Center piece of steering wheel is cracked
Sudden total loss of power steering on 2019 Ford F-150 XL Regular Cab 2WD, 3.3L V6 (VIN [XXX] , 170,000 miles). Purchased used in 2024 with clean Carfax — no accidents, no damage, no odometer issues. Sarasota Ford diagnosed multiple internal lost communication codes and failed pinpoint test — requires EPAS rack replacement ($2,700). Ford denied goodwill case XXX (escalated to supervisor Shaniqua) — based solely on mileage, despite: • TSB 19-2306 • SSM 51226 • 1,200+ NHTSA complaints for 2015–2019 F-150 EPAS • Lincoln v. Ford lawsuit (Case 1:19-cv-02741) covering 2019 models Rep Haley stated “safety is not a deciding factor”. High crash risk — nearly lost control in traffic. Clean Carfax proves no abuse — mileage must not override a known safety defect. Sincerely [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power while depressing the accelerator pedal, and hesitated while accelerating after a complete stop. The contact stated that occasionally the check engine warning light illuminated, and the dipstick was checked, and the engine oil was low. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, and an oil and oil filter change was performed as part of an oil consumption test. On the next visit for an oil change, the dealer discovered that the engine was consuming a quart of engine oil between oil changes. The contact inspected the vehicle and discovered that the engine was consuming three quarts of engine oil between oil changes. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer ,where a diagnostic was performed, and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the engine...
The truck would just shut off while driving or not start whenever you need it to. It acts like a dead battery but the battery is fine. It has been at the dealership for 45 days plus straight for this issue. When it cuts out, we lose all steering all breaking all power. I’m very lucky it hasn’t taken my life or one of my family members lives. There are some innocent person on the road because of The lack of quality and workmanship. In my opinion the truck needs to be recalled because it’s been nothing but a hassle for us.
Loss of power steering resulting in steering gear needing to be replaced.
The vehicle steering wheel turns by itself, without warning, causing me to fight the steering wheel to maintain proper control and direction. I reported the issue to my mechanic and had him inspect and paid $129 to have a full alignment. After a road test, the problem still exists. The mechanic deemed the problem as "dangerous to drive". After contacting ford the recall referenced 24S45. supposedly Ford has yet to come up with a fix.
The contact owned a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his son was driving approximately 25-35 MPH, the steering function failed, and the vehicle veered to the right. The driver attempted to turn to the left, but the steering was inoperable. The vehicle went over a curb and crashed into two mailboxes. There were no reported injuries or fires. The air bag warning was illuminated, but the air bag cover detached, and the air bag failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V316000 (Steering). The vehicle was towed to a body shop. The contact called the local dealer, who informed him there was no recall coverage. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, who opened a case and referred to the NHTSA hotline. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by...
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle and turning the steering wheel, the steering wheel was significantly loosened. The contact who is an independent mechanic, to the steering wheel apart, and became aware that the nut used to secure the steering wheel to the steering shaft had become loosened. The contact tightened the steering nut to secure the steering wheel. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
The steering started to ‘jump’ upon making a turn. Upon inspection it has been determined that the steering column needs to be replaced for safety and vehicle function. We have less than 82,000 miles on the vehicle. It has been inspected by our mechanic and replacement part has been ordered (takes up to 5 days to receive).
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle shook uncontrollably. The contact was hauling a trailer during the failure. While the vehicle was shaking, the trailer caused the vehicle to spin-out. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed however, the contact was not provided the diagnostic results. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advise the contact to reach out to her insurance provider for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was unavailable.
While driving vehicle displays "Service Advance Trac", "Pre collision assist not available", "hill assist not available" and the drive mode will not work. Brake lights are also on all the time as well. Dealership says the vehicles steering column needs to be replaced only 2 months after purchase. Dealer has diagnosed the issue but did not provide codes.
The tie rod broke while driving causing the truck to collapse and significant damage to the rest of the suspension. There were no warning lights on. The truck has been inspected by a dealer and insurance representative and the damage and cause has been confirmed. This incident put the driver’s and passenger’s safety, including children, and potentially lives in danger.
