2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON Engine Problems

Appears to be an issue with the Dual Clutch Transmission. Makes the suv jolt after starting, waiting in traffic/red light and/or randomly driving around. Speed is not a determine factor in causing this “jolt”, for it happens at any rate of speed. Fear is the suv will randomly just stall and/or completely give out while driving, especially on the highway!

A knocking noise from the engine that increases in frequency as the engine rpm increases. Reduced power and/or hesitation and vibration. Illumination of the “check engine” light in the instrument cluster. Illumination of the “engine oil pressure” warning lamp.

Body - exterior. Door handles stop working and cannot open the doors. Engine - massive oil consumption issue. Having to put in roughly 10 QUARTS of oil in between oil changes, but low oil warning light inside of the cluster also never comes on to let you know if the oil is low.

Hyundai completed the recall in their system after inspection when the recall was not addressed. Months later I am experiencing check engine light and same symptoms from recall, and hyundai is booked out two months and telling me that the recall does not exist. Code reads severely damaged rod bearings.

Vehicle doesn't want to accelerate when it is suppose to. Press on the gas pedal and it goes to the floor and when it does decide to accelerate it erratic. VERY scary and unsafe. Has almost gotten my daughter and I in an accident.

Without any notice the engine completely seized up and now I'm unable to even get a new engine because the engine is discontinued even though federal law mandates parts are to be available for 10 years.

The car does not accelerate from a stopped position and when driving it does not shift or allow acceleration. This is especially an issue on hills or when trying to increase speed on the highway.

Cracked cylinder wall in engine, after major oil consumption issues, complaints filed with dealership, corporate offices, did oil consumption tests and further hyundai corporate recommended an engine clean out which helped for a while however last year they had to replace my catalytic converter because it was "clogged", but still maintain that it didn't have to do with the oil consumption issue. No warning lights came on engine just wouldnt accelerate properly when pulling out in traffic, made noises and would not perform as it should. I have all service records pertaining to this vehicle since we have owned it. Dealership is wanting us to pay 8k for repairs because hyundai says its not covered under the recall .

When I'm stopped at a light and go to push on the gas, the vehicle doesn't move, then all of a sudden it just takes off. Next the exterior driver side door handle doesn't open I have to pull on it a few times then it opens, there's like a delay. The 2017 Hyundai Tucson is unsafe to drive. Purchased the vehicle with 62000 miles and have had issues with the vehicle since shortly after purchase. Car engine needs to be replaced. As soon as it hit 100k miles the turbo super charge something is faulty or defected. Purchased the 2017 Hyundai Tucson used (2nd owner) with 62000 miles, before the vehicle was driven 10000 miles the vehicle stalled on the freeway, when it started back up wouldn’t go over 40 miles -took to the nearest dealership where they replaced the entire electrical mainframe for the engine, covered by Hyundai. Vehicle stalled again and check engine light came on around 81000 miles, took to the dealership again and they diagnosed as catalytic converter needed to be replaced - out of pocket expense. A month later check engine light on again, back at the Hyundai dealership and diagnosed as engine failure. Hyundai is trying not to cover the engine, currently have an active case with Hyundai due to engine manufacturing errors/problems and problems with oil consumption - we were supposed to start the oil consumption test right around when the engine failed too.

Vehicle stalled on highway without any warning. It was towed to the local dealership. After inspection, determined there was no oil even though the car has been maintained on a regular basis with oil changes. My 2017 Hyundai Tuscon excessively consumed oil. I took it into Hyundai of Kirkland. I was informed an Oil Consumption test would be completed by the Service Advisor, Chris Z. First I had my oil changed, then I was told to bring the car back in around 1000 miles. the first time I brought the car in, I was over 1000 miles. Chris informed me he would rather me bring the car back in under 1000 miles than over 1000 miles. Makes a noise and oil was low with no leaks

When proceeding to move forward, the vehicle will sputter. Almost as if the vehicle is out of gas or not getting enough power to smoothly accelerate. This presents a very hazardous condition when leaving a red light or crossing an intersection. The vehicle jerks and sputters for about 2-4 seconds and then responds to the gas pedal and accelerates. Took it to the dealer and explained the problem and they said it's a known problem but there hasn't been a recommended fix and to drive the vehicle with the Turbo mode on. Even with Turbo mode on, the issue still persists.

