IN MODERATE TEMPERATURES, ~40-60 DEGREES F, THE ENGINE WILL STALL JUST AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE. SO IN THE SPRING AND THE FALL. IT DOES NOT OCCUR IN THE WINTER OR THE SUMMER. IT USUALLY OCCURS AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN WARMED UP AND DRIVEN AND THEN TURNED OFF FOR A WHILE. FOR INSTANCE, IF I DRIVE OUT TO LUNCH, STOP AND EAT, AND THEN START DRIVING AGAIN. JUST AFTER I START MOVING, SAY 100 FT., THE ENGINE STARTS RUNNING ROUGH AND NOTHING I DO WILL STOP IT FROM DYING. USUALLY IT STARTS RIGHT UP AND AND THEN IT NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN THAT DRIVE CYCLE. ONLY ONCE HAS IT OCCURRED TWICE IN A ROW. NO "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" OR CODES. HAD IT CHECKED BY A MECHANIC. THEY CHANGED THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, BUT IT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. STARTED OCCURRING IN THE SPRING OF 2018.

IN 2017 WE HAD A COOLANT RECALL AND WAS TOLD BY DAVE LITTLETON FORD IN SMITHVILLE, MO. THAT WE HAD ANTI-FREEZE ALL OVER OUR ENGINE AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE ENGINE. AFTER TAKING MY CAR TO MY MECHANIC SHOP FOR OIL CHANGE AND TO LOOK INTO THE ISSUE OF STALLING, THEY MADE ME AWARE OF THE PURGE BALANCE NEEDING REPLACED AND THAT WOULD SOLVE THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE STALLING. APPARENTLY, FORD KNEW THIS DEFECT SINCE 2013 AND PAID FOR REPLACEMENT IF A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. NOW INTO 2019, 93,000 MILES AND NO WARRANTY, FORD DOESN'T WANT TO ASSIST IN PAYING FOR THE REPLACEMENT. I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FOR THE REPAIR. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE THE CAR STALL IN THE ROAD AND AROUND BUSY TRAFFIC.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND, WHILE PARKED AT A STOPLIGHT, NOTICED SMOKE BILLOWING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH MY HOOD. I PULLED OVER AND HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC. MY MECHANIC SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH FLUIDS LEAKING FROM MY ENGINE AND THAT IT WAS HIGHLY DANGEROUS, ROUTINELY RESULTING IN FIRES. MY MECHANIC DIRECTED ME TO A RECALL 12S41 THAT COVERS 2013 FORD FUSIONS AND SAID IT WAS A MATCH. HOWEVER, FORD HAS DENIED MY CLAIM CITING MY CAR WASN'T COVERED WITH THE RECALL. MY CAR ALMOST CAUGHT FIRE (MY MECHANIC THINKS IT MIGHT HAVE BRIEFLY IGNITED) AND I WOULD LIKE THE PROBLEM FIXED BY FORD UNDER THIS RECALL.

TWO YEARS AFTER THAT WITH ONLY 38,000 MILES SAME PROBLEM CATALYTIC CONVERTED NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES AND 3 TIMES CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED REPLACED.

THE ONLY REASON WE KNEW OF ANY RECALLS WAS BECAUSE THE FIRST TIME MY HUSBANDS CAR OVERHEATED, TOWED IT TO FORD AND THE PULLED UP AT LEAST 6 OR 7 RECALLS NEEDING TO BE FIXED. WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF THEM ALL. WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH THE RECALLS AND IT ALL DID A TEMPORARY FIX THAT LEAD TO MORE ISSUES.

THIS VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE 2017 RECALL DUE TO COOLANT LEAKS AND ENGINE OVERHEATING ISSUES WHICH HAVE RESULTED IN ENGINE FIRES.
