I BOUGHT THIS CAR APRIL OF 2017 AND I ALREADY HAVE A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AFTER A MONTH. WE WENT FOR A VACATION AND AS WE WENT BACK, MY CAR IS NOT STARTING ANYMORE. I REPORTED THIS TO PERFECTION HONDA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY BATTERY IS IN 100 PERCENT OK. LAST THANKSGIVING (2018) IT DID THE SAME THING. THE BIGGEST ONE IS ENGINE OIL SMELLS GAS ON IT. I TRIED TO REPORT THIS TO PERFECTION HONDA, ALBUQUERQUE NEW MEXICO BUT REASONED OUT THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR THIS CAR. I'M NOT RECOMMENDING CRV EX AND UPPER MODELS TO ANY CONSUMER SAME WITH PERFECTION HONDA FOR POOR SERVICE QUALITY.
MY CAR WHEN 1ST TIME START ENGINE IN AM ,THE WHOLE CAR SHACKING ABNORMAL AND THE GASOLINE SMELL SOME TIME BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT WRONG
ENGINE OIL WAS 1 QUART OVERFULL. OIL SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE. ENGINE OIL VISIBLY THINNER THAN NORMAL. REPORTEDLY, THIS PROBLEM IS SYSTEMIC WITH CR-V'S AS OURS WITH THE TURBO 4 CYLINDER. THE GASOLINE SHOULD BE EVAPORATING DUE TO ENGINE TEMP; BUT, IT'S NOT -- AS A RESULT THE GASOLINE DILUTES THE ENGINE OIL AND CAUSES THE OIL LEVEL TO RISE.
ENGINE STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES IN LAST ONE YEAR WHEN ACCELERATING FROM YELD/STOP. IT HAPPED TWICE WHILE YIELDING AND MERGING ONTO HIGHWAYS; WE WERE LUCKY THERE WERE NO VEHICLES ON HIGHWAY DURING MERGING, OTHERWISE SITUATION WOULD HAVE THE WORST . ALSO ALL WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD FLASHES WITH FAILURE WARNINGS. AT THAT POINT ENGINE ALMOST STALLED RUNNING ONLY AT SPEED OF 10 M/H ATLEAST WHICH HELPED ME TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY. I SWITCHED OFF AND ON, ENGINE CAME LIVE, BUT ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE STILL THERE. WARNINGS ON THE DASHBOARD WERE CLEARED ONLY NEXT DAY AFTER WHOLE NIGHT IDLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HONDA DEALER, EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND ALSO PROVIDED THEM THE VIDEO THAT MY FRIEND SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT RECORDED WHILE INCIDENT HAPPENED. DEALERSHIP TRIED TO PULL THE ERROR CODE, BUT NONE WERE FOUND. DEALER ASKED ME TO KEEP THE VEHICLE WITH DEALERSHIP...
MY 2017 HONDA CRV EX 1.5 LTR TURBO ENGINE HAS AN OIL DELUTION ISSUE FUEL IS GETTING INTO THE CRANKCASE DELUTING THE OIL TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ALL THEY DID WAS CHANGE THE OIL I CONTACTED HONDA GOT A CASE NUMBER#09145359 THEY SAID SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME ABOUT THE ISSUE. NO ONE HAS CALLED AT THIS TIME NOV 26TH 2018
MY 1.5L TURBO CHARGED ENGINE HAS A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR IN THE ENGINE OIL. SO GASOLINE IS MIXING WITH MY ENGINE OIL AND MAY CAUSE EARLY ENGINE FAILURE OR A SAFETY ISSUE. I NOTICED THE GASOLINE SMELL WHEN CHANGING MY ENGINE OIL AND THE CAR IS PARKED.
I NOTICED A GAS SMELL IN MY CABIN OF THE CAR AND CHECKED THE OIL AND NOTICED A GAS SMELL THERE TOO. I LOOKED IT UP ONLINE AND THERE ARE A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE BUT NO RECALLS FROM HONDA. I AM TRYING TO GET AN APPOINTMENT, BUT IT'S BEEN DIFFICULT.
