Recall 49A was first publicized on May 11, 2023. FCA notified me about the recall in June, but no repair parts were available. I have received several other notifications from FCA since June (latest today), but every time I call the dealer to schedule the needed repair, I get the same response: no parts are available. Today I called FCA directly at 1 800 853 1403. Same response: no parts available and no estimate of when parts or repairs would be made. I am unable to trade in the vehicle due to the open recall, as no dealer will accept it. During the past seven months the powerlift tailgate has malfunctioned several times, but I have learned how to remove a fuse in the engine compartment to "re-set" it. I am increasingly concerned about a possible fire. FCA advises customers to part outside their garages to wait for the recall...
When is FCA going to figure out a solution to Recall 49A? Recalls R27 and R67 have been done on my Cherokee. This is my solution for FCA: "Possible FCA temporary solution to the PLGM catching on fire: Instead of having the PLGM connect to an always hot fuse, relocate the wire in the PDC to an only ON when the engine is running fuse. Of course this means you can only open the liftgate when the engine is running, but at least you could park in your garage. You could put the ignition switch in the RUN position and not start the engine if desired to open the liftgate. This should be an acceptable inconvenience until a 'proper repair' can be implemented."
Check engine light keeps coming on, then I loose power.

Regarding NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V338000 It has been approximately 6 months since having been notified regarding the "Electrical Short in Power Lifegate Module" potentially affecting my 2014 Jeep Cherokee. To date, the Jeep dealership is not aware of a solution to the problem. We were advised in June 2023 that we should park outside and away from structures due to the possibility of an electrical short which may lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off. We are now experiencing significant snow and I have no where to park my vehicle! What steps have to be taken to remedy this situation as soon as possible? My next step is to go to the media to report the apparent lack of concern on the part of Chrysler, as well as the NHTSA.

An unwanted activation of the emergency brake. When the car is parked or turned off and after turning on the vehicle - the service park brake turns on. After some time, the vehicle stalled and had to be towed to the dealership. Issues appear to be linked to a water leak within the vehicle’s engine block short-circuiting the electronic brake module. The leak damages the electronic brake module, and when the driver attempts to start the vehicle or shift into drive, it permanently shorts out. The vehicle is unable to move.

That evening leaving yard after about 20 feet keep locked up, parking brake engaged, again. Took about 15mins to get it to disengage by starting and restarting, drive, n, reverse. Next morning it locked as soon as I hit the gas, and was left at house as it sat. I live off a highway, I'm going to die driving it.

replaced the oil filter housing unit and filter cap because of oil leak, for the last couple of months, it’s been feeling very rough switching gears, especially when turning from a stop, and now it won’t start, at all. We tried jumping it and let it sit for a little bit and nothing changed. It’s not ticking or trying to start or anything, just the dash lights up with all the lights and the brake pedal is locked, it won’t move at all
The vehicle turns off while running, all lights on dashboard turn OFF and the vehicle dies completely. I lose power steering, brakes everything just turns off. After the vehicle comes to a complete stop I can put in parking again and the vehicle turns back on. This has happened 3 times already, luckily I have been driving it where there is no a lot of traffic, but no longer drive it on the highway it would not be safe. It happened after the light SVC 4WD turned on.

1st Repair Attempt: On April 2, 2021, 14 days after I purchased the vehicle (Purchase date: 3/18/2021), I received multiple error messages stating "Service Electronic Parking Break" "Service Anti Lock Breaking System" "Service Park Brake" "MIL" light was blinking "CEL" light was on as well and my vehicle would not accelerate. I was on a high traffic interstate and could not move the vehicle to exit to the shoulder. The dealer stated that my PCM/TCM needed to be "flashed" and my ABS Module needed to be replaced due to a CSN W20, W84 and W80 code. The part to replace the ABS Module was not in stock and my vehicle remained with the dealership until April 16, 2021 (a total of 15 days) 2nd Repair Attempt: On May 21, 2021, 35 days after the repair attempt, for the 2nd time I received multiple error messages stating "Service Electronic Parking Break"...

