This is a follow-up to NHTSA Complaint Number 11684726, submitted to provide additional information after the dealer diagnosis confirmed the defect. My 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara has experienced a complete Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) failure, which has been diagnosed and confirmed by an authorized Jeep dealership. The instrument cluster remains blank during vehicle operation and is available for inspection upon request. As a result, I cannot view critical safety information including the speedometer, fuel level, warning lamps, turn signals, and other required driver displays. This creates a significant safety risk, as I am unable to monitor vehicle speed or receive warning indicators while driving. The vehicle has also experienced related electronic failures consistent with network communication disruption, including loss of the center infotainment display, radio failure, and HVAC malfunction with the defroster stuck in full operation and unresponsive to controls. Stellantis has declined repair assistance despite dealer confirmation. This failure...

My 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara is experiencing a complete and permanent failure of the instrument panel cluster, which has gone entirely black. This is the exact safety defect described in Recall 24V-652 (Jeep Recall Code 30B), yet my VIN is currently being excluded from coverage. This is a severe safety hazard as I have suffered a total loss of critical safety information; I cannot see my vehicle speed, fuel level, engine temperature, or any vital warning lights while driving. This defect leaves me unable to monitor the vehicle's operation, significantly increasing the risk of a crash or being stranded, and a local dealership has quoted me thiusands to repair this known manufacturing defect. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate why my vehicle is excluded from this recall despite exhibiting identical hardware failure symptoms.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 - 65 MPH, the instrument panel suddenly failed to illuminate, then completely went black. While attempting to fix the failure, an image of the type of vehicle was displayed, and the instrument panel illuminated intermittently. Over time, the instrument panel only illuminated with a blue light but failed to display the temperature, mileage, and other necessary safety information. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

My 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has experienced repeated no-start failures and electrical/CAN-bus communication issues. The vehicle has intermittently failed to start and ultimately became completely inoperable. Due to the electrical failure, the vehicle was towed to an authorized Jeep dealership on June 8, 2025. Despite remaining in the dealership’s possession for several months, no diagnostic testing or repairs have been completed. The electrical failure prevents safe and reliable operation of the vehicle and poses a risk of being stranded without warning. As of December 2025, the vehicle remains inoperable and unrepaired.

Dash cluster will go blank upon starting. This has happened every few weeks since I bought it in Nov 2019. Reported to local dealership in ealry 2020, but when you turn off Jeep, the next time it restarts, everything looks fine and they could not reproduce the problem at the dealership and had no answers as they had not seen it before, as no codes were being given. I never went back since i was told they had no answers. When it happens, you are driving blind-No digital speedometer, warning lights or gas gauge when it happens. Now the most recent issue, the security system light comes on randomly upon starting. Also have to push start button more than once to get it to actually start, so this could be different issues. A recall for the cluster finally came out last year i think, but my Jeep was not on...

When shifting into reverse, the rear camera feed would not appear on screen. I tried shifting into other gears and back into reverse multiple times, and it did not appear any time the vehicle was in reverse. The gear indicator did show that the vehicle was in reverse. The display for the rear parking sensors did appear on the instrument cluster, but there were no obstacles at the time, so I do not know if the sensors or the rear cross traffic warning were functioning as intended. I did not observe any other warnings or symptoms of a problem. This issue only persisted for one drive cycle. I drove home without the rear camera that day, and the next time the car was started, the rear camera feed was working again. Since it has worked ever since, I have not had anyone inspect the vehicle about this problem. I did...

Unknown, but when I attempted to accelerate onto a highway, and the engine threw the check engine light along with the electric throttle light and the traction control system. The battery was still show 14.3volts, the oil pressure was in range and the temperature of the engine was normal. The vehicle wouldn't go faster than about 20-25mph with out shifting hard and or the RPMs rev high to shift. The mechanic said both batteries are shot and the electric mapping system maybe faulty.