SINCE PURCHASING MY HONDA CR-V 1.5 TURBO IN 2017 I HAVE EXPERIENCED TWO EPISODES OF MY CAR STALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING ON NYC STREETS. ON BOTH OF THESE OCCASIONS I NARROWLY AVOIDED GETTING REAR ENDED AND BEING FORCED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE CAR BEHIND ME SWERVED TO AVOID COLLIDING INTO ME. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED MANY FAILURES OF MY HONDA SENSE SYSTEM WHEREBY MY ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM FAILED, MY ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM FAILED, WHERE MY AUDIO POWER WENT OFF, MY AUTO HIGH BEAM SYSTEM HAD FAILURES, WHICH LEAD ME TO FEEL VERY UNEASY DRIVING MY VEHICLE. AT ALL TIMES, MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THESE SYSTEM FAILURES WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AS WELL AS WHILE DRIVING ON COUNTRY ROADS AND ALSO WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS! THIS WAS NOT A ONE TIME OCCURRENCE. THESE THINGS HAVE...
FUEL IS MIXING IN OIL. THE OIL DIPSTICK SMELLS LIKE GAS AND THERE IS A GASOLINE SMELL IN THE CABIN WHEN THE HEAT IS ON. HONDA CALLS IT ABNORMAL OIL DILUTION. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER HE PUT DOCUMENTATION OF OIL SMELL ON DIPSTICK ON RECEIPT BUT SAID HONDA HAS NO FIX FOR THIS IN KANSAS. CALLED HONDA OF AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE REFERRED TO CLAIM MANAGEMENT TEAM WHO SAID NO FIX FOR THIS IN KANSAS AND HE "DOESN'T THINK IT WILL HURT THE ENGINE" EVEN IMMEDIATLY AFTER OIL CHANGE THE DIPSTICK STILL SMELLED LIKE GAS EVEN AFTER WIPING IT. I BELIEVE THAT OIL DILUTION CAN CAUSE WEAR DAMAGE TO AN ENGINE. I DRIVE MY CRV 3 MILES TO WORK.
AN ALARMING AMOUNT OF GASOLINE IS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE OIL. ALSO THE CAR PRODUCES LITTLE HEAT WHEN THE HEATER IS ON.
VEHICLE HAS GASOLINE THAT GETS INTO THE OIL, RAISING THE LEVEL WHEN THE OIL IS CHECKED. THERE IS A VERY STRONG ODOR OF GAS WHEN YOU CHECK THE OIL. THE CAR WILL BE RUNNING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS FLASH AND ENGINE LOSES POWER AND YOU HAVE TO CRUISE TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. LIGHTS THEN GO OFF AND ENGINE RUNS FINE, BUT THERE IS STILL A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE UNDER THE HOOD AND ESPECIALLY IN THE OIL. WE ARE AFRAID OF A POSSIBLE FIRE, ENGINE DAMAGE, OR LOSING POWER AND CONTROL (POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES, ETC.), POSSIBLE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
FUEL IS GETTING IN ENGINE OIL AND DELUTING IT. 1.5 TURBO ENGINE. CALL HONDA OF AMERICA THEY SAID TO TAKE TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION. HONDA GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER. DEALER CHANGE OIL TOLD TO KEEP A WATCH ON IT. CALLED HONDA BACK WITH CASE NUMBER THEY SAID HONDA HAS NO FIX AT THIS TIME. I WAS TOLD JUST TO WATCH FOR SOMETHING ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THERE WAS GOING TO BE A FIX. MEANWHILE MY ENGINE IN BEING DAMAGED BY NOT HAVING PROPER OIL LUBERCATION FROM FUEL BEING IN OIL
GASOLINE IS GETTING INTO THE OIL, RAISING THE OIL LEVEL AND CAUSING THE OIL TO SMELL OF GASOLINE AND LOSE ITS EFFECTIVENESS. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE GAS GETTING WHERE IT DOESN'T BELONG AND CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS AFTER 5 DAYS OF USE AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THE OIL WAS CHANGED BY THE DEALER BEFORE I BOUGHT IT.
