The check engine light started flashing and the vehicle would not go over 25 miles per hour. Thankfully I was pulling into a parking lot when the reduction in speed occurred. If this had happened on the interstate (which I commute on regularly) it could have been extremely dangerous. Hyundai dealership never returned my calls about service, I had the vehicle towed to another service provider (Jensen Tire & Auto) who performed a diagnostic which showed codes P0300/0302/1326/0011. They also said the engine was 2 quarts low on oil and there was no sign of an oil leak. The vehicle mileage was at 74344. I had oil changed at 71579 miles with full synthetic, and at 66230 miles prior to that. There is no sign of oil leak where I park the car. I regularly change my oil and service my car according to the manufacturer recommendation (just not at...
My truck was stolen so most likely they messed up my ignition. Before this my lights keep going out every time I replace one a different one goes out. Wheel always going out of air and my truck always jerking when driving or breaking. I am a victim of the “Kia and Hyundai” boys in Baltimore city that’s going around stealing people cars.
Vehicle was called in 2022 for recall #209 and nothing was found. On 07/02/2023 vehicle engine light came on and started flashing. Took to local parts store and diagnostic was performed and showed to be vehicle bearing rod was bad. Vehicle is slow to advance on acceleration.
This vehicle was maintained exceptionally well! But yet cylinder # 1 went out. No compression.
I am writing to bring a critical matter to your attention concerning my 2017 Hyundai Tucson. On July 1st, 2021, while driving my vehicle, I encountered a sudden loss of engine power with no prior warning. Concurrently, the engine light illuminated and began flashing, indicating a severe problem. After reaching the AutoZone store located at 720 Dairy Ashford, I promptly explained the situation to their staff, who graciously conducted a diagnostic check on my vehicle. To my astonishment, they informed me that my car had a complete lack of engine oil, and Code #P1326 was being displayed, despite recently undergoing servicing at North Freeway Hyundai for an open recall and at my local Firestone. Both service centers even performed a complimentary inspection, during which no issues were reported regarding the engine oil level. However, I did inform the Firestone location about a noticeable difference in performance before they serviced my...
my 2017 Tucson started using more oil between oil changes back in January/Feb of this year (2023). I took it to the Hyundai dealership I purchased it from & they performed an 'oil test' on it @ that time. It past the test & they told me everything was fine. On Good Friday 4/7/23 I had an oil change, again was told everything looked good & was fine. On Friday 5/12/23 (5 weeks to the day)I was on way home from work, my vehicle started to make a horrible banging noise. Soon as I got home, my husband checked it & vehicle was down 4 quarts of oil. Not one sensor light came on warning me of this either. How in 5 weeks did vehicle consume 4 qrts? I park on pavement and there are ZERO oil puddles under vehicle. I had vehicle towed back to the same dealership, I...
Rapid oil loss and complete engine failure at an intersection. 110,000 miles. Unexceptable.
My engine failed in my car due to the engine over consuming oil. There is a recall with Hyundai with certain engines consuming to much oil. My cylinder one has completely gone out. Hyundai refuses to fix. It has been down since the end of February early March. The dealership has had my car since April 7
Engine seized and needs to be replaced, possibly due to bad rod bearing. Was also excessively burning oil and constantly needing to be checked prior to seizing.
Vehicle has approx. 86,000 miles on it. Engine light came on in the middle of the desert. Was able to get vehicle into Hyundai dealership and they are recommending a new engine (upper engine problem specifically a valve issue; however, cannot guarantee for $8,000 price tag that just fixing the valve would totally fix the problem. Hence, the brand new engine recommendation). Not under manufacturer's warranty due to second ownership. TV commercials & website show first owner warranty info only, not second owner info. Feels misleading on Hyundai's part. Being stranded in the middle of the desert could be life-threatening when engine goes out. I've seen numerous engine complaints on the NHTSA website; however, would like to see an investigation into 2017 Hyundai Tuscon engines and why they are having so many verifiable problems. Dealerships can hide behind the facts that this specific VIN# related engine has not had a...
