LOSING ENGINE OIL AFTER 1000 MILES . HAVE TO BE A ENGINE FAULT .
I HAVE RECENTLY EXPERIENCED A SEVERE OIL LOSS IN MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH 97000 MILES. I HAVE ALWAYS COMPLETED TIMELY SCHEDULED OIL CHANGES AND NEVER HAVE HAD AN ISSUE UNTIL TWO WEEKS AGO. THE FIRESTONE DEALER WHERE I HAVE MY VEHICLE SERVICED DETERMINED I HAD A SEVERE OIL LOSS AND CAN'T LOCATE WHERE MY OIL LEAK IS ORIGINATING FROM. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED TOYOTA HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THE LOCAL TOYOTA SERVICE DEALER HAS NOT RETURNED MY CALLS. IN ADDITION THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED IN SPRING 2014 FOR THIS ISSUE WITH NUMEROUS TOYOTA MODELS.
ENGINE COILS KEEP GOING BAD HAD IT REPLACED AT THE TOYOTA DEALER AND CONTINUES TO FAIL. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN AS I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATION IT WOULD ONLY REACH 30 MPH, AND MY CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO SHUT OFF. I ALMOST CRASHED DUE TO THAT INCIDENT NOT TO MENTION IT CONTINUES HAPPEN. I CAN NOT AFFORD THAT NOR ANY HARM TO MY CHILDREN. THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT IS LOCKED, AND UNABLE TO USE. I HAD MY POWER WINDOW ALSO FAILED TO WORK ON SOME OCCASIONS I HAVE TO MANUALLY PUSH IT UP. I SO LOVE MY TOYOTA BUT THERE ARE ALSO 8 OTHER RECALL TO WHICH I CAN ALSO RELATE TO.
MY CAR HAS BEEN BURNING UP OIL SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED IT IN 2006. I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY AND HAVE BEEN RECENTLY RESEARCHING THIS EXCESSIVE OIL PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD NO LETTER FROM TOYOTA ABOUT IT, BUT I SEE THAT THE TOYOTA DEALERS HAVE GOTTEN A BULLETIN ABOUT THIS. WHEN I ACTUALLY NOTICED THE PROBLEM IT WAS BECAUSE MY CAR WAS MAKING STRANGE NOISES AND I DECIDED TO CHECK MY FLUID LEVELS. MY OIL LIGHT NEVER COMES ON TO MAKE ME AWARE THAT MY CAR IS LOW ON OIL. THEN I CHECK THE DIPSTICK TO SEE THAT IT IS DRY!!! MY CAR NOW HAS 154,000 MILES ON IT AND THE PROBLEM IS GETTING EVEN WORSE. I HAVE HAD TO ADD A QUART OF OIL EVER 400 MILES. THIS IS NOT NEW TO ME SINCE I BUY OIL CONSTANTLY AND CHECK MY DIPSTICK EVERY OTHER DAY. I JUST RECENTLY...
USES EXCESSIVE OIL - OIL IS LOW BEFORE IT IS TIME FOR SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE. WHEN MOTOR IS PUT IN REVERSE, THE MOTOR VIBRATES ( EVEN THE FRONT SEATS). IT VIBRATES AND MAKES NOISES WHEN DRIVING OR JUST IDLE.
I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SE AND FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY CAR NOT STARTING IF IT IS ON UNLEVEL GROUND. I ASSUMED IT WAS SOMETHING IN THE GAS I HAD RECENTLY PURCHASED BUT THAT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE THE CASE. I RECENTLY HAD IT CHECKED OUT BY A MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THAT IT HAD TO BE A SENSOR IN THE FUEL PUMP CAUSING MY CAR TO RESPOND IN ONE OF TWO WAYS: 1) THERE WAS NO GAS IN THE TANK OR 2) THE ANTITHEFT SENSOR WAS ON AND THE CAR DOESN'T START IF THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STOLEN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS CONSUMING OIL EXCESSIVELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING UP TO SPECIFICATIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
FOR MANY MONTHS I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION SOON AFTER CAR BEING SERVICED. LESS THAN 2 WEEKS OIL HAS DEPLETED. CAUSING ENGINE NOT TO START OR STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC THAN CAN CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT OR A POSSIBLE FIRE BECAUSE NO OIL. THEREFORE AFFECTING OTHER PARTS OF THE CAR EVENTUALLY. TOYOTA HAS RELEASED EXTENDED WARRANTY AND KNEW ABOUT THIS MATTER FOR A FEW YEARS NOW. BUT ARE TELLING ITS CUSTOMERS THEY ARE WORKING ON PUTTING PART TOGETHER TO REPLACE THOSE PARTS AT THEIR EXPENSE. HOWEVER, AS CUSTOMERS, WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED DATES OF WHEN OUR VEHICLES WILL BE FIXED.
