THE HEAT IN THE CAR DOSE NOT WORK WHEN IT IS COLD OUT. AUTO START DOES NOTHING TO WARM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE DRIVING CONTINUOUSLY TO HAVE THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE MOVE. ONCE THE GAUGE IS 1/2 WAY UP AND I TURN ON THE HEAT, THE GAUGE DROPS ALL THE WAY DOWN. NO WARM AIR COMES OUT, ALSO EFFECTING THE DEFROSTER. IF I HAVE ICE OR FOG ON MY WINDOWS THE DEFROSTER CAN'T KEEP UP SEVERELY IMPAIRING MY VISION, NOT TO MENTION THAT ALL PASSENGERS IN THE CAR ARE FREEZING THE ENTIRE TIME. THIS MORNING THE TEMPERATURE WAS 9 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT WITH A REAL FEEL OF -10 AND DURING MY 30 MINUTE DRIVE TO WORK VIA A HIGHWAY, ALL 4 DOOR WINDOWS WERE FOGGED OVER AND ICE WAS FORMING ON THEM AND THE REAR AND FRONT WINDSHIELD HAVE FOG AND ICE ON ABOUT 50% OF THEM. IF NOT...
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, WHILE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE ON MY 2017 HONDA CRV, THE MAINTENANCE TECH TOLD ME THAT MY OIL SMELLED VERY MUCH LIKE GASOLINE. GASOLINE MUST BE LEAKING INTO OIL SOMEWHERE IN ENGINE. THIS CAN BE A SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE ISSUE.
GAS IS MIXING IN THE OIL OF OUR NEW 2017 HONDA CR-V. THE 1.5 LITER ENGINE DOES NOT WARM UP SUFFICIENTLY IN COLD WEATHER, RUNS RICH, AND LEAVES UN-COMBUSTED GAS IN THE OIL. BEGAN LOSING POWER.
VEHICLE OIL CONTINUES TO BE AT ELEVATED LEVELS, OIL SMELLS STRONGLY OF GASOLINE AND A GASOLINE SMELL CONTINUES TO BE PRESENT IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS STILL OCCURRING EVEN AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WITH A/C CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT WAS DONE IN NOVEMBER 2018.
STALLING, LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, SMELL OF GAS IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT, AUDIO DISPLAY ERRATIC, ALL WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION; FRONT RUNNING LIGHTS BLINKING WHEN FOOT ON BRAKE. PROBLEMS OCCUR IN COLD WEATHER.
CAR OCCASIONALLY SMELLS LIKE FUEL ON THE INSIDE. THIS HAPPENS AT TIMES DAYS AFTER THE LAST TIME THE GAS TANK WAS FILLED. APPEARS TO BE A LEAK SOMEWHERE. CAN SOMETIMES OCCUR WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY OR IDLING AT STANDSTILL.
ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK SHOWS OIL LEVEL ABOVE FULL AND SMELLS OF GAS. HONDA DEALER CLAIMS NO KNOWLEDGE OF A PROBLEM ALTHOUGH IT IS WELL KNOWN IN INTERNET AUTO BLOGS. I HAD MY OIL TESTED AT BLACKSTONE LABORATORIES AND THE REPORT STATES IT CONTAINS 3.3% OF FUEL AND 'A FAIR AMOUNT OF METAL PRESENT', AND A FLASHPOINT OF 305 DEGREES WHEN IT SHOULD BE ABOVE 370. THIS IS A NEW CAR WITH ONLY 3534 MILES ON IT. OIL DILUTED WITH GAS COULD CAUSE MY ENGINE TO FREEZE UP WHILE DRIVING DUE TO LACK OF PROPER LUBRICATION. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM IN A TURBO ENGINE AND WILL END ITS LIFE PREMATURELY AND POSSIBLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT
CHECK OIL DEEP STICK . IT WENT OVER MAX BY 1 INCH AND IT SMELL GASOLINE. WENT TO HONDA DEALER TO FIX. THEY DID SOFTWARE UPDATE AND AC CPU REPLACE AND OIL CHANGED. STILL DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. SOMETIMES MY WIFE AND SON SMELL GAS I DON'T KNOW WHERE IT COMES FROM . REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW....
THE VEHICLE HAS A KNOWN ISSUE BY HONDA WITH UNSAFE LEVELS OF OIL DILUTION IN THE 1.5 CVT TURBO ENGINE. GAS IS MIXING IN WITH THE OIL, CAUSING OIL LEVELS TO RISE. THE FUMES OF GASOLINE ARE ENTERING INTO THE CABIN SPACE AND MAKING IT UNSAFE TO BREATHE. THE ENGINE IS ALSO HAVING STALLING ISSUES DUE TO GAS MIXING IN WITH THE OIL IN THE ENGINE AREA. THIS ALSO HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE ABILITY TO KEEP THE CAR WARM AND PROVIDING ADEQUATE HEAT INTO THE CABIN AREA. THE COMPONENTS OF THIS ENGINE ARE UNSAFE FOR COLD WEATHER CLIMATES SUCH AS THE NORTHEAST. THE CAR CAN NOT WARM UP THE ENGINE SUFFICIENTLY AT IDLE AND THEREFORE WILL NOT BLOW ANY HOT AIR INTO THE CABIN AREA. THE MANUFACTURER STATES THE CAR NEEDS TO BE OPERATING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES TO GAIN SUFFICIENT ENGINE WARMTH. THIS IS NOT...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT OIL WAS MIXING WITH THE FUEL. THE DEALER (VANDERGRIFF HONDA, 1104 W INTERSTATE 20, ARLINGTON, TX 76017, (817) 533-4266) NOTICED THE FAILURE AND PERFORMED AN OIL CHANGE AT NO CHARGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE 2,000 MILES LATER. THE CONTACT HAD AN OIL SAMPLE SENT OFF FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE RESULTS SHOWED OVER 5.3% OF FUEL IN THE OIL AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT ANY AMOUNT OVER 2% WAS INDICATION OF ANOTHER FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS AN UNKNOWN RECALL, BUT THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED IN THIS MANNER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
GASOLINE IN THE ENGINE OIL. LEVEL OF ENGINE OIL AS MEASURED WITH DIPSTICK RISING. INADEQUATE HEAT IN PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WHEN AMBIENT TEMPERATURE BELOW 25F WHEN DRIVING AROUND TOWN (10 MILES).
DILUTION OF ENGINE OIL, WHICH HAS BEEN INFILTRATED BY GASOLINE. LOW POWER IN DRIVING. STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE IN THE CABIN. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT FIRST DETECTION OF GASOLINE SMELL.

