This is the second time my 2013 Ford Focus EV has just shut down while traveling. This time in the middle of an intersection. A Stop Safely Now warning came on first and then, in the middle of a stop sign, after getting off a late afternoon busy highway, the car shut down and refused to move. I turned on my emergency flashers to keep people moving around my car.

I drove this car for intervals and then purchased it on 6/05/23 from a used car lot. It had no problems and ran very well. About a month or two later the transmission started to slip so I contacted the Goodyear shop we take our cars to. They told me that Ford had a recall on a transmission problem so I called the Ford dealer and made an appointment to bring it in for a computer recall on the trans. I am 84 yrs. old and was driving to the gas station for gas and the car stopped and inched into the station. I had it towed to Ford and it sat there until my appt. day and was told the computer on the outside of the trans was under warrenty not the trans and it would cost $9000. for a trans. No other trans shop would repair because all...

Transmission shuddered on takeoff every time. It made it difficult on takeoff. It quit on a single lane road. It was at the dealership on 8-18-23. It was driven 356 miles. No fault lights ever come on until the transmission quit pulling. The lady at the dealership told me it might be the clutch and they could inspect it and replace the clutch for 3,100.00. I told her no on I think it’s bad.

My car will intermittently lose power, such as in the middle of an intersection, or turning in front of another vehicle, which puts me and my children at risk. The transmission is throwing a code for overheating and malfunctioning, and there is an open customer satisfaction bulletin for the transmission control module, but Ford refuses to replace it because it’s not throwing “the correct code “ I have had the clutch replaced three times if not four in the time that I’ve had the vehicle and it’s more than frustrating. It’s dangerous along with losing power. It will intermittently catch the gear that is trying to shift into and cause the car to accelerate rapidly, the transmission, shutter control module and clutch have been an issue in this car, along with a class action lawsuit, and now Ford has had my vehicle for three weeks, and refuses to do the...

I'm not repeating everything for your website to erase it again. Duel clutch replacement every 20k miles and unsafe bad TCM behavior.

As I was driving down the highway, my car stopped accelerating. I was able to pull over on the side of the road and waited about 5 minutes before cranking the car again. After I started back driving, the car started to jerk every time it shifted. I took it to the mechanic and was informed that is was my clutch. They tried to fix it but the clutch was broken and I needed my entire transmission replaced. I paid $4000 to get it replaced, only for the same thing to happen 4 months later. I have not replaced it the second time.

In Jan/Feb 2023, my 16 year old was driving her 2013 ford focus which we have had problems after problems… this particular time she was at a red light and it would not go! She quickly put in park and switched back to drive and it went… a day or 2 passed and it did it again and started shifting gears weird and jerking at certain speeds! Took it to the mechanic he basically said he wouldn’t touch it because of how crappy and complicated these transmissions are… but he did run codes and to a transmission flush! That didn’t do any good… I started researching and low and be ahold find out that this is a know issue with these cars! And guess what my “extended warranty” expired less than 2 months prior to this! Ford would not help me what do ever! I contacted the manufacturer and the...

We bought a used car,as is, and had no problem. Approx 6 wks later it had trouble going into park and were told (by our technician) there was a recall on a computer. Made an appt. with the dealer and on the day it was to go in husband went to get gas the transmission failed so we had AAA tow it to them. They then told us the entire transmission failed and there was no warranty. We learned there was a nationwide problem with the computers. We never, nor did the dealer we purchased it from ever receive a notice from Ford that there was a recall on the outer computer. If they had done that the transmission could have been saved. I contacted Ford and was told to go back to the dealer they were doing nothing, The car sits in our driveway. This is not the only...

The transmission and the clutch are faulty from when they were originally made. I had it diagnosed at a ford dealership. I have taken it into the shop 3+ times and have spent thousand to fix it. My car is an automatic, but it shifts gears like it’s a manual. The “faulty transmission” alert will show up without warning and my car won’t start leaving me stranded. I’ve had to tow it twice. The car is unreliable and unsafe. It begins to shift even worse right before the “faulty transmission” alert then it won’t start. It’s acting up right now and I’m afraid.

