Engine rebuilt at 40k miles in 12/2018. Engine started burning the engine coolant at 90k miles 08/2021. The car while driving goes into a low power mode which stops the car from accelerating. Car is currently at the dealership awaiting parts for another engine rebuild replacing the same parts.
Engine is the 2 liter turbo version, when started the engine missed fired and ran rough which caused the check engine light to come on at ~58,000 miles. Took car to Roush Ford (Columbus Ohio) and dealer confirmed the misfire was caused by coolant leaking into engine. Dealer said a long block and related parts would be ordered to fix the problem. Now waiting for call from dealer to repair, no time frame given but they stated repair time would be long. Continue to drive car with engine light coming on and misfires at startup, hope car does not fail on freeway. Repairs may be covered by Ford but no info about rental car at Ford expense. Also have a 2015 Edge with same turbo engine which could fail the same way at any time as it has 80,000 miles.
mechanic told me that radiator fluid was leaking into the number 2 cylinder which could cause the car to lose power. motor is a 2.0 eco boost. car has 62000 miles. i believe this is a very dangerous situation going down a busy highway or actually anytime. ford has known about this problem for a long time but has failed to do anything. mechanic told me many 2.0 motors has this problem of anti-freeze leaking into motor and ford issued a message about the problem to ford dealerships and how to fix it. their should be a recall to fix the problem before something bad happens. thank you
Car was mysteriously losing coolant which would lead to overheating. We would have to fill the coolant tank two times a month. When brought to the mechanic to find the leak, none could be found. Check engine light would go on and off periodically. One day, the car randomly wouldn't start. Being told by the mechanic that there is a catastrophic engine failure and the whole motor and turbo would need to be replaced. He said he had the same year and model come in not 2 months prior with the exact same issues. Coolant was leaking within the engine, hence why it couldn't be found during normal tests. a 2017 motor with less than 100,000 miles should not be experiencing engine failure.
My 3 ½ year old Ford Edge needs a new engine. It is a known problem with Ford Motor company and I believe there should be, if not a class action lawsuit against the company. My car is past the standard powertrain warranty and I declined extended warranty when I purchased the car. The check engine light came in. I took it to car dealer to figure out what was wrong and Kenny Ross Ford in Adamsburg, PA said I need a new engine. It is a 2017 Ford Edge with 73,000 miles. The local service center said it would be about 8-9k to fix it. There was not an issue with the vehicle reported under warranty. It sputtered a bit over the past three years, but I thought nothing of it. Normally I would just say it’s my bad luck, however this is a known problem with Ford Motor...
On Monday August 30th 2021 while driving the warning light stating that the engine was overheating came on. The engine was stopped and coolant level was checked and shown to be low within the engine. Coolant was refilled and the engine seemed to stabilize. On September 3rd 2021 the same overheating censor came on again and the car was taken to a licensed Ford dealer for emergency maintenance. On September 7th 2021 the repair shop called and reported that the issue was a leak in the cylinder for the coolant in the engine and that the entire engine would have to be replaced. The cost of the repair was quoted as $7636 plus tax. The car is only just over 62,000 miles with the warranty period having ended at 60,000 miles.
Engine overheating due to a KNOWN issue with coolant leaking into the cylinders of the 2017 Ford Edge. Ford knows about this issue as I have seen it reported on several different sites. This should be recalled as my vehicle began to overheat while I was driving. This puts my wife and my family at danger. I had my car serviced at the Ford dealership since it was purchased and this issue was never brought up. So this is not a servicing issue it is an issue with the engine itself.
In the Ford Edge Titanium model (I own a 2017), the 2.0L engine developed a crack in the long block between cylinders. This causes coolant to leak in the cylinders and the spark plug to seize. The engine will miss-fire and could stop running. This has happened to a multitude of Ford Edges and Escapes with the 2.0L engine. Ford is very aware of this issue.
Driving Edge with 62,000 miles on it and had a Check Engine Light later determined to be P303 (cylinder 3 misfire). I replaced coolant after finding the reservoir low. I noticed white smoke and misfiring engine at first start. The engine stuttered on the freeway and was unsafe. Ford Dealership determined a coolant leak caused this issue and will replace the engine minus my deductible on my extended service plan. As I understand it, this ecoboost engine is prone to this defect. I am only getting a rental car for 5 days on a job that will be much longer.
