My wife and I were at a stop light behind a box truck in our 2018 Jeep Wrangler, about 15 feet between us. I had slowed to stop and had my foot on the brake. All of the sudden the Jeep reved up (idle increase), did not see the tachometer, and with my foot on the brake accelerated into the box truck in front of us. When it started to accelerate, I pushed the brake peddle to the floor to stop the Jeep but it did not do a thing. I see 2 problems her: 1. The acceleration when stopped 2. The brake did not hold. There were no injuries or damage to the box truck. We were able to drive the Jeep about 20 miles to the dealer we bought at. It is ow being worked on in the body shop. The Jeep dealer technicians did a computer check...
The vehicle experienced a fuel/propulsion failure involving sudden loss of engine power. After internal engine repairs performed by the dealership (camshaft and valvetrain work), the vehicle was returned to me as repaired and safe to operate. Within minimal post-repair driving (less than one mile), the vehicle entered limp mode, lost propulsion, and the engine shut down while driving in active traffic. The vehicle required towing back to the dealership. The loss of propulsion occurred on a busy city roadway and created an immediate safety risk to me and surrounding motorists due to the sudden inability to maintain speed or power, with a foreseeable risk of collision. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership. After subsequent inspection and teardown, the dealer documented catastrophic internal engine damage, including cylinder wall scoring and a failed head gasket. The dealership acknowledged that deeper inspection during the prior internal engine repair would have revealed...
The fuel pump relay that is embedded within the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) failed on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited after only 47391 miles, causing intermittent engine stalls and problems starting. When taken to the Sisbarro Deming, NM CDJR dealership for repair, there were no replacement TIPMs in the stock system available to fix my vehicle, despite my vehicle being only 7 years old. This suggests an abnormally high rate of failure if the manufacturer is unable to maintain an adequate stock to support their vehicles. Given this has been an issue with Jeeps of previous model years (1), it is evident the problem has not been addressed yet. My 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Sport is experiencing multiple premature engine failures that present a serious safety risk: •Vehicle overheats while driving. •Recurrent misfire on Cylinder #5 (DTC P0305). •White exhaust smoke with a sweet coolant smell on cold start. •Coolant loss despite recent refill. •Oil contamination with metallic particles found during inspection. •Valvetrain noise from the right bank, suspected intake camshaft wear. These conditions create a risk of engine seizure or sudden stalling while driving, which could cause a crash. Manufacturer awareness: Jeep/Mopar has issued bulletins acknowledging these exact problems, including: •TSB MC-11018482-0001 (May 2025): Intake camshaft/rocker wear causing misfires (P0301–P0306). •Customer Satisfaction Notification ZD8 (2023): Coolant inlet tube fastener issue causing coolant leaks and overheating. My vehicle’s symptoms directly align with these known manufacturer issues. Despite this, Jeep/Mopar has denied goodwill repair coverage. Safety Concern: This defect is not just a performance issue — it creates a high...
1. The power steering, gauge cluster, multifunction display, wipers, door locks, ignition on/off, blinker and most other electronic aspects fail or operate without command. 2. The speedometer does not show speed, power steering fails entirely or intermittent including in turns, turn signals fail to indicate, traction control shows failure, abs shows failure, 4wd shows failure, airbags show failure. Vehicle turns off while on highway due to fuel sensor indicating empty even though the car is filled with at least half a tank. 3. Yes, multiple times, Demontrond Jeep Conroe, Tx 4. Yes by Demontrond Jeep Conroe, Tx 5. All warning lights illuminate at time of failures. No lights were observed before initial failure. Failures began August of 2023.
there is a recall, 19A, that has no fix yet. the "this-might-happen" happened to me. clutch plate hot, hole through transmission, near melted fuel lines. got it fixed, major work $6000. Chrysler won't reimburse me because "there is no fix for the recall yet." that is the point. my car sustained major damage due to the recall issue with no fix. when they do find a fix, the replacement parts that i have now will still have to be fixed. nothing, including 3 weeks rental, covered under extended warranty because it is a recall issue. recall reimbursement documentation not processed because there is no fix. they have been running me around for almost 2 weeks. i am not someone who can drop $6000 without major pain. i paid with what cash i had, financed what i could at 23%, and had to have a friend use her credit card for...
