Power steering (electrical system for this car) does not work on startup. Takes about 5 seconds to activate. Havenot experienced this on the road (yet). Check of outstanding recall repairs when entering VIN # in your webpage, shows no outstanding repairs. Howevver, I bought this vehicle with 0 miles and havenot had this repair done (I never got a recall notice). this malfunction has happened reeatedly in the last 3 weeks.
The steering suddenly became difficult to operate at 70 MPH. I stopped and turned the car off then turned it back on. Two warnings appeared on my dash, "Service Power Steering Now" & "Service AdvanceTrac." The turn signals also stopped working at this point. This vehicle is available for inspection. The component has not been inspected or taken to the local dealer. There were no symptoms prior to the failure

The power steering system in my 2013 Ford Taurus has failed. I took it to the shop and they informed me of multiple recalls on this make and model for the power steering, but it doesn't appear as though my personal VIN was recalled. Am I still eligible for a recall repair?

MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. IT SAID POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. AND I COULD NOT TURN MY WHEEL. FORTUNATELY I WAS PARKED. I JUST COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL TO MOVE. POWER STEERING WENT OUT COMPLETELY WITHOUT WARNING. VERY DANGEROUS OTHERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. IT SEEMS TO BE DUE TO HEAT CAUSING ELECTRIC ASSIST STEERING TO FAIL. FORD DESIGN THE ELECTRIC ASSIST MOTOR TO SIT DIRECTLY BEHIND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.

ENGINE STALLS WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR SLOWING DOWN.
EXPERIENCED LOSS OF STEERING/STEERING WHEEL FROZE UP AND COULD NOT BE TURNED; INITIALLY OCCURRED AT HOME IN DRIVEWAY WHEN STATIONARY OVERNIGHT BUT GETTING MORE FREQUENT AND PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL (15S18, SUPPLEMENTS #1, #2 AND #3) AND A FORD PROGRAM (15N01) IN PLACE REGARDING THIS ISSUE BUT MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED 11/2012 AND FORD SAYS IT IS NOT COVERED BY THIS RECALL ALTHOUGH THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME. I CALLED 2 DEALERS AND DID A CHAT WITH FORD BUT WAS STILL TOLD "NO". SO I NOW HAVE TO MAKE A HIGH DOLLAR REPAIR ON A COMPONENT THAT SHOULD BE COVERED. THE POWER STEERING HAS STOPPED WORKING MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THE STEERING WHEEL. THERE IS AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT DAY POWER ASSIST FAULT. THERE IS A RECALL ON 2013 MODEL FORD TAURUS OVER 300,000 FOR THIS REASON BUT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT LISTED.
THE STEERING HAS BEEN GETTING STIFFER AND STIFFER OVER THE LAST YEAR OR SO. I WENT TO GET MY TWO LOWER CONTROL ARMS TO BE REPLACED. AND MY MECHANIC SAID THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE ON MY RACK AND PINION. I'VE NEVER BEEN NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL FOR THE STEERING EPAS SYSTEM FAILING, BUT IT HAPPENED LAST WEEK. WITHOUT NOTICE OR WARNING, AS WE BACKED OUT OF THE GARAGE, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING CAPABILITY AND TURNING IT OFF AND RESTARTING DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT CAME ON I WAS FORTUNATE THAT IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS STATIONARY IN A DRIVEWAY AND NOT VERY FAR FROM HOME. STEERING IS LOCKED AND IT'S INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO TURN EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT. I CALLED FORDS RECALL # AND I WAS TOLD MY CAR DOEST FALL UNDER RECALL COVERAGE BECAUSE THE MONTH IT WAS ASSEMBLED WAS WHEN THEY SWAPPED TO USING ANOTHER STEERING RACK DESPITE MY VEHICLE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM SPECIFIED UNDER RECALL 15S18. I'M UNSURE WHY THEY WOULD SWAP STEERING RACKS MIDWAY THROUGH THE '13 MODEL YEAR UNLESS THEY KNEW THEY INSTALLED FAULTY EQUIPMENT.

I KNOW THAT FORD HAS RECALLS ON 2013-2015 VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME SYSTEM HOWEVER THEY EXCLUDED THE TAURUS AND MANY OTHER VEHICLES THAT ARE PRONE TO FAILURE.

I WAS 8 MILES FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP, I TOOK A BACK ROAD AND CREEP AT 10 MILES AN HOUR WITH NO STEERING. $139 FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND $2500 FOR REPAIR; I DECLINED THE REPAIR AS I HAVE BEEN IN CANCER TREATMENT FOR THE PAST YEAR AND NOW COVID19. POWER STEERING STOPPED WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HIS VEHICLE FROM A PARKING LOT ONTO A BUSY ROAD. THE BLINKERS ALSO DO NOT STAY ON AND HAVE TO BE HELD DOWN WHILE TRYING TO TURN A STEERING WHEEL WITH NO POWER. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY VERY DANGEROUS! THE ERROR CODES THAT CAME UP ARE U3000-49, U3000-96, U3000-72, U042081, U046B-86. THERE IS A RECALL ON 2013 FORD TAURUS BUT FOR SOME REASON OUR VIN IS NOT LISTED IN THE RECALLS, HOWEVER WE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS DISCRIBED IN THIS RECALL. FORD IS REFUSING TO HELP US GET THIS RESOLVED AND TELLING US THAT WE MUST PAY FOR THE COST OF SOMETHING THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN REPORTED ON 2013 VEHICLES. RECALL CODE 15S18. TOOK TO DEALER THAT WAS THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE THEY GOT BUT SAID MY VIN NOT COVERED. WANTS 2500 TO REPAIR. MY CAR HAS TWO PLAQUES THAT SAY MADE IN CHICAGO.ONE IN GLOVEBOX AND ONE IN DOOR FRAME. IN 2015 FORD RECALLED THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM FOR STEERING ON THE 2011-2013 FORD TAURUS. I CURRENTLY HAVE A 2013 TAURUS THAT IS NOT COMING UP WITH THE RECALL BUT IS HAVING THIS ISSUE. IT IS VERY UNSAFE AS THE STEERING WHEEL STICKS AND DOES NOT TURN PROPERLY.