On way to beach on 6/6/2021 the check engine light came on and warning that car may be overheating came on, pulled to side of road until car cooled down. It ran hot but was full of coolant and not leaking. Took to to Moyer Ford in Foley, Al on 6/7/2021 with 65243 miles on car and was told would need new engine for this 2017 Ford Edge with less than 70,000 miles in it. Spent $5,500 for a new engine on a vehicle with less than $70,000 and 4 years old.
Coolant leaking into engine. Check engine light came on 07/11/2021. Took vehicle to local auto store for diagnostic test. Was told a mid ire in cylinder 2. Took vehicle to neighborhood auto shop on 07/12. Mechanic said it was the same issue to take it to the dealership due to the warranty. Brought my vehicle to dealership on 07/13. On the way to the dealership my vehicle died out on the expressway. After 6 hours of waiting, was told did not know what was causing the problem but needed to keep it. Was not provided another vehicle. I had to come out of pocket for a rental. Called on 7/20 and was told it might be my transmission and low engine coolant. Called again on 07/23, was told it was the battery. I called on 7/26 was told I need a new engine. There are complaints about this issue. Ford...
Vehicle began exhibiting a loud rattle from the engine at idle. Took vehicle to dealer and they identified it as a cracked flex plate (flexplate). While vehicle was still drivable at the time, the flex plate had the potential to fully fail at any time, which would cause power loss to the wheels. Vehicle has 62000 miles, just outside of power train warranty, and expected to cost $5000 to $10000 to repair.
The engine block is cracked and fluid is leaking into the cylinders.
The engine of my 2017 Ford Edge began to misfire intermittently in 2019. When it was finally able to be diagnosed in 2020, it was determined fuel had escaped around a spark plug. The spark plugs were replaced. Approximately one year later, the issue began again. Upon further inspection, it was found that a head gasket had gone bad. While there is not definite evidence of a coolant leak, it is suspected a leak may have initiated the issue. Research has also indicated the engine block is most likely cracked. While driving, the engine would often lull and stop accelerating. This happened several times as I attempted to drive down the interstate, being forced to exit the highway due to not being able to move with the speed of traffic. After the first repair of the spark plugs, the car seemed to drive fine, however, they shouldn't have gone bad...
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving to her destination. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the engine to be replaced. The contact also took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was also informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer and the engine was replaced. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000. The consumer stated she was told not to drive the vehicle anymore due to the fact the engine might freeze up and spent $5400 to have the engine repaired.
Engine defect - Coolant leaking into cyclinder- requires whole new engine
Service Code P0302 and P0316 indicating Cylinder #2 malfunction/misfiring---2017 FORD Edge SE FWD 2.0L EcoBoost. Check engine light came on at 59,995 miles, Sunday, March 28, 2021. Thus far, no one in danger. But some of the symptoms of this inherent, internal engine, failure code make the operation of the vehicle dangerous. The vehicle may stop abruptly or stall out. Occasionally, engine runs rough, shakes with hesitations and jerks with acceleration. 06/18/2021 inspected at Pinnacle FORD in Nicholasville, Ky. "Allowed engine to reach operation temperature and pressurized for 5 hours, 8 PSI drop in pressure. Removed spark plug and used borescope to verify coolant intrusion in the cylinder. Customer given estimate for long block rebuild". The engine light came on & off (more often) for the next 4 weeks or so after 3/29/2021. I stopped by the dealer on Monday, 3/29 to get appointment. They were 2 1/2 weeks out booking...
Coolant leak into cylinder. Manufacture defect. Known issue by Ford but will not cover any replacement as vehicle is out of warranty by 7000 miles. A 2017 with 67000 driven by a grandma 5 mph under the speed limit should not need a new engine. Engine light comes on. Misfires. Puffs of white smoke. Didn’t take to dealer as closest if 1/2 hour away. Took to local repair shop. They ran codes and said it is a known problem from Ford. NHTSA ID Number: 10162071 Manufacturer Communication Number: TSB 19-2208 Summary Some 2015-2018 Edge and 2017-2019 Fusion/MKZ/Escape/MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit a low coolant level, white exhaust smoke and/or a runs rough condition with or without an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) may include P0300, P0301-P0304, P0316, P0217, P1285 and/or P1299 stored in powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due...