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, an abnormal knocking sound started with the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the oil level was extremely low. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to service recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V727000 (Engine); however, the recall was not related to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000. The consumer stated that the vehicle was not repaired. The issue still persists, and the oil light never comes on. An oil consumption test from the mechanic was requested and the vehicle is to be checked after 1000 miles. Unfortunately, the oil only lasts approximately 400-600 miles before the engine starts knocking.
I have had engine problems with this car since I purchased in 2017. These issues range from transmission overheating, water pump replacement, and most recently, the car's engine failed while driving. The vehicle is now with the Hyundai dealer, who confirmed that a new engine replacement is required. My wife, toddler and 6-year old son where in the car when it failed while stopped in traffic. The car has excessive oil burn; therefore, I would purchase and add oil every 2-3 months to ensure oil levels do not reach an unsafe level, on top of regular oil changes. The oil light has never turned on despite these issues. The engine light came on only once after managing to restart the car and struggling to get the car to the Hyundai dealership after numerous start and stops on the way. For a car with less than 100k miles (6 years old),...
Engine needs replacement, possibly due to worn rod bearings. This matches the issue with Hyundai recall #209, which was for approximately 100,000 of the same year Tuscons. However, I was excluded from the recall and Hyundai now will not consider this a recall issue, even though it appears to be the same defect
Problem with the engine
Hello, I'm contacting you re: the nationwide Hyundai Oil Consumption issue w/ certain makes & models. I own a 2017 Tuscon w/ just over 56K miles on it. Late last year, we drove my car from our home in Ky to Gatlinburg TN. While we were driving thru Cades Cove, my car acted up, so we found a local repair shop & they looked my car over & determined I needed 4 QUARTS OF OIL added! My car was almost BONE DRY!!! I recently finished my 3 trips to the dealership for the 'oil consumption tests' I'm not sure what was done to my car on each visit, EXCEPT I do know on visit #2, they cleaned my engine/pistons & changed the oil. After that, I drove it aprox 1582 miles & 'lost' 3/4 of a quart of oil. They Hyundai Co seems to think this is acceptable, however, I...
Engine is still under warranty. Only 70,000 miles on it. Started burning massive amounts of oil leading to acceleration issues and low pressure. No oil light ever came on. We realized it was bone dry, in between intervals of recommended oil change. We filled up and monitored. Car is burning over a quart of oil every 1,000 miles causing unsafe driving conditions and costly repairs that are outside of the recommended maintenance in owner manual. Hyundai dealership refuses to approve oil consumption test. Case management will not return my communication. Car has been in the shop for 5 weeks without an answer. This is happening to thousands of people. People who didn’t realize it early enough are being left stranded with seized engines and Hyundai taking no ownership even though most are under warranty still.
Driving into work on Friday June 2, 2023 my engine started making a noise that got progressively worse as I got to work. The engine was knocking loudly and I was not comfortable driving it home. I called AAA and had the vehicle towed to a Hyundai Dealership. The car has 77,780 on it. I bought it used in 2019. The engine is no good. No lights no indication of any problems just that horrible noise. I was told because I bought it used the powertrain warranty wouldn't apply. I did buy an extended warranty and am now waiting to see if they will cover the engine. I am now up to $300.00 in "diagnostic" fees. I knew the engine was gone I could have saved my money but of course need to now jump through hoops to see if this will be covered. Not holding my breath I am...
Car has been hesitating to start this last week, Friday 6/2/23 warning lights came on & air conditioning stopped working. My local Hyundai shop is booked 2 weeks out so I already have an appt for 6/13/23. But on 6/2 I barely made it to a shop close to my home for a diagnostic check. Code P1111 was stored, cleared & retested. It's for fuel pump, circuit was tested & no faults were found & test driven with no return of code. Picked up car on Monday 6/5 with no issues. Tuesday car hesitated to start, 3rd time it started with no issue & no warning light/s. Today 6/7 around noon while I was making a turn the car completely shut off without warning. I've also noted that the oil level is always low, I have to check & put in oil at least every 2 weeks but there doesn't...