OIL DILUTION. WHEN CHECKING THE LEVEL OF MY OIL, IT IS WAY OVERFULL ON THE DIPSTICK. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ( ROUSH HONDA - MEDINA ), AND WAS INFORMED THAT YES, THE OIL LEVEL IS HIGH, AND THEY CONFIRMED OIL DILUTION WHERE THE OIL IS DILUTED WITH GASOLINE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT IS NORMAL AND DOES NOT POSE A PROBLEM. I DO NOT BELIEVE THEM, I HAVE READ OF INSTANCES WHERE PEOPLES CR-V'S HAVE STALLED OUT, AND OF PREMATURE ENGINE WEAR. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. GASOLINE IN THE OIL CAN NOT BE RIGHT.
I SMELL GAS IN MY CABIN AND FOUND GAS IN MY ENGINE OIL WHICH WAS OVERFILLED. I FEEL DIZZY AND HAD HEADACHE DUE TO THAT SMELL.
ENGINE OIL BEING DILUTED BY GASOLINE CONTAMINATION, OVERFILLING THE CRANKCASE. LIQUID LEVEL IS ABOVE THE MAXIMUM LEVEL PERMITTED ON THE DIPSTICK. KNOWN PROBLEM WITH 2017-2018 HONDA CR-VS. SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE STALLING WHILE DRIVING, THOUGH I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THAT YET. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN DISCOVERED.
GAS IS MIXING WITH THE OIL CAUSING AN OVERFILL SITUATION IN THE ENGINE OIL. IT IS ALSO CAUSING THE OIL TO BE DILUTED AND MAY BE CAUSING PREMATURE ENGINE WEAR. YOU CAN CHECK THE OIL AND THE DIPSTICK CLEARLY SHOWS AN OVER FILL SITUATION AND YOU CAN SMELL GAS ON THE DIPSTICK.
I OCCASIONALLY NOTICED THE SMELL OF GASOLINE AROUND THE CAR. WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL IT WAS ABOUT 1/4 IN. ABOVE THE FULL MARK ON THE DIPSTICK. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER (SCOTT HONDA OF WEST CHESTER) WHERE THEY CONFIRMED THE HIGH OIL LEVEL AND NOTED THE SMELL OF GASOLINE IN THE OIL. I WAS TOLD THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE TURBO ENGINE BUT HONDA DID NOT HAVE A FIX AVAILABLE. THE DEALER CALLED HONDA AMERICA AND WAS AUTHORIZED TO CHANGE THE OIL UNDER WARRANTY.
I FOUND A GAS SMELL IN THE OIL FOR MY 2017 HONDA CR V. THE DEALER SAID NOTHING ABOUT THE ISSUE ON MY LAST OIL CHANGE. I TOOK THE CAR TO DAMSON HONDA ON 10/182018. THEY VERIFIED THAT GAS WAS IN THE OIL WITH AN .19 MM ADDITIONAL VOLUME. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND DANGEROUS
THERE IS GAS IN MY OIL. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES YET, BUT I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND KNOW THAT THIS IS DAMAGING MY VEHICLE.
CRANKCASE IS FILLING WITH GASOLINE FROM THE CYLINDERS CAUSING A HIGH LEVEL ON THE OIL DIPSTICK (APPROX.1/2 INCH ABOVE THE HIGH MARK) ALSO KNOWN AS OIL DILUTION.OIL HAD NO VISCOSITY WHEN I CHANGED IT AND IT REAKED OF GASOLINE.TWO DIFFERENT HONDA DEALERS AND AMERICAN HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE ALL ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT THEY HAVEN'T COME UP WITH A REMEDY YET.MEANWHILE MY VEHICLES ENGINE AND I AM SURE THOUSANDS MORE ARE BEING PREMATURELY ABUSED AND WORN BECAUSE OF GASOLINE (SOLVENT) IN THE OIL.HONDA NEEDS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT AND SOON!
