WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES THE PAST MONTH MY VEHICLE HAS SHUT DOWN. ALL LIGHTS STAY ON IN CAR AND HEADLAMPS ETC. BUT THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN YOU LOSE POWER STEERING AND WHEN YOU GO TO CRANK THE ENGINE OVER IT WILL DO NOTHING FOR MAYBE 5 TO 10 SECONDS BEFORE YOU HERE THE BELTS AND FANS START TO CRANK. HAD THE STARTER, ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY TESTED. REPLACED THE BATTERY AND IT STILL DOES IT JUST NOT AS OFTEN.
1200 MILES BURNING 1 QUART OF OIL
CAR STALLED OUT GOING 25 MILES AN HOUR WHILE DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET. TEMPERATURE 102 AT 3:02PM. VEHICLE HAD ONLY BEEN RUNNING LESS THAN 30 MINUTES. ALL DASH LIGHTS CAME ON, SCROLLED THRU EACH SERVICE NOTICE {CHECK ENGINE, TURN SIGNALS, ETC..} AFTER 3RD ATTEMPT TO RESTART VEHICLE, IT STARTED. TOOK 27 MINUTES. ONCE STARTED, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON.
WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE JERKS ME EXTREMELY HARD AND ENGINE MAKES LOUD THUMP NOISE. I'VE ALMOST HIT MULTIPLE VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME FROM IT JULTING ME FORWARD. I'M PREGNANT AND IT'S EXTREMELY CONCERNING.
JEEP DEALERS HAVE BEEN UNRESPONSIVE IN RESOLVING/FIXING RECALL W47 LEADING TO THE LACK OF FUNCTIONALITY OF MY JEEP CHEROKEE 2015, REQUIRING TOW FROM CHESTER, MD TO ALEXANDRIA, VA GIVEN THE VEHICLE COULD NO LONGER BE DRIVEN. DEALER NOW SUDDENLY HAS "RECALL FIX" (NOT AVAILABLE AFTER 9 PREVIOUS CALLS/MESSAGES BETWEEN 7/21/2020 - 8/22/2020 WHEN DEALER REPS NEVER RETURNED A MESSAGE/CALL). THEY CLAIM AS OF TODAY (AFTER JEEP WAS DROPPED AT DEALER BY TOW TRUCK), THE RECALL FIX HAS BEEN DONE - BUT SAY THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT IS STILL ON AND NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED/PAID FOR BY THE CUSTOMER. I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE FURTHER RESULT OF NOT FIXING A DANGEROUS RECALL SITUATION WHICH COULD HAVE DAMAGED THE CAR BEYOND THE RECALL RELATED TO FRONT WHEELS, TRANSMISSION, LOSS OF POWER, LOSS OF PARK FUNCTION. MY VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING, ALL TRANSMISSION SERVICE/ABS AND PARKING BRAKE SERVICE LIGHTS WENT ON SIMULTANEOUSLY AND THE JEEP...
APPROX. 4:45PM WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS 117, I WAS PARKED, WITH THE ENGINE OFF, WAITING TO PICK UP MY DOG AT THE VET. I HAD JUST DRIVEN 15 MILES TO THIS LOCATION = 25 MINUTES. WAITED OVER 20 MINUTES FOR DOG TO BE BROUGHT TO CAR. WHEN READY TO LEAVE, CAR WOULD NOT START, ALL SERVICE/DASH LIGHTS COME ON. (HAD AIR, RADIO, LIGHTS} WAITED OVER 40 MINUTES AND FINALLY CAR STARTED. DROVE DIRECTLY HOME, AGAIN THE 15 MILES IN ABOUT 20 MINUTES, BACKED INTO DRIVEWAY, PUT CAR IN PARK (DID NOT TURN ENGINE OFF), TOOK DOG INSIDE. WHEN PUTTING CAR IN REVERSE TO PUT CAR IN GARAGE, CAR STALLED OUT. THIS WAS TWICE IN ONE DAY!! THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS ON VERY HOT DAYS. WHY NO RESEARCH/RECALL ON THIS STALLING OUT ISSUE??
