fix the problem for the short term, but after 20-30 mins it does the exact same thing again. This happened for the first time 3 weeks ago and has happened 5 or 6 times since. I have stopped driving the truck. Ford could not tell me specifically what was wrong with the truck because they couldn't recreate the error due to the fact that they wouldn't drive it for 20-30 mins for the problem to occur.
Vehicle locked up while driving on highway and almost caused crash. Vehicle had to be towed to dealership where they identified the issues as battery junction box fuse 27 crank no start, loss of RPM and/or malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)illumined with multiple dtcs. This is a known issues published on by the NHTSA article TSB 15-0137 -Part number EL3Z*14293*A Kit terminal -Vehicle locked up while driving on highway -The dealership was able to locate the issue and fixed the know fuse terminal burnout causing failure. -Ford customer relations officer is aware of this and a complaint was placed in for KNOWN FAILURE TSB15-0137 -Multiple lights and warnings after attempting to restart vehicle Ford CASE NUMBER CAS-35065515-Q7C7H5
. The APIM Module is not working. It is available for inspection upon request. . I was told by the dealer that this electrical issue could affect other components in the vehicle. . Yes - currently the radio is not working. . Component has not been inspected other than the Ford Dealer. . No symptoms prior to the failure. Radio has been inoperable since approximately July 2021.
Electronic power Steering unit faulty. Steering wheel wont return to center when turning left, feels stiff and hard to control safely. problem was intermittent at first and is now permanent.
Hot air only out of driver's side vents. Actuator motor problem.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY HAD FAILED. THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY TO STOP THE HAZARD LIGHTS FROM DRAINING THE BATTERY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OTHER FAILURES PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 208,000.
ADVANCE TRAC WARNING LIGHT CAME ON SCREEN AS WIFE AND 2 YOUNG CHILDREN WERE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS AT NIGHT. I AM SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT OR STREET SIGN MY FOOT IS ON THE BREAK ALL THE WAY DOWN AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT JUMPS FORWARD. THEN IT STARTED PUTTING WHEN I DROVE AND KEPT GETTING WORSE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES FOR A GOOD MINUTE. EVERYTIME IT SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, AND THE DEALERSHIP ONLY FOUND MINOR STUFF THAT NEEDED FIXED BUT IT WAS NONE OF THOES THAT WAS CAUSING THIS ISSUE. SO THEN I LOOKED FOR RECALLS, AND I HAD THE RECALL ON MY TRUCK DONE AND THEN MY TRUCK STARTED KNOCKING. THIS IS STILL HAPPENING AND NOBODY CAN SEEM TO FIGURE OUT WHATS GOING ON WITH THE TRUCK.
THIS VEHICLE HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSISTANCE SERVICE (EPAS) . THE STEERING MODULE SEEMS TO NOT CONTROL THE STEERING WELL, MAKING IT HARD TO TURN OR IT BEGINS TO LOCK. THE RACK AND PINNON SEEMS TO BE THE ISSUE CAUSING THIS AND CAN LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT SINCE IF GOING ON SPEEDS OF 45MPH+ THE CAR STEERING BECOMES RIGID AND DOES NOT HAVE A BALANCE BETWEEN A NUDGE TO THE LEFT OR A HARD LEFT. IT MAKES THAT HARD LEFT WITHOUT ANY WARNING.
I WAS DRIVING AND WENT TO TURN ON MY REAR DEFROSTER AND A FEW SECONDS LATER. IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE SHOT MY TRUCK. I PULLED OVER AND DIDN'T SEE ANY DAMAGE TO THE BODY OF MY TRUCK BUT THEN REALIZED THAT MY REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED
THE CAR ALWAYS WHEN STARTING IT THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES OUT AND I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF MANUALLY FROM THE DASHBOARD, ALSO THE TRANSMISSION IS HITTING WHEN STARTING UP THE CAR ONLY HAS 120 THOUSAND MILES WHEN I START THE PROBLEM AT THIS TIME IT HAS 140 THOUSAND MILES AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES PROBLEM
WHEN THE 2 REAR DOORS ARE LOCKED, IT IS HAPHAZARD WHEN THEY WILL UNLOCK OR OPEN, EITHER MANUALLY OR FROM THE INSIDE. WHEN I HAVE CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS IN THE REAR SEATS AND I AM UNABLE TO OPEN EITHER DOOR IT CAN BE A MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH IN CASES OF EMERGENCIES. NOT EVERYONE IS ABLE TO CRAWL FROM THE FRONT SEAT TO THE REAR SEATS TO GET BABIES OUT OF THEIR CAR SEATS. THE DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK WITH THE FRONT DOOR PANEL CONTROLS OR THE REMOTE KEY. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF STATIONARY OR IN MOTION, THE DOORS STILL WILL NOT UNLOCK . THE DATE OF 5/01/2019 IS AN APPROXIMATE DATE, AS THIS HAS BEEN AN OFF & ON AGAIN PROBLEM. NOW THAT I HAVE BABIES TO TRANSPORT, IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
2011 FORD F150 STARTER PROBLEMS. I'VE REPLACED STARTER ON THIS VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES AND STILL HAVE ISSUE'S. I TURN IGNITION AND ALL THAT HAPPENS IS A SCREECHING NOISE. AFTER A COUPLE TRIES IT STARTS. SECOND ISSUE IS SPEED CONTROL ISSUES. I WAS DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING. MY TRUCK WOULD NOT SHIFT AND HAD TO MANUALLY SHIFT GEARS.
"TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER SEQUENCE, STARTER INTERLOCK, AND TRANSMISSION BRAKING EFFECT" AND 108 LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT. THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE A TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR (TRS) THAT WAS CALIBRATED OUT OF SPECIFICATION FOR REVERSE GEAR.
ON REPEAT OCCASIONS MY TRUCK SPEEDOMETER WILL STOP WORKING, MY ODOMETER WILL READ ZERO AND MY VEHICLE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO INCREASE SPEED DESPITE STEPPING ON THE GAS. IN ORDER TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE I HAVE HAD TO TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND ON AGAIN.
WHILE DRIVING THE SPEEDOMETER GOES TO ZERO. THE ODOMETER DISPLAYS JUST DASHES. THE ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED SIGNIFICANTLY. I PULL OVER AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, REMOVE THE KEY AND THEN RESTART THE TRUCK. THEN IT DRIVES NORMALLY UNTIL THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD HARDEN AS THE FAILURE OCCURRED. ALSO, THE CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING MESSAGE WAS INTERMITTENTLY DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, AN ABNORMAL NOISE WOULD EMIT FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC VACUUM PUMP. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH TADD JENKINS FORD (1090 FORD WAY, BLACKFOOT, ID 83221) AND THE MANUFACTURER WHO BOTH INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE FOR THE ELECTRONIC VACUUM PUMP. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. THIS STARTED WITH THE DOOR NOT UNLOCKING SOMETIMES WITH THE KEY FOB. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THE DOOR WOULD HAVE TO UNLOCKED MANUALLY. NOW THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL - NOT WITH KEY FOB NOR WITH LOCK KNOB. NEITHER THE INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE WILL OPEN THE DOOR. NOTHING WILL WORK AND IMPOSSIBLE TO REPLACE DOOR LATCH MECHANISM WITH DOOR CLOSED.N BASED ON INTERNET SEARCHES, THIS IS NOT A RARE OCCURRENCE. DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE IF IN AN ACCIDENT ESPECIALLY IF AN EMERGENCY SITUATION.

GOOD MORNING,I HAVE A 2011 F150 THAT IS HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE RESOLVED WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK WILL DOWN SHIFT FROM 6TH TO 2ND AT 70 MILES PER HOUR. IT ALSO WILL LOSE POWER AND REAR WHEELS WILL LOCK UP.WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND START AGAIN THE TRUCK MAKES A LOUD BANG THAT FEELS LIKE THE DRIVE SHAFT AND TRANS. ARE SEPARATING.WHILE DRIVING MPH WILL GO TO 0 MILES PH. AND A TOOL WILL DISPLAY ON THE DASH.MY TRUCK HAS 187K ON IT AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT FORD WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE DUE TO MILEAGE I WOULD HOPE THAT FORD CARES MORE ABOUT MY FAMILY'S SAFETY THAN THE 37K MILES PAST THE WARRANTY.THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED, FORD I HOPE YOU WILL FIX MY TRUCK.IT HAS ALREADY HAD THE TPS DONE DIDNT HELP,I NEED MY TRUCK...
WHILE DRIVING MY F150 ON HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION IS DROPPING GEARS SUDDENLY, IT SEEMS ITS GOING TO FIRST GEAR, ANOTHER PROBLEM I AM HAVING WITH THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION DOES NOT GO INTO REVERSE, WHEN I PUSH THE SHIFT LEVER IN THE REVERSE POSITION, THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION DOES GO IN REVERSE, THE REVERSE LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE ON THE DASHBOARD OF MY F-150 AND THE BACKUP LAMP ON THE REAR OF MY F-150 DOES NOT ILLUMINATE. *TR
THE ADVANCETRAC SYSTEM POPS UP AND WILL EITHER SLOW THE TRUCK DOWN OR SHUT IT RIGHT OFF.. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND IT STILL CONTINUED TO DO IT...I HAVE TO SHUT IT ALL DOWN AND TRY TO RESTART IT WILL SOMETIMES DRIVE FOR A SHORT TIME OR GO FOR DAYS.