AFTER THE SECOND OIL CHANGE AT 5000 MILES, I NOTICED A STRONG FUEL SMELL IN THE OIL. TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID IT WAS "NORMAL". I HAVE BEEN CHANGING OIL MORE FREQUENTLY IN HOPE THAT IT WILL ELIMINATE THIS PROBLEM. NOW MY CRV HAS 11500 MILES ON IT, THE OIL IS ALWAYS OVER FILL DUE TO OIL DILUTION. I GOT SO PISSED THAT HONDA BUILDS SUCH A [XXX] VEHICLE AND CHARGES US AT HIGH PRICE.
ON 10-11-18 I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM CONSUMER REPORTS WHICH INCLUDED AN ARTICLE ABOUT ISSUES WITH HONDA'S 1.5 TURBO ENGINES. I HAD RECENTLY BEEN NOTICING ENGINE RESPONSE LAG, ON MY 2017 CRV TOURING, SO I WENT OUT AND CHECKED MY OIL LEVEL. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED A FUEL SMELL ON THE DIP STICK. THE OIL LEVEL WAS APPROXIMATELY 1 INCH OVER THE TOP MARK. (TILL NOW I HAD NOT NOTICED AN ISSUE WHEN CHECKING OIL LEVEL PERIODICALLY SINCE MY 6-19-2018 OIL CHANGE). I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPT. AT MY HONDA DEALERSHIP AND WAS SCHEDULED FOR AN APPOINTMENT ON 10/18/2018. THEY SCHEDULED ME FOR AN OIL CHANGE. WHEN I ARRIVED FOR THE APPOINTMENT THE SERVICE REP. SAID HE HAD JUST TALKED TO THEIR HONDA REP. WHO CONFIRMED THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THAT A FIX WAS TO BE ROLLED OUT IN NOVEMBER 2018. I HAVE BEEN CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL PERIODICALLY SINCE...
I DISCOVERED FUEL IN THE OIL OF MY 2017 TURBO HONDA CR V WHEN CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 2500 MILES SINCE MY LAST OIL CHANGE. I TOOK THE CAR TO BEAVERTON HONDA ON 11/16/2018 TO CHECK IT OUT. THEY "VERIFIED CUSTOMER'S CONCERNS OF FUEL IN ENGINE OIL." THEY ALSO "ADJUSTED OIL LEVEL" AND THEN REFERRED ME TO A HONDA VIDEO ON YOUTUBE. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THEY SIMPLY REMOVED GOOD OIL TO MAKE ROOM FOR MORE GAS IN THE OIL. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND DANGEROUS.. APPARENTLY, HONDA DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THIS ISSUE.
OIL LEVEL WAS NOTICEABLY HIGHER AND HAD A FUEL SMELL TO IT. WE DID TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THERE NO FIX FOR IT AS OF NOW BUT TO CHANGE MY OIL MORE OFTEN.
WE BOUGHT OUR CRV FROM HONDA OF FIFE ON 9 APRIL 2017. SINCE THAT TIME, OUR CAR HAS HAD THREE STALLS. THE FIRST TWO WERE DURING THE MONTH OF MAY, 2017 AS WE WERE TRAVELLING AT SLOW RATES OF SPEED IN BLIZZARD AND HEAVY SNOW CONDITIONS IN MONTANA AND ALBERTA; THE TEMPERATURES WERE MILD, FOR SNOW STORMS, PROBABLY IN THE MID TO HIGH 20S F. IN BOTH OF THESE INSTANCES, THE VISIBILITY WAS ABOUT 100' AND WE WERE ALONE ON THESE ROADS; HOWEVER, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS TO BE PARKED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IF ANYONE ELSE HAD BEEN COMING OUT OF THE WHITE OF THE STORM; IN BOTH INSTANCES, THE CAR RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. I'D THOUGHT THE ISSUE MIGHT BE POOR OR FROZEN FUEL SO DIDN'T REPORT THE ISSUE TO HONDA. THE THIRD TIME THE CRV STALLED WAS ON THE I-10 BRIDGE OVER THE MISSISSIPPI AT...
