THE DPS6 POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION USED IN THE 2013 FORD FOCUS HAS WELL KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH SHUDDERING AND JERKING WHILE ACCELERATING IN LOW GEARS. DURING RAIN WHEN THE STREETS ARE WET IT JERKS ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE CAR TO LOSE TRACTION MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SAFELY ACCELERATE THROUGH AN INTERSECTION.
WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE ENGINE REVELS AND TRANSMISSION HAS NO POWER. IT IS UNSAFE BECAUSE IT HAPPENS WHILE IN TRAFFIC. VECHICKEBWAS TAKEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT FIND ISSUE BECAUSE THE LIGHT WAS NOT ON AT THE TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN.
DOESN'T ACCELERATE HALF THE TIME WHEN I HIT GAS. DOESN'T GO REVERSE HALF THE TIME I PUT IT IN REVERSE. SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY. SHAKES , SHUTTERS. HAD CODES P07A3 AND P2872 SHOW UP AND FORD SAID THEY AREN'T TRANSMISSION RELATED EVEN THO BOTH CODES HAVE THE WORD " TRANSMISSION IN THE CODE SUMMARY. COULDN'T GET INVOLVED IN 55MILL LAWSUIT BECAUSE I HAVEN'T HAD 2 REPAIRS ON IT. BEEN IN SHOP SINCE 50K MILES GETTING SENIORS AND STUFF REPLACED. CAR HAS NEVER IMPROVED EVEN THO I KEEP SPENDING MONEY. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT THE POSTED SPEED OF 65 MPH WHEN THE CAR ENGINE RPM DROPPED TO 2000 AND THEN BACK UP TO 4000 THE CAR IMMEDIATELY SLOWED TO 50 MPH CAUSING TRAFFIC BEHIND ME TO SLAM IN THEIR BRAKES. THE CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT TO SPEED UP CAUSING ME TO PULL OVER AND CREEP TO A GAS STATION.
MY 2013 FORD FOCUS WOULD NOT RANDOMLY START THE OTHER EVENING, AFTER A COUPLE TRIES IT STARTED. ON THE WAY HOME IT WOULD NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AND ACTING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL. SO THE NEXT MORNING I WENT TO GO TAKE IT TO AUTO ZONE TO HAVE THEM DO A DIAGNOSTIC AND MY VEHICLE STARTED RIGHT UP, HOWEVER IT WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. I HAVE READ THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE FOCUS' TRANSMISSION.