OUR BRAND NEW 2019 FORD F150 WAS HAVING SHIFTING PROBLEMS. VERY ROUGH SHIFT FROM 5 TO 6TH ETC. CLUNKY. CALLED DEALER. WAS TOLD IT WOULD "EVEN OUT" DRIVING FROM TX TO GA IT ONLY GOT WORSE. DEALERSHIP IN GA SAYS IT WAS SHIPPED LOW OF TRANSMISSION FLUID. IT IS A CLOSED SYSTEM, SO THEY SAID IT HAD TO BE SHIPPED FROM THE FACTORY LOW. WE DROVE 5500 MILES WITH A TRANSMISSION THAT WAS 2 QTS LOW AND GOT NO ERRORS, LIGHTS OR NOTIFICATIONS. WE PICKED UP THE TRUCK ON OCT 10, 2020. IT STILL FELT VERY CLUNKY, SO WE TRIED IN NOVEMBER AND EARLY DECEMBER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AGAIN. THEY COULD NOT GET A LOANER ETC. IT WAS NOT SERVICED A SECOND TIME AT THIS POINT. ON DEC 24TH AROUND, WE WERE DRIVING DOWN I 20 GOING ROUGHLY 70MPH. THANKFULLY, MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING. THE TRUCK BEGAN TO...
THIS HAPPENED TWICE TODAY 10/24/2020. FIRST TIME I WAS STOPPED AT A TURNING LIGHT ON A MAIN ROAD AND AS SOON AS I LET OFF THE BREAK THE ENGINE SHUTOFF. SECOND TIME I WAS IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD MAKING A TURN AND THE ENGINE SHUTOFF ONCE AGAIN DISPLAYING THE IMAGE ATTACHED.
WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT WITH BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL AND ABOVE ABOUT 40 MPH, A MESSAGE AND ALARM GO OFF THAT SAYS "KEEP YOUR HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL". THIS OCCURS ON JUST ABOUT EVERY STRAIGHT AWAY AND BECOMES VERY ANNOYING. IT ALSO DISTRACTS ME WHEN I SHOULD BE PAYING ATTENTION TO THE ROAD. I'VE HAD IT IN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THIS AND ON THE LAST VISIT THEY CALLED FORD TECHNICAL SUPPORT. THEY SAID THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT THAT THEY WEREN'T DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I FEEL ITS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IT DISTRACTS THE DRIVER NEEDLESSLY.
HIGH AMPLITUDE VIBRATION AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. MOST NOTICEABLE BETWEEN 50 AND 70MPH. I COMPLAINED ABOUT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DETERMINED THE RING AND PINION GEARS NEEDED REPLACING AT 4200 MILES. VIBRATION PERSISTED, SO I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY TRIED ROADFORCE BALANCING THE WHEELS/TIRES AND CHECKING FOR RUNOUT. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM EITHER. THEN THEY TRIED REPLACING WHEELS AND TIRES ALL TOGETHER, STILL WITH NO SUCCESS. *TR
I JUST BOUGHT MY TRUCK AND HAVE HONKED MY HORN TWO TIMES. BOTH TIMES THE PERFORATED SEAL FOR THE AIRBAG HAS SPLIT OPEN. I GOT IT REPAIRED THE FIRST TIME AND NOW I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET IT REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THIS IS A DEFECT, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO APPLY PRESSURE TO HONK A HORN. ESPECIALLY IF SOMEONE PULLS OUT IN FRONT OF YOU AND YOU HAVE TO ABRUPTLY APPLY THE BRAKES AT THE SAME TIME AS HONKING. THIS CREATES A FORWARD FORCE THAT MAKES YOU PRESS HARDER AS WELL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL, AS I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THE AIRBAG NOW, IF IT WILL WORK AT ALL, OR IF IT WILL DEPLOY FOR NO REASON AND INJURE ME. BOTH TIMES I WAS DRIVING, BUT ONLY THE FIRST TIME DID I HAVE TO HIT THE BRAKES HARD, THE SECOND TIME WAS A NORMAL HONK...
STEERING HAS A HARMONIC VIBRATION AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40 MPH. ALL ROADS.
OCCASIONALLY THE STEERING WANTS TO FORCE THE CAR INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC (TO THE LEFT) WHILE IN MOTION. THIS HAPPENS AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS RANDOM SYSTEM FAULTS SHOWING ALL SYSTEMS OFFLINE: CRUISE CONTROL, ANTI-COLLSION, BLIND SPOT MONITORING, ADVANCETRAC... *TR CONSUMER STATED ADDITIONAL INFO, THESE ALERTS WERE SENT TO MY FORDPASS ACCOUNT. NOW THE DEALER CANNOT FIND ANY INDICATION THAT THE TRUCK HAD ISSUES. BUT THEIR OWN VEHICLE SENT ME NOTICES.