I BOUGHT A USED 2007 CAMRY FROM TOYOTA DEALER. SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT IT, THE ENGINE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. SO I IMMEDIATELY CHANGED THE OIL. BUT EVERY 1500 MILES AFTER THE OIL CHANGE, THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I TOLD THE DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THEY KEEP ON SAYING THIS IS NORMAL.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. TOOK VEHICLE INTO DEALER WITH COMPLAINT OF ENGINE VALVE NOISE. DEALER SAID NO WAY VALVE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR CARS AT THAT MILEAGE. LEFT WITH $1800 IN NON-ASSOCIATED REPAIRS. NOTICED ACCELERATING CONSUMPTION OF OIL. TRIED AGAIN TO GET A FIX WITH PCV VALVE AND ALL FILTERS REPLACED. CONSTANTLY TOPPING OFF WITH OIL BETWEEN REGULAR OIL CHANGES. WOULDN'T ACCEPT THE FACT THAT ENGINE VALVE SEALS WERE DEFECTIVE. NOT ON A TOYOTA WITH LESS THAN 90,000 MILES. FINALLY DID A MONITORING TEST A MONTH AGO AND REALIZED MY CAR HAD CONSUMED 4 QUARTS OF OIL IN ABOUT 1600 MILES. THE FIX COST ME ABOUT $2000. THEN I CHECK THIS WEBSITE ONLY TO FIND ABOUT 100 SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY'S. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND TOYOTA'S CLAIM IN MY OWNER'S MANUAL THAT 1.1 QTS PER 600 MILES IS ACCEPTABLE IS RIDICULOUS. I'M CHECKING FOR PARTICIPATION IN A CLASS-ACTION SUIT. THEY NEED...
AFTER EVERY 1,000 I NEED TO ADD A QUART OF OIL. IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES, EVERY 4,000 MILES, I NEED TO ADD 4 QUARTS OF OIL. WHERE IS THIS OIL GOING? I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, AND AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP I HEARD A WARNING DING, LOOKED DOWN, AND MY DASHBOARD READ "LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE." GOT AN OIL CHANGED AND ABOUT 3 WEEKS AFTER HEARD ENGINE MAKING A FUNNY KNOCKING AND TICKING SOUND. LOOKED UNDER HOOD TO CHECK FLUIDS AND THE OIL WAS COMPLETELY DRY! HAD TO FILL IT UP W QUARTS OF OIL, AND CONSTANTLY DUMP OIL INTO ENGINE BECAUSE IT WAS BURNING UP SO RAPIDLY EVERY 2/3 WEEKS, MATE NICE LIGHT WOULD COME ON INDICATING LOW OIL, RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA INDICATING THEY HAVE A PROBLEM W THE CAR CONSUMING ENGINE OIL TO RAPIDLY, CONFRONTED THE LOCAL DEALER SHIP OF MY ISSUE N THEY INSIST I MUST PAY OUT OF POCKET TO REPAIR ENGINE WHICH NOW IS KNOCKING VERY LOUDLY N HAS NO ACCELERATION AT 95.00 AN HR THEN THEY CAN PERFORM ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST TO DETERMINE IF THAT WAS THE REASON FOR MY FAILURE! I WAS SHOCKED TO LEARN FROM THEIR STAFF THAT TOYOTA WAS CONSIDERING REPLACING MY ENGINE IF IT DID INDEED BURN A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. I MEAN COME ON---THE CAR HAS 180K MILES ON IT. NEVER THE LESS, I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE IDEA. THEY "SEALED" THE OIL CAP SO NO ONE COULD TAMPER WITH THE OIL LEVEL. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD TOPPED OFF THE OIL LEVEL. I PUT ANOTHER 1200 MILES ON IT AND RETURNED THE CAR AS INSTRUCTED, TO ALLOW THEM TO "PERFORM A DETAILED TEST TO DETERMINE IF THE ENGINE WAS CONSUMING A QUART EVERY 1000 MILES. I AM ONE OF MANY COMPLAINANTS THAT HAVE EXCESS OIL CONSUMPTION WITH THIS CAR. I AM USING AT LEAST 1 QUART EVERY 1,000 MILES. *TR
