OUR 2017 HONDA CRV EXL HAS A CLIMATE CONTROL ISSUE WHEN TEMPERATURES GET BELOW FREEZING AND THE PROBLEM GETS WORSE AS THE TEMPERATURE LOWERS. THE VEHICLE ENGINE WILL NOT WARM UP AND OF COURSE THE CLIMATE CONTROL WILL NOT WARM UP THE VEHICLE CABIN. THE ONLY WAY WE CAN GET ANY HEAT INSIDE THE VEHICLE IS BY CIRCULATING INSIDE AIR BUT WHEN YOU DO THAT,THE WINDOWS FOG UP AND OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO USE A RAG TO KEEP FOG OFF WINDOWS. HONDA WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THERES A PROBLEM. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE MOST OF OUR DRIVING IS TOWN DRIVING AND WINDOWS FOGGING OVER IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM WHEN CIRCULATING INSIDE AIR.

I WAS FOLLOWING A CRV FORUM (HONDACRVOWNERS.COM) AND NOTICED A LOT OF PEOPLE START MENTIONING FUEL IN THE OIL. THEN SAW NEWS ARTICLES ABOUT A HUGE CRV RECALL IN CHINA'S COLD CLIMATE AREAS WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS. I THEN BEGAN CHECKING THE OIL FREQUENTLY AND NOTICED A DEFINITE FUEL SMELL ON THE DIPSTICK AND RISING ABOVE THE FULL MARK. I HAVE NOT NOTICED A FUEL SMELL IN THE CABIN, FORTUNATELY, AS SOME HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT, BUT THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR AN ENGINE. TWO HONDA DEALERS HAVE TOLD ME THEY ARE AWARE OF THE...
FUEL-OIL SMELL IN CABIN AND OUTSIDE THE CAR WHEN IT IS PARKED IN-DOOR AFTER DRIVE. FUEL IN OIL. THE OIL LEVEL EXCEEDS MAXIMUM. GASOLINE SMELL IN THE OIL. THE CAR DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION. RISKS AND POTENTIAL IMPACTS: THE ODOR CAUSES IRRITATION OF RESPIRATORY SYSTEM. IT CAN CAUSE HEALTH PROBLEMS. ACCORDING TO HONDA : "OVERFILLING THE ENGINE OIL CAN RESULT IN LEAKS AND ENGINE DAMAGE." THE DILUTED BY GASOLINE OR ANY OTHER SUBSTANCE OIL IMPACTS ENGINE WORK AND THE AIR TURBINE WHICH IS LUBRICATED AND COOLED BY ENGINE OIL. I AM AFRAID OF THE CAR ENGINE MAY STOP ON A ROAD CAUSING A COLLISION.
I BOUGHT THIS HONDA CRV 2017 AWD ON 04/01/2017 FROM HONDA FOLSOM. ON APRIL 24,2018, IT WOULD NOT START. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO JUMPSTART IT AND BROUGHT THIS TO THE DEALER IN FOLSOM. THEY CHANGED THE BATTERY ON APRIL 24, 2018. TODAY, MAY 30, 2018, IT DID NOT START AGAIN SO IT WAS JUMPSTARTED AGAIN AND BROUGHT THIS TO HONDA ROSEVILLE. THEY CHANGED AGAIN THE BATTERY. THEY SAID ALL THE ELECTRICAL ARE GOOD AND NO EXPLANATION GIVEN WHY THE BATTERY DON'T LAST. THESE 2 SITUATIONS, LUCKILY, HAPPENED IN MY GARAGE. WE DID NOT HAVE ANY SITUATION THAT COULD DISCHARGE THE BATTERY.
DURING THE FIRST OIL CHANGE WE REMOVED OVER 5 QUARTS OF LIQUID. THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES THAT THE CAR HOLDS ONLY 3.7 QUARTS OF OIL. WE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WE BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY INFORMED US THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THE 2017 HONDA CR-V. GAS IS GETTING INTO THE OIL. I AM NOW GETTING FREE OIL CHANGES, THEY STATED I SHOULD COME IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE WHENEVER THE LIQUID RISES ABOVE THE FILL LINE ON THE DIPSTICK. I HAVE MANAGED TO GET AN OIL CHANGE EVERY 7010 DAYS SINCE APRIL 12, 2018. THE LAST OIL CHANGE I HAD THERE WAS AT LEAST 1 QUART OF GAS IN THE OIL DRAINED OUT OF THE RESERVOIR. THAT WAS 10 DAYS AFTER THE LAST OIL CHANGE. I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA NUMEROUS TIMES AND THE ONE TIME I ACTUALLY TALKED TO MY CASE MANAGER SHE TOLD ME THAT IT...