VEHICLE DIES AT SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE. NO WARNING ONLY ONE ERROR WHEN IT HAPPENS PERTAINING TO THE START/STOP SYSTEM NEEDING SERVICE. HAS ALSO HAPPENED SITTING IN A PARKING LOT AT IDLE. OIL LEVEL IS GOOD. BATTERY IS NEW. DEALER REPLACED THE PCU BUT PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN THE SAME DAY WE LEFT THE DEALER. SO FAR THEY HAVE HAD IT ANOTHER WEEK AND CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. NO OBDII ERROR CODES.

SERVICE SHIFTER CONTINUES TO COME ON
I WAS AT A RED LIGHT TRYING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. SUDDENLY, THE CAR STALLED. MY STEERING WHEEL WAS ALSO FROZEN THAT COULD NOT BE TURNED ANYMORE. THE DASHBOARD DISPLAYED "SHIFT THE GEAR TO P". MY STEERING WHEEL WAS ALSO FROZEN THAT COULD NOT BE TURNED ANYMORE. AFTER I DID THAT, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. THIS HAPPENED ON A CITY STREET BUT STILL VERY SCARY DUE TO STALLING. I CHECKED ONLINE AND IT SEEMS THERE WAS A RECALL ABOUT STALLING BEFORE, BUT I WAS NOT CONTACTED BY JEEP; AND I DID NOT SEND MY CAR ANYWHERE FOR THIS MATTER.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH DASH LIGHTS START BLINKING ON THEN OFF SEVERAL TIMES. AS I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY! I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED ENGINE. THEN AS I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN WHILE AUTO START /STOP WAS DISENGAGED AS I RESTARTED THE AUTO START STOP LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE STARTED. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. AS I DROVE THE DASH LIGHTS CONTINUED TO FLASH ON AND OFF, NOW THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WILL NOT GO OUT? THE VEHICLE IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO BOTH MY FAMILY AND OTHER MOTORISTS, AS TO THE FACT THAT THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN AT WILL WITH OUT NOTICE OR WARNING OF ANY TYPE. AN ERROR THAT CONTINUES TO COME AND GO IS TO 'SERVICE SHIFTER.' IT IS APPARENT THERE ARE MOMENTS THAT THE SHIFTER SPUTTERS, THE CAR WILL NOT SHIFT GEARS (AUTOMATIC) AND REFUSE TO ACCELERATE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO COMES ON FOR THIS. DEAL SHIPS DO NOT SEEM TO ACT AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, BUT IT SEEMS EXTREMELY PREVALENT ONLINE. IT APPEARS TO BE BASED ON A FAULTY SHIFT IN THE VEHICLE OR BAD WIRING. HOWEVER, THE DEAL SHIPS ACT LIKE NOTHING IS WRONG BUT WILL CHANGE IT FOR YOU FOR AROUND $7,000. THE CAR SPUTTERING AND REFUSING TO SHIFT WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FROM FAULTY COMPONENTS AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. IT'S CLEAR A RECALL IS NEEDED FOR THIS. *TR
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS ERRATICALLY AT TIMES, AND DOES NOT SHIFT AT TIMES WHEN IT SHOULD. TRANSMISSION CREATES A JERKING SENSATION IN CAR.