On 5/25/23, I came out of my work’s office building on my lunch break. My car seemed to not accelerate, however I was able to pull out and proceed on to the roadway. Unbeknownst, my car would not accelerate past 5 MPH. I tried to turn around as I was entering a busy highway, and I was unable to reverse, leaving my car stuck as I hit a curb, as cars whizzed by me. I kept restarting my car and eventually I was able to push my car over to curb, and proceed at 5 MPH (the most my car would go), back to my office parking lot. I have a small child and almost caused a 4-car accident due to Ford’s faulty transmission manufacturing which was confirmed by a mechanic that I had the car towed to. I was informed there is a buy-back and recall for the TCM...

My daughter-in-law's 2013 Ford Focus SE started experiencing hesitations and slow/no acceleration. As she was driving, the car suddenly would not go above 30mph and the "check engine" light illuminated. OBD codes P2831, P2832, and P287b are present. She is the 2nd owner and the car only has 56,000 miles. The Transmission Control Module (TCM) appears to be the issue and the replacement should be free under Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 14M02 (10yrs/150,000miles). Ford issued a "Manufacture Communication" about this very serious safety problem instead of a Recall, which is why she was not notified of this dangerous problem. The "warranty in service date" on this car is March 2013 which means the car is less than 2 months over the 10 year limit, but is 99,000 miles under the mileage cap. I talked to Ford customer care this morning and they told me that Ford would not cover this...

The manufacturer was also notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under recall or warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

While driving at approximately 60 mph on a highway in the passing lane, the engine shut off without warning, and the following lights appeared on the dash: check engine, ABS, and traction control. The speedometer needle also went down to zero. I was in the process of passing a tractor trailer, and another tractor trailer was right behind me. I was barely able to maneuver off the highway onto the left shoulder and was almost rear-ended by the tractor trailer. The lack of power steering made it extremely difficult. This is a major safety issue. My family was in the car with me. After sitting on the side of the highway, I was able to start the engine and drive home. I arrived home and tried to back into my driveway, but it would not go into reverse. I took the car to the local Ford dealer and I was...

I just found out that the control module was recalled last November but I was never contacted.

Reoccurring shuttering and vibration from the automatic transmission when driving car. Specifically the issues occurs after transmission warms up. Most notable when shifting from 1-2 gear. Occasionally happens at higher speeds too.

I had my engine on in park and it stalled left me stranded and dashboard said engine fault service now when I tried starting the car it would turn over and I heard a bunch of clicking and the lights were flickering the dash and radio had no power and my wipers wouldn’t go off. I had to abandon my car on someone’s private property until I could get it towed they ended up calling the cops and gave me 48 hours to remove my car off there property. In my 2013 Ford Focus se I have experienced reduced engine power, hesitation, ENGINE STALLS while driving with NO WARNING Front and rear lights flicker and dim random spikes in voltage and inconsistent start-up issues like sometimes the vehicle does not start when turning the ignition on and car suddenly starts or idles down unexpectedly and stutters/lurches when driving. Also sometimes...

I've had several recalls due to the transmission/clutch issues. MY clutch has gone out AGAIN and as I merged onto the freeway last Nov I was almost wiped out by a semi as my car didn't speed ahead but shuddered and juddered before it finally decided to speed up. It's at the shop AGAIN to replace the clutch, for $2900! I make less than 50k a year and this is a steep price for a lemon of a car that Ford KNEW was having issues. What to they make these clutches out of? Paper mache? This is the 3rd!!! one.

