COOLANT LEAKAGE IN CYLINDER #2..WAS TOLD NEED NEW LONG BLOCK....NEW ENGINE...NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRENTY DUE TO THE FACT FAILING PART IS NOT A LUBERCATED PART....ISN'T AN ENGINE LUBERCATED?
TURNED VEHICLE ON FROM STATIONARY POSITION ,CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, VEHICLE SPUTTERING TO STAY ON. DIAGNOSED WITH CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE AN UNDETERMINED AMOUNT OF TIMES. TOOK VEHICLE TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT ANTI-FREEZE WAS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED ENGINE UNDER WARRANTY AT 75,000 MILES. PICKED UP VEHICLE FROM DEALERSHIP, WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE CUT OFF AT 60 MILES AN HOUR AND THEN TURNED BACK ON. VEHICLE BACK AT DEALER BY TOW TRUCK (11/3/2020).
THE ENGINE STARTS ROUGH BUT CLEARS AND THE VEHICLE USES SOME RADIATOR FLUID. WE TOOK IT TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AND THE DEALER TOLD US WE NEED A NEW ENGINE. FORD HAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN OUT FOR THIS ISSUE BUT BECAUSE WE ARE OVER ON THE MILEAGE THEY WILL NOT COVER ANYTHING. WE NOW HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE THAT IS BASICALLY WORTH NOTHING. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY WILL NOT EVEN ADMIT THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS DEFECTIVE ENGINE. THE DEALER TOLD US THAT THE NEW MOTORS HAVE THE DEFECT CORRECTED. I FEEL FORD SHOULD STAND BEHIND A DEFECTIVE ENGINE BUT THEY WON'T UNTIL THE GOVERNMENT TELLS THEM TO.
I WAS TURNING LEFT FROM A STOP SIGN ACROSS TWO LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WHEN I WAS CLEAR I PRESSED THE GAS AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO MOVE. PRIOR TO CLEARING THE TWO LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THIS LEFT ME SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. I WAS NOT HIT THANKFULLY BUT THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS ISSUE IN ANOTHER SITUATION. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WITH THE CAR STALLING BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WHERE THE SITUATION LEFT ME IN DANGER. THIS STALLING IS DUE TO A MISFIRING CYLINDER BECAUSE ENGINE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. FORD HAS STATED THAT THE LONG BLOCK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $9,000. AS THE PROBLEM OCCURRED RIGHT AFTER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY ENDED, THEY REFUSE TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE...
AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR JUST OVER A YEAR, WITH 61K MILES, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I AM BEING TOLD THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AND THAT THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THIS IS NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE BUT AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE HAVE FOUND THAT IT IS A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH THIS MODEL. FORD HAS SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT UNTIL A RECALL IS ISSUED WITH MY VEHICLE BEING 1K MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. OTHERS HAVE STATED THAT FORD SERVICE HAS ADMITTED THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF COMPLAINT AND REPAIRS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I AM UNABLE TO PAY FOR A NEW ENGINE AND MY FAMILIES SAFETY IS AT RISK. WHEN TURNING THE CAR ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR IDLED ROUGH AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY. TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC AND THE CODE WAS FOR A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2. MECHANIC CHANGED SPARK PLUGS AND CLEARED THE CODE. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING OCCURRED. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AND THAT THE LONG BLOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 64,000 MILES. WITH THIS PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE ACCELERATION DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT AND THE CAR SHAKES. THIS PROBLEM IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. FORD NEEDS TO LOOK AT THE SITUATION AND DO THE RIGHT THING. THE FORD EDGE IS NOT A SAFE VEHICLE WITH THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN DESIGN.
2017 FORD EDGE WITH THE 2.0L ENGINE FAILED AT 73,143 MILES DUE TO COOLANT IN THE CYLINDERS. ORIGINAL CODE WAS A P0301 FOR MISS IN CYLINDER NUMBER ONE. REPLACED PLUGS AND COILS WITH OE FROM DEALER AND PROBLEM PERSISTED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND ENGINE VIBRATION OCCURRED WHILE RUNNING AT IDLE. THERE WAS NO SMOKE EVER FROM THE EXHAUST. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY NOTED LOW COOLANT EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NEVER AN OVERHEAT ISSUE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR CODE STORED. DEALER REFERENCED TSB 19-2346 AND SAID ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL FORD WOULD ASSUME ZERO COST. STILL OWING MONEY ON THE CAR THERE WAS NO OTHER OPTION OTHER THAN REPLACE THE ENGINE AT A COST OF $7000. GIVEN WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE FREQUENCY OF THIS SPECIFIC FAILURE COUPLED WITH THE WIDE RANGE OF MILES WHEN IT OCCURS...
