I purchased a 2013 Ford Focus in the spring of 2020. I have taken my car to the dealership three times (it's about to be a fourth time) for the same Transmission Control Module issue. They keep replacing the part because it is recalled, and each time the new module stops working after roughly 5,000 miles. Today is the fourth time it has malfunctioned. The car shudders and jumps when I downshift at stoplights, and it will not shift to fourth gear to drive at acceptable speeds on the highway to my job. The car never shifts well, but this is dangerous.

Like me and countless others, the transmission shutters at low speed causing a safety issue, apparently people have been having this issue even out the door when their cars had 100 miles on them, I just got mine and it has this issue, I'm gonna go see how much it is to get fixed but I'd like it if I didnt have to pay since so many others are also having this issue

There is a shudder in the transmission when accelerating, upshifting and occasionally downshifting as well. It has not posed any safety risk yet. My car has not (to my knowledge) been inspected by a dealership, service center, insurance representative, etc. but there have been previous recalls for this issue. Since buying it last autumn there has been a small, almost unnoticeable shudder, but it has quickly gotten worse.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the RPM revved up and the vehicle started shuddering. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure would stop after driving for an extended period. However, the failure had been reoccurring while driving from a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to the used car dealer where an unknown software was reprogrammed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the used car dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission clutch had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,042.

The 2013 Ford focus has a manufacturer defect that the ford has been aware of. The vehicle has slowed down to 15 mph while I driving the expressway making it very unsafe. When I took it back to the dedealership I was told that I could not drive the car but no rental car would be provided to me. It has been over a month with no rental car and being unable to drive my vehicle, and Ford has not to accountability for the inconvenience that this has caused.

Dual clutch recall with actuators and TCM, FORD won't fix recall because it's on a national back order.

I was driving 65mph on CA highway 880 in the left carpool lane. Suddenly my transmission slipped and my car ended up in neutral. I was forced to park in whatever space there was between the concrete barrier and the carpool lane. After the car stopped, the transmission would not re-engage for another 3 minutes or so. After that it re-engaged and I was able to drive back home. My understanding this is one of the issues that can be expected with a Ford DPS6 transmission. COMPLETELY UNSAFE. I had two young children in the car.

Ford extended the warranty for the Transmission Control Module to 150,000 miles. Mine has failed at 160,000 miles but there is possibility for extension through Ford, they stated that this mileage is set by NHTSA. I don't mind repair cost, but to add insult the part is not available for 2 months as stated by the service department at the dealership. With current market situation, the mileage should be extended. This failure makes the car unsafe to drive, Ford should extend the warranty mileage further, especially in the current market of vehicle availability. Also, Ford needs to work with a supplier to improve lead times.

My daughter has a 2013 Ford Focus SE and has had numerous issues with her transmission which of recent has presented some serious safety concerns. She had driven her car to work and when attempting to leave after work was unable to get her car to move . She put the car in drive and reved the engine then in reverse the same , would not move. We had the car towed to Sarchione Ford of Alliance and was diagnosed as the Transmission Actuator A . My understanding of the Actuator is it engaged the transmission into gear. I recently read an article in a Ford Forum relating to the April 2020 Class Action Suit and I quote a blogger stated that this defect can abruptly cause car to jump into gear which could cause a safety issue . Another blogger stated that he had a similar issue while on...

The transmission on our 2013 has now failed. We brought it to Ford’s attention back During the Covid shut down before The Focus reached the 100,000 mile expiration. Ford said there’s nothing they can do about it. We gingerly drove the car to make the transmission last as long as possible and it lasted quite a while. However now the transmission has failed it and after taking the vehicle to a certified mechanic they found the DTC Code showed P0805:00-68, The description was clutch position sensor A circuit, and the status was continuous memory DTCs, another code PC805 had a similar description and a status of “freeze frame module2”. Certified mechanic check this out and reported this information to me told me to go to a transmission specialist. The transmission specialist said it would cost at least $500, but if it turned out that the central module was at fault...

This message is a complaint about my local car dealership and the car manufacturer of my vehicle. I will try to follow the general guidelines as much as possible. First off, I have a 2013 Ford Focus with numerous recalls. I recently dropped the vehicle off at my local car dealership the have those recalls worked on...and ONLY those recalls. The recalls include: - faulty transmission control module (TCM) - canister purge valve (CPV) being stuck open causing the plastic fuel tank to deform, causing incorrect gas tank readings - door latches not being secure - software update of the vehicle's computer...to also correct false computer readings. Symptoms I have with the vehicle are as follows: - difficulty with ignition, as I have to turn the key multiple times to start the vehicle; also happens when putting in gas - constant jerking of the vehicle while driving, especially when starting...

During startup after refilling tank with fresh gas it will putter and hesitate to stay stay on. Engine light came on had codes ran came back as codes P0171 system to lean secondary DTC P1450 unable to bleed up fuel tank. Was told that was caused by the EVAP so I needed that replaced. Then it’s starts again was told it was the canister purge valve. I had my car taken to a ford dealership and was told they didn’t see what the issue was. It is doing all the things that the recalls for the same year make and model did. It needs to be fixed because this is a safety issue. Next step is to hire an attorney and have vehicle throughly looked at.

I have had my car in at the ford dealership and I have been waiting on parts to come in. The recalls on the car which are the transmission control module and the gas tank deformation recall have not been completed on my vehicle but is showing up in the system as repaired. I have been waiting for over 10 months for these parts to come in for the repairs to be done. Now my car isn’t drivable and just sits in my driveway.

The transmission/clutch shutters between gears and has gotten progressively worse. I had the transmission fluid flushed at 30,000. Car now has 34,000 miles. The shutter/slip is now dramatic enough that I feel the car is not safe to drive.