My car sounded awful when going 30mph. The oil light flickered on and off when sitting still. I took it to 2 mechanics and my engine is shot. I can not safely drive my car. Hyundai can not sell me a new motor because they have discontinued to make a long block motor for my car. My car has very little power and I was lucky enough to make it to work. The mechanics state there is a ton of metal in the engine. I have changed the oil regularly. My car was using oil and I called a dealership the soonest they could get me in was 3 weeks out. I still owe a nice bit of money on my car and now I am having a difficult time finding a 1.6 T engine. No option for a new engine only a re built engine which runs $6,700.00 and...
Several days ago, my daughter informed me that she heard a grinding noise from the engine while driving the car. I drove the car did not hear a grinding noise but noticed the car had little to no acceleration. Fluid levels were checked and found to be ok. The next day, my daughter told me the check engine light was illuminated and blinking. I checked fluid levels again and drove the car and noticed same engine acceleration issue as the day before. On May 23, scheduled car for service and diagnostic to determine the issue and service technician identified an engine "knock" during diagnostic and recommended I take the Hyundai Tucson to a local Hyundai dealer for service.
Excessive oil consumption for years now. Up to 2 qts/week based on average driving 700-1000 miles driven per week
I was driving over the Burlington Bristol Bridge on 3/15/2023 when my car lost power, with no warning. My check engine light came on and was blinking. I coasted over the bridge, immediately pulled over and had the car towed to my local Hyundai Dealer. I was told my car had no oil in it. My low oil light never came on ever. Dealer told me "someone probably didn't put enough oil in the car" I requested an oil consumption test. Drove the car for 1000 miles, came back and they told me the car was "fine" I drove the car another 1000 miles and checked my oil and was on the L. I would have ended up breaking down again. The code my car threw was P1326 which they told me was low oil, I found out that is untrue. It was a knocking sensor. My car burned 3...
My engine is knocking and I was told after taking the car to the dealership that it is a rod making that sound but my car does not show up on the recall. I think something was overlooked and know of other instances similar to this.
I had recently just had gotten and oil change less than 2 months ago, I had to take my car back to the dealership because it was taking a while for the car to pick up speed. Once I took it into the dealership they told me my engine needs to be replaced. I know someone else that I know that has a hyundai as well and their engine completely gave out as well. What's going on with the engines. My car doesn't even have 100,000 miles on it yet, there's no way my engine should've gave out.
On the morning of April 22, 2023, I brought the vehicle in for a routine oil change and suddenly heard a loud knocking noise coming from the engine. The mechanic advised me to immediately bring the vehicle to a Hyundai service center. At no point was there any alert or warning sign such as a check engine light. I was left stranded with my newborn. The vehicle was brought into Freehold Hyundai in New Jersey for emergency service, and on April 25, 2023, I was informed that the vehicle needed a new engine.
I took the vehicle in for a recall for unrelated issues to this problem at 90,000 miles (July 6 2022). The technician noted that the vehicle was leaking oil and it needed an oil pan reseal. I brought the vehicle back for this service on March 6 2023. Between the initial recall service and this service, I noticed that the vehicle was consuming a significant amount of oil, beyond regular consumption. On several occasions, after about 1000 miles after the oil was changed, I was adding 2-3 quarts of oil to the vehicle. Moreover, when the oil was changed, the technician who changed the oil, noted that the oil was very dirty despite only going 3000-4000 miles between oil changes. I mentioned this to the Lehigh Valley Hyundai Service Desk and that it was highly unlikely that an oil pan reseal would resolve this. They ordered an oil consumption test...
Engine fail, no warning till it happened, her car just stopped at night in the middle of the road while she was driving, she then smelled something burning and got right out of the car and called a tow truck. The car was towed to a Hyundai dealership where we were later told it was an engine block, and the car was basically burning gas. Cars been in the shop since January because the engine had to be shipped in parts from overseas. When the new engine had finally arrived, they took the old engine out and saw that the Pistons headshot shrapnel through the starter and through this turbo part, which is also now on back order. I do not know if the vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer, or the police. I feel very uneasy about the safety of this vehicle given everything that’s happened and even...