ENGINE NEEDS REPLACED DUE TO LEAKING COOLANT. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BY FORD. LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS A KNOW PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A COOLANT FAILURE, CYLINDER NUMBER 2, AND THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED ORLEANS FORD (1405 S MAIN ST, MEDINA, NY 14103, (585) 798-4316) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
2017 FORD EDGE WITH 65,000 MILES. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR A DAY AND THEN WENT OFF FOR ABOUT A WEEK UNTIL IT APPEARED AGAIN. CAR STARTED ROUGH FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS( LIKE A COLD MORNING) AND THEN RAN FINE. BATTERY FAILED, DURING REPLACEMENT TURNED CAR ON TO MAKE SURE BATTERY WORKING FINE AND WHITE SMOKE POURED OUT OF EXHAUST PIPE .HAD CAR TOWED TO MY AUTO REPAIR SHOP. CYLINDER #2 FAILURE. COOLANT LEAKED INTO ENGINE. ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED. IT'S A 2L ENGINE. FORD HAS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BUT HAS HAD A MULTITUDE OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS. THE EDGE WAS MY FIRST FORD CAR, TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTING AND NOW I AM EXPECTED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE NEW ENGINE WHICH WILL RUN ABOUT $8K-$9K. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP SOON.

LOUIS, MO 63139, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE LONG BLOCK WAS DEFECTIVE AND THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
MY VEHICLE IS A 2017 WITH 87,000 MILES. FORD IS SAYING IT IS ONLY A BULLETIN AND NOT A RECALL SO I AM HAVING TO PAY FOR A NEW MOTOR OUT OF POCKET FOR A DESIGN FLAW IN THE ENGINE. I AM A RECENT COLLEGE GRAD AND WAS NOT EXPECTING TO PAY $9,000 FOR A NEW MOTOR ON A RELATIVELY NEW VEHICLE ON TOP OF MY STUDENT DEBT. I EXPECTED A FEW MORE RELIABLE YEARS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND CANNOT RISK HAVING THE ENGINE GO OUT WHILE DRIVING SO I WILL HAVE TO TRY AND GET ANOTHER VEHICLE SINCE THEIR IS NO RECALL FOR THIS...
CEL CAME ON AT 62K MILES. CYLINDER 3 MIS-FIRE FAULT. LOCAL FORD SAID COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO CYLINDER. TOLD TODAY ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED
COOLANT HAS LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE AND DESTROYED IT. THE BRAKE FLUID IS COMPLETELY GONE FROM THE BRAKES. BOTH OF THESE HAVE CAUSED A SAFETY HAZARD THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED DEATH IN MULTIPLE PEOPL.
PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED ON JULY 20, 2020 WITH 46,054 MILES. ON AUGUST 3, 2020, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, P0303 CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE DETECTED. HAD IGNITION COIL AND PLUG REPLACED ON AUGUST 6, 2020, MILEAGE OUT, 46,315. ON AUGUST 16, 2020 AT 46,530 MILES, SAME CODE CAME UP, DEALER PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE ON THE ECU ON AUGUST 20, 2020. ON SEPTEMBER 18, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AGAIN, SAME P0303 CODE AT 46,900 MILES. DEALER NOW STATES THAT I NEED A WHOLE NEW ENGINE. THIS IS THE 2.0L ENGINE WHERE MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, COOLANT SEEPING INTO THE CYLINDER(S).
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT 41200 MILES. COMPUTER SAYS P0303 MISFIRE. CAR IDLES IN PARK. DRIVES HARD. KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2017 FORD EDGE APPARENTLY MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE. LUCKILY MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEY'VE AGREED TO COVER THE FULL COST OF AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT. OTHERS NOT WO LUCKY. FORD KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE AND CHARGING 10 GRAND TO REPAIR WHEN ITS REALLY AT NO FAULT OF THE CONSUMERS OWN. IM SCARED TO EVEN GET MY CAR BACK IF THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN AFTER MY WARRANTY IS UP. FORD REALLY SHOULD CORRECT THIS KNOW ISSUE ON ALL 2017 EDGES WHERE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE PISTONS CAUSING MISFIRE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE SECOND CYLINDER IS MISFIRING DUE TO COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDER. THEY HAVE TOLD ME THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED USING A NEW LONG BLOCK AT 103,002 MILES.
MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND OFF. READING CYLINDER 2 MISFIRING. REPLACE PLUGS AND IGNITION COILS RECEIVED SAME ERROR. ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGHER AND WHITE SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM EXHAUST. VEHICLE OVERHEATED IN THE MIDDLE IF THE FREEWAY WITH MY CHILDREN INSIDE. I FILLED THE COOLANT AND NEXT DAY IT WAS EMPTY AGAIN. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC. COOLANT LEAKING INTO CYLINDER 2. ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED. HAPPENED BEFORE 60,000 MILES BUT BECAUSE I TOOK IT AFTER 60,000 MILES WARRANTY WAS OUT.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS OUT OF TOWN. I TOOK IT TO THE CLOSET FORD. THEY LET ME KNOW THAT THE SECOND CYLINDER IS MISFIRING. THIS IS HAPPENING BECAUSE COOLANT HAS LEAKED INTO. THEY STATED THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE AND REPLACE THE LONG BLOCK.
THERE IS COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE COOLANT DAILY, AND IF NOT, THE CAR OVERHEATS MAKING IT A HAZARD ON THE ROADS. ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGHER AND WHITE SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM EXHAUST. NOTICED COOLANT LEVEL WAS LOW WHICH WAS OUT OF THE NORM. I CHECKED OIL AND IT WAS A MILKLY COLOR WHICH MEANS COOLANT IS IN OIL. GOING TO TAKE TO A SHOP THIS WEEK TO DETERMINE ISSUE/ISSUES GOING ON. IT IS A 2017 FORD EDGE WITH ONLY 76,000 MILES.
I STARTED HAVING PROBLEM WITH MY CAR AROUND 60K MILES, AND THE SHOP INFORMED ME I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. FORD HAS KNOW ABOUT THIS DEFECTED ENGINES AND DID NOT DO A RECALL AND STILL SOLD THESE CARS TO PEOPLE WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF A DEFECTED ENGINE. THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MECHANIC BOTH ADMITTED IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND SAID THERE IS A TSB BULLETIN ON THE ISSUE. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE FAILURE OF THE FORD PRODUCT.

HE TOLD US THAT THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS VEHICLE AND THAT THE ENGINE MOST LIKELY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED NEWBERG FORD AND MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT. WE TOOK IT IN AND AFTER A DAY IN A HALF WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS INDEED AN ENGINE DEFECT AND THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE...

WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED NEWBERG FORD AND MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT. WE TOOK IT IN AND AFTER...
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CODE WAS P0302, INITIAL INPUT FROM FORD DEALER, CHANGE SPARK PLUGS, 98XXX MILES, PROBABLY DUE FOR A TUNE-UP. MAINTENANCE PERFORMED, CODE RESET. ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON, AND ENGINE COOLANT OVERTEMPT INDICATION WHILE DRIVING INTO WORK, LOW ON ANTI-FREEZE, TAKEN TO DIFFERENT FORD DEALER THAT SAME AFTERNOON, BORESCOPE OF CYLINDER 2 INDICATES LEAKAGE OF ANTIFREEZE INTO THE CYLINDER TOLD THAT ENGINE LONGBLOCK WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER ON BEHALF OF THE VEHICLE OWNER HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER DECLINED TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 61,900.

I WAS DRIVING GOING 35 MPH ACCELERATING TO 40 MPH AS I WAS ON THE INSIDE LANE OF THREE LANES ENTERING THE STATE HIGHWAY TO GO OVER THE BRIDGE WHEN MY INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON SHOWING OVER HEATING AND I LOST POWER. ENGINE IS FORD 2.0 L ECOBOOST. HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS ENTRIES ON FORUMS OF CONSUMERS THAT HAVE THE SAME DEFECTIVE ENGINE. MILEAGE IS 25 MILES BEYOND THE 60,000 POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. CEL WAS STILL ON, RAN A COMPRESSION TEST AND SAW COOLANT BEING SQUIRTED OUT OF CYL 2, SIGNIFYING EITHER A CRACKED HEAD, OR BLOWN HEAD GASKET. CONTACTED FORD, WHO REFERRED ME TO THE LOCAL DEALER, WENT INTO DEALER AND WAS QUOTED $200 FOR JUST THE "DIAGNOSTIC." MADE ME AWARE THAT FORD MAY REQUIRE A TEAR DOWN BEFORE EVEN EXTENDING ASSISTANCE IN THE REPAIR. SINCE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY PERIOD I WAS QUOTED $4400 FOR TEAR DOWN. VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.