Just took my 2018 JEEP Wrangler Unlimited JL in for the improved steering feel recall. The jeep was working just fine until after the software update just miles after update lost all power and shut off and wouldn't restart. I couldn't even get it to turn over enough to put it in neutral to put it on a tow truck. Finally got it restarted, back to the dealer and was told fuel pump was out. Service Bulletin #S1808000167, FCA discusses the reasons that the vehicle won’t start or there is lost contact with the fuel pump control module.
My 2018 wrangler accelerates when not on the gas pedal, and both the engine light and electronic throttle light comes on. My Jeep has been to the dealer 4 times for this issue and it still goes unfixed. It has been to an independent service center once, and they diagnosed the PCM (powertrain control module) as failing. This issue is very dangerous for myself and anyone else on the road as my jeep will accelerate at random.
VEHICLE IS UNDER RECALL W12/NHTSA 20V-124. FIAT/CHRYSLER (FCA) HAS BEEN STALLING US FOR QUITE A LONG TIME. THE CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE MAY BECOME OVERHEATED AND FRACTURE THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH CAN RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY, OR THE CAR GETTING FIRE.THE DEALER SAYS THAT CHRYSLER DOESN'T HAVE THE PART REQUIRED TO FIX THE CAR, AND FCA KEEPS ROUTING ME FROM ONE REPRESENTATIVE TO ANOTHER, BUT THEY WON'T EVEN SAY IF THEY HAVE THE PART. I HAVE BEEN MAKING PAYMENTS DILIGENTLY ON A CAR THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN, AS THE STATEMENT ON THEIR OWN LETTER INFORMS THAT THE RECALL PERTAINS TO A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. MY CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER AND DEEMED THAT THERE IS A LEAK AND THE CLUTCH HOSE SO I SHOULDN'T DRIVE IT. THE CLUTCH ALREADY FEELS EXTREMELY SOFT AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. FCA DOES IS NOT OFFERING ANY HOPES OF FIXING NOR IS PROVIDING...
VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN APPROX 30MPH ON A CITY ROAD WHEN A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD. IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND LUCKILY A STRANGER FOLLOWING BEHIND QUICKLY ESCORTED THE DRIVER OUT AS THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY WENT UP IN FLAMES. METAL CHUNKS AND PIECES COULD BE HEARD FALLING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION THE TRANSMISSION HAD COMPLETELY EXPLODED AND EJECTED THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY SHEARING THE INPUT SHAFT AND RUPTURING A FUEL LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS A COMPLETE TOTAL LOSS WITH FLAMES IMMEDIATELY ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN IN SECONDS. IF IT WAS NOT FOR A BRAVE BYSTANDER SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. THIS IS A NEW TRANSMISSION INTRODUCED IN THE NEW JL WRANGLER AND GLADIATOR AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE AND MORE. IT'S A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT JEEP REFUSES TO LOOK INTO AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY. TRANSMISSION EXPLOSION TO THIS DEGREE NOT ONLY CAN RESULT IN A...
WHILE DRIVING THE JEEP THE DIGITAL FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WENT FROM HALF TANK TO EMPTY. REFUELED THE TANK AND THE GAUGE REMAINED ON EMPTY. A WEEK LATER THE FUEL GAUGE WENT BACK UP TO FULL BUT WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON, IT RETURN TO FUEL LEVEL LOW. IT HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR ONE MONTH WITH FREQUENT REFILL OF FUEL. CURRENTLY SERVING IN THE MILITARY OVERSEAS IN ITALY WITH MY US SPEC JEEP.