MY CAR HAS CUT OFF TWICE. TOOK CAR TO FIRESTONE THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. HAD AN OIL CHANGE SINCE I WAS THERE. CALLED A CHRYSLER DEALER WHILE WAITING JUST TO FIND OUT OTHER PEOPLE WITH MY CAR HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. CAR CUTTING OFF. THEN ABLE TO RESTART. CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH A STOP START FEATURE TO CONSERVE FUEL USAGE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND HELD AT A STOPLIGHT THE ENGINE STOPS RUNNING AS IT SHOULD. THE PROBLEM IS THE STOP START FEATURE NO LONGER FUNCTIONS AS DESIGNED. THIS FEATURE HAS FAILED IN THE PAST AND REPAIRED MARCH 2018. FUNCTIONED NORMALLY UNTIL OCTOBER 2019 AND REMAINS IN A NOT WORKING CONDITION AS OF MAY 2020. *TR
VEHICLE JUMPS BACK WHEN EXITING OFF INTERSTATE AT HIGH SPEED TO LOWER SPEED. ONCE YIELDED OR STOPPED AND HIT GAS PEDAL TO MOVE, VEHICLE JUMPS, POPS, DOESN'T ENGAGE TO MOVE FORWARD ON ACCELERATION. WHEN STOPPING AT A SIGN, HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY STOPPED SO VEHICLE KICKS BACK THEN WHEN ACCELERATING, THERE IS A HESITATION. VEHICLE KINDA LEAPS FORWARD AT FASTER SPEED THEN WHAT PRESSURE IS ON THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES.
THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" NOTIFICATION ON THE DASH FIRST CAME ON IN DECEMBER 2018 - I TOOK IT TO LARRY MILLER DODGE, THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IT. NOW, I'M GETTING THAT SAME MESSAGE AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO LARRY MILLER DODGE, AND WAS TOLD FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE AND FIX, IT HAS TO BE ON BEFORE THEY CAN DO ANYTHING. I DON'T RECALL THEM TELLING ME THAT THE LAST TIME I HAD IT IN FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. IN READING ONLINE, THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON CARGURUS WEBSITE ABOUT THIS VERY ISSUE. THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" COMES ON THE DASH, AND ALL THE RED LIGHTS LIGHT UP BY THE SHIFTER. SO FAR, I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES OCCUR WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO DRIVE OR START THE CAR. BUT IT'S STARTING TO APPEAR MORE FREQUENTLY....
WITH THE VEHICLE IN MOTION AND AT ALL RATES OF SPEED, WHILE BRAKING, WITH THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE, THE ENGINE AND ALL ELECTRONICS HAVE SHUT OFF. DIFFICULT TO SAFELY EXIT THE ROAD TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTART IT. HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS NOW.
DRIVING ON HWY. AND IT SAYS "PUT IN PARK" AND STOPS RUNNING. AFTER I PUT IT IN PARK THEN TRIED TO CRANK, WOULD NOT CRANK.
OIL COOLING HOUSING CRACKED IT COST ME $624 TO REPLACE. THE HOUSING IS MADE OF PLASTIC, THERE'S NO WAY THAT'S GOING LAST WITH THE HEAT OF THE ENGINE
MY 2015 JEEP ONLY HAS JUST OVER 45K MILES ON IT AND EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKED. IT CAUSED A BURNING SMELL TO ENTER MY CAR WHEN I HAD THE AIR ON

THE ENGINE WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH A NEW ENGINE, THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS SWAPPED AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WIRES REINSTALLED. THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD NEEDED...
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, WARNINGS AUTO/START/STOP SYSTEM FAILURE. 4WD TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE. CAR STALLS WHILE IN MOTION. LOSES ACCELERATION CITY AND RURAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. ENGINE KNOCK FROM PREMATURE CAM SHAFT WEAR.