I CHECK ENGINE OIL YESTERDAY AND FOUND LEVEL VERY HIGH ON DIPSTICK AND SMELLING STRONGLY OF GASOLINE. I CALLED THE HONDA DEALER CHECKERED FLAG WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND TOOK IT DIRECTLY THERE.IT HAD ONLY BEEN 180 MILES DRIVEN SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE AT DEALER. THEY OFFERED TO CHANGE OIL AGAIN AND THEN TOLD ME TO KEEP CHECKING OIL LEVEL AND RETURN TO DEALER IN 1000 MILES. I WAS TOLD THE OIL LEVEL WAS HALF QUART OVER FILLED AND WAS BECAUSE GAS WAS NOT BEING BURNED DURING COMBUSTION BECAUSE ENGINE WAS NOT HOT ENOUGH. THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL AND NOT TO WORRY. I DON'T THINK THE OIL WILL PROTECT MY ENGINE WHEN IT IS SO DILUTED WITH GASOLINE.I FILED A COMPLAINT AND GOT A CASE NUMBER [XXX] FROM HONDA AMERICA, BUT WANT THE PROBLEM TO BE FIXED BEFORE THERE IS LONG TERM DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE. LAST OIL CHANGE FOUND OIL LEVEL 1/2 QUART HIGH WITH A STRONG GAS SMELL. OIL SAMPLE WAS NOT AS VISCOUS AS OIL SHOULD BE. CONTACTED DEALER BUT NO RESPONSE YET.

THE OIL DIPSTICK IS SHOWING THE OIL LEVEL TO BE SUBSTANTIALLY HIGHER THAN THE MAX OIL LEVEL. I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALER 1/2/19. THEY SHOWED ME A SERVICE BULLETIN INDICATING THAT GAS COULD BE MIXING WITH THE OIL, BUT HONDA CONSIDERED THAT A NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION FOR THAT MODEL. THEY OFFERED NO SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM, BUT DID CHANGE THE OIL AT MY REQUEST. I CONSIDER GAS MIXING WITH THE CRANKCASE OIL A SERIOUS PROBLEM. ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE IN THE CITY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES ON AND OFF. VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE, CREATING SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. DEALER CONFIRMED ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK HAD UNUSALLY STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE. VEHCILE HAS BEEN SERVICED ONCE BY HONDA DEALER. I WAS ASSURED THAT ALL NECESSARY FIXES WERE MADE. SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN. RETURNED VEHICLE TO HONDA DEALER FOR ADDITIONAL SERVICE.
THE CAR IS STALLING FROM TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. IT'S HAS BEEN DETERMINED THERE IS FUEL GETTING INTO THE OIL PAN CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL AT TIMES, MAKING MERGING INTO TRAFFIC UNSAFE.

