2017 FORD EDGE Wheels Problems

2017 Ford Edge, front axle and ball joint had to be replaced around 33K- still under extended warranty.. Now same or opposite ball joint /axle making click/ ping at 43K no longer under warranty, cant tell left or right axle/ball joint. Will have to take it in to ford at Melbourne Fl at personal expense.. Probably next month...

Today, during a routine tire replacement (4 tires) due to tire wear, I was told by Big Box service facility that the lug nuts on my vehicle all were swollen and they could not address as they had no parts. I consider this an unsafe condition that I have been put in. My next step is to take it to the dealer. I will keep you posted!

I took my 2017 Ford Edge to a Ford Dealer to get an oil change and tires rotating on he rear of the vehicle; however, they told me that the lug nuts on both rear wheels have the two piece lug nuts that Ford put on several of their vehicles that have swollen and delaminated rendering the vehicle’s lug wrench and their wrench useless. So needless to say, they were not able to fulfill the works service I pad for that included the oil change, fluid check and tire rotation. So in the event I get a flat tire, or when I decide to get new tires, I'm going to have to a Ford dealer and pay a premium for tires (I just had the front tires done 2 weeks agao and got Goodyear ties for $161 each, whereas Ford quoted me almost $260 per for the same tire). Twice this weekend, when I parking on a steep driveway, I put the shift lever into the park position, I turned off the vehicle and began to exit the vehicle. When I released my foot pressure on the brake pedal, the Ford Edge began to roll backward. I had to reapply pressure to the brake pedal and then engage the emergency brake to stop the vehicle from rolling. I understand that in June 2022 Ford issued a recall for almost 3 million vehicles including 509K Ford Edge models (between the years of 2015 - 2018), however my vin number was not included in the recall - [XXX] . - Yes, my safety and the safety of others was put at risk. - I am waiting to hear back from the dealership to schedule an appointment - No one has inspected the vehicle components yet (waiting to hear back from dealership...

Wheels on the 2017 ford edge with 20 inch wheels keeps cracking where tire bead seat is.

I have a flat tire but could not remove the lug nuts with the wrench provided when I purchased the vehicle. There are complaints on line that these lug nuts become swollen with time. When the vehicle was new the wrench worked fine. Ford would not replace the lug nuts at no charge. My tire shop confirmed that this is a common problem with ford lug nuts. Thank you.

Lug nuts swelled and had to be replaced

Tires were getting rotated when they told me the lug nuts were swollen and needed to be replaced. Please make this right. I already had to pay extra for the tires when getting new ones and now $146 to get lug nuts replaced. The car is 6 years old. Not to mention the safety issue of this-tire can fall off and possibly unable to change tire if there is a flat.

Took my car in for oil change and tire rotation. I was called that all 20 of my lug nuts have to be replaced due to swelling. For $180, which I’ve never in my life had to replace the lug nuts on any other vehicle I’ve owned. Not just one but all 20 need to be replaced.

SWOLLEN LUG NUTS - On 26 September 2022, my right rear tire picked up a nail causing a flat tire. After removing the spare, lug wrench and jack, I found the Ford factory lug wrench would not fit on the lug nuts. I required road side assistance for which I was billed $95 for the call (subsequently reimbursed by my insurance company). When the road side assistance serviceman arrived, he said it was a common Ford problem. He had larger sockets and easily installed the spare. I purchased replacement 20 lug nuts for $42.39. Reimbursement would be appropriate. Fortunately, the event occurred mid day in temperate weather in a small town where I could easily pull out of traffic. If it would have occurred during the dark during inclement weather, the outcome may have been disastrous. A recall for replacement of these lug nuts is appropriate.

Swollen Lug Nuts.. Grand Ledge Ford, would not rotate and balance tires due to swollen lug nuts. Was informed the lug nuts should be replaced. Also told it is a known problem with Ford using the two piece lug nuts.

"Other" - I've had to replace the CV joint on the same side twice in the last two years. -Yes you can inspect. -Safety was not at risk, I don't think. -I had them fixed at Pauli Ford in St. Johns, MI. -No warning lights. 2. "Wheel" - The lugnuts are swollen on all 4 wheels. -Yes you can inspect. -Safety and safety of others were at risk. -I'm getting them fixed at Costco with a full set of new tires. -No warning lights
