Appears to be an issue with the Dual Clutch Transmission. Makes the suv jolt after starting, waiting in traffic/red light and/or randomly driving around. Speed is not a determine factor in causing this “jolt”, for it happens at any rate of speed. Fear is the suv will randomly just stall and/or completely give out while driving, especially on the highway!

A knocking noise from the engine that increases in frequency as the engine rpm increases. Reduced power and/or hesitation and vibration. Illumination of the “check engine” light in the instrument cluster. Illumination of the “engine oil pressure” warning lamp.
#11558750 |
Body - exterior. Door handles stop working and cannot open the doors. Engine - massive oil consumption issue. Having to put in roughly 10 QUARTS of oil in between oil changes, but low oil warning light inside of the cluster also never comes on to let you know if the oil is low.

Hyundai completed the recall in their system after inspection when the recall was not addressed. Months later I am experiencing check engine light and same symptoms from recall, and hyundai is booked out two months and telling me that the recall does not exist. Code reads severely damaged rod bearings.

Vehicle doesn't want to accelerate when it is suppose to. Press on the gas pedal and it goes to the floor and when it does decide to accelerate it erratic. VERY scary and unsafe. Has almost gotten my daughter and I in an accident.
#11557356 |
Without any notice the engine completely seized up and now I'm unable to even get a new engine because the engine is discontinued even though federal law mandates parts are to be available for 10 years.
#11557068 |
The car does not accelerate from a stopped position and when driving it does not shift or allow acceleration. This is especially an issue on hills or when trying to increase speed on the highway.
#11554299 |
Cracked cylinder wall in engine, after major oil consumption issues, complaints filed with dealership, corporate offices, did oil consumption tests and further hyundai corporate recommended an engine clean out which helped for a while however last year they had to replace my catalytic converter because it was "clogged", but still maintain that it didn't have to do with the oil consumption issue. No warning lights came on engine just wouldnt accelerate properly when pulling out in traffic, made noises and would not perform as it should. I have all service records pertaining to this vehicle since we have owned it. Dealership is wanting us to pay 8k for repairs because hyundai says its not covered under the recall .

When I'm stopped at a light and go to push on the gas, the vehicle doesn't move, then all of a sudden it just takes off. Next the exterior driver side door handle doesn't open I have to pull on it a few times then it opens, there's like a delay. There are tones of complaints online about this, it's like the 2017 model's were just looked over when it came to SAFETY. My car only has 70K. Thank you.

I am having to add oil on a weekly bases. My vehicle makes sudden jerks and acts as it may shut off even while driving. constantly.
#11554260 |
Engine light came on and then went off twice so I checked the dipstick and there was no oil on it. So went to Express Oil Change and they ended up performing oil change- but there was none in it. Car could have stalled. Yes. I have to keep going to having oil added to keep the car running. There isn’t a leak anywhere, yet the oil level keeps dropping. I took to a Hyundai dealership and they told me they would perform oil consumption test but then called the next day (after I left my car there) and said they would not do it because I am the second owner. No. Yes. Engine light came on but when back off two times within the same hour which prompted me to check the oil.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds, an abnormal knocking sound was coming from the vehicle with the vehicle hesitating upon depression of the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where a code reader determined there was a defect in engine cylinder #2. The contact had the coil pack and spark plugs replaced. Several weeks later, the failure returned, and the vehicle was taken to a second independent mechanic. The mechanic determined that the engine bolts on the manifold and the turbo charger had blown. The contact was informed that a further diagnostic test was needed to determine the extent of the damage to the engine. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was referred to a local dealer. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where...

Since I was notified of this recall on November 16, 2021, I have diligently followed the instructions provided, and my vehicle has been taken to a Hyundai service center for inspection and necessary repairs. However, I am deeply disappointed and concerned that despite the recall and subsequent corrective actions, my vehicle has continued to experience persistent issues related to the engine. I have experienced several engine problems, including repeated transmission replacements (twice) and dual-clutch replacements (three times), which have had a significant impact on the overall performance and safety of my vehicle. The frequency of these issues and the potential consequences, including engine stalling and increased risk of accidents, are alarming. I understand that Hyundai has taken measures to address the recall issue, but it appears that the corrective actions have not resolved the problem in my vehicle. Given the seriousness of the engine-related concerns outlined in the recall, I...

THE CAR STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION DO NOT ACCELERATE MORE THAN 60 miles per hour and turned on the signal the engine and to get to 60 mph it goes slow little by little without strength since it only reaches 2000 rpm it does not go higher than there. In addition, all the lights on the blackboard came on, which means that I can't tell if there is something wrong with the car or not because everything is on. The proximity sensors don't work, and I get the code for engine is P1326 and the anti-Lock Brake System the computer show the code C1211-02, C1207-02, C1210-02, C1208-02 Y C1209-01.I took it to the Hyundai agency in Miami Lake where I bought it and where they told me that the car had 10 years or 100,000 miles of warranty and when I arrived the person who received me without...