THERE IS CERTAINLY AN EXCESS AMOUNT OF GAS MIXED IN ENGINE OIL. ONLY FEW WEEKS AFTER OIL CHANGE, THE OIL LEVEL IS ALREADY 20 MM ABOVE THE MAX LINE. IT'S CERTAINLY A DESIGN FLAW AND I THINK HONDA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS MISTAKE AND THE CUSTOMERS. IT'S HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND HOPE THE RELEVANT RESOURCES CAN TAKE ACTION TO INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE.
I HEARD THAT THERE IS OIL LEVEL INCREASE PROBLEM ON THIS MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR'S ENGINE BECAUSE OF FUEL LEAK, SO I CHECKED THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL A FEW HUNDRED MILES AFTER CHANGING THE OIL AND FOUND THAT THE OIL LEVEL IS MUCH HIGHER THAN THE MAXIMUM MARK ON THE DIPSTICK. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO DEALER PREVIOUSLY, COMPLAINING OF A SMELL OF GAS IN THE OIL WHEN I CHECKED IT INITIALLY, AND THEY SAID IT IS FINE, THAT NOTHING IS WRONG. BOTH TIMES OF CHECKING THE OIL, THE CAR WAS IN MY GARAGE, STATIONARY, ON LEVEL GROUND.

MY NEW 2017 HONDA CRV EX THAT ONLY HAS 6850 MILES DRIVEN ON IT HAS A TERRIBLE DEFECT WITH OIL DILUTION ISSUES DUE TO FUEL LEAKING INTO THE OIL PANS CAUSING OVERFLOW AND DILUTION TO THE OIL THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE LUBRICATING THE ENGINE. THE OIL SMELLS VERY POTENT OF FUEL AND ALMOST 1 QUART OF EXTRA FLUID WAS DRAINED FROM THE OIL PAN WHEN TAKEN INTO THE DEALER AFTER REPORTING THE ISSUE. THE DEALER AGREED THAT THERE WAS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH FUEL DILUTING INTO THE OIL BUT WERE TOLD BY THE HONDA CORPORATE TECH LINE THAT THEY WERE TO JUST REPLACE THE OIL UNTIL A FIX COMES OUT. THE DEALER TECHNICIANS ASKED ABOUT CHANGING THE FUEL INJECTORS OR MAYBE A CYLINDER HEAD REPLACEMENT BUT WERE TOLD NOT TO DO ANYTHING. THERE IS ALSO A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT INVOLVING THE 2017-2018 HONDA CR-V AND CIVIC VEHICLES THAT ARE EXPERIENCING FUEL CONTAMINATION OF THE ENGINE OIL THAT COULD RESULT THE FAILURE OF ENGINE BEARING AND OTHER INTERNAL COMPONENTS. PULLED OVER AND SHUT VEHICLE DOWN. WOULD NOT RESTART. CALLED EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR TOWING TO DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT HONDA STATED IT IS A COMMON ISSUE IN COLD WEATHER (I LIVE AND PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN NORTHERN WI - LAME EXCUSE. WHEY SELL THEM HERE IF THEY DON'T WORK IN THE COLD). THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FUEL INJECTORS AND VARIOUS OTHER ENGINE PARTS. I ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE SATELLITE RADIO RECEIVER REPLACED (IT BURNT OUT). THERE WAS FUEL IN THE ENGINE OIL. ALL THIS WITH LESS THAN 4,000 MILES ON THE 2017 HONDA CR-V. NO LONGER HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE PURCHASED NEW IN 8/17 AND HAS 8900 MILES. TOURING TRIM WITH 1.5L TURBO ENGINE AND AWD. OIL LEVEL HAS INCREASED WELL ABOVE FULL MARK AFTER BOTH OF TWO OIL CHANGES DONE SINCE PURCHASED AND SMELLS STRONGLY OF FUEL. LAST OIL CHANGE WAS DONE JUST 375 MILES BACK. DEALER DENIES THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS AND NHTSA COMPLAINTS ON RECORD. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT POSSIBLE ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO INADEQUATE LUBRICATION / POSSIBLE COLLISION DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOWUP WITH DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND DOCUMENT ACTIONS TAKEN IN ORDER TO SUPPORT ANY FUTURE LEGAL ACTION TO REMEDY THIS SERIOUS DEFECT.