WHEN CHECKING THE ENGINE OIL APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AGO, THE OIL LEVEL EXCEEDED THE "HIGH" MARK ON THE DIPSTICK. THE OIL ALSO HAD A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND THEY CHANGED THE OIL. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR ~2000 MILES AFTER THE OIL CHANGE, THE OIL LEVEL AGAIN EXCEEDS TO HIGH MARK ON THE DIPSTICK AND SMELLS STRONGLY OF GASOLINE.
I HAVE BEEN NOTICING A FUEL SMELL IN THE PASSENGER CABIN. IT SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD FROM THE DEALER TO CHANGE THE OIL AND LET THE CAR WARM UP LONGER. THAT'S THE FIX. COME ON HONDA. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. YOU NHTSA NEED TO MAKE SURE HONDA IS HELD TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE.
SMELL OF GAS IS STRONGLY PRESENT ON THE OIL DIPSTICK. THE READING OF THE DIPSTICK IS ABOVE THE FULL MARK AND IT CONTINUES TO RISE. OIL WAS ALWAYS CHANGED BY DEALER. FOUL SMELL IS SOMETIMES VERY NOTICEABLE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. CAR HEAT IN COLD WEATHER IS VERY VERY SLOW BEFORE IT HEATS THE INTERIOR.
1. ENGINE OIL LEVEL AFTER A RECENT OIL CHANGE ( WITH VERY LESS MILEAGE) SHOWS THE OIL LEVEL IS HIGHER THAN THE "HIGHEST" INDICATOR POINT. IT APPEARS TO BE OIL IS GETTING DILUTED BY UNBURNT FUEL. THIS MAY POTENTIALLY HARM THE ENGINE!!.
OIL ENGINE DELUTED WITH GAS. MIXED OIL LEVEL RISES 1 INCH EVERY 3000-5000 MILES. WHEN REACHES 22MM ABOVE "MAX" MARK ON THE DIP STICK THEN "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT COMES ON AND ENGINE STALLS. HONDA RECALLED 380000 UNITS IN CHINA FOR THE VERY SAME ISSUE. HERE IN US THEY DO NOTHING EXCEPT RISKING THE LIFE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. SHAME ! FORUMS AND YOUTUBE ARE FULL WITH THE SAME COMPLAIN EVEN SOME TV NEWS CHANNELS MENTIONED IT. HONDA , PLEASE FIX YOUR PROBLEMATIC ENGINE AND COMPENSATE THE CR-V OWNERS AND/OR BUY BACK YOUR OVERPRICED JUNK.
OIL READING WAS TOO HIGH PASS THE MAX LEVEL PLUS FUEL SMELL MIXED IN WITH OIL . ( ENGINE OIL DILUTION )
AFTER READING ARTICLES DELINEATING THAT THE 2017 AND 2018 HONDA CRV 1.5L TURBO CHARGED ENGINES WERE RECEIVING COMPLAINTS REGARDING FUEL MIXING WITH THE OIL, I CHECKED THE OIL AND FOUND THAT THE DIPSTICK WAS ABOVE THE UPPER MARK BY A QUARTER OF AN INCH AND THE OIL SMELLED LIKE GASOLINE. CHANGED THE OIL AND FOUND THAT THE OIL VISCOSITY WAS RUNNY AND THE OLD OIL HAD A STRONG FUEL SMELL. PRIOR TO CHANGING THE OIL, I HAD BEEN NOTICING A FUEL SMELL FROM TIME TO TIME WITHIN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2017 HONDA CR-V EX-L ON HIGHWAY (THE TRIP WAS ABOUT 10 HOURS), ABOUT HALF WAY OF MY TRIP, I COULD NOT REACH THE SPEED TO 55MPH WITH SPEED LIMIT OF 70MPH. MY ODOMETER WAS READING AROUND 30000MI. ABOUT TWO MONTHS LATER (JUST TWO WEEKS AGO) I TOOK ANOTHER 2 HOUR ONE WAY TRIP, SIMILAR THING HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN ON MY WAY BACK (I COULD ONLY DRIVE AT ABOUT 60MPH WITH SPEED LIMIT OF 70MPH). I RAISED THE ISSUE WITH LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. I WILL SEE WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO TELL ME ABOUT THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECKUP. IN ADDITION TO ABOVE POSSIBLE ENGINE/POWER/FUEL RELATED ISSUES, I HAD TWO INCIDENTS OF DEAD BATTERY WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING AFTER STOPPING MY CAR. ONE TIME (SUMMER 2018) I DROVE TO MY SON'S PRIVATE TEACHER'S HOUSE AND PARKED OUTSIDE. AFTER THE LESSON I COULDN'T...