2017 Ford edge with 79,000 miles began to make a loud engine rattle, it almost sounded like someone had put a semi-engine in it overnight. No check engine lights ever appeared. Took it to a local shop and they came out to look at it and said it sounded really bad and I needed to tow it to a Ford House immediately. Once Ford took it apart they found that the flywheel had cracked, and it caused my crankshaft to crack as well. They're saying I need a complete engine replacement for $8,000. Big safety issue that no check engine light never came on with complete engine failure.
Service light came on then overheat light - took to dealer to check. Told by service guy that the tech has performed a long pressure test on the coolant system to find a leak. There are no external leaks so we checked and found coolant intrusion inside the cylinder head. The fix for that is a complete engine assembly.
Engine light came on with 83,690 miles. Carried to local Ford dealership. Problem was coolant leakage into engine(which my research has shown is a common issue). The solution is engine replacement at cost of around $7000. This is a known problem and Ford has yet to correct it.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CONTINUED DRIVING WITH NO OTHER ISSUES. THE FOLLOWING DAY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME LOCAL DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED A SECOND TIME. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE BLOCK AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
2017 Ford Edge w/2.0 EcoBoost engine. Vehicle had about 64000 miles, started vehicle in morning and it idled rough. Check engine light came on. I used a code reader and it showed "random misfire, cylinder 4" P0304. Reset the check engine light and drove for about 10 more days. Started again in the morning and it idled rough causing the check engine light to come on again. I took vehicle to Ford and they diagnosed "fluid intrusion into cylinder walls". Service adviser knew exactly what it was when I described problem, saying "this is a common occurrence". Replaced engine at a cost of $5302 since it was approx. 6ooo miles out of warranty. Found numerous online complaints about this same engine and same problem. Ford seems to know about it because in Dec. 2019 they issued TSB #19-2346 describing the problem and the steps to fix it (new engine and...
THE DESCRIPTION BELOW IS WHAT HAS OCCURRED WITH MY VEHICLE. IT HAS A CRACKED FLEXPLATE RESULTING IN LOUD NOISE WHEN STARTING ENGINE AND WHEN IDLE OR AT LOW SPEED. VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL. COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF POWER IF NOT FIXED. NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10144200 MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER: SSM 47398 SUMMARY SOME 2015-2018 EDGE VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.0L ECOBOOST AND 6F35 TRANSMISSION MAY EXHIBIT A RATTLE NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION BELLHOUSING AREA WHILE RUNNING. THIS MAY BE THE RESULT OF A CRACKED ENGINE FLEXPLATE.
ALERTS THAT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE IS TOO HIGH. MAKES SMOKE COME FROM THE HOOD. COUNTLESS BOTTLES OF ANTIFREEZE JUST RUN THROUGH IT. IT CAUSES THE WHOLE CAR TO JUST SHUT OFF FROM THE HEAT WHILE IN MOTION.
COOLANT LEAKING INTO ENGINE
WAS DRIVING VEHICLE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT 33;000 MILES TOOK IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDS ENGINE .. JUST FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS AN ISSUSE THAT IS REACCOURING AND NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH ENGINE THAT DOESN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM. , . WHY ISN'T FORD DOING THIS.
AT ROUGHLY 77,500 MILES OUR ENGINE STARTING MISFIRING BOTH WHILE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE PULLED CODE P0305, INDICATING CYLINDER #2 MISFIRE. WE REPLACED THE COILS AND SPARK PLUGS AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO MISFIRE. WE THEN BEGAN HEARING FLUID MOVING BEHIND OUR DASH BOARD AND NOTICED THAT THE COOLANT TANK WAS LOW BUT NO VISIBLE COOLANT LEAK WAS FOUND. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER'S SERVICE CENTER (WOODHOUSE FORD - OMAHA, NE) FOR INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSIS. THEY CONFIRMED THAT ENGINE COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO CYLINDER #2, CAUSING THE MISFIRE. IT WAS ALSO LEAKING INTO THE HEATING ELEMENT, CAUSING A PUTRID SMELL IN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE AND THE RUSHING FLUID SOUND BEHIND THE DASHBOARD. THEY CONFIRMED THIS IS RELATED TO FORD TSB 19-2346. FORD STATED THAT THE REPAIR REQUIRES A $6300 REPLACEMENT ENGINE AND THEY ARE NOT LIABLE FOR...