I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH THIS CAR SINCE I GOT IT 5 YEARS AGO. I WAS LEAVING TO TAKE MY SON TO A DR APPOINTMENT. I GOT ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD AND THE SERVICE ENGINE NOW POPS UP. A LOUD POP SOUND CAME THRU MY SPEAKERS AND THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING. THEN I STARTED LOSING RPMS AND POWER TO MY CAR IT WOULDN'T GO OVER 10MPH. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP IT BACK HOME VERY SLOWLY. FORD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WONT GO AWAY!! TRANSMISSION SHUTTER AND POOR INITIAL ACCELERATION. THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND TCM TWICE BY FORD DEALER. AFTER THE LAST TCM REPLACEMENT IN 2016 PROBLEMS CONTINUED AND I WAS TURNED AWAY BY FORD DEALERSHIPS BECAUSE NO ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. NOW THAT FINALLY A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON U0101, P07A3, I AM NOW OVER 100, 000 MILES THE CLUTCH IS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE TCM IS. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS WHERE THE CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION ABILITIES WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY OR SIMPLY FAIL TO ACCELERATE AND A TRAFFIC LIGHT CAUSING MAJOR DELAYS FOR ANYONE AROUND ME. IT HAS BEEN A SAFTEY CONCERN FOR YEARS DUE TO THE UNPREDICTABILITY OF THE TRANSMISSION INTERMITTENTLY NOT ALLOWING ACCELERATION.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED AFTER 76,000 MILES. TRANSMISSION WOULD OCCASIONALLY SLIP EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS SINCE INITIAL PURCHASE. A FEW DAYS BEFORE TRANSMISSION FAILURE THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK AND WOULD HAVE INTERMITTENT TRANSMISSION ISSUES. ULTIMATELY THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE DRIVING AND ONCE PARKED, THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY START IN NEUTRAL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT TO REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR AROUND 1-2 YEARS AND THEN WAS MAINTAINED IN A STORAGE STATE FOR 4 YEARS AND THEN WAS DRIVEN FOR ANOTHER 1-2 YEARS BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 76,000 MILES. THESE TRANSMISSIONS FAILING IS AND REPORTS SAY THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE FROM THE START. TRANSMISSION ISSUES WHILE DRIVING POSE A MODERATE SAFETY CONCERN AND COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT ON THE ROAD IN A TRAFFIC CONDITION. THE CAR ISN'T DRIVABLE. WHEN I START IT IT MAKES CLICKING NOISE AND HARD TO START. IF DRIVING IT, IT DOESN'T GIVE ANY GAS OR GO OVER 20 MILES. GOT IN MY CAR TO GO WORK STARTED DOWN ROAD AND THE ADA'S IT SHOWED UP ON MY DASH THAT IT WAS THE TRANS FAULT SERVICE NOW I TURNED AROUND AND COME HOME. I CALLED THE SERVICE MAN AT FORD PLACE WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR. BEFORE THIS HAPPENED THE CAR WAS TAKING TO THEM BECAUSE THE CAR WAS NOT PULLING RIGHT THEY LOOKED AT IT AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG AND I CALLED THEM AND NOTHING WAS DONE IN JUNE 2019 AND NOW MY CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE NOW IT'S BEEN DOWN SINCE 12/24/2020 I CALLED THE FORD PLACE AND THEY CAN'T GET IT IN TILL 01/04/2021. THE CODE WAS FOR TCM. CAPITAL FORD AT CHARLOTTE CALLED ME AND TOLD ME IT WAS THE "SHIFT ACTUATOR", (A $60 PART), NOT THE TCM, AND IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY USING MY CRUISE CONTROL AND THE MOTOR REVVED UP REALLY HIGH AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. I TOOK IT OFF CRUISE CONTROL AND THE TRANSMISSION WASN'T GOING INTO TO ANY GEAR. I REPORTED IN 2019 POWER STEERING PROBLEM THEY DIDN'T FIX IT. I FIXED IT. NOW I CAN NOT DRIVE MY 2013 FOCUS FOR SAFETY PRECAUTIONS DUE TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEM SINCE 3 MONTHS. THEY REFUSE TO ADMIT RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM PAYING A LEASE FOR NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR.

SINCE HAVING THE CAR, I'VE CONSTANTLY EXPERIENCED JERKING WHILE ACCELERATING, LACK OF ACCELERATION, WHICH WAS DANGEROUS, WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC, OR ON THE HIGHWAY WITH TRUCKS SPEEDING BY YOU BECAUSE MY CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE QUICK ENOUGH. I CONSTANTLY COMPLAINED TO FORD DEALER ABOUT THESE ISSUES AND THE KEPT REPAIRING IT UNDER THE GUISE THAT 'OH YOUR TCM(TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) BEDS REPROGRAMMING' OR IT WAS 'YOUR CAR WAS ORIGINALLY A STICK SHIFT THAT THEY TURNED AUTOMATIC, AND WHAT YOU FEEL, IS YOUR CAR SHIFTING GEARS'. THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY ASSURED ME I DIDN'T HAVE TRANSMISSION ISSUES, SO I LET THEM FIX THIS SAME ISSUE MORE THAN 5 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF WARRANTY. THERE WAS A PREVIOUS RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDER ISSUE. THIS ISSUE WAS RESOLVED THROUGH A COMPLETE REBUILD OF MY TRANSMISSION, BUT THIS ISSUE THAT SHOULD NO LONGER EVEN EXIST, DUE TO NEW PARTS IS STILL THERE. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE HAPPENING. I THINK THAT MY CAR SHOULD BE REPLACED DUE TO FORD'S ONGOING ISSUE. I THINK THEY ARE USING EITHER USED PARTS, OR THEY KNOW THE PARTS NEEDED TO FIX THIS ISSUES ARE FAULTY AS WELL AND CONTINUE TO DO THIS TO CUSTOMERS.

AFTER THE TCM ADAPTIVE LEARNING IT SHIFTS FINE BUT THE DTC'S WILL COME BACK ON IN A FEW DAYS. THE DTC'S ARE P2831, P2833, AND P287B. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO? THE BATTERY AND BATTERY CABLES ARE FINE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.