UPON REMOVING THE OIL CAP, THERE IS A VERY STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH WE FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE MADE BY HONDA. WE WILL BE CONTACTING THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASE 10/2017. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN ABOUT 1,500 MILES. VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE REPORTED STALLS AND LONG TERM EFFECT OF THE ENGINE ITSELF. I AM ALSO CONCERNED WITH POTENTIAL OF THE VEHICLE STALLING AND LOSING BOTH POWER STEERING AND ABS. I WANT THIS ISSUE ON RECORD WITH THE NHTSA.

PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD AMONG OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE (1.5 TURBO ENGINE). HONDA SAYS 'IT'S NORMAL', BUT THEN PROMISES THAT 'PROBLEM IS GOING TO BE FIXED IN NEXT YEAR MODEL'.
I'VE GOT 21000 MILES ON THIS CAR WHICH I BOUGHT BRAND NEW. IT'S BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST FOUR TIMES FOR THE FOLLOWING: ALL WARNING LIGHTS COME ON THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I COULDN'T RELEASE THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE. I WAS TOLD OIL WAS MIXING WITH GAS AND THAT HONDA HAS A FIX 'COMING SOON' I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY EACH TIME
FUEL SMELL, OIL DILUTION, POTENTIAL UNEXPECTED ENGINE FAILURE
*FUEL ECONOMY IS DOWN *EXCESSIVE OIL LEVEL *SMELL OF FUEL INSIDE THE CAR *STRONG SMELL OF FUEL IN THE ENGINE OIL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. WHILE MAKING A TURN, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND RESTARTED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STOKES HONDA CARS OF BEAUFORT (855-647-4874, LOCATED AT 88 ROBERT SMALLS PKWY, BEAUFORT, SC 29906) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE OIL AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,550. *DT*JB
AFTER LEARNING OF THE FUEL IN OIL PROBLEM VIA AN ARTICLE IN CONSUMER REPORTS, I CHECKED MY OIL, WHICH HAD BEEN CHANGED 2,500 PRIOR TO THAT CHECK. THE OIL SMELLED STRONGLY OF GASOLINE, AND THE LEVEL WAS VERY HIGH. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP FROM WHICH I'D PURCHASED THE CAR I HAVE TO TAKE THE CAR IN NEXT WEEK TO HAVE THE DEALER CHECK IT OUT HONDA HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM FOR QUITE SOME TIME BUT FAILED TO NOTIFY OWNERS. IN FACT, BROAD NOTIFICATION HAS YET TO TAKE PLACE. I WANT THIS FIXED. IF HONDA DOESN'T MOVE MORE RAPIDLY, THEY'VE LOST ME AS A CUSTOMER.
MY OIL LEVEL IS ABOVE NORMAL AND SMELLS OF GASOLINE. NO OTHER SYMPTOMS SO FAR.
CABIN SMELLS OF GASOLINE AFTER DRIVING SHORT DISTANCE THEN STOPPED WHILE IDLING (THINK GOING THROUGH A DRIVE THROUGH, LEAVE HOUSE, TRAVEL A FEW MILES, WAIT IN LINE -- THAT IS WHEN IT SMELLS OF GAS). SMELL OF GAS FROM OIL DIPSTICK WHEN CHECKING LEVELS AND OIL LEVEL APPEARS TO BE HIGHER THAN NORMAL (DEALER SERVICES VEHICLE).