There's an extended warranty on the TCMS on the fiestas and focuses from Ford from like 2011 to 16. I took advantage of them to replace the TCM but due to the TCM I guess malfunctioning the clutch itself has went out and now that's like dollars so the transmission control module in the clutch I feel should be covered under the customer satisfaction.

This car has a bad clutch/Auto transmission problem. It shudders and has to be replaced. I had mine replaced at 67,206 miles. Now 15,000 miles later, it has to be replaced again. Ford knows of this problem. Just about everyone who owns this car has had at least 1 replaced if not 3. Ford knows of the problem. Ford should have to pay for my repair. I am sure lots of other focus owners would like to get them replaced or get reimbursed for repairs they were forced to pay for.

My Ford Focus Electric has been experiencing sudden loss of power and then getting "stop safely now" messages. After a while it will run again. I brought it to Phil Long Ford of Denver back in August and they hooked up a testing unit and said they found nothing. During September, the car experience the "SSN" failure, and then would not start. I brought it to Phil Long Ford and they said it was a battery failure and would cost $19,000 to replace the battery and control unit. I researched the issue and see the Focus Electric was recalled for sudden loss of power while driving. It is NHTSA Campaign ID 13V523000 and NTHSA Action Number PE13031 . I asked Phil Long Ford to perform the recall and make the car safe to drive. They refused.

On the freeway and I received an error message stating to put the transmission on park on the interstate and the car shut down and almost hit several vehicles. This is very unsafe and don’t want anyone else to experience this. It was telling me to put it in park and I couldn’t shift it to park because I didn’t want the car go in a dead stop on a 5 lane freeway. And it has this bad shudder and I’ve replaced several components and find this very unsafe to drive as well as I feel like I’m going to hit a car in front of me!

I have a 2013 Ford Focus 4 Door Hatchback, It is at 70k miles and has been giving problems taking off from first gear. I took to Ford dealer to be evaluated and it’s the dul clutch system going bad which they have had many issues with. I feel is a safety issue I’m getting ready to have a baby and what if my car doesn’t go and hesitates and someone hits me or I get stuck in the middle of traffic! They had a warranty service for this issue on my exact car but you had to receive a paper in the mail to have the issue fixed which I am not the first owner and didn’t receive the letter. They also upped the warranty on the vehicle to 7 years 100k miles and unfortunately my vehicle was driven to little for the problem to become noticeable in the...

Check engine light came on Saturday morning on my way to work, When checked it comes up as fault codes P0420, with secondary codes of P144A - EVAP Emission System Purge Vapor Line Restricted/blocked, P1450 - Unable to bleed up fuel tank vacuum, and P0131 - O2 Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1, Sensor 1), And started stalling after putting new gas in only, and now hesitates at lower gears and has a rougher then normal idle with the rps not staying steady, Also when doing a VIN check on Fords website, or the NHTSA lookup it does not show up as a recall, however when I do a full VIN check it does show under the recalls page, I'm not sure if they marked it as completed for the VIN of this vehicle or not but its doing literally all the stuff stated in Ford Safety Recall 18S32 18V735000 or...

Approaching the George Washington bridge, I was in very very heavy traffic, stopping, starting, going super slowly. Warning light came on telling me to get off the road safely and let the transmission rest for 5 minutes. I followed directions then it happened again, stopped, waited, and it happened again. It is a dangerous area to pull off the road, very narrow breakdown lanes, big trucks, etc etc. Apparently, this is a chronic problem with the Ford Focus of certain years. There are some situations when one cannot get off the road safely, so this is potentially very dangerous. If one doesn't follow the directions one can have an even more serious transmission failure.

After driving my vehicle it stalls once it is stopped and I try to press the gas. This can cause a collision. This can either be the fuel system which they did have a recall on my car but the dealership decided it wasn't needed at the time. It could also be the power train. This incident has occurred multiple times since 2017.
#11424951 |
Check engine light came on. Before I had a chance to get it checked, the engine wouldn't start after refueling until trying on the fourth time. Took the car to a parts store and the code read P1450. An October 25, 2018 recall acknowledged a problem with 2012-18 Ford Focuses with a 2.0L engine. Although this problem is clearly acknowledged with this same year, model, and engine, my VIN is allegedly not covered in the recall. Dealer will not service the car under the recall.

HMM...there was not an incident to report per say but the next button stated incident report. I am more or less reporting a complaint due to my 2013 Ford Focus has been at AutoNation Ford since 5/17/21 for three recalls but only one has been taken care of and according to the advisor Susan Lee on Recall # 14M02 for TCM, that once they perform the reset procedure that my car may have 50/50 chance of starting due to the dual clutch transmission causing me to replace the clutches at my expense out of pocket. This I do not understand since my car was running before I took it in for the recall. I simply was Secondly, the system haven't confirmed the other two recalls because the mechanic apparently never completed them while having my car for the past two weeks which I thought he would. I am filing this...

I NEED THE CONTROL MODULE FOR THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM AND THE PART IS ONLY AVAILABLE AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP. I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE PART BECAUSE THEY HAVE 20,000 ON BACK ORDER BECAUSE THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON ISSUE. THIS PART CAUSES MY TRANSMISSION TO GO HAYWIRE AT TIMES. OFTEN SENDING MY RPMS TO HIGH LEVELS AS SOON AS I ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS DROPPING MY SON OFF AT DAYCARE AND THE CAR JOLTED FORWARD AS SOON AS I HIT THE GAS TO LEAVE MY DRIVEWAY AND AS I STARTED TO ACCELERATE TO THE SPEED LIMIT OF 45 MPH I COULD HEAR MY ENGINE WORKING REALLY HARD AND THE RPMS WERE ALL THE WAY UP AT 3. MY CAR WAS STRUGGLING TO SWITCH GEARS.