WHILE DRIVING, THE JEEP WILL TURN OFF AUTOMATICALLY DUE TO THE ENGINE BURING TOO MUCH OIL. IT CAUSES A SAFETY CONCERN WHEN THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY STOPS AND CAUSES OTHER CARS TO SWIRVE OR TO HIT THE CAR. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS. THERE IS NO WARNING TO IT AND NO OIL LIGHT TO TELL ME THE ENGINE IS LOW OF OIL. IT ALSO HAS SEVERAL OTHER WARNINGS THAT COME ON FOR NO REASON. THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT WILL COME ON AND STOP THE CAR FROM GOING INTO PARK, AGAIN CAUSING THE CAR AND PASSENGERS TO BE IN DANGER. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION, EITHER GOING FAST OR SLOW. IT COMES WITHOUT WARNING AND WHEN I CALL ABOUT IT, THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE MY LOW BEAMS 10+ TIMES THIS YEAR. THEY KEEP SHORTING OUR. ALSO HAVE TO HAVE MY ENGINE THERMOSTAT REPLACED EVEN THOUGH IT'S WORKING FINE. IT'S ELECTRICAL KEEPS CAUSING MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. AND THE FIX IS REPLACING SOMETHING THAT IS FULLY WORKING. AND BECAUSE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON I CAN'T MAKW IT THROUGH DEQ TO GET TAGS FOR MY CAR. THIS IS THE 3RD (SEPARATE) ELECTRICAL PROBLEM I'VE HAD WITH THIS CAR AND I'M DONE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURES RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.

WHEN THIS HAPPENS, CAR IS IN A POSSESSED STATE WHERE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON AT ALL TIMES, TURN SIGNALS DO NOT WORK, WIPERS DO NOT WORK, HORN DOES NOT WORK. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO CODES, SO NOTHING THEY CAN DO. PULL THE BATTERY CABLE OFF TO SHUT THE CAR DOWN. THIS WILL HAPPEN MID DRIVE SO ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU'LL LOSE YOUR TURN SIGNALS, WIPERS, HORN, BRAKE LIGHTS, DOOR LOCKS, AND MAIN LIGHT CONTROL. WHEN YOU PULL OVER, ONLY WAY TO TURN THE CAR OFF IS TO PULL THE BATTERY CABLE.
I WAS LEAVING MY CONDOMINIUM, SOON AFTER STEPPING THE PEDAL, BRAKE THAT MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE ON-BOARD COMPUTER, THEN VEHICLE STOPPED WALKING. I WAS TRYING TO CALL AGAIN, TO PARK THE SAME INSIDE MY PARKING SPACE INSIDE THE CONDOMINIUM, STARTED TO MAKE A VERY LUCKY NOISE AND NOT CALLING, HAD TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE WITHOUT STARTING AND STILL CALL A WINCH, TO TAKE TO MY RELIABLE MECHANIC, THAT UNTIL TODAY WE CAN NOT FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS THIS VEHICLE, WHENEVER WE PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE MESSAGE APPEARS AND DOES NOT START THE VEHICLE.
SHUTS OFF AFTER STARTING, DISPLAY SCREEN BLACKS OUT AND RADIO DOESN'T WORK, ENGINE LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF. HEAT AND AIR CONDITIONING SETTINGS KEEP RESETTING TO HALFWAY BETWEEN HOT AND COLD. SHUTS OFF AND SLAMS INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL. GEARS DROP HEAVILY WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE. COMPUTER KEEPS RESETTING. THESE THINGS USUALLY OCCUR AFTER STARTING AND PULLING AWAY. YOU NEED TO STOP AND RESTART THE JEEP. THESE THINGS HAVE ALSO OCCURRED AT 65MPH. THIS HAS STEADILY BEEN GETTING WORSE OVER THE LAST 4 MONTHS.
