The transmission warning light was illuminated. The "Take to the Dealer" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the vehicle was diagnosed, and a software update was performed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed about an extended warranty coverage, and referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
