The car takes off late (delayed) after pushing on the gas pedal. The shifting is also not responding, for example, I placed the car in “REVERSE” gear and the car actually went forward like it was in DRIVE.

At a traffic light when the car failed to engage. I could accelerate but transmission did not go in gear. After 3 cycles of the traffic light I was able to get it to the side of the road, it was then that a transmission warning light came on, it never had before. After towing to repair shop I was told that the transmission needed replacing, $9000. I then learned of the “recall” by Ford, but my VIN number is not listed. This issue could have bern very dangerous as I was heading to the mountains. I’ve had my car serviced meticulously and Ford never flushed or serviced the transmission. They should be repairing my car at no cost!!

I got off work and was heading home one of the streets i Devon is uphill. As I’m driving up the hill the car just started rolling backwards. I hit the breaks and turned car off and back on and even thought it was I. Drive it would only go backwards. No matter what I did it was jerking and acting like it didn’t have power even though the rpm’s was up. I mechanic came to check on me and during his inspection we discovered damages to the passenger inner tire end rod and struts so I had that repaired and the the front axle need replacing cause it wasn’t even turn to move the wheels. so I had to replace that as well. I assumed the axle was the issue but it still was driving like it didn’t want to go forward. I then say the some transmission stuff...

The transmission torque converter failed on the 2014 Ford Escape. Transmission is causing safety issue by not properly accelerating when gas pedal is pressed. This slowed movement could cause traffic crashes. Engine revs to high RPM but torque converter does not engage properly. The issues was confirmed by local transmission shop. Owner of the shop says he sees a lot of these failures in Ford Escapes. A warning message "Transmission Malfunction Service Now Warning" did appear. Ford is aware of the issue based on the TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN called 1.6L EcoBoost – Illuminated MIL And/Or Transmission Malfunction Service Now Warning With Only DTCs P0741 And/Or P1744.

Backing out of my garage and my car suddenly stopped, I put it in Drive and it went forward, then put it back in Reverse and it seemed ok. Went to 1 store and could not back up the car would not move. Again, put it in Drive then Reverse and it did back up but did not sound good. I slowly drove home, called my mechanic drove it 4 blocks to him and he concluded that it certainly was the the transmission. I had no warning lights or any or any other symptoms prior to this happening. My mechanic called the dealership where I had purchased the car because the mileage was so low, 40, 684, he was hoping that they would cover it, but was told my warranty ran out by 1 year, so I was out of luck. I also called the dealership and was told the...

In March 2022, my ford escape transmission went out due to torque converter. It just broke down without any indict light warning. I paid almost 6K to have it replaced include all transmission programming, controller. In May 2023 and June 2023, my ford escape just quit for no reason without any warning. I tried to start it up, the dashboard of red battery and red oil light came on. I was stuck in traffic for over 4 hours with this problem. It put me in critical risk being injured or killed since I am deaf. It just shut off completely without any noise or foul smelling or any warning. I brought it to several shop for this problem and they found no problem. They are clueless. They tried to blame on transmission. I refuse to pay 6-7K for transmission again. Ford need to step up and own up their problem,...

Unknown- I purchased my Car in 2021 and I’ve had ongoing transmission issues since I purchased it. As of now the issues have gotten worse. I had the transmission recall repair done, but it did not fix the jerking way my car was driving. The repairs keep getting more costly and I don’t believe there’s an actual fix, but rather that this vehicle was sold with a faulty transmission. As of now I can’t drive my vehicle because last month there was a fire under my hood and it’s totally unsafe for me and my family to be in. Ford won’t take any responsibility but they’ve already had to buy back vehicles for settling them with bad transmissions. This is not new for them.

Amongst SEVERAL problems with this vehicle, it often slips out of gear while driving. Which has caused me to have to stop in the middle of the lane. It has had multiple mega fuses go out. It will often say “power steering fault” and then the message will go away. I am genuinely scared to drive this vehicle because I never know when the power system is going to go out. I have always stayed up to date on maintenance and it has less than 90k on miles. I do not understand why this has not been pulled off the market. It seems like all the escapes before mine were pulled for the same issues.