We found cracks in the battery from swelling. We know for certain that the BPCM needs to be replaced. This issue is the same one the NRTA did a recall on for 2020+ Jeep Wrangler models. I had the issue fixed (was un-driveable) and it cost me over $4000. Looking for detail on why 2018 models weren’t considered in the latest recall.
#11696420 |
On August 6, 2025, while driving at approximately 65 mph on the highway, the vehicle experienced a sudden and total loss of motive power. The engine warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle would not accelerate, forcing an emergency maneuver across multiple lanes of traffic to reach the shoulder. This failure occurred just one day after a warranty repair for the same issue, and followed a previous 199-day repair for a known camshaft defect. This sudden power loss in highway traffic created an extreme and unreasonable risk of a high-speed collision and serious injury.
#11696443 |
Faulty CANBUS connector/CANBUS failure. This issue tends to be a random and inconvenient occurrence which can be difficult to initially diagnose. Causes the jeep to stall, power steering to fail, causes all dash lights to light up and keeps the jeep from start up. Acts as if the part needs to cool down before the jeep will restart. The failure of this part has caused the jeep to stall on the highway at high speeds. Two manufacturer dealers inspected the battery, auxiliary battery, alternator and starter; found no issue with those parts. One dealer said our issue was due to the ABS module; replaced it and it did not fix the issue. Replaced the CANBUS connector and the issue has resolved. This is a known issue among jeeps both new and old and can pose a serious safety risk. To answer the question of how fast the vehicle was going...

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH, the instrument cluster went black. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.

The fuel pump relay that is embedded within the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) failed on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited after only 47391 miles, causing intermittent engine stalls and problems starting. When taken to the Sisbarro Deming, NM CDJR dealership for repair, there were no replacement TIPMs in the stock system available to fix my vehicle, despite my vehicle being only 7 years old. This suggests an abnormally high rate of failure if the manufacturer is unable to maintain an adequate stock to support their vehicles. Given this has been an issue with Jeeps of previous model years (1), it is evident the problem has not been addressed yet. The part that failed on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL with 2.0L I4 Turbo or 3.6L V6 eTorque engine is the BPCM: Part Name: Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM) Part Number: 05057870 or 68381513AA My dealer advised the the battery was "bloated" and at risk of catching fire & exploding. Under further review, the very SAME part was recalled for 2020-2024 Jeep Wrangler plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. [XXX] Mopar advised that my 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara with eTorque has a BPCM which is part of the 48V mild hybrid system, which is not installed in all Wranglers — only those with the eTorque system. I believe this setup in my Jeep is the SAME setup as in the 2020-2024 Jeep models which had the recall. There is much evidence of this same issue with the eTorque setup online to reference. ABS module has failed and has shut off the cruse control system. The O.E. module is on national back order with no idea of it availability. The unit is still in the vehicle. Non-A.B.S. brakes work. How ever the traction control system is shut off as well as the cruse control system posing a greater risk to all. Search on several internet sites confirms that this issue has been noted to the manufacture with no resolution. Owners are left to find their own part and none are available.

I lost power steering while driving due to bad can bus connector cause by poor solder joints.

I have experienced an Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) display failure, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This failure poses a direct safety risk to myself, my passengers, and others on the road. The display initially flickered and flashed, which created a driving distraction, and now it has gone completely blank. Without the IPC, I cannot monitor the speedometer, fuel level, warning lamps, or other vital vehicle information. I believe this condition violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 101 regarding the accessibility and visibility of required controls and displays, thereby increasing the risk of a crash. The issue has been inspected by an independent service center, which confirmed the failure and encouraged me to contact the manufacturer about a potential recall. There were no warning lamps, error codes, or messages prior to the failure. The first symptoms appeared a couple of months ago when the display...

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the instrument cluster was inoperable and displayed a blank screen. During the failure, the driver was unable to view the fuel levels, engine temperature levels, and any safety warnings. The local dealer was informed of the failure, and the instrument cluster was serviced by an independent mechanic and reinstalled by the dealer. Shortly after retrieving the vehicle, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000( ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 28,000.

