The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the parking brake warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to move, and the brake fluid warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the parking brake could not be reset. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was advised to take the vehicle back to the dealer where the vehicle was purchased for assistance. The contact stated that the dealer had gone out of business. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The contact stated that while waiting for the scheduled diagnostic testing appointment, the contact discovered how to release the parking brake. The contact’s wife owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the parking brake inadvertently actuated. The contact stated that he was notified by his wife of the failure. The contact was able to direct his wife on how to disable the parking brake. The contact’s wife was able to disable the parking brake to proceed driving the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to Monroe Brakes, but the failure could not be duplicated. The contact then stated that on a separate occasion while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the wheels locked. As a result, smoke was seen coming from the wheels.
