2019 FORD F-150 Back Over Prevention Sensing System Camera Problems

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while reversing, the rearview camera image was distorted. The contact stated that the rearview camera operated as needed upon opening and closing the tailgate; however, the failure had been recurring more increasingly, and the rearview camera image was distorted while reversing. The message "Back Up Camera Not Available" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V252000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the VIN was not included. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The rear view camera failed and showed "Camera is unavailable". It is available for inspection. There is no back over prevention. The vehicle has not taken to a dealer or inspected at this time. It is scheduled for repair or replacement on 1-24-24. There was no warning or messages prior to the failure. The problem first appeared on 1-16-24.

The vehicle information screen in the center of the dash has failed. Some of the functions such as hands free cell phone connectivity, navigation, and radio functionality fails requiring manual intervention while driving. This results in distracted driving to correct the issues. The design and expectations are hands free operation of those functions via voice commands, controls on the steering wheel, or automatic functionality. At times the screen goes completely black and distracting noises come from the radio. Upon review of various forums, this appears to be a known long term problem with this important component on several Ford models. This functionality is right in your face and when it doesn’t work, I and most other drivers are focused on the fix and distracting from driving.

Back up camera inoperable, intermittently

My Synch 3 system has been acting up since I installed Fords last update. It shows the back up camera when I drive forward. The screen will also go black forcing me to reset it. The reset doesn't work for more then a couple of days and doesn't completely ix the issues either. I cannot get it to pair my phone either and have not been able to use hands free while driving for 3 months now. I believe this is a safety issue that needs to be fixed by Ford as there are numerous complaints on line.

Rearview camera system malfunction. Randomly sync screen stays black. Randomly vehicle continues to show rear camera even though vehicle is driving forward. Problem started around April 2023 at 60,000 miles.

For the last four months, February 2023, through June, July 2023 the main computer screen will intermittently go black. This illuminates the N vehicle, NAV system, phone system, backup, cameras, Ford cameras, driver, seat, control. This vehicle was covered under a warranty. This vehicle was brought to the dealer and an error code could not be generated. The dealer states that this is the sink system. Video will be attached if this complaint form allows. Despite video the dealer will not replace the sink system. This is a danger to anyone over the age of 70 driving this vehicle or perhaps any age individual. In addition, the NAV system, directional control, Forward adaptive cruise control appears not working at the same time. This is a health and safety issue perhaps even a life endangering situation.

Touch screen Sync3 version 22251 resets every time the truck is turned off and back on. Sometimes the screen is completely blank and sometimes unresponsive to touch. Controls for climate, radio, phone, and all other touch screen options become unavailable. Ford is aware and hasn’t made any updates in over 8 months.

Tsb 22-2254, causing people's voice command and rear camera issues. There are many issues with Sync 3 on this matter. It should be a recall. They did it for the other models. 2019 f159

My truck backup camera is not working. It goes black or distorted to where you can’t see anything behind you. It identical to a recall on other 2019 Ford F150s. But my truck is not on that recall. If the problem is the exact same, shouldn’t it be fixed through the recall as well?

The contact was informed that recalls were VIN specific. The manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to have the vehicle inspected at a dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

I purchased my 2019 Ford F-150 used in October of 2022 directly from a Ford dealer. The reverse view on the infotainment screen was foggy at the time of purchase due to moisture in the rear view camera. My local Ford dealer told me that the specific rear view camera in my truck was part of a massive recall, but they would not replace the camera because my VIN was not included on the recall list. I am confused as to how a part can be found defective and a recall issued to replace the part, but a vehicle made with the defective part is left off of the recall order. In any case, I purchased a new backup camera directly from Ford. The original camera has been superseded by a new part number. Hopefully, the new camera will not have the moisture issue. I have the old backup camera...

Backup camera faulty shows blurry screen when putting truck in reverse also sometimes shows no picture and just different colors on screen. 2019 F150, 20k miles.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on several occasions while the vehicle was shifted into reverse(R), the Back Over Prevention camera failed to operate. The contact stated that the screen display either a distorted or a blank image. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Backup camera stopped functioning properly. This vehicle has not been recalled although a lot of other from the same model year have for this issue, I believe it is more widespread than ford is claiming.

rear View Camera malfunction. Sometimes it is a blank screen, sometimes it has wavy lines while other times it works fine. Can't see to back up. Almost hit another vehicle. No warnings or lights.

Due to a poor electrical connection, the rearview camera intermittently displays a distorted image. As such, the vehicle fails to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111 "Rear Visibility".