MY 2007 CAMRY IS CONSUMING AROUND 3 QUARTS BETWEEN 3000MILES OIL CHANGE INTERVALS. THIS CONSUMPTION IS QUITE HIGH BY ANY STANDARD. MY CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN MAINTAINED IN A TIMELY MANNER. WE BOUGHT THIS BRAND NEW 2007 CAMRY FROM DEALER BACK IN 2006. IT HAS BEEN MAINTAINED THROUGH TOYOTA DEALERS (LONGO TOYOTA MOST OF TIME) SINCE THEN. IN JAN 2012, THE ENGINE SOUNDED ABNORMAL. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS OIL "LEAKING" AND THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. WE PAID OUT OF OWN POCKET TO FIX THE "OIL LEAKING" AS SUGGESTED BY THE DEALER, BUT THE OIL STILL KEEPS DISAPPEARING AFTER AROUND 2000 MILES' DRIVING. I PROCEEDED AND WHEN TRYING TO STOP CAR THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD BECOME VERY TIGHT TO WERE I HAD TO STOMP ON BRAKES WITH ALL MY MIGHT TO GET CAR TO STOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOUD BANG SOUND AND SMOKE APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
VEHICLE LEAKS OR BURNS OIL IN EXCESS FROM UNKNOWN LOCATION OR UNDISCLOSED LOCATION BY MANUFACTURER. NO OIL VISIBLE ON GROUND UNDERNEATH CAR . ENGINE WAS NOT GETTING ADEQUATE LUBRICATION DUE TO THIS PROBLEM AND THUS CAUSED ENGINE FAILURE. VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO ACCELERATE ON FREEWAY AND HAD TO BE PULLED OVER PUTTING VEHICLE OWNER AT RISK AND OTHER DRIVERS ON ROAD IN DANGER. THE ENGINE IS NOW DAMAGED AND IS UNABLE TO BE REPAIRED DESPITE PROPER MAINTENANCE AND RECOMMENDED OIL CHANGES AS PER DEALERSHIP AND OWNERS MANUAL. THE ENGINE NOW HAS TO BE REPLACED. THIS LEAKAGE HAS BEEN REPORTED BY OVER HUNDREDS OF UNSATISFIED CUSTOMERS AND HAS PURPOSELY BEEN DISREGARDED BY MANUFACTURER DESPITE THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS RECEIVED AND MADE BY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY OWNERS. MANY OF WHICH SUFFERED LIKE THIS OWNER AND HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A NEW ENGINE DESPITE THIS BEING A MANUFACTURER DEFECT...
AS I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 CAMRY, THE CAR JUST CUT OFF. PRIOR TO CUTTING OFF, THE BATTERY LIGHT FLASHED AND THE CARE HESITATED. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND IT CRANK BACK UP BUT SPUTTERED. THEN THE CAR RAN FINE. ALSO, THE CAR IS BURNING A GREAT DEAL OF OIL. *TR
THIS ENGINE HAS HIGH ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION, THERE IS NO VISIBLE LEAKS, NO BLUE SMOKE INDICATION, AND OIL LAMP KEEPS GOING OF ON STOPS AND ACCELERATION. WHEN THAT HAPPENS IS BECAUSE THE ENGINE OIL IS LOW, EVEN AFTER REGULAR OIL CHANGES AT MILEAGE AND DATED RECOMMENDATIONS TOYOTA DO HAVE A HISTORY OF THIS IN LATE 90' WITH V6 MODELS DUE TO OIL SLUGGISH AND APPEARS IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS IS ALSO SAFETY CONCERN CAUSE THE VEHICLE MIGHT CEASED DURING OPERATION AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT ON OUR NATIONAL HIGHWAYS. IN EARLY 2014 OUR 2007 CAMRY 4-CYLINDER WAS GETTING A GENERAL LOOK OVER. IT WAS DISCOVERED THERE WAS BARELY ANY OIL TOUCHING THE TIP OF THE DIP STICK. WE IMMEDIATELY HAD THE OIL CHANGED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC. I THEN STATED TO HIM THAT THE DIP STICK WAS SHOWING A TINY AMOUNT OF OIL ON THE TIP OF THE STICK AND THAT IT SURELY HAD NO OIL. HE THEN TOLD ME THAT WHEN IT WAS DRAINED IT DID HAVE SOME OIL REMAINING. IT ALMOST SEEMS THAT THE DIPSTICK DOES NOT PROPERLY MEASURE THE OIL. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE MATTER AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE IS A GROWING ISSUE INVOLVING OIL CONSUMPTION ON THESE ENGINES ACROSS NUMEROUS MODELS. IT ALSO SEEMS BIZARRE THAT THEY STATE IN THE OWNERS MANUAL WHAT TOYOTA CONSIDERS NORMAL ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION: 1 QUART PER 1,200 MILES. IF THE CAR ONLY HOLDS SLIGHTLY OVER 4 LITERS...