OIL CRANK CASE IS TOO HIGH DUE TO EXCESS FUEL IN OIL. THIS CAUSES FUEL SMELL IN CABIN AND STALLING OF THE ENGINE. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE ENGINE WILL SUFFER FROM PREMATURE ENGINE WEAR AND FAILURE DUE TO LACK OF LUBRICATION. THIS IS NOT A COLD WEATHER ISSUE AS MY DILUTION NEED HAPPENED IN THE SUMMER AND I ONLY DO HIGHWAY DRIVING WITH LONG DURATION. HONDA REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
I WAS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC IN CLEARFIELD, PA BARELY ESCAPED GETTING HIT BY A DUMP TRUCK WHEN THE CAR PRACTICALLY STOPPED. I GOT TO THE BERM OF THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 4 MPH. I GOT TO A PARKING LOT AND PUT IT IN PARK, TRIED DRIVE AND REVERSE, THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 4 MPH. I SHUT IT OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES, RESTARTED IT AND IT DROVE OK. UPON HEARING OF THE EARTH DREAM ENGINE ISSUE, I HAD OIL CHECKED AT AN AUTO ZONE, OIL LEVEL WAS ABOUT 1/4 INCH UP ON THE ACTUAL METAL ON THE DIPSTICK AND SMELLED STRONGLY OF GAS. CALLED HONDA AMERICA, WAS ACCUSED OF DRIVING WITH ONE FOOT ON THE GAS AND ONE ON THE BRAKE. CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR, PRESTON HONDA IN NEW CASTLE PA, SERVICE MANAGER DAN SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF GAS...
2017 HONDA CRV WITH 1.5 L TURBO 4 CYLINDER ENGINE. HEALTH HAZARD: NOTED GASOLINE FUMES IN CABIN AFTER STARTING THE CAR. THE FUMES ARE COMING IN THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. HAPPENING IN BOTH COLD AND HOT WEATHER. CAR HAS 30K MILES ON IT. FUMES NOTICED WHEN CAR IS STATIONARY AFTER STARTING IT. ALSO FOUND TO HAVE GAS ENTERING OIL PAN, DILUTING THE OIL, AND CAUSING HIGH OIL LEVELS. SIMILAR REPORTS FROM MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE WITH THIS ENGINE AND APPARENTLY A MAJOR RECALL IN CHINA FOR THE PROBLEM. AM CONCERNED ABOUT HYDROCARBON LEVELS IN THE PASSENGER CABIN WHICH CAN BE A MAJOR HEALTH HAZARD. JUST BECAUSE THE FUMES DISSIPATE AFTER A MINUTE OR SO DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN THAT THE HYDROCARBON LEVELS IN THE CABIN ARE NORMAL FOR THE REST OF THE RIDE. OTHER MAJOR CONCERN IS PREMATURE WEAR ON THE ENGINE DUE TO GAS MIXING WITH OIL....
ENGINE OIL OVERFILLED. CAR HAS STALLED ON OCCASION. VEHICLE SAFETY FEATURES (HONDA SENSING) FAILED COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING IN BAD WEATHER...SNOW AND RAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RUSSELL & SMITH HONDA (2900 S LOOP W, HOUSTON, TX 77054, (713) 481-3063) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT FUEL WAS IN THE OIL AND THE RUST WAS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL WAS MIXING INTO THE ENGINE OIL. THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE BY LOCAL MEDIA THAT THE HONDA VEHICLES WAS HAVING FUEL MIXING INTO THE ENGINE OIL. THEREFORE, THE CONTACT CHECKED THE ENGINE DIPSTICK AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE DIPSTICK EMITTED A STRONG FUEL ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ENGINE OIL TWICE. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED THE CONTACT CHECKED THE ENGINE DIPSTICK AND FOUND THAT THE DIPSTICK WAS STILL EMITTING A STRONG FUEL ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CASE NUMBER: 09036858 AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD RECEIVE A NOTICE WHEN THEY HAD A REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
HIGH OIL LEVEL DUE TO GAS IN THE OIL. HAVE ALREADY HAD 2 OIL CHANGES AND ONLY HAVE JUST OVER 4,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. HONDA STATES THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE IN COLD WEATHER, BUT IT STILL HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING IN THE SUMMER.
