I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND IT HAS BEEN FULL OF RECALLS, SOME I HAVE BEEN TOLD OF, SOME I HAVE NOT. THIS IS A RECENT EVENT, I GOT MY OIL CHANGED AT THE USUAL SHOP AND ABOUT 1000 MILES BEFORE I WAS DUE (I GET IT EVERY 3-4,000 MILES) I WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL. I THAN TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL SHOP AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY LEAKS OR ISSUES BUT WARNED ME THERE IS A RECALL FOR MY CAR BURNING OIL, WHICH I WAS NOT TOLD BY HYUNDAI. I TOOK IT TOO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE MY WARRANTY IS THROUGH AND THEY DID AN OIL CHANGE FOR ME AND TOLD ME TO COME BACK IN 1000 MILES. I WENT TO THE BEACH, WAS ABOUT 300 MILES FROM MY 1000 MILE GOAL AND I WAS AGAIN COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL. I PUT A...
TRANSMISSION REPLACED.. STARTER TAKING MORE BATTERY POWER TO START CAR SO STARTER WAS REPLACED THEN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. AFTER REPLACEMENT OF ENGINE- IT WAS FOUND THAT THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT THAT WILL NOT ALLOW THE ALTERNATOR TO REMAIN CHARGED. WHEN THE ENGINE FAILED WE WERE DRIVING 68MPH ON THE HIGHWAY ALL LIGHTS, DUMMY LIGHTS AND THE POWER TO THE CAR STARTED TO FLASH, INCREASE THEN DECREASE QUICKLY THEN AGAIN AND AGAIN.. THUMPING NOISE LIGHTS CONTINUED TO FLASH/ON OFF/ETC CAR LOST POWER ENGINE DIED. THE DEALERSHIP IS NOW SAYING THAT I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FOR DIAGNOSTICS TO FIND THE UNDERLYING CAUSE OF ELECTRICAL SHORT .. I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ELECTRICAL REPAIR THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS NOT FAULTY PRIOR TO ENGINE FAILURE. HYUNDAI SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FINDING THE ISSUE AND CORRECTING THE PROBLEM.. THE CAR HAD NO ALTERNATOR CHARGING ISSUES PRIOR TO THE ENGINE FAILURE....

WHEN I TOOK MY 2011 SONATA IN FOR THE MOTOR RECALL, I WAS TOLD MY MOTOR WAS OK. ON JULY 11, 2017 MY 2011 SONATA LIMITED SUDDENLY STOPPED RUNNING WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH AND STRANDED ME IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY FOUR LANE HIGHWAY. I HAD 146 THOUSAND ON THE ODOMETER WHEN THIS HAPPENED. AS IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, I HAD IT TOWED TO MY REGULAR MECHANIC. A FEW DAYS LATER HE INFORMED ME THE MOTOR COMPLETELY SEIZED. HOW CAN THIS BE AS HYUNDAI ASSURED ME MY MOTOR WAS OK AND I CHANGE THE OIL EVERY FIVE THOUSAND MILES WITH PURE SYNTHETIC? I THINK IT IS ONE HELL OF A COINCIDENCE THAT YOU HAD A RECALL ON THAT MOTOR, YOU FOUND MINE TO BE OK, AND THEN IT SUFFERS A COMPLETE AND ABSOLUTE FAILURE. TXX3 IS THE CAMPAIGN BUT THERE WAS ALSO ANOTHER CAMPAIGN THAT WAS TALKING ABOUT THE SPECIFICS OF WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH MY VEHICLE THAT ALL RELATE TO THIS. MY CAR HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES INCLUDING ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE ALREADY HAD IT TOWED TO ANOTHER SHOP, AND NOW I NEED IT TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP. HOW CAN A COMPANY MAKE A VEHICLE THAT COULD KILL SOMEONE DUE TO POOR ASSEMBLY AND NOT REALLY BE WILLING TO HELP? THEY SHOULD ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY AND FIX MY CAR.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND SAID THAT HER CAR STOPPED GOING LIKE IT WAS OUT OF GAS SHE PUSHED THE ACCELERATER AND IT JUST STARTED MAKING A POUNDING NOISE AND WOULD NOT GO THEN ALL OF THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AND IT LOST ALL POWER AND SHE TRIED TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WHERE SHE CALLED ME. WAS GETTING ONTO THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY POWER STEERING GAVE OUT, WAS ABLE TO PULL ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AWAY FROM TRAFFIC. MY ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING AND I WAS UNABLE TO KEEP MY CAR RUNNING. DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON CAPITAL BELTWAY THE ENGINE JUST STOPPED. HAD TO COAST TO RIGHT SHOULDER WITH HAZARD LIGHTS ON. NEAR COLLISION. CAR STARTED UP. LATER THAT AFTERNOON THE CAR STARTED KNOCKING AND THEN THE OIL LIGHT STARTED PULSING AND THEN THE CAR JUST STOPPED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HAD TO LIMP IT TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND WAIT 2.5+ HOURS TO GET A TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP. 101,846 MILES. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE STARTER AND FIX THE STEERING ISSUE AT MY COST. I MAINTAIN MY VEHICLES PER FACTORY SPEC AND TAKE THEM TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. (I HAVE A FORD RANGER WITH 240,000 MILES ON IT!). DEALER HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OR REBUILT. THE 2.4L ENGINE IS NOTORIOUS FOR THIS FAILURE PATTERN.
CAR STALLLED WHILE DRIVING. WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AND CONTINUE DRIVING. HAPPENED AGAIN. 3RD TIME COULD NOT RESTART AND ENGINE STARTED SMOKING. MECHANIC SAYS THAT THE ENGINE IN SEIZED AND SMOKING WAS THE STARTER.

MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA STARTED HAVING A TERRIBLE KNOCKING NOISE WHILE ACCELLERATING ON JUNE 3, 2017, AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO OUR LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, BAKERSFIELD HYUNDAI, FOR MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT YESTERDAY. I BELIEVE THAT THE ISSUE IS MOST LIKELY RELATED TO RECALL 132/TXX3. WHAT HAS ME FRUSTRATED IS THAT I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION WHEN FIRST NOTIFIED OF THE ENGINE ISSUES. AT THAT TIME, MY CAR HAD ABOUT 90,000 MILES AND HYUNDAI CLAIMED NO ISSUES WERE FOUND. BASED UPON MY CAR'S CURRENT CONDITION AT 116,000 MILES, I BELIEVE THAT THE ISSUE WAS ALWAYS THERE, JUST NOT IDENTIFIED BY HYUNDAI CORRECTLY. THIS PLACED ALL DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS IN MY HOUSEHOLD AT CONSIDERABLE RISK. IN FACT, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN THE PRIMARY VEHICLE OF MY TEENAGE SON! WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 91W, VEHICLE BEGAN TO MAKE A VERY LOUD RATTLING NOISE FROM ENGINE. ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTING BEGAN TO FLASH, THEN VEHICLE SHUT OFF. I MANAGED TO STOP IN AN EMERGENCY SECTION OF HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS TURNED ON BUT NOT THE ENGINE. I SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY, CALLED TOWING SERVICE, & WHILE SPEAKING TO THE AGENT I NOTICED SMOKE COMING OUT FROM THE ENGINE AND THEN FROM INSIDE DASHBOARD. FIRE FLAMES THEN IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO COME OUT FROM THE FRONT DRIVER-SIDE ENGINE. I EXITED THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR, CROSSED THE RAMP LANE, & WATCHED THE ENTIRE FRONT END VEHICLE COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT OUT THE FIRE WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF CHP.