Engine stalled in the middle of the highway. Could not get speed over 30mph to get out of the way of oncoming traffic even with the gas peddle pushed to the floor. Engine light flashing. Was driving down the road when it started making a metallic noises then all of a sudden the car sputtered, shot flames and smoke out from underneath the car and metal debris went flying. I had to tow my car to the dealership where they still have it. They said there is a hole in the engine block where a rod was thrown. After this incident we looked more into the problem to find that other Hyundaia have had the same issue. No check engine light came on, the car didn't over heat or anything it was random.

Vehicle caught fire damaging wiring harness. engine has hesitation, AC system was damaged by fire. recall shows electrical system/engine and brakes in recall. Hyandai refused to replace citing missed oil changes. oil was changed regularly but not always at the dealer. These particular problems are exactly what the recall was for, problem is design and manufacturing the oil change issue has no effect. I want these fixed as soon as soon as possible

Excess Oil Consumption, Gear slipping, Dual Clutch, Fly Wheel, Oil found in the Turbo inlet, Clutch dust found in the transmission, Encouraged to just keep adding oil and drive the vehicle. Encouraged to drive the car when there was assumed to have contaminated transmission fluid. Encouraged to keep extra oil in my car since it was consuming oil rapidly but was still considered with in specification from Hyundai. Encouraged to add oil and drive the car after it stalled and quit working. This is a known defect with Hyundai's. Some even catch fire and also stall at high speeds while being driven. This is irresponsible, hazardous, and neglectful behavior that could have hurt or even worse killed someone.

I am not a mechanic but when I drive my vehicle, I feel like it doesn't have enough amps to move it along like it's missing something. There is a problem with the dual clutch transmission on this 2017 Hyundai Tucson. There was a class action suit filed 2016 for transmission defects including the hesitation and shuddering issue and also grinding noises. Excessive oil consumption, vehicle hesitate and sputters when attempting to enter into traffic. Spark plugs expire early. We've been dealing with this worsening issue for 40k miles. My wife no longer feels safe driving this car. Dealership could not recreate the problem. They likely know what the problem is.

Oil drain plug fell out while driving down the highway and oil drained from engine causing internal engine damage. Low oil light came on and engine stalled within seconds. No warnings or lights were on before this happened. Stuck on the side of road for an hour with my family. Had it towed to Hyundai. Tech said drain plug was laying in the skid plate. No oil left in engine. They replaced filter and filled with oil the idled the car for some time and test drove. Tech said no power and there is internal engine damage. Service rep told me to call oil change facility where serviced last. They said cause was human error so warranty will not cover repairs. My car is still sitting at the dealership. I was driving the cars lights went off it started knocking then a scraping noise I looked under car the plastic cover was half off so I took off to see what the problem was 2 pieces of broken metal were on plastic cover and oil was coming out had to tow it took to dealership in Odessa where I bought to car still had packaging in it … dealership says my car is not one of the Tucson that has a recall on it…why?

The engine started burning oil and making clanking noises. I took it to the dealership where they told me that the vehicle will need a full engine replacement. The vehicle has 76k miles and well maintained. Just out of warranty. It's unacceptable for a modern engine to have these sort of problems. And I'm not the only one. The Hyundai Tucson 2017 we own experienced excessive oil burning, due to what appears to be a known Hyundai Engine failure which can cause the bearings to fail. My Hyundai Tucson appears to need new bearings which requires a full engine replacement based on how this car is made. This particular model does not have a recall on it however several other Hyundai models do for the very same known issue. There are no warning lights. My car stalls when I go to take off from a stop. It stalled on an interstate. It acts like there is no power if you put your foot on the gas all the way down It will take off eventually or if you put it in park turn it off and back on it will go without histation.
