The contact stated that after restarting the vehicle several times, the gear shift indicator resumed normal operation. The check engine and service engine warning lights were illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