I had my engine replaced in match 2023 due to stalled vehicle. After several trips to hyundai. Now just 6 months later and as off present my check engine light is back on . I took my car in to get the immobilizer installed from another recall. The dealership is giving me run around. I am confused why if they replaced my engine with a new one why do I have the check engine on again just some time later. I keep all maintenance up on my vehicle. Additionally now my heat is not blowing hot it's blowing cool and consuming large sum of anti freeze. I have yet another appointment with dealership and have to leave my truck they don't have any loamers available so I have to figure out how to get to work and my son to school on my own all while paying car note for...

Near miss accidents due to engine failing as a way KT of rapid oil consumption. Occurred twice causing near miss accidents at high speeds on expressway. Vehicle is currently undergoing oil consumption tests with dealer
#11548139 |
The 2017 Hyundai Tucson is unsafe to drive. Purchased the vehicle with 62000 miles and have had issues with the vehicle since shortly after purchase. Vehicle consumes oil at a rapid pace - in between 3000 mile oil changes additional oil is needing to be added within 600 miles, while driving the vehicle on the freeway at 70 miles an hour vehicle stalls and goes into limp mode - huge safety issue. Vehicle has been at Hyundai three times now - first time Hyundai covered all of the diagnostics and repairs, mainly electrical for the engine. Second time vehicle was stalling again and diagnosis was catalytic converter needed to be replaced, caused due to manufacturing error that is causing oil consumption - Hyundai would not cover, out of pocket cost $3600. A month later vehicle stalled and was going into limp mode again, check engine light on and flashing. Took...

Car engine needs to be replaced. As soon as it hit 100k miles the turbo super charge something is faulty or defected. Smoke comes out the back pipe, car always jerked but now it’s not accelerating at all. We kept up with maintenance care such as oil changes. Hyundai will not cover because it’s over the 100k warranty

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while starting and while driving the vehicle, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the vehicle. The check engine warning light was flashing. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the spark plugs were dead, and the mechanic turned off the check engine warning light. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact took possession of the vehicle, but after driving for approximately 90 miles, the check engine warning light started flashing. The contact stated that the engine continued knocking. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 101,000.

Purchased the 2017 Hyundai Tucson used (2nd owner) with 62000 miles, before the vehicle was driven 10000 miles the vehicle stalled on the freeway, when it started back up wouldn’t go over 40 miles -took to the nearest dealership where they replaced the entire electrical mainframe for the engine, covered by Hyundai. Vehicle stalled again and check engine light came on around 81000 miles, took to the dealership again and they diagnosed as catalytic converter needed to be replaced - out of pocket expense. A month later check engine light on again, back at the Hyundai dealership and diagnosed as engine failure. Hyundai is trying not to cover the engine, currently have an active case with Hyundai due to engine manufacturing errors/problems and problems with oil consumption - we were supposed to start the oil consumption test right around when the engine failed too.

Vehicle stalled on highway without any warning. It was towed to the local dealership. After inspection, determined there was no oil even though the car has been maintained on a regular basis with oil changes. Dealer does not want to replace engine but instead do another oil consumption test which will put us at risk for another stall in the middle of the road.

We are getting a Knock sensor ERROR & Oil consumption issue. So last year I had a few recalls on my car, I took it to the dealer for then to do the updates. One of the recalls was the knock sensor. Also last year, the check engine light come on and Tires plus said it was my Knock sensor. Tires Plus cleared the code and it was fine until I had an oil change due this month I still had 3000 miles before it was due and the check engine light came on again, But this time I couldn't drive over 20 mph. I had to get it towed to a mechanic in Collegeville. His diagnostics was it was the knock sensor, He told me that Hyundai knows this is a problem but won’t fix it until it presents a problem. That being said The Collegeville Mechanic said its...

My 2017 Hyundai Tuscon excessively consumed oil. I took it into Hyundai of Kirkland. I was informed an Oil Consumption test would be completed by the Service Advisor, Chris Z. First I had my oil changed, then I was told to bring the car back in around 1000 miles. the first time I brought the car in, I was over 1000 miles. Chris informed me he would rather me bring the car back in under 1000 miles than over 1000 miles. The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under TSB: 21-01-073H (Engine). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the engine was misfiring. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

When proceeding to move forward, the vehicle will sputter. Almost as if the vehicle is out of gas or not getting enough power to smoothly accelerate. This presents a very hazardous condition when leaving a red light or crossing an intersection. The vehicle jerks and sputters for about 2-4 seconds and then responds to the gas pedal and accelerates. Took it to the dealer and explained the problem and they said it's a known problem but there hasn't been a recommended fix and to drive the vehicle with the Turbo mode on. Even with Turbo mode on, the issue still persists.