THIS IS FOLLOW UP TO PREVIOUS COMPLAINT 11281573: DEALER RECEIVED JEEP VIA TOW AND FOUND STUCK IN NEUTRAL AS I DESCRIBED. LET SIT OVERNIGHT AND DEALER INDICATES JEEP WILL ONLY GO IN REVERSE, LATER IN DAY SECOND TRY JEEP DRIVES FINE AND NO CODES TO REPORT A PROBLEM TO FIX. CANNOT IDENTIFY FAILURE SINCE NO "CODES" WERE AVAILABLE IN SYSTEM. DEALER DROVE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT PROBLEM OF GOING INTO NEUTRAL OCCURRING. I PICKED UP VEHICLE AND DROVE HOME. NEXT MORNING WHILE MAKING A SIGNALED LEFT TURN NO CITY STREET, JEEP GOES INTO NEUTRAL, COAST TO ADJACENT PARKING LOT CROSSING OVER ONE LANE AND STOP. VEHICLE ENGAGES INTO DRIVE SO I PROCEED. RETURNING HOME A FEW MINUETS LATER AND AT ABOUT 50 MPH JEEP AGAIN GOES INTO NEUTRAL, I REMOVE FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR BUT ENGINE ACCELERATES TO ABOUT 5500 TO 5800 RPM AS I COAST TO SIDE OF ROAD (QUITE...
THE CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DRIVING ON 11/4. JEEP'S DOAGNOSTICS STATES THERE ARE ENGINE ISSUES SPECIFICALLY WITH THE CAMS PART WHICH CAUSES FOR THE CAR TO STALL UNEXPECTEDLEY AND CAUSE MAJOR RISK LEADING TO ACCIDENT AND DEATH. THE ENGINE WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND PROPERLY MAINTAINED. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A 4-YEAR OLD CAR/ENGINE TO FAIL WITH THAT SHORT LIFE SPAN
THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT. IT TYPICALLY HAPPENS ON THE FIRST START OF THE DAY. THE CAR WILL RUN AND THEN START RUNNING REALLY ROUGH FOR NO REASON AND USUALLY STALLS OUT. TODAY IT RAN FINE AND STALLED OUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD. I ATTACHED SOME P CODES TO THE COMPLAINT AS WELL AS THEY CONSISTENTLY COME UP WITH THE ISSUE. I'VE CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS, THE 2ND CYLINDER COIL IGNITION START PACK AS THAT WAS ONE OF THE ISSUES FROM THE P CODES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I'M TAKING THIS INTO A JEEP DEALER ON 11/22. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THE ISSUE PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO I CAN FIND A SOLUTION. MY 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE HAS STALL OUT 3 TIMES ON ME WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY HIGHWAYS. MY GAS CAP LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR 2 YEARS. I APPARENTLY AM THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE AS THEY NEED A FLASH TO RESET THE MOTHERBOARD. IN THE MEANTIME TO RULE THINGS OUT I HAD TO HAVE THE VAPOR TEST DONE AND REPLACE THE GAS CAP WHICH OF COURSE SOLVEE NOTHING.

AUTOMATIC START/STOP SYSTEM DOESN'T ALWAYS ENGAGE. THE TRANSMISSION STAYS IN 3RD GEAR AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE CAR HAS HIGH REVOLUTIONS AND JERKS UNIT IT DOWN SHIFTS TO 1ST GEAR WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED. CAUSING HESITATION IN ENGINE AND PUTTING ME AND MY FAMILY IN CLOSE CALLS FOR ACCIDENTS.
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH THE ENGINE ABRUPTLY SHUT OFF. THE DASHBOARD READ "SHIFT TO P THEN DESIRED GEAR". THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN COMING TO A STOP. ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE ENGINE CAUSES THE STARTER TO RUN FOR ABOUT 45 SECONDS AND THEN THE ENGINE WILL SLOWLY SPUTTER TO LIFE. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND THERE ARE A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SPANNING BACK OVER 4 YEARS.

CALLED JEEP AND WAS ADVISED TO GET IT INTO SERVICE IMMEDIATELY DUE TO KNOWN ISSUES, BUT THEY WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO MAKE A COMPLAINT. JEEP HAS BEEN TRYING TO STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING, AT STOPS, HARD SHIFTS, BRAKE COMES ON AUTOMATICALLY, COMPLETELY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING, AND OIL HAS SOMEHOW DISAPPEARED FROM IT, BUT NO LEAKS.
