I WAS DRIVING TO WORK IN THE EARLY MORNING, ALL OF A SUDDEN ENGINE STARTED MAKING SOME WIRED NOISE AND WITHIN NEXT 2 MIN VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF FREEWAY (SOMEHOW MANAGED TO PULL IT OUT TO SHOULDER) COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL INJURY, THEN TOWED THE VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, THEY FOUND THAT ENGINE SIZED BECAUSE OF WATERPUMP BREAKDOWN,(IT DIDN'T GIVE ME NO TIME TO TAKE THAT INTO DEALER ) HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN FOR SUCH A LOW MILES AND ABT 5.5 YEARS OLD AND WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE, WAS COMPLAINED ABT THIS TO TOYOTA BUT DIDN'T GET A SATISFACTORY ANSWERS. *TR
VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND HAS PERFORMED WELL TO THIS POINT BUT THE OTHER DAY THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT FLASHED A COUPLE TIMES. A CHECK SHOWED THE LEVEL COMPLETELY OFF THE STICK AND TOOK 2.5 QUARTS TO FILL. ENGINE OIL HAD JUST BEEN CHANGED 2500 MILES PREVIOUS TO THIS. SINCE FILLING TO THE MARK, IT HAS USED AN ADDITIONAL .5 QUARTS IN THE LAST 500 MILES. CAR IS GARAGED WHEN NOT BEING DRIVEN AND DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE LEAKING (NO SPOTS ON GARAGE FLOOR). SOME SOOT IN TAIL PIPE BUT IS NOT SMOKING. I HAVE OWNED ~9 DIFFERENT CARS AND NEVER HAD ONE USE OIL LIKE THIS. INFORMATION ON TOYOTA'S WEB SITE INDICATES THIS IS NORMAL. VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED WITH DEFECTIVE ENGINE. *TR
I OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BURNING MORE OIL THAN USUAL. THE CHECK OIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED OFTEN. THE CONTACT HAD THE OIL CHANGED AT 69,000 MILES AND THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THERE WAS LESS THAN HALF A QUART OF OIL LEFT AT APPROXIMATELY 74,000 MILES. THE CONTACT HAD THE OIL CHANGED AGAIN AND THE SAME ISSUE RECURRED. *TR
OIL SIGN ON DASH WAS LIGHTING UP (ON AND OFF) - CHECKED OIL IN VEHICLE - TOTALLY EMPTY . NO OIL LEAKS EVER ! HAVE NO IDEA WHERE IT WENT . I HAD LAST OIL CHANGE AROUND 3,000 MILES AGO. LAST COUPLE OF TIMES I HAD MY OIL CHANGES DONE - SERVICE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT MY ENGINE OIL WAS EXTREMELY LOW , AND THAT THEY SAW NO LEAKS . I WENT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND SCORES OF THE SAME COMPLAINT , ABOUT THE 2007 CAMRY , 4 CYL.. JUDGING BY ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS I'VE READ IT IS QUITE APPARENT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO TOYOTA'S ATTENTION . THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED AND PROPERLY FIXED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V491000 (VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS) AND SINCE THEN, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE RPM GAUGE FLUCTUATES WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AS USUAL AND NOTICED RED ENGINE OIL LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I BRAKE FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL WHEN I GOT HOME AND REALIZED THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE DIP STICK AT ALL! SEEMS LIKE TOYOTA HASN'T BEEN HONEST ABOUT THEIR PRODUCTS POTENTIAL PROBLEMS LATELY. PLEASE PRESSURE TOYOTA TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. OTHERWISE I WILL NEVER BUY ANY TOYOTA PRODUCT AGAIN. ENGINE MADE KNOCKING NOISE. INSPECTION BY TOYOTA DEALER REVEALED ENGINE MAIN BEARING PROBLEMS PROBABLY RESULTING FROM LOW OIL PRESSURE OR OIL DEPLETION. POSSIBLE FAULTY PISTON RINGS WITH THIS ENGINE/YEAR 2007. THIS PROBLEM IS REPORTEDLY COMMON WITH THIS 4 CYLINDER ENGINE, BUT I DO NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT DATA TO BETTER ASSESS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THEY WANTED TO RUN A CONSUMPTION TEST. THE CONSUMPTION TEST WAS NOT PERFORMED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE TO THE CONTACT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHEN I DO 70K MILES MAINTENANCE IN TOYOTA DEALER, THEY TOLD ME MY CAR HAS WATER PUMP LEAK, OIL PAN GASKET LEAK AND FRONT STRUTS LEAK. AND I HEARD MANY CAMRY OWNER SUFFERED FROM WATER PUMP LEAK. I THINK IT IS POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE. SO I REPORT THIS. NO ACCIDENT HAPPEN. *TR

MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY ENGINE HAS BEEN BURNING OIL FOR THE LAST ONE YEAR. THERE ARE SIGNIFICANT SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE THAT CAN DAMAGE THE ENGINE VERY SOON. IF I DON'T FILL THE ENGINE WITH ADDITIONAL OIL BETWEEN TWO OIL CHANGES, WHEN ITS TIME TO CHANGE OIL, NOTHING COMES OUT FROM THE ENGINE - THE ENTIRE OIL IS BEING BURNT BY THE ENGINE AND THE RED OIL CHANGE SIGN COMES OUT WHILE DRIVING. BOUGHT THIS CAMRY NEW IN 2007 FOR MY WIFE. I'VE MAINTAINED IT AS PER MFG SCHEDULE. THE TECH FOUND NO OIL LEAKS.. HE MENTIONED THAT HE HAD HEARD OF CAMRYS HAVING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEMS. WENT ON INTERNET, FOUND A LOT OF OTHER OWNERS OF CAMRYS, THIS AGE & WITH AROUND THE SAME MILEAGE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT IN MY OIL CONSUMPTION CHECK, AFTER ABOUT 3000 MILES, I'VE BURNED ABOUT 1.5 QUARTS OIL, ACCORDING TO THEM. THE CAR NOW HAS ABOUT 45K ON IT, AND I SAY IT SHOULDN'T BE BURNING SO MUCH OIL. WHAT A SHAME THE TOYOTA CAR QUALITY IT IS AS I WAS ALWAYS REGULARLY MAINTAINED MY CAR BY TOYOTA DEALER. *TR

HI, I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY IN FEBRUARY OF 2007. FAST FORWARD 5 YEARS AND 114K MILES AND MY CAR WON'T KEEP OIL IN IT. NO LEAKS, THE CAR BURNS OIL! I CALLED A FRIEND WHO IS ACTUALLY A TOYOTA TECHNICIAN AND HE SAID OIL BURNING IN THE 2007 CAMRYS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. A GOOGLE SEARCH PROOVES IT. THERE ARE TONS OF POSTS FROM ANGRY, ONCE LOYAL TOYOTA OWNERS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. TOYOTA IS VERY AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT THEY SAY IT IS "NORMAL" FOR THEIR CARS TO BURN A QUART EVERY 600 MILES SO WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO, YOU SHOULD JUST KEEP PUTTING OIL IN THE CAR.