I pulled into the parking lot of my employment. I put my vehicle in park. I went to turn the vehicle off and when I did the dash light came on saying it was not in park. It stated that it was in S. I do not use sport mode. I then called the local dealership. I learned it was a recall on the shifter bushing. They called a tow truck who came out and picked it up. The tow driver stated it was in fact the bushing was damaged/missing. He manually put it in the gears so that he could load it and took it to the dealership. They fixed the recall and are waiting to hear if the tow fee is covered under the recall so that I can go pick it up.

Transmission failure. Problem confirmed by dealer and two other certified mechanics, in 2022 and 2023. No warning lights or messages given on dashboard. Technicians found codes when vehicle was scanned. Problem only become noticeable when driving vehicle by then it was to late. Transmission would not shift properly coming to stops and trying to accelerate after stops or very minimal speed slowing or accelerating. This occurred on interstate and local driving. First occurrence was December of 2021at around 68,000 to 70,000 miles. Had transmission repaired and was told by mechanic they were problematic and it was a design flaw. Dealer admitted to problematic issue also. Second occurrence was March of 2023 with 77,000. I am currently trying to decide what to do. It is currently available for inspection. I made a formal complaint against Ford to the BBB in 2021 about this issue and they would not offer any assistance....

Transmission Yes, you can inspect it upon request. Our whole family was in the car, on a main road, we were all at risk It has been confirmed it’s the transmission. Insurance is aware. We were unaware of any problem, no lights on dash. Driving on a main road and the car just stopped working. We had to coast to a space place to stop. And then the car didn’t move forward or backwards.

The gear shifter bushing separated from the transmission and would not engage the transmission. The car, luckily, was in Park. There was a previous recall in 2018 that supposedly fixed this problem, but I now have the car at Ford trying to get the issue resolved. It appears this same problem is being discovered on later model Ford Escapes and other models. Here's an excerpt of the recall from the Ford site: DEARBORN, Mich., July 18, 2018 – Ford is issuing two safety recalls in North America. Details are: Select 2013-16 model year Ford Fusion and 2013-14 Ford Escape vehicles to replace shifter cable bushings. Ford is issuing a safety recall in North America for approximately 550,000 2013-16 model year Ford Fusion and 2013-14 Ford Escape vehicles to replace shifter cable bushings. On affected vehicles, the bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may detach from the transmission....

Wife was driving car and just stopped going up a hill. Car was on and transmission was in drive, but when she pressed accelerator, it would Rev up but not go anywhere. Had to be towed home. This is an ongoing problem with the transmission in these models. I have no idea why there has been no recall. This is extremely dangerous. Please make Ford recall these transmissions. They are already being sued for the same transmissions in other vehicles. Thank you

Extremely dangerous: car is stalling while driving. Typically, this issue occurs when starting my vehicle and pulling out into the road. Majority of the time this has occurred in smaller/neighborhood streets without much traffic. However, there have been a few times this has occurred when pulling out into traffic, or worse: trying to make a left and being stuck in on-coming traffic. This issue has been on-going for over a year (date of the first occurrence reported below), but is very intermittently occurring. I have taken my vehicle into a mechanic and Ford certified dealership, and no codes show up. I’ve left my car with the dealership to attempt to recreate the issue, and they’ve been unable to. This has occurred at least 50 times by now. I’ve found plenty of forums of reports of the same issue occurring. One reference with hundreds of comments of people searching for answers...

I was driving my 2014 Ford escape and it was cold temperatures but I came to a stop sign and when I went to go it was like I was in neutral it would not move it had never done this before and I was pushing the gas and the engine just raced. I turned the vehicle off and restarted and it went like nothing had happened. But as I'm driving it started slowing down and like it was stopping but it was still running, I continue pressing the gas showed I had 6000 rpm and was only going 31 mph, started jerking and I pulled over shut the engine down and repeated it again until I was able to reach my destination. I tried moving my vehicle and it didn't want to move shut it down about 6 times and restarted and eventually able to get it to move...