THE NEW GENERATION OF CRV VEHICLES HAVE A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM REGARDING OIL DILUTION WITH FUEL AND OTHER LIQUIDS. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND CAN RESULT IN PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE AS WELL AS OTHER PROBLEMS. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO CHANGE OUR OIL EVERY 500 MILES JUST TO MAKE SURE IT ISN'T TOO HIGH. GAS IS LEAKING INTO CRANKCASE AND DILUTING THE ENGINE OIL THEREFORE RAISING THE OIL LEVEL ABOVE THE MAX FILL LINE. ENGINE OIL HAS GAS ODOR AND OIL SEEMS THINNER DUE TO DILUTION WITH GASOLINE.
THE OIL LEVEL IN THE CRANK CASE CONTINUALLY RISES AND SMELLS STRONGLY OF GASOLINE. WITHIN 5000 MILES, AND 40% OIL LIFE ACCORDING TO THE MAINTENANCE MINDER, IT HAD RISEN WELL ABOVE THE MAX LINE ON THE DIP STICK.
I CHECKED THE LEVEL OF THE OIL ON THE DIPSTICK AND THE LEVEL SHOWS AS BEING HIGH, PAST THE 'FULL" REFERENCE POINT WITH A FEW MILLIMETERS. ALSO, THE OIL HAS A STRONG GAS ODOR. THE MILEAGE ON THE ENGINE IS 8454, AND THE FIRST OIL CHANGE WAS PERFORMED AT 6547 MILES, 2 MONTHS AGO.
I PURCHASED A 2017 HONDA CRV-EX WITH THE 1.5 TURBO ENGINE IN NOVEMBER 2017 AND PLAN TO GIVE THIS CAR TO MY NIECE AS A GRADUATION PRESENT IN 2019. I PURCHASED A 2017 CRV FROM ASHLAND HONDA AND TOYOTA IN ASHLAND, WI IN AUGUST 2017. ON FEBRUARY 23, 2018, MY CAR WHICH HAS 5500 MILES ON IT, STARTED MAKING A HORRIBLE NOISE AND BEGAN LOSING POWER WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. THE NOISE CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HEAT UP WHEN IDLING WHICH MEAN REMOTE START TO CLEAR THE ICE FROM THE WINDSHIELD AND WARM THE CABIN DOES NOT WORK. HONDA TOLD ME IT HAS TO BE DRIVEN TO PRODUCE HEAT. THEY'VE REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT AND FLUSHED THE COOLING SYSTEM. I HAVE TO DRIVE TO WORK DOWN A DECLINE FOR 8 MILES. JANUARY 6TH, 2018 CAR SMELLED OF EGGS AND GAS. DROVE CAR 70 MILES THE EMMISIONS AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR WAS TOWED FROM A BUSY HWY 61 MN TO HONDA SERVICE CENTER. THEY HAD CRV FOR 3 WEEKS. CHANGED OIL & PROGRAMMED INJECTORS THE OIL HAD 1QUART OVER OF GAS MIXED INTO THE OIL. 700 MILES LATER AND CAR NOW HAS GAS MIXED INTO OIL AGAIN AND OVER THE ORANGE DIPSTICK AND SMELLS OF VERY STRONG GAS. I WAS BACKING INTO MY DRIVEWAY, I STOPPED THE VEHICLE, MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THEN SHIFTED TO DRIVE AND SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED MOVING FORWARD DESPITE MY HEAVY PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES I COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE AND I WOUND UP CRASHING INTO MY CAR INTO MY NEIGHBORS HOUSE, WITH EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE AND MY CAR. GAS IS MIXING IN THE OIL OF OUR NEW 2017 HONDA CR-V. THE 1.5 LITER ENGINE DOES NOT WARM UP SUFFICIENTLY IN COLD WEATHER, RUNS RICH, AND LEAVES UN-COMBUSTED GAS IN THE OIL. FREQUENT NOXIOUS GAS FUMES IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. OFTEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SITTING IDLE, OR STARTING, THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF GAS IN THE CABIN. THIS ISSUE BEGAN A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE (FEBRUARY 3) AND HAS HAPPENED MOST RECENTLY ON MAY 28. THE INCIDENT ON MAY 28 WAS SO TOXIC THAT I DEVELOPED A HEADACHE AND HAD TO OPEN ALL WINDOWS TO TRY TO RELIEVE THE ISSUE.
