The display will show a wrench icon and check engine light. The transmission will suddenly downshift and lose power. The RPMs will either rise or remain the same but unable to accelerate. The wheels will intermittently lock up. This occurs at high speeds on the highway and on back roads at slower speeds. Stopping the tuck, shutting it off and turning it back on will "reset" and it will run ok but the timing between incidents is intermittent. There is a recall for this issue however the dealership (Greico Ford in Raynham) refuses to make the repairs, instead telling me this is no longer covered by recall: Transmission molded leadframe extended coverage [XXX] Today was the latest event, however this has been ongoing since December 2024. My truck start to accelerate by itself and the light indicator goes crazy from parking to gear 1 From there the truck it can be controlled
There is an active recall for my specific year/make/model - yet I'm being told it doesn't apply to my vehicle - but my vehicle is absolutely having the exact issue described in the recall. How do I get this resolved? The issue is that my vehicle will unexpectedly downshift, (I believe into first gear, based on the RPM's that I get stuck at) almost always while I am driving at freeway speeds. When this happens, an orange wrench appears in my dashboard warning indicator for a brief moment, then I lose all gauges - my digital displays literally just turn to blank dashes as I lose power and the ability to accelerate. My gauges all drop to as if the vehicle isn't even on, my speedometer displays "--" and my RPM's remain at approximately 1500 regardless of whether I try to accelerate or decelerate. If I decelerate, because I'm in...
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the transmission unintendedly downshifted to first gear with the transmission warning light illuminated. The dealer later diagnosed the vehicle with a defective timing chain. The timing chain was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.
My truck is doing exactly what the recall on all the others. Check engine light on for input shaft speed sensor. Speed odometer quit working then engine light came on for speed sensor. Now when you drive on highway it will be fine then all of a sudden throw a wrench light and truck goes into limp mode and barely moves. You stop turn it off it resets but still isn’t right it doesn’t seem to shift at proper times seems to be shifting to often.

Bought a used truck. That needed timing chain and cam phasers a week after I bought it from a Chevy dealer. They sent me to Ford dealer it cost $2800.00 a week later it did the same thing. I was out of town and could not get back in the month. So when I got back they scanned again and charged me again. Then told me it needs a new engine. So I contacted Ford customer service and they said nothing they can do. I owe $10,000.00 and they want $11,000.00 for an engine. I have had the truck for a year but it all started in first week of buying truck.
The below was sent to me, It is difficult for me to understand why I was not told the recall expired in 2016 when I made the appointment (6-6-23) and when I handed my property over (6-12-23) to this dealership. Thank you for the diagnostic, it was very helpful, but, I still run the danger of crashing due to my breaks not pressing down when the pump goes out and the option to get FORD to fix it expired in 2016, My VIN is registered and I did not get a notice, I would gladly give this shop the $$ to fix the 2016 recall that expired. Now, that business will go to your competitor. If you were not aware of the expiration, I get that, but, you are a shop specifically designed for my Ford, again, thank you for the diagnostic but the way it was done I can't...
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the service vehicle warning light and the check engine warning light illuminated. Reoccurring CEL p0430. It has been repaired several times and continues to return.
Truck downshifting while driving and looses mileage speedometer and gets stuck in 3rd gear and shifting hard. Start truck up it does good for like 5 mins then downshift and pops into 3rd and get engine light and wrench light
While driving, the transmission will randomly down shift into 1st gear and the speedometer will die. The truck flashes a “wrench” icon. There is no pattern, the issue is intermittent. When the speedometer dies, the transmission will only shift in “manual” mode, but will not shift above 3rd gear. The check engine light illuminates and throws codes P0720 and P0722. This indicates an output speed shaft sensor failure. Ford released a Customer Satisfaction Program 19N01 for this issue and offers full repairs. However the repairs were only valid if the truck was less than 10 years old or less than 150,000. My truck is now 11 years old (the issue first was present in May 2022) but I only have 73,000 miles. Ford is unwilling to help because I am outside the warranty by a few months. This is a definite safety concern because I’ve been driving on the freeway...
Lost power steering while driving. Power assist failure flash on dash and then power steering went out and caused me to crash. Just like all the recalls for the same type of vehicle same year
Whistling noise from exhaust system. Inspection revealed a warped exhaust manifold.

