THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD BE CONTACTED TO SEE IF ANY ASSISTANCE WOULD BE PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
A SAFETY RECALL WORK ON THE POWER STEERING OCCURRED JUNE 2019. THE POWER STEERING FAILED AT 60MPH ON 12/29/2020. WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP, YOU NOW HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. I NEVER BELIEVED THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED BECAUSE THE SAME GROANING NOISE CONTINUED AFTERWARDS. FORD NEEDS TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT.
DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH AND THE "POWER STEERING FAILURE" LIGHT APPEARED AND THE STEERING FELT HEAVIER. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF THE CAR FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED BACK ON THE MESSAGE DID NOT REAPPEAR. VEHICLE MILEAGE IS ABOUT 140K.
MY POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT CAME ON MY CAR. I TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON AND IT WENT OFF AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. THIS MORNING I GET IN MY CAR TO COME WORK AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON, THIS TIME IT DID NOT GO OFF AND THE POWER STEERING WAS NO DRIVEABLE AT ALL. I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT WASN'T DRIVEABLE AND THEN WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD NO VEHICLES TO LOAN TO US TO DRIVE. UNACCEPTABLE IN OUR BOOK!

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE CONTACT WAS DIRECTED TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. POWER STERRING STOPPED WORKING, WHILE IN A TURN AND NEARLY CRASHED. I PULLED OVER, AND TURNED OFF THE CAR AND THEN RESTARTED, AND THE POWER STERRING STARTED WORKING AGAIN.

THIS IS A RECALL ON THE NON 3.5L ALREADY BUT MINE IS THE 3.5L. SOMETIMES WHEN I WOULD TURN THE CAR ON THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" ALERT WOULD COME ON ON THE DASH CONTROL PANEL. I WOULD NOT HAVE POWER STEERING. I COULD TURN MY CAR OFF THEN BACK ON AND IT WOULD BE GONE AND I WOULD HAVE POWER STEERING AGAIN. WELL THIS PAST TIME I TRIED TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND THE ALERT DID NOT GO AWAY THIS TIME. I HAVE NO POWER STEERING.

THE POWER STEERING IN THE VEHICLE HAS FAILED TWO TIMES OVER THE PAST WEEK. DASHBOARD LIGHT SAYS "POWER STEERING FAULT." THE PROBLEM HAPPENED ONCE WHILE STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT AND ANOTHER TIME WHILE BACKING THE VEHICLE UP. TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND OFF TEMPORARILY FIXES THE PROBLEM.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT ERROR. NOW THE STEERING DOES NOT WORK SO THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN. ERROR APPEARED WHEN STARTING THE CAR
MY SON WAS DRIVING HOME IN HIS 2011 FORD FUSION WHEN HE GOT A POWER STEERING ALERT AND THE WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN. LUCKILY HE HAD A STRAIGHT STRETCH ON THE HIGHWAY AND MADE IT HOME SAFELY. WHEN TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AND AFTER SEEING A FIELD SAFETY ALERT FOR THIS ISSUE. FORD REFUSED TO HONOR THE FIELD SAFETY ALERT DUE TO MILEAGE AND WE PAID ALMOST $2000 FOR REPAIRS.
STEERING LOCKED AND CAUSED THE CAR TO SWERVE SERVERLY, THIS CAN BE VERY FATAL LUCKILY NO ONE WAS ON THE ROAD WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
MY CAR HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY FINE FOR THE MOST PART UNTIL ABOUT 4 WEEKS AGO , WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON, SO I WENT AND AIRED UP THE TIRES, THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WENT OFF BUT THEN THE SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHT AND ADVANCE TIRE TRACTION APPEARED AT THIS TIME IM PULLING BACK INTO MY DRIVE WAY, THEN I CAME OUT MY HOUSE A FEW HOURS TO LEAVE AND THE STIRRING WHEEL WAS LOCKED I TRIED TO DRIVE IT AND NOW THE STRRING WHEELS GOES TO THE RIGHT I NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE BEFORE LET ALONE ANY WARNING SIGNS .. I LOOKED INTO RECALLS WITH FORD AND IT SHOWED MY 2011 FORD FUSION HAD RECALLS FOR WHATS GOING ON, SO I CALLED A LINCOLN FORD DEALERSHIP THAT SAID BRING IT IN THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR A WEEK AND WHEN I PICKED IT...