In 2017 a Ford mechanic shop accepted my 2013 automatic transmission Ford Focus Titanium due to a factory transmission recall. They paid to have the entire transmission replaced (supposedly), which at that time it was at about 70-78k miles. I haven’t driven it over 59k miles at most since then. That’s no less than 19k miles under from the time before. A local Ford dealer (Sam Galloway Ford in Fort Myers, Florida) informed me the issues are a bearing, the clutch and clutch actuator that need to be replaced, which costs about $3.7k with the diagnostic fee, which I shouldn’t have to pay for due to the issues resulting from what Ford knew of years ago & the fact the “fix” was like that off using a dirty band-aid that failed to provide conscious moral safety for me the owner/traveler via using it. Furthermore, the issues with it pose a...

I've had issues with this vehicle for years. It hesitates when accelerating and occasionally stalls. The problem advanced to where it would no longer shift into drive. Took in for repairs as it is no longer drivable. It was difficult to find a place to evenwork on it. Finally found a place, $3200 later it's repaired with a new TCM. This is a known problem to ford. I'm a senior on a very limited fixed income, this was very difficult to pay for. The car only has 55,000 miles.

Transmission Control Module (TCM) The transmission Is a known problem to Ford. Auto shops won’t even look at the vehicle because it’s an unfixable problem. Ford dealers have no answer other then replace TCM and maybe you’ll get some more miles out of the car, but of course the part is backordered, over 77,000 cars waiting, and no idea when part will be available. Car is totally unreliable. Shifts gears inconsistently, at times won’t go into Drive, often times vehicle won’t even start. All I can do with it now is to leave it sit parked and not use it. Extremely disappointing that Ford has known of this issue for years and not fixed it or put a buyback into place.

Transmission, there is a recall on the computer mounted outside the trans, we were never told there was a recall on it. Started making a loud noise and had trouble going onto reverse. Made appt. to take to dealer and day before went to fuel up and trans. went. AA A towed it to dealer and were told clutches in trans were computer controlled and were bad. Given estimate of $8000. to replace. Check complaints on this model and from 2011 and on there is a major transmission problem It should have a recall on the entire trans. My husband is 83 and fortunately he was stopped when this happened. Had he been driving it would have been bad.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving 50-55 MPH, the vehicle began to jerk. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact then refilled the fuel tank, however, he noticed that there was a significant amount of pressure coming out of the fuel tank. The contact was able to continue driving. Additionally, the contact stated that the fuel gauge frequently provided inaccurate reading and would indicate that there was approximately 100 miles left of fuel while the fuel tank was empty. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank had expanded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer who provided the same diagnostic information. The contact stated that the vehicle was...

At approx 01-05-2023 while driving at a speed of 30 to 35 mph Transmission quit with no notice. Dealer says it needs a total rebuild with a cost of approx $3500.00 to $3900.00 The dealer or Ford refuses to make things right with me. Ford told me to make payment arrangements with the dealer and suck it up. I still have a loan on car for approx $7100.00 . Car is currently disabled and is parked for good.

Loss of power when engaged, transmission slips to lower gear causing u to slow down and will not engage back in to drive then jerks when gas is applied. I have eluded several accidents and cause others to swerve to miss me. Check engine light is on. When taken in to dealer they have changed the TCM 3 or 4 times but is still doing the same thing.

Car Mileage is 67K. Noticed the car is shuddering and little jerk upon moving the car, upon calling the ford customer service, was being told there is a recall for transmission control module, went to a service center and was been told it needs a full transmission replacement and there was no control module affected. I have noticed in the forums that it is common problem across all Ford Focus and causes shuddering. This has caused me a concern given the mileage is less than 68K and the transmission has gone bad incurring huge budget for repairs. There are no warning lamps or any other symptoms.

While accelerating from a stop or low speed the engine revs and does not shift gears. Impossible to increase speed above about 30 mph. After taking my foot off the gas pedal and trying, again it sometimes works fine for awhile. Intermittent, but dangerous, since I never know when pressing the gas pedal will make the car move forward or just rev the engine with no effect.