EXHAUST MANIFOLDS LEAK AND BROKEN STUDS
I was driving 65MPH. The Change Oil Soon Message come on. I pressed Reset to clear the message. Within seconds the truck jerked twice and when I looked at the dash I was in 1st gear doing over 5500 RPM. The speedometer showed I was not moving but no other indications of error on the dash. No Wrench showing this time. I pulled over and turned the truck off. Restarted the engine and everything was just fine the whole way home from there. I drove the truck to the dealership (Lawton, OK) to check the truck for me on Thursday but they seemed to think if the check engine light was not on there was no urgency. They know it is an F150 from 2011. They want me to return on the 16th for an appointment.
Driving down the road at about 45mph. I was slowing down for a stop sign. The truck just accelerated with my foot on the brake. I had to press the brake harder and overcome the acceleration.
Have had the vacuum pump replaced twice and it’s dead again causing brake failure, the timing chain stretch already cost me one engine and now a year later the chain has stretched again on the new motor not very happy about that and passenger air bag turns on and off randomly with no codes only a warning again for no reason.

Vehicle had to be towed to dealership where they identified the issues as battery junction box fuse 27 crank no start, loss of RPM and/or malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)illumined with multiple dtcs. This is a known issues published on by the NHTSA article TSB 15-0137 -Part number EL3Z*14293*A Kit terminal -Vehicle locked up while driving on highway -The dealership was able to locate the issue and fixed the know fuse terminal burnout causing failure. -Ford customer relations officer is aware of this and a complaint was placed in for KNOWN FAILURE TSB15-0137 -Multiple lights and warnings after attempting to restart vehicle Ford CASE NUMBER CAS-35065515-Q7C7H5
According to the dealership service center, the exhaust manifolds are the reason the turbochargers have failed. The exhaust manifolds are not covered by warranty, so they are declining to repair the turbochargers. I really like this truck, but I"m very disappointed with the warranty company. I also think it's shameful will go cheap and not fix it. Ford seems to do that from time to time.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated while attempting to reverse out of the driveway, the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was shifted to PARK, restarted, and shifted into drive, and operated as designed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Several hours later that day after returning from the gas station, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled while approaching his residence. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was pushed onto the driveway and shifted into PARK. The contact performed a diagnostic test and retrieved a code for a defective transmission range sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 290,000.

Warped exhaust manifolds
On certain days, usually humid days, when you approach a hill and give it gas, a wrench appears on the display and the truck goes into Limp mode. It may go for weeks without doing this, but when it happens, you may get killed. Especially, if you are on a highway. You have no power to move the truck. You are a sitting duck. I took in to a service station and the cleaned the Throttle body, but it still happens. If you drive slowly without changing accelerator position the truck will drive but too slowly. It happens far too much.
I first noticed a rapid chirping sound from the engine when accelerating on a hill while pulling a trailer. The pickup had about 135,000 miles on it at the time. This was usually associated with an automatic downshift due to the load and the hill in order to maintain speed. The sound increased over a period of a year. Then I started noticing the sound when starting with a cold engine. The sound would diminish after the engine warmed a bit, but it didn't really disappear. I finally took this pickup to an auto clinic (Sequim Automobile Clinic, Sequim, WA) with 153,000 miles on it. The manager, Marv, later told me that they found the driver's side exhaust manifold warped. He said the noise was coming from a gap at the rear end of the manifold. He improved the condition by tightening bolts, but he said the only way to...
TIMING CHAIN RATTLE ON STARTUP
THE RR TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. THE RR BRAKE LIGHT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. THE RF TURN SIGNAL FLASHES FAST. THE RF RUNNING LIGHT DOES NOT STAY LIT WHEN USING THE REMOTE TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE. I HAVE CHECKED ALL BULBS, THAT ARE FINE, FUSES FINE. I SHOULD NOTE, TILL IT IS FIXED I CAN'T GET IT INSPECTED, AND THEREFORE CAN'T GET IT REGISTERED.