Engine was experiencing issues as described in the existing safety recall for 2017 Hyundai Tucsons (failed knock test at Hyundai dealer). Hyundai is only covering one half of the cost as they say it is not covered by the existing recall.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle stalled but restarted. The check engine warning light was illuminated. While having an oil change at an independent mechanic, the contact was informed that the oil level was extremely low. The mechanic suggested to the contact to check the oil level regularly. The contact added approximately a 1/2 quart per month but had to add more oil over time. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the spark plugs, and ignition coil were replaced. The dealer performed two oil consumption tests however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed her that there was no compression in the engine. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 81,091.

Engine stalled in the middle of the highway. Could not get speed over 30mph to get out of the way of oncoming traffic even with the gas peddle pushed to the floor. Engine light flashing. Finally was able to get over to the side of the road with care bucking and jerking the whole way and stuttered to a stop.

6 Mar 2023 check engine light comes on. Took to my mechanic (they were closest to me) to put on machine to find out what the problem was; they state that it was the knock sensor and said to take it to the dealership and also let them know that it was down one quart of oil since the last oil change Jan 2023). Dealership took possession of vehicle on 8 March 23. Didn't begin repairs until 5 Apr. Then they state there was still noise from engine and found scoring on the cylinder walls and may be why it's consuming oil. Then they wanted oil change records. Finally, after providing records, "Hyundai approved replacement of engine". Legal battle ensued because they were charging for parts (lifters) that were no longer on my vehicle. Ended up having to pay for the full invoice after bullying and terroristic tactics only to...

Was driving down the road when it started making a metallic noises then all of a sudden the car sputtered, shot flames and smoke out from underneath the car and metal debris went flying. I had to tow my car to the dealership where they still have it. They said there is a hole in the engine block where a rod was thrown. After this incident we looked more into the problem to find that other Hyundaia have had the same issue. No check engine light came on, the car didn't over heat or anything it was random.

My Hyundai Tuscon has started to burn oil in 5/22 and I brought the car to the dealer (Pugi Hyundai in Downers Grove, IL) and the dealer at the time was directed by Hyundai that the vehicle needed to wait to do an oil consumption test. In 2-23 the vehicle was taken to Wilkens Hyundai and they preformed work on it. The vehicle still continued to burn oil. Hyundai stated I could not pull the dipstick and check oil. in 6-23, the I made a rapid stop in the vehicle and the oil pressure light briefly displayed and the engine started lightly sputtering at highway speeds causing a brief loss of power. At the same time, there was a brief period of blue smoke emitting from the exhaust causing visibility issues for me and other drivers. This event put me and other drivers at risk, The vehicle has been inspected...

Vehicle caught fire damaging wiring harness. engine has hesitation, AC system was damaged by fire. recall shows electrical system/engine and brakes in recall. Hyandai refused to replace citing missed oil changes. oil was changed regularly but not always at the dealer. These particular problems are exactly what the recall was for, problem is design and manufacturing the oil change issue has no effect. I want these fixed as soon as soon as possible

Excess Oil Consumption, Gear slipping, Dual Clutch, Fly Wheel, Oil found in the Turbo inlet, Clutch dust found in the transmission, Encouraged to just keep adding oil and drive the vehicle. Encouraged to drive the car when there was assumed to have contaminated transmission fluid. Encouraged to keep extra oil in my car since it was consuming oil rapidly but was still considered with in specification from Hyundai. Encouraged to add oil and drive the car after it stalled and quit working. This is a known defect with Hyundai's. Some even catch fire and also stall at high speeds while being driven. This is irresponsible, hazardous, and neglectful behavior that could have hurt or even worse killed someone.

I am not a mechanic but when I drive my vehicle, I feel like it doesn't have enough amps to move it along like it's missing something. I have pressed on the accelerator and heard a "winding noise" like the little engine that could but wants to. This is a horrible car!!! I have only had this vehicle for a month and it's a nightmare to drive. It sometimes does not accelerate, and the take-off is unbearable gives me the impression I will be rear ended one day. It even jerks and sputters, even the "rpm" feature shows high acceleration at inopportune times. I had a diagnostic performed and was told the plugs and ignition coils needed to be changed so I did that to the tune of $400 for the parts, and now not even a week later I am being told I need to change them again. How...