ENGINE LIGHT ON MY 2017 EDGE CAME ON WHEN I STARTED IT. THE CAR WAS SHAKING AND RUNNING ROUGH. TOOK IT TO DEALER WHO SAID WHEN THEY TRIED TO REPLACE THE SPARK PLUGS, THEY BROKE ON OFF. THEY THEN DISCOVERED THE BLOCK CRACKED AND COOLANT GOT INTO THE CYLINDERS. THE ONLY FIX ACTION IS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT FORD NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED SHE WAS UNABLE TO START-UP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED LATER THAT DAY SHE STARTED THE VEHICLE USING THE SPARE KEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHITE SMOKE EXITED THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DROVE TO HER DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HEAD GASKET ALLOWED COOLANT TO LEAK INTO CYLINDER NUMBER 2. VIC BAILEY FORD (501 E DANIEL MORGAN AVE, SPARTANBURG, SC 29302, (864) 585-3600) WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
AROUND 70,000 MILES MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MY CAR HAS ALSO BEEN SHAKING UPON ACCELERATION, WHICH HAS BEEN UP TO THIS POINT, UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. I TOOK MY CAR INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP, AND THEY SAID THAT COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO CYLINDER 4, AND THAT THE WHOLE ENGINE WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY ALSO SAID THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE.
CAR ENGINE IDLES ROUGH AND WHITE SMOKE COMES OUT OF EXHAUST. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING 20 MILES PER HOUR ON MY TOWN ROAD AND I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC HE SAID THE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO CYLINDER HEAD NUMBER 2. WE HAD TO FILL THE COOLANT RESERVOIR BECAUSE IT WAS VERY LOW.
MY 2017 FORD EDGE WITH A 4 CYLINDER 2.0 ECOBOOST ENGINE AND 81,000 MILES NEEDS A NEW ENGINE, AS PER MY LOCAL FORD DEALER. I RECENTLY HAD COOLANT LEAK INTO THE ENGINE THROUGH THE CYLINDERS. ALL PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE WORK, INCLUDING OIL CHANGES, HAVE BEEN DONE WHEN REQUIRED. DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND TOTALLY MY RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $8,500. THIS PROBLEM EXISTS WITH FORD ECOBOOST ENGINES ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF IT FOR YEARS. NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN MADE SINCE MANY OF THESE PROBLEMS OCCUR AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND THEN IT'S THE CUSTOMERS RESPONSIBILITY. FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR PRODUCT WHEN THEY HAVE KNOWN FOR SOME TIME THAT THEY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINE.
ON MY 2017 FORD EDGE THE EPB MOTOR AND ABS MODULE WENT OUT AT 62,000 MILES RESULTING IN BRAKES DRAGGING AND VERY DIFFICULT TO RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE WITH THE DANGER OF LOCKING UP WHILE DRIVING. ALSO THE ENGINE IS A 4 CYLINDER 2 LITER ECOBOOST AND HAS BEEN LEAKING COOLANT INTO CYLINDER NUMBER 2 CAUSING COOLANT LEVEL TO DROP AND THE ENGINE MISFIRING EVENTUALLY LEADING TO A ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. FORD HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN TO LOOK OUT FOR THESE PROBLEMS. THE ONLY REMEDY IS ENGINE REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF AT LEAST $8,000.00. FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS FOR QUITE A LONG TIME BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL AND WILL NOT HELP WITH THE COST OF REPAIR. I BELIEVE MY ENGINE HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES. I AM NOT A MECHANIC AND DID NOT NOTICE THE PROBLEM UNTIL...
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME IN. TOOK CAR FOR REPAIR WAS TOLD IT WAS THE SPARK PLUGS. WEEK LATER CHECK ENGINE CAME BACK IN. WAS TOLD IT WAS MISFIRE CODES THEN CLEARED. WEEK LATER (3RDWEEK IN ROW) HEARD SWOOSHING SOUND LIKE LIQUID RUNNING TOWARDS THE FRONT OF CAR WHERE THE HEAT VENTS LOCATED AND CHECK ENGINE BACK ON WITH CAR GAS MILEAGE DECREASING FROM 147 MILES TO 25 MILES DURING A 5 MIN RIDE TO DEALERSHIP. TOLD LOW COOLANT AND COOLANT LEAKING INTO ENGINE THUS DESTROYING ENGINE. ENTIRE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CAR HAS 42000 MILES ON IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING HE HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO MISFIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEXT TAKEN TO TOWN AND COUNTRY FORD (7800 E LLOYD EXPY, EVANSVILLE, IN 47715) WHERE THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. ADDITIONALLY, THE REPAIR WOULD BE AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND COOLANT KEEPS GOING LOW, CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE, COOLING GETTING INTO THE CYLINDER
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC. COOLANT LEAKING INTO #2 CYLINDER -- 88,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND IT REQUIRES A TOTAL ENGINE REPLACEMENT. DEALERSHIP ESTIMATE OF $9,000 TO FIX.