09/24/19 I NOTICED A HUGE STAIN UNDER THE RIGHT BACK SIDE ON MY JEEP AND COULD SMELL THE STRONG ODOR OF GAS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM AND THEY CHECKED IT THE WHOLE DAY AND STATED NOTHING WAS SHOWING OF A GAS LEAK OR COULD SMELL THE GAS. BROUGHT MY VEHICLE HOME UNSURE BECAUSE I HAD VIDEO OF HOW YOU COULD HEAR THE FUEL GURGLING FROM THE TANK. TODAY 11/09/19 AGAIN THE FUEL IS LEAKING I HAVE VIDEO SHOWING HOW THE FUEL IS GOING EVERYWHERE WHILE THE TRUCK IS PARKED AND HAD BEEN PARKED FOR 24 HOURS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. IT'S SCARY TO DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK IN THE VEHICLE. I WAS FIRST TOLD FROM THE DEALERSHIP NOT TO OVERFILL MY TANK WHICH I DON'T NOR HAVE I EVER. I KNOW SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH THIS GAS TANK. PLEASE CONTACT ME...
VEHICLE SEEMS TO REV UP ON ITS OWN/GAS PEDAL FEELS LIKE IT STICKS
CURRENTLY I HAVE TWO ISSUES I BELIEVE MY 2018 WRANGLER JL TO BE EXPERIENCING. THE FIRST IS A CONSTANT CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE, MAINLY IN THE REAR. THIS OCCURS AT SLOW SPEEDS (10MPH OR LESS). THE DEALER REPLACED MY REAR AXLE BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE SECOND ISSUE IS THAT I DO NOT BELIEVE I AM ABLE TO FILL MY FUEL TANK TO THE PROPER CAPACITY. ( HAVE A 4-DOOR JL) FROM 'LOW MILEAGE' WARNING TO FULL, TYPICALLY I GET ABOUT 16 GALLONS.
I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE SINCE JULY 5TH, 2018. ON AUGUST 26TH, I WENT TO LEAVE MY HOME AND BEFORE I STARTED THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED JEEP WAS LEAKING GAS OUT OF THE REAR RIGHT PORTION OF THE VEHICLE WHEN SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. IT WAS SITTING IN MY PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AT THE TIME I OBSERVED THE LEAK. ALSO SAW GAS STREAMING WHEN I REMOVED GAS CAP AND LOOKED INTO TANK. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO JEEP DEALER. *TT CONSUMER STATED YES. IT JUST GOT REPAIRED. IT WAS DETERMINED THE FUEL TANK WAS NOT TAKING FUEL PROPERLY AND HAD FILLED THE EVAP CANISTER AND ALL APPEARS TO BE OK AFTER DRIVING FOR A FEW DAYS. UPDATED 10/10/18*JB *BF. UPDATED 10/31/18*JB
CAR LEAKING FUEL THE CAR TURNED OF WHILE APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT (~15MPH). I PUT IT PARK AND STARTED IT AGAIN, NO PROBLEM. AS I APPROACHED THE NEXT STOP LIGHT, IT TURNED OFF AGAIN. THIS TIME IT TOOK CRANKED FOR ABOUT 4 SECONDS BEFORE STARTING. I HEADED TOWARDS THE NEAREST PARKING LOT AND THE CAR STARTED HESITATING. WHEN I PULLED IN I FOUND THAT IT WAS LEAKING GAS FROM WHAT APPEARED TO BE ABOVE THE GAS TANK. IT PUDDLED UP BEHIND THE PASSENGER REAR OF THE VEHICLE. GOT IT TOWED TO THE DEALER FROM THERE. - NO GAS LEAKED WHERE IT WAS PREVIOUSLY PARKED FOR OVER 6 HOURS. - PROBLEMS STARTED ONLY A COUPLE MINUTES AFTER STARTING IT - CAR HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS, FILLED IT THAT MORNING. - AS THE TOW DRIVER GOT IT LIFTED, A LOT MORE GAS STARTED LEAKING OUT. (WHILE ONLY THE FRONT END...
