The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled without warning. The contact stated that the fuel gauge was incorrectly showing that there was a specific amount of fuel to empty ratio on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V735000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V515000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) IN NOVEMBER 2020 AT TUTTLE-CLICK'S CAPISTRANO FORD (33301 CAMINO CAPISTRANO, SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA 92675) HOWEVER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE CLUTCH AND THE SHIFTING UNIT NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 134,000.