RECENTLY THE VEHICLE LOSE POWER AND THE MESSAGE WOULD INDICATE "POWER ASSIST FAULT' AND THE FEW TIMES IT HAPPENNED I WOULD SHUT OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTART THE VEHICLE AND THE PROBLEM WOULD RESOLVE ITSELF. HOWEVER AS OF 10/25/2020 THE PROBLEM REMAINS. AFTER RESEARCH I LEARNED MY VEHICLE WAS BUILT 8/5/2011 ONE MONTH PRIOR TO THE RECALLED FUSIONS HOW IS THIS NOT INCLUDED? WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS FROM THIS VEHICLE REGARDING THIS MATTER. THIS LAST OCCURRENCE HAPPENED AFTER RETURNING AN ERRAND CAR WAS PARKED IN PARKING LOT AND I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE CAR UNTIL THE VEHICLE NEXT TO ME MOVED THEIR VEHICLE DUE TO INABILITY TO TURN THE WHEEL.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT OIL HAD LEAKED FROM THE ENGINE. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS NOT ABLE TO BE OPENED FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WERE NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
THE POWER STEERING IS NOT WORKING AT ALL AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT IS ON.. IN THE PAST,, THETRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM WOULD GO OUT ON OCCASION AND THR TCS WARNING LIGHT WOULD APPEAR, BUT THE TCS WOULD START TO WORK AFTER A FEW MINUTES. THIS TIME, THE POWER STEERING IS COMPLETELY SHOT AND THE REPAIR SHOP IS STATING THE POWER STEERING SENSOR AND STEERING COLUMN WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS OCCURRED WHILE MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALER SALINAS VALLEY FORD LINCOLN LOCATED AT 1100 AUTO CENTER CIR, SALINAS, CA 93907, (831) 444-4444, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE RACK AND PINION TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
DESPITE A RECALL (RECALL 15S18), POWER STEERING FAULT ALERT SHOWS UP UNEXPECTEDLY, AS WELL AS SERVICE ADVANCETRAC (TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM). IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING (IN MOTION) ON A HIGHWAY GETTING OFF TO A CITY STREET, I GET THE ALERT INDICATING SERVICE POWER STEERING. WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, I ATTEMPT TO TURN OFF AND TURN ON MY VEHICLE TO GET RID OF THE ALERT, BUT DOESN'T GO AWAY. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE MY RESIDENCE, I UNEXPECTEDLY RECEIVED A 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' MESSAGE, RESULTING IN MY STEERING WHEEL BECOMING INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO TURN, RENDERING MY VEHICLE INOPERABLE. THIS IS UNSAFE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ACCORDINGLY.
I LOST THE CONTROL OF POWER STEERING AND ERROR MESSAGE APPEAR ON THE DISPLAY WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD GOING ABOUT 30 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER RETRIEVING HER VEHICLE FROM VIC BAILEY FORD (501 E DANIEL MORGAN AVE, SPARTANBURG, SC 29302) AFTER HAVING HER VEHICLE SERVICED FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V001000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER-IN-LAW DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 183,919.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
ON AUG 1ST MY WIFE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE WHILE STATIONARY. THE DASH INDICATED A SERVICE REQUIRED TO THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE HAD PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED IDENTICAL SYMPTOMS BACK IN AUGUST OF 2018. FOLLOWING THAT FIRST INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED & REPAIRED AT QUIRK FORD OF AUGUSTA MAINE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE 15S18 RECALL. THE POWER STEERING RACK WAS DETERMINED TO BE FAULTY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER STEERING RACK AND REPROGRAMMED THE PSCM.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR I FOUND THERE WAS NO LONGER POWER STEERING. THE LIGHT FOR THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT CAME ON
I PURCHASED 2011 FUSION 8 MOS AGO. CURRENTLY HAS 56K MILES. STEERING HAS BECOME AN ISSUE WHILE DRIVING, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE TURNS WITHOUT WARNING. WHILE THE 2011 FUSION DOES HAVE A RECALL, MY VIN IS EXCLUDED. I CONTACTED FORD WHO ESSENTIALLY INDICATED THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLE. DEALER COST TO REPAIR: $2800.
THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHEN I WAS DRIVING. THIS MAKES THE CAR VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER AND MAKES TIGHT TURNS IMPOSSIBLE. I FEAR THAT THIS WILL CAUSE GREAT DIFFICULTY FOR DRIVERS, ESPECIALLY THOSE WITH UPPER BODY STRENGTH ISSUES, AS THEY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE OR MAKE TURNS. I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AT THE TIME, BUT IF THIS HAPPENED SUDDENLY AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, IT MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
WHEN PULLING INTO WORK I GOT A WARNING ON MY CAR SAYING 'SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW'. I WENT TO LEAVE FROM WORK THE NEXT MORNING AND I WASN'T ABLE TO STEER. A FRIEND OF MINE TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP THAT HIS FRIEND OWNS AND HE PLUGGED IT INTO THE COMPUTER. A PART ON MY RACK AND PINION NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED. I HAD NOTICED THAT THERE HAD BEEN PREVIOUS RECALLS FOR THE POWER STEERING AND I HAVE ONLY HAD MY CAR SINCE 2/28/2020.