There is a problem with the dual clutch transmission on this 2017 Hyundai Tucson. There was a class action suit filed 2016 for transmission defects including the hesitation and shuddering issue and also grinding noises. I purchased this vehicle in 2020 with only 6600 (yes, hundred) miles not knowing of any problem or issues. 2023 in Tucson AZ when the weather started getting very warm end May, June I started noticing a bit of hesitation, sometimes like a grinding noise. This was not happening all of the time but from the reviews it happens when it gets warm. The shaking or shuddering as they call it and hesitation is very prominent and continuous now. When I had my car in for oil change in Tucson at the Hyundai dealer the service manager even drove it and said it was the dual clutch transmission. I asked about replacing the transmission then...

#11538092 |
Excessive oil consumption, vehicle hesitate and sputters when attempting to enter into traffic. Spark plugs expire early. We've been dealing with this worsening issue for 40k miles. My wife no longer feels safe driving this car. Dealership could not recreate the problem. They likely know what the problem is.

Oil drain plug fell out while driving down the highway and oil drained from engine causing internal engine damage. Low oil light came on and engine stalled within seconds. No warnings or lights were on before this happened. Stuck on the side of road for an hour with my family. Had it towed to Hyundai. Tech said drain plug was laying in the skid plate. No oil left in engine. They replaced filter and filled with oil the idled the car for some time and test drove. Tech said no power and there is internal engine damage. Service rep told me to call oil change facility where serviced last. They said cause was human error so warranty will not cover repairs. My car is still sitting at the dealership. Valvoline express care last serviced 22 days and 1336 miles before the drain plug fell out. Valvoline directed me to NHTSA...

I was driving the cars lights went off it started knocking then a scraping noise I looked under car the plastic cover was half off so I took off to see what the problem was 2 pieces of broken metal were on plastic cover and oil was coming out had to tow it took to dealership in Odessa where I bought to car still had packaging in it … dealership says my car is not one of the Tucson that has a recall on it…why?
#11536116 |
The engine started burning oil and making clanking noises. I took it to the dealership where they told me that the vehicle will need a full engine replacement. The vehicle has 76k miles and well maintained. Just out of warranty. It's unacceptable for a modern engine to have these sort of problems. And I'm not the only one. I know a lot of people have been having the same issues with this same type of vehicle.
#11535657 |
Starting in early 2023 my engine started consuming oil. My car only has 60,000 miles on it. It's ridiculous to do an engine consumption test because this is a known issue with a class action lawsuit having already been filed. There are numerous complaints out there about this issue and yet an engine recall has not been done. Hyundai needs forced to replace these engine NOW before someone is killed with one seizing in traffic. I just did an oil change in February. I clearly don't drive my vehicle often at all. I noticed an issue at acceleration all the sudden it would bog down and not take off. Thinking I needed to change the air filter I did just that and then the check engine light came on. I made it to an O'Reilly auto parts store with a code P0011. I checked my oil to find NOTHING on...

Just purchased a 2017 Tuscon less than a year ago. September 2022 with 62k miles on it and have had regular maintenance and suddenly low engine oil light came on. Also has a knocking sound. Car now only has 69k miles on it and and no mechanic will even do work on it. Says that car is known for engine issue. there is metal particals in the engine oil and oil is burning at large consumptions. Can not even drive car at this moment.

In March 2023 I took my car to the dealership for routine oil change and mentioned that I was having to put oil in the car in between oil changes. The dealership said they would send the information to Hyundai and call me with their response but they never called me. On April 14, 2023 I took the car back to dealership after it started rattling, the engine light came on and the car went into limp mode. I left it at the dealership for 2 days for service. I was told to drive it for 1,000 miles and return for oil check But I had to bring it back to dealership before 1,000 miles because it was burning oil again. I left it at the dealership for 1 day for service I was told to drive it for 1,000 miles and bring it back for oil check. On June13,...

The Hyundai Tucson 2017 we own experienced excessive oil burning, due to what appears to be a known Hyundai Engine failure which can cause the bearings to fail. My Hyundai Tucson appears to need new bearings which requires a full engine replacement based on how this car is made. This particular model does not have a recall on it however several other Hyundai models do for the very same known issue. This engine could have seized while driving at higher speeds on the freeway making this a serious safety matter. There does not appear to be a clear indicator of this excessive oil burning. The car was not leaking oil, was not smoking, but for some reason it was burning all oil between oil changes ( 3,000 miles). This 2017 engine should be able to go 5k miles between oil changes, however that was not the case. From reading various posts...

There are no warning lights. My car stalls when I go to take off from a stop. It stalled on an interstate. It acts like there is no power if you put your foot on the gas all the way down It will take off eventually or if you put it in park turn it off and back on it will go without histation. This has happened at stop lights as well. I am scared that I will get hit.