While coming to stop at a red light, service parking brake message along with audible ding appeared on the message center. The light on the parking break switch was flashing. Brake light was illuminated along with parking brake light. I arrived at my destination shortly after and attempted to engage the parking brake. Nothing happened. I moved up a few spaces in line at a coffee shop and came to a stop. The parking brake engaged and I was unable to move the vehicle. I turned the car off, put my seatbelt on, put the car in drive and slowly moved forward. The parking break disengaged and I was able to get home. At home I followed the procedure to reset the parking brake. The brake reset along with all lights, brake and parking brake light, and was ok until the next day. Vehicle was parked overnight. Next day tried moving...
Car has broken down multiple times. Most recent issue: 1car stalled while trying to make a left turn on highway, would not drive forward -dashboard sign said to put car in park -when trying to put it in drive it went into neutral and rolled back -car would not turn off, kept running when we tried to turn it on and off -“battery voltage low”warning signal came on -engine warning signal came on -got it to drive again after a few minutes and parked the car -tried driving it home, same thing happened all over again when were at a light after about 5 minutes -went to parking lot, hood of car was burning hot
The emergency park brake engages by itself when the vehicle starts and it does not want to disengage. The system is engaging on it's own.
I parked my vehicle in my driveway without turning on the e-parking brake (it is in manual mode). In the morning when I got into the vehicle and put the car into reverse the e-park brake engaged and would not disengage. This was followed by a “service parking brake” message on the dash. I had to have the car towed to a mechanic who found water in the EPB module which was causing the issue. The water seemed to be coming in from some seams in the roof and running directly onto the module. The replacement of the module was very expensive and the car was inoperable for over 1 week.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at various speeds, the vehicle was sputtering and then stalled. The "Shift to Park" message was displayed. The battery warning light was illuminated. The failure recurred after refueling. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was later diagnosed and determined that the catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, vapor canister, spark plugs, charcoal canister, and filter. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,366.
Leaking at the hatch watering getting into electronic parking brake module causing the parking brake to lock up and catch fire..
On or about March 26, 2023 the emergency parking break became engaged and would not disengage. Upon having my car towed to my local Jeep Dealership (Acton, MA) I was informed that water had leaked and corroded the wiring for the EPB module. The dealership informed me that this problem can’t be fixed fully and will continue to happen even after I paid $1,800.
When I fill up my car completely the car will sputter and turn off when idling at a stop. Then it may turn off and says to put in park. This has happened several times and in intersections which one incident almost caused an accident. Only happens when car gas tank is completely full. Please advise. Thank you
Parking brake stuck and won’t release due to water getting into parking brake module 2014 jeep Cherokee
The electronic parking brake module was damaged due and corroded, due to water, leading to the Jeep being unable to disengage the parking brake. The module is located in the rear of the trunk and no other signs of water were present when inspected. All of the Jeeps safety systems were effected by the module, the dash board had two lights indicated “P!” And “brake.” The module was replaced by CDR Fullerton in Somerville. The vehicle was inspected by Jeep in Somerville and they were able to reproduce the problem. The vehicle has never been subjected to any type of water damage before. The issue started while driving on a local road when the ebrake automatically engaged resulting in loss of power. After pulling over and starting restarting the car I was able to drive the car home. However, the problem reoccurred many times and we were unable to use...
The vehicle keeps loosing power, everything has been tested battery wise it not the battery. It’s acting like it’s not getting fuel. This started 3/28/23, between 40 and 60 vehicle shakes and is hesitant to go. Vehicle will jerk badly and clunk. While the check engine light starts flashing. When codes are check they are for power loss & failure.
Everytime I fill up, the car acts like the transmission is faulty. Tried to die when stopping, barely runs. On dash warning says to have transmission serviced. I have to drive approximately 6 miles, restart the engine, then it's fine. Happens everytime. Took it to the Bossier city, la. Dealership and they wanted to sell me a transmission job. I informed them of others with same problem and the said they never heard of that problem.