ON 7/23/20 I STARTED MY CAR AND THE MESSAGE APPEARED "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WHEN I STARTED IT AGAIN THE MESSAGE DIDN'T COME UP AGAIN & THE STEERING WORKED. I SAW THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS BACK IN 2015 BUT I NEVER GOT A RECALL NOTICE. WITHOUT A RECALL THIS REPAIR IS $1800.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST. VEHICLE SEEMS TO BE ON MANUAL STEERING, LOSS OF STEERING AFTER CAR START, DIFFIFULTY SOMETIMES TURNING AND IT MAKES NOISES. VEHICLE STEERING WILL FREEZE OFTEN AND WILL GET POWER STEERING FAILURE MESSAGE WHEN IDLING. IT IS DIFFICULT TO STEER AT REGULAR CITY SPEEDS AND I DARE NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY FOR FEAR I WILL LOSE CONTROL. THIS IS A PRIMARY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION FOR ME TO WORK AND SCHOOL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING FUNCTIONALITY WITH THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. JC LEWIS FORD LOCATED AT 9505 ABERCORN ST, SAVANNAH, GA 31406, (912) 210-5676, WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 165,000.
THE CAR IS VERY UNSAFE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER MOTHER WAS DRIVING, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER COASTED INTO A REST AREA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE THE REST AREA, THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING. THE DRIVER CONTINUED DRIVING TO THE RESIDENCE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO WHITE FORD, LLC LOCATED AT 175 OLD FARM RD, ROANOKE RAPIDS, NC 2787, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE STEERING GEAR OVERHEATED DUE TO THE CLOSENESS OF THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO THE RACK AND PINION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILLAGE WAS 137,863.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THOROUGHBRED FORD LOCATED AT 8501 N BOARDWALK AVE, KANSAS CITY, MO 64154, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING GEAR AND PINION WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 184,000.
I WAS ON A HIGHWAY INTERCHANGE GOING AROUND A LOOP APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN MY POWER STEERING ASSIST CUTOUT. THE POWER ASSIST FAULT AND THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAC WARNINGS SHOWED ON THE DASH. AS I CAME TO THE END OF THE TURN I NEARLY OVERSTEERED DUE TO THE POWER STEERING CUT OUT. I CONTACTED FORD ABOUT IT SINCE IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED ON MANY OF THE 2011-2013 FUSIONS. NO RECALL WAS EVER ISSUED TO MY CAR, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE.
THE CAR GAVE A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT INDICATION. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED A BAD STEERING GEAR. THE STEERING GEAR HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN FOUND ON OTHER FORDS WITH THIS ELECTRONIC/ELECTRICAL STEERING. A FUSION MODEL WAS SUBJECT TO A SAFETY RECALL. THIS ISSUE IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE GENERAL RECALL FOR ALL FUSIONS AND FORDS WITH THIS TYPE STEERING.
I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND RECEIVED MESSAGE THE POWER STEERING IS DISABLED. CONTACTED FORD AND THEY VOLUNTARILY REPLACED MODULE IN 2015. WILL NOT REPAIR NOW .
LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHEN IN MOTION. SERVICE POWER STEERING SYSTEM NOW SERVICE ADVANTRAC SYSTEM LIGHTS COME ON
2011 FORD FUSIONS WERE RECALLED IN 2015 FOR SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING. MY 2011 FORD FUSION WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT SHOULD HAVE BEEN BECAUSE LAST WINTER I SUDDENLY LOST POWER STEERING WHILE IN MOTION, TURNING IN A PARKING LOT. FORTUNATELY I WASN'T GOING FAST AT THE TIME, AND I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP. THE AUTO SHOP USED "TSB 11-11-03" THAT WAS PUBLISHED ON NOV 3, 2011, WHICH INDICATES THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY KNEW ABOUT HIGH FRICTION ISSUES IN SOME CONTROL ARMS THAT CAN CAUSE THE POWER STEERING TO FAIL. THE AUTO SHOP FOLLOWED THE SERVICE PROCEDURE SPECIFIED IN TSB 11-11-03 AND REPLACED BOTH CONTROL ARMS, WHICH FIXED THE PROBLEM. SINCE THE KNOWN SERVICE PROCEDURE FIXED THE KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING, I PRESUME MY 2011 FORD FUSION SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FROM 2015, AND PERHAPS OTHER EXCLUDED 2011 FORD FUSIONS COULD...
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. MY POWER STEERING HAS FAILED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS BEFORE THE NOTED DATE OF THIS COMPLAINT (06/21/2020). THE REMEDY ALWAYS WAS THE SAME, TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT. THIS TIME IT HAS FAILED FOR GOOD. SINCE FORD DOES NOT HAVE AN ACTIVE RECALL FOR MY VIN NUMBER I AM FORCED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO REPLACE A FAULTY PART. I HAVE SCOURED THE WEB AND SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS BY OTHERS FORD OWNERS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. THEY MORE OR LESS SAY THE SAME THING "NOBODY CAN HELP US". WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND SAID POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. ALSO THE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM IS SHOWING. I KNOW THERE WERE RECALLS ON THE 2012 FORD FUSION IN 2015. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES TO ME AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. 3 TIMES IT FAILED THEN CAME BACK WORKING BUT NOW DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RAZZAIR FORD LOCATED AT 1300 AUTO CENTER DR, MERCED, CA 95340 TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
