2015 JEEP CHEROKEE Engine Problems

We own a 2015 Jeep Cherokee 2.4 L FWD vehicle. In the last 3 months, we have encountered ignition issues. We had several misfires when attempting to start the engine. We brought this to the attention of our local auto mechanic, and they were unsure of the cause. We spent over $1500 on inspections and repairs which included spark plug replacement, throttle body replacement, knock sensor replacement, ignition coils replacement and putting in a new battery. We have been to the auto shop several times because the check engine lights keeps coming on and the bills keep adding up. Engine Oil Filter/Oil housing is malfunctioned or defected for my model car. Malfunction is causing leakage into the engine which can result explosion or worst damage to vehicle. I am not completely certain which of the above selected items is the cause of my vehicle malady, though I have been instructed by a mechanic that it could be the drive train maybe (I could be misremembering). At any rate, the vehicle stalls at random intervals, without advance notification of a problem. While driving, vehicle shuts off or engine dies without a warning. I have to wait about 30 seconds until it starts again. Very dangerous.

I was about half a mile from my job when I lost most of my engine power (my daily commute is about 9 min each way - 3 miles and a speed limit of 40). I was accelerating uphill from a red light and I reached about 15 miles an hour before I realized I did not have the power to get more speed. I pulled in and noticed white smoke billowing from my car but did not ever see a check engine light. I had a few coworkers come outside to take a look . There was still heavy white smoke. I got it towed to the garage we take our fleet trucks. My piston rings were compromised (is the theory) and it lead to a multitude of problems even though I stopped driving it within half a mile of noticing anything irregular about my car.

While I am driving and the kuds in car, the car completely power off calling into park before switching on. I was in a big big trouble. I checked online and found that cars 2014-2017 had a call for PTU that causes the same horrible situation that I was in. It was a nightmare. I used my car that never face any problem where I take of it and use it usually for serving my kids driving them to their school and activities. I face the problem 3 times yesterday 2 timed and thanks God while I was on the traffic light but to day is horrible while on the road.

The timing cover gasket is leaking oil and burning.

I keep getting a "service shifter" alarm intermittently. When this happens it kills my speedometer, and disables the different drive modes available to me. Repairs have been unable to locate the fault, nor has the dealer any good reasoning why. Alarm will go away if I pull over, shut off the car, and open the door. Upon restarting the car it usually goes away for a day or more, but it always comes back. It seems to be worse when it gets colder, and the car has been running longer.

Service shifter light is on all the time. Not sure why or what is happening. There is a notification on the dash that just says "service shifter' and all the lights are red by the gear shifter.

Car has been jerking almost immediately after buying it brand new. Purchased 2015 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Dec 1, 2020 & Sept 2021 discovered something wrong with transmission, mechanic researched jeep & said previously there was a RECALL- TCM- transfer case reflash module, dealership/ manufacturer will not response to my calls to help with this problem.

1. My car has fully turned off while driving, on two separate occasions. The first time was a slow crawl and it shut off. The second time I was going roughly 30mph and it shut off. Both times, it shut off (including the instrument cluster, entertainment console, lights, etc.) after a couple of seconds everything came back on, but I had to put it into drive and recycle the key to get the engine to start back up. 2. THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT POPPED ON ONLY AFTER HAVING IT FOR 2 MONTHS.

Rocker bearings failed in the rear of the head. This impacted the right side intake camshaft. They replaced the rear intake and rear camshaft, rear and front rockers and also valve cover gaskets and upper intake seals. The only indication of a problem was a tapping sound coming from the engine. No warning lights on the console. If this had gone UN repaired the engine could have seized at any time while traveling causing an accident. The repair technician indicated that the new parts would not fail the way the original equipment failed. Chrysler has refused to pay for the repair.

Car stalls multiple times over the last month. With zero warning it died in front of my wife in ongoing traffic. Multiple error messages are on dash. Restarts when shutting car off then back on.

I have had my vehicle checked out several times over the malfunction of the stop and start system. Several times it has been worked on and looked at. Once they claimed they replaced a part under the hood in Richmond, kentucky. This issue has been going on for over two years. It had been cutting off and not starting back. Now its advanced into a jerking from a hesitation to switch between gears. The malfunction light keeps coming back on. And sometimes it has to be restarted several times just to reset it. It was on 7/30/2021 when someone besides me noticed this issue. But its been doing me this way for last three months.

