I WAS DRIVING IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE AT ABOUT 70-75 MILES PER HOUR. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND THE TEMPERATURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50 DEGREES. I ENCOUNTER A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE AND MOVED INTO THE LEFT HAND LANE AND TRIED TO PROMPTLY ACCELERATE TO PASS A SLOWER VEHICLE. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND GO INTO A VERY RAPID DECELERATION. THE VIOLENT VIBRATION OF THE ENTIRE VEHICLE AND RAPID DECELERATION MADE CONTROL A CHALLENGE. I MOVED TO THE RIGHT HAND LANE REDUCED SPEED TO 50 MPH AND CONTINUED ON TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE VEHICLE EVALUATED. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT 3 COILS FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE AND DECELERATE RAPIDLY. I HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. *TR

TRUCK HAS A 36 GALLON GAS TANK. FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT GO TO FULL WHEN FILLED. WHILE DRIVING FUEL GAUGE GOES TO EMPTY AND MESSAGE CENTER COMES ON LOW FUEL 10 MILES TO EMPTY. TANK STILL HAS 20 GALLONS OR MORE IN TANK. WHEN FILLING WITH GAS AFTER THIS HAPPENS THERE IS A HIGH PRESSURE RELEASE OF GAS FUMES FROM THE FILLER NECK WHEN PUMP NOZZLE IS PLACED IN THE NECK. AN AUDIBLE WHOOSH SOUND IS MADE AND THE BUILD UP OF GAS FUMES IS CONSISTENT WITH EVERY TIME THE GAUGE AND MESSAGE CENTER THINK THE TANK IS EMPTY. WHEN STARTING THE TRUCK AFTER THIS OCCURRENCE IT TAKES 2-3 TRIES BEFORE THE ENGINE WILL START. THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP WILL COME ON FOR 3-20 MINUTES BEFORE GOING OFF. THE FORD VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT READS "ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, AMP; EMISSIONS. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN SERVICED 8 TIMES WITH NO CORRECTIVE RESULTS....

VEHICLE ONCE WHEN FIRST BOUGHT SHUT DOWN DURING RAIN CONDITIONS WHEN TRYING TO EXCEL. IT WAS LIKE YOU RAN INTO A WALL. FORD THEN SAID IT WAS A WIRING HARNESS PROBLEM. IT CONTINUED MISSING AT TIMES OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN IN DECEMBER WHILE TRYING TO PASS A VEHICLE AND IT WAS AGAIN DURING RAIN CONDITIONS AND JUST SHUT DOWN IN THE ROAD. WE TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS TSB 13 8 1 AND MADE REPAIRS. VEHICLE NOW DOES NOT RUN RIGHT AND GAS MILEAGE HAS DROPPED BY AT LEST 2.5 MPG. NOTICEABLE POWER LOSS. VEHICLE IS THE FORD 3.5 ECHO BOOST. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM FOR CONSUMERS WHO WANT A TRUCK AND EXPECT POWER WITH GOOD MPG BUT SHOULD NOT BE AFRAID TO DRIVE OR GET A SUPPOSED FIX THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU HAVE PURCHASED. I APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION AND LET OFF THE GAS, AND STARTED TO SLOWDOWN SEVERAL HUNDRED YARDS BEFORE COMING TO INTERSECTION. THE F-150 SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS AND MY FOOT APPLY AS HARD AS I COULD TO THE BRAKE. THE TRUCK WAS ACCELERATING ON OWN. ABS KICKED IN AND PULSED. BUT AGAIN TRUCK WAS ACCELERATING WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS I COMPLETE MADE SURE FOOT WAS REMOVED AND BOTH FEET ON BRAKES. ATTEMPTED TO PUMP AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER RELATING FROM BRAKE AS PUMPING TO TRY AND STOP AS HARD STOP DIDN'T WORK IT WAS LIKE IT WAS BUILDING UP AND SHOOT OUT LIKE A BULLET AND HIT CAR IN FRONT ME. I NOTICED THAT MY TRUCK ODOMETER IS TRAVELING FURTHER THAN I AM ACTUALLY TRAVELED. I HAVE TOLD THE DEALERWHERE I BOUGHT IT FROM BUT THEY SAY THERE IS NO ISSUE. MOST RECENT WAS I LEFT SACRAMENTO CALIFORNIA AND HAD SOME WORK DONE ON THE TRUCK AND THE ODOMETER READ APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES. HAD THE TRUCK SERVICED IN BENTONVILLE ARKANSAS AND THE ODOMETER READ APPROXIMATELY 45,000. UPON RETURNING TO SACRAMENTO ,CA. THE ODOMETER READ, 48,600.IT IS NOT 3500MILES FROM BENTONVILLE, ARKANSAS, TO SACRAMENTO, CA.I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY CONTINUE TO TELL ME THERE IS AN ISSUE .TRUCK WAS BOUGHT WITH 33,700 AND NOW HAS48,600 MILES ON IT. 2011 FORD F150 EQUIPPED WITH 3.5L TURBO CHARGED ENGINE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH BEGAN MISFIRING AND SUDDENLY EXPERIENCED A NEAR TOTAL LOSS OF POWER, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SLOW TO 25 MPH QUICKLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY WITH NO SHOULDER AND NO PLACE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. THIS INCIDENT DID NOT POSE AN IMMEDIATE THREAT TO CAR OR DRIVER, BUT UNDER OTHER CONDITIONS SUCH AS OVERTAKING (PASSING) SLOWER TRAFFIC, THE SUDDEN AND NEAR TOTAL LOSS OF POWER COULD BE DISASTROUS. AFTER QUICK RESEARCH AND CONSULTATION WITH THE FORD SERVICE CENTER WHERE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK, I HAVE LEARNED THE VEHICLE ENTERED INTO "LIMP" MODE TO PROTECT ITSELF FROM MECHANICAL DAMAGE. EVENT OCCURRED 3 TIMES OVER A PERIOD FROM 27 OCT 13 TO 21 NOV 13, DECELERATING WHILE TOWING A TRAILER. SPEED VARIED ALL THREE TIMES FROM A HIGH OF ABOUT 60MPH, TO A LOW OF 45MPH. MESSAGE CENTER WOULD TURN ORANGE AND DISPLAY A WRENCH SYMBOL, WHILE THE ENGINE DISCONTINUES PRODUCING POWER. AFTER PULLING OVER, SIMPLY TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF, THEN RESTARTING, EVERYTHING APPEARS NORMAL AGAIN. TWO FORD DEALERS "FOUND NO CODES", AND WERE UNABLE TO FURTHER DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. THE SECOND DEALER ATTEMPTED TO COLLECT DATA VIA AN ONBOARD COMPUTER AS WELL, BUT THE EVENT WOULDN'T REPEAT WHILE THE DEVICE WAS INSTALLED, NOR WAS I TOWING DURING THAT TIME. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE ADVANCED TRACK SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE TURN SIGNALS BECAME INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHERE THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY MODULE MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,487.

WE DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD, HANG UP THE BLUETOOTH CONNECTED PHONE AND THE RADIO WILL BEGIN PLAYING AT FULL VOLUME AND THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS STOP WORKING, OR YOU WILL BE STARTING THE CAR UP AND THE AIR CONDITIONING WILL BE FULL BLAST OR YOU WILL START THE CAR AND YOU WONT HAVE ANY RADIO/CD PLAYER/ MEDIA CONTROLS WORKING AT ALL.