DIAGNOSTIC DONE BY FORD IDENTIFIED THAT CYLINDERS 1 AND 3 MISFIRE. THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY HAS AN INTERNAL COOLANT LEAK AT CYLINDERS 1 AND 3. THERE IS COOLANT INTRUSION AT CYLINDERS 1 AND 3. A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT HAS BEEN FILED AGAINST FORD REGARDING THIS ECOBOOST ENGINE. MY CAR STALLS AND CANNOT EXCEED 60 MPH. THE RESOLUTION IS THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LONG BLOCK. FORD HASN'T ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE 2.0 L ENGINE BUT HAS ISSUED SEVERAL TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO INTEGRITY AUTO (1031 9TH AVENUE SE WATERTOWN, SD 57201, (605) 878-2277 TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS FRACTURED. THIS CAUSED WATER TO LEAK INTO THE CYLINDER HEAD CAUSING A MISFIRE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHEN DEALER DIAGNOSIS THIS PROBLEM BY CHANGING THE SPARK PLUG AND COIL PACK ON THE #2 OR #3 CYLINDER WOULD HELP RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.*DT*JB
COOLANT LEAKING INTO #1 CYLINDER CAUSING ROUGH IDLE AT START-UP AND MISFIRE DTC. TSB ISSUED BY MANUFACTURER TO REPLACE LONG BLOCK, BUT NO RECALL OR COMPENSATION FOR REPAIR.
VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON 3/11/2019 IN WAS IN A TSP STATUS WITH FORD THAT TURNED INTO A RECALL. THE RECALL HAS NOT BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED TO THIS DATE AND HAS BEEN INTO THE SERVICE CENTER 10 TIMES. IT IS CURRENTLY THERE AGAIN. FORD HAS MADE ALL OF THE REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, A DANGEROUS ISSUE PERSISTS WITH THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN AND FORDS MASTER MECHANICS HAVE NOT SOLVED THE ISSUES. THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN BECAUSE IT PRESENTS A VERY CLEAR HAZARD FOR THE OCCUPANTS AS WELL AS THE PUBLIC. THE ENGINE LOOSES COOLANT RAPIDLY WITH FORD NOT BEING ABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE COOLANT GOES. THE ENGINE SEIZES AND CAUSES YOU TO HAVE TO IMMEDIATELY STOP.
I RECEIVED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 83,300 MILES WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH FOR HALF A MILE. DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE P0303 WAS SHOWN AND COOLANT WAS OBSERVED IN THE CYLINDER BY THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP. NEW ENGINE RECOMMENDED BY REPAIR SHOP REFERRING TO TSB 19-2346.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, WHEN HE STARTED TO HEAR AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO HIS DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FLEX PLATE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED FREMONT FORD, INC. (7148 W 48TH ST, FREMONT, MI 49412, (231) 924-3200) WHERE THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,500.
FRST NOTICED IN NOVEMBER THE CAR WOULD NOT GENERATE HEAT WHILE AT IDLE. THIS PREVENTED DEFROSTING OF WINDSHIELD. NOTICED HEAT WOULD RETURN AT HIGHER REVS, BUT THIS ALSO DECREASED. NOTICED FLUID LEVEL WAS LOW ADDED ANTIFREEZE AND HEAT RETURNED SOMEWHAT BUT NOT AT IDLE. CAR HAS 36,200 MILES, JUST OFF WARRANTY. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD SINCE DRIVINGIN WINTER REQUIRES A FUNCTIONING DEFROSTER. LOCAL MECHANIC NOTED THAT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR MISFIRE OF CYLINDER #1 INDICATED A HEAD GASKET LEAK WHICH WAS WHERE MY COOLANT WAS DISAPPEARING. THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF OUTWARD LEAKS, OR A ODER OF COOLANT IN THE CABIN FROM THE HEAT CORE. IT IS NOW JANUARY, AND I CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO LACK OF HEAT AND RISK OF DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. EMAILED MY DEALER, BUT AS OF YET NO RESPONSE.