Engine stopped working without warning. The car is at the dealer, they are recommending a new engine and turbo.
I am having a problem with my engine consuming oil. I also had loss of power in the engine when I was pulling out on a highway which was very dangerous. I took the car back to the dealership and they replaced the whole exhaust system and said it was dirty. I had another part replaced last year that they told me was dirty due to oil. I have taking the car back to the dealership for oil consumption test and the engine is still consuming oil. It is dangerous to drive because the engine can seize or I can lose power on the road. I have been in touch with Hyundai corporation many times and nothing is being done. my car has been brought in to the dealership six times since October last year due to this issue. The dealership told me that they are replacing engines but they...
Vehicle was parked for 2 weeks while I was out of town. I started the car and when I drove down the street, there was no acceleration or power. I turned around and went right back home. I checked the oil, and it was empty. There was no oil under the car. Having the vehicle towed to the Dealer 05/02/23. I am concerned about all of the complaints of exactly the same problem with the engine and want to document my situation.
Hi, I live in Levittown, NY, USA. I am a second owner of this vehicle. Currently, my vehicle has a knocking sound and car stopped working 4 times this week. Twice on a busy road, and I was almost hit from behind by another car. I also saw the company recall notice for my model describing similar problems. I took my car to local nearby dealer’Advantage Hyundai’ at Hicksville, NY for repair and spoke with service advisor MR. Patrick Lerouzic. First of all very rude person to talk to, he informed me that I have to leave my vehicle for more than a month at site, just to begin with the vehicle. NO assurance or time line when he will start looking at my vehicle and straight refused to provide any loaner car As the car is not safe to drive, I am forced to leave my car at dealer...
The vehicle started exhibiting symptoms of oil consumption in February 2022 and I had it into the dealer because I thought there was a leak but there was lack of power and the car seemed like it wanted to fail. After months of adding oil due to the excessive consumption, it just stalled and died in February 2023. I received an extended warranty for 150,000 miles on the engine and the dealer denied my claim and placed blame on me because there was sludge in the engine, lack of maintenance records even though I provided thorough maintenance records.
Engine was burning oil and depleted all of the oil before oil change was due. There were no warning lights to indicate low oil pressure and car stopped accelerating properly almost causing us to be hit when pulling out into traffic. Vehicle has continued to burn oil and has to be checked constantly and oil added or the problem will reoccur
Around 80K miles, the oil consumption really started to become an issue and I took it to a few repair shops and no one could figure out what the problem was even though the car was consuming oil faster than it should have been. It wasn’t leaking, it wasn’t burning off, it was just using oil somewhere in the car. I checked the oil weekly and topped off if needed. I was driving down the interstate when the car completely lost power and would not accelerate, putting me, my family, and other drivers in serious danger as the normal speed for the interstate is 70 mph and I was surrounded by other vehicles who essentially had to slam on brakes to avoid hitting us. After pulling off the road, I checked the oil and it was not even reading on the dipstick even though I had just filled it the...
Daughter had the car 2 months and went on a weekend trip. Three hours into the trip her tucson started to make a load noise. She pulled into a shop and had them check the oil but as soon as he started the car he refused to look any further and told her to take it to a dealer around the corner. As soon as she pulled in the mechanic said it sounded like a blowen motor. Now 2 months later still no car because hyundai would not return and claim reports and the dealer i bought it from thinks they should fix it because he has talked to local dealers and the agree. The local machanic took a look at it and said it blow a rod. From what i've found out that this is a common issue. There are no recalls for this vehicle. the car has about...
My Hyundai Tucson beginning at 65,000 miles Began consuming more oil than normal. There was a transfer of title through a family member with the vehicle and was not aware that in that case the cars 100,000 mile warranty is no longer valid. It is then reduced to half that or 60,000, one of the 2. I brought the fact up to the service rep at Hyundai that it was going through a lot of oil and they stated that it was normal with multiple cars that Hyundai produced. The oil was burning off and no detection of leak and no check engine light has ever came on. It never over heated. I then brought this up to Hyundai at about 92,000 miles and thats when I learned about the warranty being voided because of the transfer. The car at the time is running just fine but still burning oil...