GASOLINE ENTERS ENGINE OIL CAUSING IT OVERFILLS AND FAR EXCEEDING THE MAX MARK. ENGINE OIL ALSO HAS A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE. IT MAY CAUSE LONG TERM DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE WITH ENGINE OIL DILUTED.
UPON SEEING ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 1.5 LITER TURBO ENGINE IN THE CR-V'S AND CIVICS, I INSPECTED THE OIL IN MY 2017 HONDA CR-V ONLY 100 MILES AFTER IT WAS CHANGED BY THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER. I PULLED OUT THE DIPSTICK AND NOTICED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS OVER THE RECOMMENDED LIMIT AND IT WAS VERY DARK IN COLOR. I LEANED INTO THE ENGINE AND NOTICED A STRONG PRESENCE OF A GASOLINE SMELL. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THE PRESENCE OF THIS SMELL BEFORE INSIDE OF THE CABIN BUT I THOUGHT IT COULD BE FROM SOMETHING ELSE. I AM CONVINCED IT'S COMING FROM THE ENGINE. HONDA NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.
MY 2017 HONDA CRV HAS FUEL IN THE OIL, CONFIRMED BY DEALERSHIP. THE LAST TIME I HAD IT TO DEALERSHIP THEY CONFIRMED IT HAD 2 QUARTS OF FUEL IN THE CRANKCASE OIL . THIS IS A HAZARD BECAUSE THE ENGINE COULD OVERHEAT AND LOCK UP AS I DRIVE, WHICH COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. THIS ALSO LOWERS THE VALUE OF MY CAR. THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIX IT! I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR APPROXIMATELY 800 MILES SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE . IT IS CURRENTLY A QUART HIGH ON DIPSTICK AND OIL SMELLS OF FUEL.

HAD THE FIRST OIL CHANGED AT 5,658 MILES IN OCTOBER, 2018. MENTIONED THE FUEL IN OIL ISSUE WITH 1.5 LITER TURBO ENGINES (PER CONSUMER REPORTS) TO SERVICE REP AT ANNAPOLIS HONDA. HE CLAIMED TO HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT. CHECKED MY OIL TODAY (12/21/18, 7,600 MILES), OIL LEVEL IS ELEVATED APPROX. 1/2 INCH ABOVE THE FILL LINE FROM OCTOBER WITH STRONG GASOLINE SMELL IN THE OIL. HONDA CLAIMS TO HAVE A FIX FOR THIS BUT WILL ONLY ROLL IT OUT IN NORTHERN TIER STATES IN THE US. PROBLEM IS MUCH MORE WIDESPREAD AND NEEDS TO BE IMPLEMENTED NATIONALLY. DEALER SAYS HONDA IS INVESTIGATING AN 'OIL DILUTION' ISSUE WITH THIS ENGINE TYPE.
AFTER 6,000 MILES & NEAR TIME FOR OIL CHANGE THE 1.5T ENGINE HAS GAINED A QUART OF OIL [GAS IN OIL] AND NOW A QUART OVER FULL. SMELLS LIKE GAS IN OIL AND SOMETIMES SMELL GAS FUMES WHEN PARKED IN GARAGE AT HOME.
OIL IS CONTAMINATED WITH GASOLINE AT A CONCENTRATION OF 4.8% AND FLASHPOINT OF 290 DEGREES. SMELL OF GASOLINE IN ENGINE OIL. ENGINE OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED TWICE ACCORDING TO VEHICLE SPECIFICATIONS. VEHICLE IS NOT LOCATED IN A STATE WHERE HONDA IS PROVIDING FIXES FOR THE ISSUE, EG REPROGRAMMING COMPUTER AND HVAC CONTROL UNIT.

I SMELL GASOLINE IN THE CABIN WHILE DRIVING. I'M REALLY CONCERNED BECAUSE I HAVE MY 2 YEAR-OLD SON IN THE CAR WITH ME MOST OF THE TIME. THAT'S GOING TO CAUSE SOME HEALTH ISSUES. THE OIL LEVEL SHOWN ON THE DIP STICK IS ALWAYS HIGH AND HAS HEAVILY GAS SMELL WHEN DIP STICK IS PULLED OUT OF ENGINE.