2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited. While driving the vehicle, lost power abruptly and without warning in traffic on 5 occasions between May 2021 and July. Car towed and taken to dealership each time with repair notations indicating short in PDC causing fuse for ignition coils to blow. That was replaced. An additional note when the car failed again indicated an internal short in PCM which was replaced. I've spent thousands of dollars, not to mention the safety issue of stalling in traffic. The last time, I was on a very busy freeway and didn't have enough power to fully move to the shoulder. I counted about 3 near misses with cars about to hit me. I don't have every *Invoice* as they didn't return them all to me but will upload what I do have. This is a serious issue and I'm not getting any resolution with the dealership.

MY CAR JUMPS FORWARD WHILE DRIVING AND REVERSING. RECENTLY BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY MY CAR JUMPED AND I HIT MY MAILBOX. THE JUMPING IS A BIG JUMP FORWARD THAT THE CAR FEELS LIKE I HIT SOMETHING EVERYTIME. IT JUMPS TYPICALLY EVERY OTHER DAY WHILE DRIVING.

RIDES SMOOTH WHEN ON HIGHWAY GOING HIGH SPEEDS. AT LOW SPEEDS JERKS AND STALLS. ALSO GAS TANK LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON NO ONE IS ABLE TO FIX IT FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG.

THIS JEEP HAS 90K MILES ON IT. WE NOTICED A VERY SEVERE OIL LEAK AND DISCOVERED THAT OIL WAS LEAKING OUT OF THE ENGINE OIL COOLER FILTER HOUSING ADAPTER. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PART TO MALFUNCTION. OIL IS LEAKING ON TO THE MANIFOLD AND ENGINE BLOCK. THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE IF IGNORED. THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN BACK-ORDERED AND WE ARE UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE.

FOR THE PAST THREE WEEKS THE CAR HAS BEEN SHOWING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS BUT UNTIL RECENTLY THE TRANSMISSION REMAINED IN NEUTRAL AND FILED TO SHIFT TO ANOTHER GEAR. IT MAKES A LOUD CLANG SOUND WHEN SHIFTING GEARS AND AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS DOWN AFTER. THE PARKING BRAKE WOULDN'T DISENGAGE, A MESSAGE SAYING "SERVICE PARKING BRAKE" APPEARS ON SCREEN. WHEN ACCELERATING THE CAR DOES NOT RESPOND NORMALLY. THERE WAS ANOTHER MESSAGE SHOWING "TRANMISSION SERVICE" WHEN THE CAR WAS ON PARK AND THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND MADE A LOUD ROAR ROUND JERKING FORWARD.

IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS I START MY 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE AS USUAL, SHORTLY AFTER DRIVING WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON AND THE DASH SAYS CANNOT SWITCH GEARS UNLESS IN PARK. THE OIL FILTER HOUSING IS MADE OF PLASTIC, CAUSING IT TO EASILY BREAK MOST LIKELY DUE TO OVERTIGHTENING WHEN GETTING AN OIL CHANGE, THEN THIS CAUSES OIL TO LEAK ONTO THE EXHAUST PIPE BEING A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD, SINCE MOST PEOPLE GO GET THEIR OIL CHANGED AT A BUSINESS NOT THEMSELVES YOU WOULDN'T KNOW UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE AND NOBODY WILL ACCEPT FAULT, JEEP NEEDS TO RECALL AND MAKE THIS HOUSING OUT OF METAL TO PREVENT THIS ISSUE.

I DIDN'T GET 1 MILE FROM THAT STOP SIGN WHEN THE CAR DIED AGAIN. SAME WARNING LIGHT. THIS IS COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY HAD I MADE IT TO THE INTERSTATE AND IT STALLED THERE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT. IT TYPICALLY HAPPENS ON THE FIRST START OF THE DAY. THE CAR WILL RUN AND THEN START RUNNING REALLY ROUGH FOR NO REASON AND USUALLY STALLS OUT.