WITH THE 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY, I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND HAVE NO COMPLAINTS UP TO THIS POINT. EACH RECALL OR ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY WAS HANDLED AS EXPECTED. MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SE 2.4L 2AZ-FE BURNS THROUGH OIL AT AN UNUSUAL RATE. SO UNUSUAL THAT I'M FORCED TO KEEP A KEEN EYE ON IT EVERY FEW WEEKS. THERE ARE NO LEAKS. I TOOK MY CAR FOR AN OIL CHANGE AT 85 THOUSAND MILES TO A LOCAL MECHANIC , AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY CARD DID NOT HAVE MUCH OIL, OF COURSE I BLAMED THEM, I THOUGHT THEY WERE LYING. ON DECEMBER 29, 2012 THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE 4 FRONT STRUTS. FEBRUARY 2014 TOOK THE CAR FOR AN OIL CHANGE 85 THOUSAND MILES. TOLD THAT MY CARD DID NOT HAVE MUCH OIL, OF COURSE I BLAMED THEM, I THOUGHT THEY WERE LYING. BECAUSE I ALWAYS HAVE MY OIL CHANGE EVERY 5 THOUSAND MILES, SO I ASKED THEM TO CHECK THEIR RECORDS. EARLIER THIS YEAR, MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY STARTED PRODUCING SOME WHITISH SMOKE WHEN STARTING THE ENGINE. MORE RECENTLY, THE ENGINE BEGAN SOUNDING NOISY WHEN ACCELERATING - MORE OF A RATTLE OR CLACKING THAN A KNOCKING SOUND. I HAD IT CHECKED OUT AND THE MECHANIC DIDN'T SEE ANY LEAKS, BUT MENTIONED THAT IT COULD BE ENGINE COMPONENTS THAT WERE MACHINED PROPERLY AND STARTED TO SHOW AS THE CAR GOT MORE MILEAGE. WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY A COUPLE WEEKS AGO AT 70MPH, MY CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND THE ENGINE WAS SOUNDING WORSE AND WORSE. I MANAGED TO GET TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY JUST BEFORE THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND DIED OUT. WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR, THERE WAS A LOUD BANGING AND CLANGING IN THE MOTOR AND THE MOTOR THEN DIED. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT MY CAR HAD THROWN A ROD AND IT SHREDDED THE MOTOR....

MAINTENANCE INTERVALS WERE CLOSELY ADHERED TO, AND NO PROBLEMS WERE EVER REPORTED BY THE SERVICE PEOPLE REGARDING ENGINE PERFORMANCE OR OIL CONSUMPTION. DURING A DECEMBER 2013 VEHICLE SERVICE AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP, SERVICE TECHNICIAN REPORTED THAT THE OIL PAN SEAL AND THE VALVE COVER GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO OIL LEAKAGE. I (OWNER) INSPECT VEHICLE FREQUENTLY, AND KNEW THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. BETWEEN VEHICLE SERVICING DATES, I CHECKED THE OIL AND FOUND IT TO BE TOO LOW TO REGISTER ON THE OIL DIPSTICK. I ADDED THE GRADE OF OIL INDICATED ON THE OIL FILL CAP AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT AN INDEPENDENT CERTIFIED AUTO SHOP. I ALSO INSPECTED THE ENGINE FREQUENTLY FOR LEAKAGE AT THE OIL PAN AND VALVE COVER, AND OBSERVED NO OIL LEAKS.THE INDEPENDENT CERTIFIED SHOP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, AND FOUND NO SIGNS OF...

AT APPROXIMATELY 50K MILES, WHEN TURNING CORNERS MY ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS STALLING, THE ACCELERATOR DID NOT WORK, AND A "LOW ENGINE FUEL" WARNING CAME ON. OUR FOUR-CYLINDER CAMRY LE WITH 141,000 ON THE ODOMETER WAS JUST DIAGNOSED WITH "LOW-END BEARING NOISE," MEANING THE ENGINE HAS SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS HAPPENED AFTER A VERY "HARD START" THAT SOUNDED LIKE THE ENGINE HAD NO OIL IN IT. A VERY DISTURBING SOUND. WE HAVE RUN THIS CAR ON SYNTHETIC OIL (AND TOP-RATED OIL FILTERS) SINCE THE FIRST OIL CHANGE, AND ALMOST ALL THE 141,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER ARE HIGHWAY MILES IN THE MID-ATLANTIC.