MY 2017 CR-V EX-L HAS THE OIL DILUTION ISSUE. CURRENTLY READING 1.5 INCHES HIGHER THAN THE MAX FILL LINE ON THE DIPSTICK. VEHICLE SMELLS SO BAD...LIKE SULFUR SMELL OR GAS. IT IS AN OVERPOWERING SMELL AND MAKES ME NAUSEOUS. THIS CAN OCCUR AFTER IDLING FOR A FEW MINUTES, OR AFTER DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY FOR 30 MINUTES. IT IS NOT JUST A SHORT DRIVING DISTANCE ISSUE. THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION. IT IS WINTER IN MICHIGAN. WHEN CHECKING THE OIL DIPSTICK THE LEVEL OF OIL ON THE STICK WAS HIGH AND SMELLED STRONGLY OF GASOLINE. HAVING HEARD OFTEN OF THIS ISSUE WITH THE 2017 TURBO CRV, I NOW UNDERSTAND IT TO BE THAT GASOLINE IS LEAKING INTO MY OIL AND COULD CAUSE STALLING WHILE DRIVING. I HOPE THAT HONDA WILL ADDRESS THIS ISSUE SOON AND RECALL ITS US CRV'S FOR REPAIR QUICKLY.
AFTER NOTICING A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE IN THE CABIN, I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AND FOUND THE DIPSTICK INDICATED THE OIL LEVEL WAS ABOUT 1/2-1 QUART TOO HIGH. SINCE I HAD THE OIL CHANGE BY A DEALER ABOUT 2500 MILE BACK AND I HAD CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AFTER THE OIL CHANGE, I FOUND THIS OIL LEVEL READING PUZZLING. THEN I SMELLED THE DIPSTICK AND NOTICE A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR FROM THE OIL. I AM NOW WORRIED ABOUT THE HAZARD OF GASOLINE VAPOR EXPOSURE AND THE WEAR EFFECTS OF DILUTED ENGINE OIL. THERE ALSO MAY BE AN INCREASED ENGINE FIRE HAZARD.

WE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME FUEL DILUTION IN THE ENGINE OIL THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS WITH 2017-18 CR-VS WITH THE 1.5T ENGINE ARE EXPERIENCING. WE LIVE IN VA. I FEEL AS THOUGH I DON'T NEED TO GO INTO DETAILS AS THIS ISSUE IS SO WELL KNOWN, PROMPTED A BAN ON SALES OF THE VEHICLE IN CHINA, ETC. THEY KEEP PUSHING BACK THE RECALL AND NOW ANNOUNCED FOR THE FIRST TWO MONTHS, IT WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE IN SELECT NORTHERN STATES. A SIMPLE SEARCH THROUGH COMPLAINTS SHOWS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ISOLATED TO THE NORTHERN STATES, IT MAY BE EXACERBATED BY SIGNIFICANTLY COLD WEATHER, BUT THE WAY THEY ARE ROLLING OUT A RECALL IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. MY CAR IS HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THE HONDA SENSING. BRAKING ON ITS OWN AT RANDOM TIMES AT VARIOUS RATES OF SPEED. THE MOST SERIOUS ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEED OF ABOUT 75 MPH. THE CAR SHUT DOWN AND THE COMPUTER SYSTEMS HAD ALL KINDS OF CODES OF SYSTEM FAILURES. ALSO NOW WE ARE HAVING AN ISSUE OF OIL DILUTION DUE TO GASOLINE. MY OIL WAS CHANGED A FEW DAYS LATER STILL OVER THE FULL LINE AND FUMES OF GAS EVIDENT. TALKING WITH HONDA DEALERSHIP CURRENTLY WHERE PURCHASED AND HONDA CORPORATE CASE WAS FILED. SO FAR THEY ARE DOWN PLAYING IT IN TEXAS DISPITE NUMEROUS CONSUMER COMPLAINTS AND COMMONALITY OF ISSUE BEING REPORTED AT THE DEALERSHIP LEVEL.
WHILE DRIVING MY '17 HONDA CR-V EX, IT SUDDENLY SPUTTERED, STARTED LOSING POWER & WOULDN'T LET ME ACCELERATE OVER 10MPH. MALFUNCTION INDICATOR STARTED BLINKING. 1. GASOLINE LEAKING IN TO ENGINE OIL. EVIDENT BY GASOLINE SMELL AND HIGH LEVEL WHEN CHECKING OIL. 2. POOR OR NO HEAT IN COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS. THIS CAUSES A SAFETY RISK DRIVING IN SNOWY WEATHER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 35 MPH AND THE CHECK ENGINE SYMBOL ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED VALLEY HI HONDA AT (760) 962-9600 (LOCATED AT 15710 VALLEY PARK LN, VICTORVILLE, CA 92394) AND WAS INFORMED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASS AIR FLOW WAS HIGH. THE TECHNICIAN ADDED FUEL CONDITIONER, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN CHANGED THE OIL AND UPDATED THE COMPUTER SYSTEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,100.

TOUCHSCREEN REPEATEDLY FREEZES, GOES BLACK, OR THE VOLUME IS UNABLE TO BE CONTROLLED. FREQUENTLY THE VOLUME WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL ALONE OR WHILE YOU ARE TRYING TO ADJUST IT UP/DOWN. THE ONLY SOLUTION FOR ALL OF THE RADIO ISSUES ARE TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN SO YOU DON'T LOSE YOUR HEARING AND PULL THE CAR OVER, SHUT THE CAR OFF, & RESTART THE CAR.