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while his daughter was driving 60 MPH, the vehicle started shuddering. The check engine warning light and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact’s daughter veered to the side of the roadway. The contact stated that he met his daughter on the side of the roadway and attempted to restart the vehicle several times; however, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the engine had seized. The mechanic referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V727000 (Engine); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,689.
So my engine has a lawsuit with Hyundai because the type of engine that is in it is causing it to consume more oil. My cylinder one has completely gone out because of it consuming to much oil. It is a huge safety problem because it could have shut off while I was driving it. Hyundai dealership is trying their best to not to have to pay for it. My check engine light came on and said spark plugs and coils needed to be changed. We changed them and they were coated in oil which isn't supposed to happen. My light was still on after changing them and the code reader was saying cylinder 1 misfire. I take it to the dealership and they said cylinder one has gone out. I think they dismissed it because the coils and plus were clean but we just changed them and maybe drove...
The engine knocks norms oil fast after several oil changes and no visible leaks Not good
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. Additionally, the RPM was fluctuating. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
March 6, 2023 the check engine came on and I came out of pocket $900 for new Ignition coils.. A month later, the engine starts knocking and now they're saying that the engine is completely bad and would have to replace it. The engine burned alot of oil in that time. I was getting oil changes before the oil change mileage mark. I'm stuck at this moment because there is no recall for the engine for my vin.
On 4/8/2023 I began hearing a ticking noise coming from my engine while driving. I took my car into Sid Dillon Hyundai Dealership of Lincoln NE on 4/10 and picked it up on 4/11. They completed 2 recalls (valve cap replace and ABS kit replace) and an inspection on the engine. The recalls did not fix the issue. They determined that the cylinder 3 rod bearing has excessive clearance of .37 MM. They advised that the vehicle should not be driven as it could lock up at any time. They found that the engine needs a replacement. I was quoted $13,000 for a new engine replacement. They let me know that there has been extended warranted for this exact issue on the 2.0 and 2.4 engine. However, my vehicle has the 1.6 engine which was not included in the extended warranty although it has the same issue.
Excessive Engine Oil Consumption. Have had this problem close to Two Years. Keep going back to the Dealer they have done multiple Oil cconsumption checks an engine Combustion cleaning was done. Was told that the car needs an engine replacement but manufacturer refuses to so.
Engine stalled while stopped at a traffic light on busy highway. Driver turned off engine and attempted to restart, but engine would not restart. Vehicle had to be towed from roadway. Oil level was checked and the dipstick was dry and crusted. Oil was added to engine and engine eventually restarted. However, there is now a severe knocking noise. The vehicle was towed to Hyundai dealership. Dealership advised engine needs replaced. Dealership advised Hyundai discontinued engine so there is not a new engine available. Hyundai advised there is not a remanufactered/rebuilt engine available. There was not ever a check engine or low engine oil level light illuminated prior to engine failure.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle started driving rough and lost motive power before going into LIMP Mode. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine oil level was low. The contact stated that the engine oil had recently been changed. The contact also stated that vehicle had been previously serviced and that the catalytic converter was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 93,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to the Knock Sensor Detection System. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,600.
My vehicle did not accelerate when I pressed the gas - also I am low on oil and I’m not due for an oil change, meaning there is an oil consumption issue with the engine. Something is wrong with the engine/oil.
The Check engine light never went on and I did not cause any harm to the car. I was simply driving and all of a sudden the engine sounds like the car will explode with no warning. 58,000 miles . The car was checked out by the dealer and they are recommending a completely new engine . They have no explanation for me.
It's like the transmission has hesitation before it decides to go. I step on the gas and it doesn't go right away, it takes a couple seconds and then the rpms go up really high. There has been no accident but this has happened many times.
Been having issues with the vehicle for about 10,000 miles, started misfiring replaced all plugs and 1 coil. Started misfiring again. Turns out a valve got burnt up drop into cylinder and cause a compression failure. I’m in the hole 16,000 dollars on a vehicle that is going to need a engine replacement on a engine that is over 5k