Vehicle would shift hard. Eventually the vehicle would rev rpm's but not shift into 1st gear and engage. There was no warning light. Initially the vehicle's gas pedal would depress without driving. Slowly the vehicle would creep into 1st gear but not drive faster than 2 mph. Turning the vehicle off and on and waiting 5 minutes allowed the vehicle to drive for a short time. The vehicle completely stopped shifting and had to be towed. Ford Dealers said they couldn't get the car in for service for over a month. This is my only vehicle. I need to get to work. I've had to rent a vehicle for over 5 weeks. An independent transmission shop is putting in a remanufactured trans for $4,700. The vehicle had trans failure at 122,000 miles. This trans shop had 4 other Ford Escapes in for transmission replacements; all were the body style of...

After accelerating from a stoplight on a 55mph four lane highway, a thud noise came from under the hood, the RPMs went all the way up, and my car started accelerating and lurching forward before finally falling to a cruise. The gears shifted in a wild manner for 15 seconds while the car continued to cruise and I tried to slowly accelerate to keep up with the speed of traffic. I was able to pull into the right lane of the shoulderless road, turn off and exit the vehicle and get myself to safety. The road has lots of industrial facilities, so lots of trucks and commuters alike, so while standing there waiting for the local PD there were several close calls with people slamming into the back of my stopped and stalled out car. Had the car in front of me rapidly decelerated while my car was mysteriously accelerating,...

Recall 22S43 is serious enough for Ford to "ground" the vehicle for safety concerns for potential injury to the driver, passengers, and bystanders. I spoke with their recall department on 11-21-2022 and explained that the car is on the Island of Molokai, HI, which does not have a Ford dealer. Rather than authorize a local repair shop to fix the problem, they said I'd have to ferry the vehicle to Oahu at my expense, a very complex, EXPENSIVE, and time-consuming undertaking. And, since I live in AZ, I'd have to fly to HI, rent a car, and spend at least a week there. Why Ford will not authorize a local mechanic to affect repairs is baffling and presents a dilemma for me and the other Ford Escape owners on the island.

I was driving down the road and the transmission slammed into the next gear so I took it to the garage and they plunged it in and said it was a incorrect gear ratio in between 5-6 not to drive it that the transmission will go out and someone might hit me and I have small kids that ride with me so I am afraid they may get hurt or killed now it sits at house and I have a bank payment on it. A friend of mine has the same thing and his was recalled in June but my number did not make it in the recall can you please add it to the recall so I can get it fixed and drive it and my family be safe in it. There is a safety recall on this vehicle. I never received the alert that the part was in stock. I had the actual problem happen to me where I put vehicle in park. Shifter was in Park. I exited the vehicle and it started rolling away. As I jumped into the vehicle to stop it from hitting another vehicle (fortunately it did not roll over me) , I opened the drivers door and it got caught on a large bush/tree which caused the door to hyperextend open and now the door does not close correctly at the top and it is scratched up / paint chipped. I am asking that Ford pay for fixing the door as I did what I was supposed to do (set emergency brake but it snapped right at the same time), but they are refusing to pay for the repairs to the door.

Contacted local Ford dealership(s) in reference to 2 open recalls on my vehicle: Transmission gear shift linkage and door latches. I was made aware of the door latch recall when I was traveling with my 2 children who were in the back seat and the back door opened and would not latch closed. Upon researching, I found the 2 recalls and have tried for over 4 months to get it repaired as it is a serious safety issue. I was advised that it could be in the repair shop for 2-3 months and I would not have any transportation as they stated they do not have "courtesy" vehicles. I feel like Ford should honor the recall in a timely manner which they are NOT. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