CAR ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON WITH ONLY 48K MILES AND FORD STATED MY CAR NEEDS A NEW ENGINE DUE TO BEING IMPROPERLY MADE AND COOLANT LEAKING INTO ENGINE.
CAR HAS 69,000 MILES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON. WAS TOLD A NEW ENGINE IS NEEDED BECAUSE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDERS. THOUSANDS OF THE SAME COMPLAINT AND NOW WE ARE TOLD WE NEED A NEW ENGINE ON A CAR THAT IS BARELY THREE YEARS OLD AND OF COURSE OUT OF WARRANTY. WHY HAS NOT ONE THING BEEN DONE TO RESOLVE THIS WITH FORD. HAD WE KNOWN WE WERE BUYING A LEMON WE WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THIS VECHICLE. FORD KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO RECTIFY THE DEFECT IN THE PRODUCT THEY PUT OUT ON THE MARKET. WE HAVE NO RECOURSE HERE AND WHAT FORD HAS DONE BORDERS ON ILLEGAL TO HAVE A KNOWN PROBEM WITH NO RECOURSE FOR THE CONSUMERS.
I WAS RUNNING ERRANDS DRIVING AROUND TOWN ONE DAY WHEN I NOTICED MY AUTO ENGINE START/STOP FEATURE IN MY 2017 FORD EDGE STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP & THEY SAID IT WAS A MISFIRE IN THE ENGINE. A WEEK LATER, A YELLOW LIGHT WITH THE PICTURE OF AN ENGINE APPEARS ON MY DASH. I TOOK MY CAR FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. IT CAME BACK WITH THE CODE P0304. I TAKE MY CAR TO FORD AND THEY SUGGEST REPLACING THE LONG BLOCK. THEY QUOTE ME $6,800. I NOTICED THAT MY HEAT IN MY CAR STOPPED WORKING ON THE WAY HOME. I CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL AND IT WAS REALLY LOW. I PUT COOLANT IN MY RESERVOIR AND IT WORKS AGAIN. BUT, I HAVE TO KEEP FILLING THE RESERVOIR WITH COOLANT EVERY OTHER DAY, WHICH GETS EXPENSIVE. I TELL THE SERVICE GUYS, AND THEY TELL ME THAT THE COOLANT...
HAPPENS EVERY TIME I BRAKE. HITTING THE BRAKE TO STOP ENGINE SHAKES VIOLENTLY AS I COME TO A STOP. IN ADDITION TO VIOLENT ENGINE SHAKING THE CAR IS THRUSTING FORWARD. I HAVE TO PUT MY FOOT HARDER ON THE BRAKE NOT TO HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I WILL HAVE TO THROW IT IN NEUTRAL TO STOP THE SHAKING. IN NEUTRAL THE ENGINE REVS. WHEN TRAFFIC BEGINS TO MOVE I HAVE TO PUT IT BACK IN DRIVE AND HIT THE GAS BUT THEN IT LAGS SEVERELY. IT WON'T GO ANYWHERE FOR MULTIPLE SECONDS BEFORE IT FINALLY TAKES OFF. THAT LITERALLY HAPPENS EVERYTIME I STOP AND GO. IF YOU ARE IN PARK AND HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE TOO LONG BEFORE PUTTING IN A GEAR IT STALLS OUT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND OPENED A CASE WITH FORD CORPORATION WHO BOTH DEEMED THE VEHICLE...
VEHICLE BEGAN TO IDLE ROUGHLY UPON COLD START, AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT WOULD IDLE NORMALLY. AFTER A FEW WEEKS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID IT WILL TAKE SEVERAL WEEKS BEFORE THEY RECEIVE A NEW ENGINE. WE WERE NOT OFFERED A LOANER VEHICLE, WE HAD TO ASK FOR A LOANER VEHICLE. OUR VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 28,000 MILES. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, APPARENTLY THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE A COOLANT LEAK INTO THE ENGINE CYLINDER. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM. MOST PEOPLE HAVE BEEN MADE TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR THIS ENGINE REPLACEMENT. WE HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND, SO FAR, HAVE NOT BEEN TOLD WE WILL BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR REPAIR. FORD HAS...