WHILE DRIVING ONLY 20 MINUTES ON HIGHWAY THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST SHOP. THEY SAID THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE FAILED WATER PUMP AND THERMOSTAT. THE NEXT DAY THEY SAID THAT DIDNT FIX THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT NEEDED A HEAD GASKET REPLACED. AFTER OPENING THE ENGINE THEY SAID THAT ITS WARPED. THE CAR (SE MODEL) HAS ONLY 84000 MILES AND WAS A CERTIFIED PREOWNED CAR WE BOUGHT FEB 2016. I WILL BE CONTACTING FORD MANUFACTURER ON A POSSIBLE RECALL #19522 AS WELL AS THE DEALERSHIP AS THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE 7 YEAR 100000 WARRANTY.
THERE IS A SHUDDER ON TAKE OFF AND VIBRATION WHILE ACCELERATING - 2013 FORD FOCUS. 2013 FORD FOCUS TO VIBRATE UPON ACCELERATION. FROM YOUR DESCRIPTION, IT DESCRIBING AN ENGINE MISFIRE. MISFIRES CAN BE CAUSED BY MANY ISSUES, BUT THE MOST COMMON ARE SPARK PLUGS, COIL, FUEL PUMP, FUEL INJECTORS, MAF SENSOR, VACUUM LEAKS, OR A WIRING HARNESS FAULT.
CAR WAS TRAVELING ON PUBLIC ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 50MPH WHEN TRANSMISSION SHIFTED TO NUETRAL AND ENGINE SHUT OFF CAUSING LOOSE OF CONTROL AND CAR LEFT ROADWAY ONTO GRASS SHOULDER AND INTO DITCH. NO STEERING AND NO BRAKES. NO INJURIES OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. CAR HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP 5 OR 6 TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION REPAIRS SINCE PURCHASE. CURRENTLY CAR WILL NOT START OR RUN DUE TO WARNING ON SCREEN SAYING "PARKING AID MALFUNCTION SERVICE REQUIRED". HAVE CONTACTED DEALERSHIP AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE CAR VIBRATES WHEN YOU ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. AND IT ONLY HAPPENS FROM A STOP AND NOW WHILE DRIVING . SEVERAL FORUMS SHOW THAT THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THINKING IT'S THE TRANSMISSION BUT THEY STATE IT'S FINE.

THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS IN FIRST GEAR AND CHANGES HARD TO SECOND GEAR. THE VEHLCLE WAS CHECKED AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CLUTCH PROBLEMS, IN WHICH THE COMPANY WHICH HAD THE CAR KNEW ABOUT. IT IS NOT CLEAR IF THE COMPANY HAD THE CAR WHEN THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THAT PARTICULAR PART 2 YEARS AGO. THE FORD COMPANY KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM ALL THE TIME, AND ISSUED A WARRANTY WHICH HAS EXPIRED. IF THE CAR WAS WORKED ON UNDER THE FIRST RECALL, THE WARRANTY SHOULD BE VALID BECAUSE IT WASNT FIXED.
WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN HARD SHIFTING AND JERKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BAD TCM AND TWO BAD CLUTCHES. THE BAD TCM WAS COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BY FORD UNDER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 14M02 (10 YR/150K MILE WARRANTY), BUT THE CLUTCHES WERE NOT ELIGIBLE UNDER PROGRAM 14M01 (7 YR/100K MILE WARRANTY) BECAUSE THE CAR WAS 7 YR 5 MO OLD. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE TO HAVE FAILED SHIFTING WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS TRANSMISSION AND THESE CLUTCHES NEED TO BE RECALLED AND PROMPTLY REPAIRED IN ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES.

I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE LATE JANUARY OF 2020, I WAS AWARE OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL BUT WAS ASSURED THAT THOSE PROBLEMS WERE TAKEN CARE OF. BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AND AFTER MY FIRST TRIP LONGER THAN 1 HOUR I GOT AN ENGINE LIGHT AND LATER A TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING LIGHT. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR AT 55 MILES PER HOUR THE CAR WILL ACT LIKE I WAS FLOORING THE GAS PEDAL AND WILL NOT DO ANYTHING WHEN I TRIED TO INCREASE THE SPEED.