All of our warning lights would come on at once we would lose steering power then it would go dark. We’d have to pull over shut it off then we’d have to wait at least 30 minutes before we could get it back in gear to drive it anywhere. This has happened more than three times. We now have it in a dealership and want to know, I think there was a recall on it in September but we did not get a letter so we want to know how to file the paperwork to get this fixed very disappointed with this we just put 2500 into it for new camshaft and now this is going to cost us around 600. I don’t have the receipts right now to download but I can upload them when I get the copies. Just wondering what help we can get it was very...

My car randomly illuminates every light on the dashboard and my speedometer will say zero mph and I lose all power steering and have to put my car into neutral and roll to a stop because my brakes won’t work either. Then I cannot turn off the ignition or accessory. Check engine light is on and my car starts but there are no brakes or power steering. Thankful my kids were not in the car!

After filing my first concern with the vehicle and attempting to rack my brain with answers to why a 2018 is falling apart at the seams, I can only come up with either fraud, or the vehicle has been modified in major ways and glued together only to fall apart every bump I go over. After some reading I’m questioning 49 CFR part 565 form that was turned in after I purchased the vehicle means that I possibly have a replica, “remanufactured”, or altered vehicle. I’m not sure of the legality of selling a vehicle built from whatever vehicles I have, I do know that parts are not all the same years upon scanning modules I got some strange replacement identifiers that I will send. I also question if it really passed emissions being that my short term fuel trim sensor passed the catalytic converter on both sides stays over...

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the stability control and traction control warning lights along with several other unknown warning lights illuminated. The power steering and fuel gauge were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the Can Buss Connector to the circuit board located behind the glove box had malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the part was on back order and not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 54,000.

Instrument cluster panel needs replacing as odometer reading is 9999999 when turning the car on. Showing as a known issue in this make/model vehicle yet this VIN is not included for some unknown reason. Would like this included for reimbursement.

The check engine light came on in my car. I was waiting for the dealer to call me to fix it for the 3rd time. I was on my way home when every electrical option on the vehicle turned on- wipers, lights, dash lights, brake- which caused the car to brake- then it turned off and I had no brakes, the car had no steering, it accelerated and I went off the road.
#11666710 |
The dash board stared to flash all sorts of symbols check engine light, auto start stop, sway bar disconnect unavailable, shifter problem. And then the power steering does not work, sometimes the throttle has no power, and sometimes the engine shuts off.

I was driving about 65 MPH and was turning with the road and my Jeep started to shake violently. I just about lost control of the vehicle. I pulled over on the Interstate to check and see if I had a flat on a front tire or if the wheel was falling off of the Jeep. It was a very scary and unpleasant experience to have at 4:30 am going to work. Not sure what the problem is with the suspension or steering, but I thought for sure I was going to get in a wreck and Traffic is really heavy which would have been very bad for many drivers!

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler has experienced intermittent situatuion of 999,999 appearing as the mileage on the odometer. If it appears, it usually resets to the actual mileage (approximately 58,500) after a short drive. There is an open recall to address this issue for the same year Jeep Wranglers, but doesn’t include my vehicle. I have taken the car into the dealer and had them escalate the issue, but Jeep refuses to address, as it was not part of the recall. Therefore, i am writing to have the criteria for that recall reevaluated, as my car has the issue yet is not a part of the recall. Please see recall - NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 Instrument Panel Failure/FMVSS 101. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

First it was my clutch blowing up including the transmission from underneath me while I drove down a hwy. Then it was a month later before I got it back. (I'm single, and it's my only vehicle). Once I got my jeep back the start/stop button stopped working. I had to lock/unlock with the key fob for it to start. Even with both fobs in the jeep. Now every code, 101 to be exact) is being thrown out of nowhere. Every light goes off, the wipers start going off, the sway bar and traction control disconnects while I'm driving along with the steering wheel locking up while I'm driving down the hwy. The brakes are pulling very badky to the left and /or right. The entire thing is absolutely a death trap. I can't believe this was passed by someone who has the customers best interest for safety. ABS malfunction. Power steering and brakes go in and out of operation due to a communication error. All lights come on dash, engine light stays on. Occurs mainly when vehicle is hot during summer or above 65mph highway driving. Safety concern as vehicle power steering is unpredictable during this time. The Drive shaft locks in park and requires manual override when lights are on, but then without intervention, all the lights go away except the engine light and it runs fine. ABS modules are on back order with no ETA because this is a recurring problem for many. Once new abs module is put it, problem can be confirmed and more details can be given by auto repair services.

I have read a lot about the "Death Wobble." It appears there has been no recall on this but I believe there have been many incidents. Almost every day that the vehicle is driven and we hit a bump in the road going between 30-45 miles the steering wheel shakes aggressively. Would you not call this a definitely a safety hazard? The second issue is the dash board reading goes blank occasionally. Unable to see the speed and or gas usage. Both issues I would say are safety issues. It appears that many Jeep owners have faced the same issues. Neither of these issues have been inspected. I don't feel that we should be responsible for the cost of the inspection. Jeep should stand behind their product.

The radio touchscreen delaminated. Do to the delamination the screen would experience 'ghost touches' resulting in random controls being pressed. For example, At times, while driving highway speed the backup camera would activate and distract the driver and require screen input to deactivate while driving. SOmetimes 911 would be called through a ghost touch. Anything that could be pressed is possible. This is a major driver distraction and while it did not cause an injury while I was driving, it clearly is a safety hazard to take eyes off the road (and hands) when the screen is flickering with different actions. the only fix is to replace the screen by the dealership.
#11652980 |
The Jeeps Instrument Cluster went blank. There is nothing on the screen. No speed gauge, indication of the amount of gas, temperature, etc. This is a safety issue with speed and gas.
#11652006 |
The jeep screen delaminates which will cause 'ghost taps' on the screen. These ghost taps could do anything that can be changed in the vehicle while still or driving. For example, while driving at highway speeds, the rear view camera will activate on the screen causing a major distraction from driving. Additionally, anything else can happen from dailing random phone numbers, calling 911, turning the heat to high or off, changing any setting.....all while driving. Driver distraction is a major cause of accidents and a known delamination issue must be investigated. This is a common issue for certain model years of the jeeps or similar FCA cars.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the instrument panel had gone blank while driving at moderate speeds. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System); which the contact linked to the failure. The contact searched the VIN on the NHTSA website and discovered that the VIN was not included in the recall. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

While driving the transmission and clutch system blew up. And I mean that in the literale sense. Sparks and a big flash. Unfortunately, I was an hour away from where I live. This caused me to have to find a way home and find a tow company that would be able to pick up my jeep on the side of the highway, tow it an hour to me. I couldn't afford that, so it was taken to the Chrysler dealership there and it was there for a month before they could work on it due to the parts having to be ordered and shipped in. Once the entire clutch system and transmission fully replaced I have to find a way to go back and pick it up. It was after hours when I finally got to it. That's when the mechanic that worked on it researched and found the recall...

After having to have my transmission and clutch system replaced because it all blew up, upon receiving my jeep back afterwards more issues have now arised. Cluster lights all light up, as well as the speed indicator doesn't work. The traction control and sway bar connection go sporadically on and off. The radio shows no signal the back up camera doesn't work, the steering wheel locks up while I'm driving and causes me to have to pull over but I can't pull off to the side because the steering wheel is locked.

The screen to my jeep is delaminating and is almost unusable. I can't even turn the screen off now and the car will try to make SOS calls and call people from my phone. It will turn on directions automatically. I almost ran over a pedestrian because I was distracted with the screen trying to hang up from a phone call that the car automatically dialed. My [XXX] son just started driving this vehicle and I worry for his safety and the safety around him. If I almost caused a fatal car accident because of this issue with many years of experience, what will happen with a newly driver that can't handle any distractions?
