DOOR LOCKS FREEZE AND WON'T CATCH. USUALLY FOLLOWS A PERIOD OF SNOW, RAIN OR A CAR WASH AND THEN FREEZING TEMPERATURES. ALL FOUR DOORS ON MY F150 HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS AND ONE TIME THE DOOR CAME UNLATCHED WHILE I WAS DRIVING.
THE DOORS (ALL 4) FREEZE IN TEMP BELOW 30 DEGREES. FORD REPLACED THE HARDWARE 4 TIMES AND THEY STILL FREEZE. AFTER YOU OPEN THE DOORS THEY WILL NOT CLOSE UNTIL THEY THAW. WHILE DRIVING ON 2 OCCASIONS THE DOORS FLEW OPEN WHILE MOVING. NOW USE DUCT TAPE TO HOLD DOORS CLOSED
THE REAR TAILGATE OPENED UP TWICE, ONCE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE SECOND TIME PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT. THIS WAS DURING THE WINTER TIME. I SPRAYED SOME WD40 ON THE REAR LATCHES THINKING THAT WOULD HELP BUT DID NOT. I REALIZED THE LEFT SIDE LATCH WAS NOT ENGAGING ALL THE WAY. I COULD PULL ON THE TOP LEFT SIDE TAILGATE AND IT WAS LOOSE. SO I WOULD HAVE TO SLAM THE TAILGATE UNTIL IT ENGAGED. I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALER TO LOOK AT, ALONG WITH TWO OTHER RECALL ISSUES. ON MY INVOICE THEY STATED THEY 'ADJUSTED TAIL GATE STRIKERS AND RETEST OPERATION', IN TIME I'LL SEE IF THIS WORKED OR NOT. WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE WAS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE?

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F150. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V652000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH MARYSVILLE FORD (15900 SMOKEY POINT BLVD, MARYSVILLE, WA 98271, (360) 659-4000) ON THREE DIFFERENT DATES AND WAS ADVISED THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO COMPLETE THE RECALL REPAIR. ON APRIL 2, 2017, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR LATCHES FAILED AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE UNLOCKED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE IN SIX MONTHS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. *TT
2016 FORD F150 WITH 23,400 MILES & 23 MONTHS IN SERVICE. THE BACK GLASS (REAR WINDOW) SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35 DEGREES F AND I HAD USED THE REMOTE START FEATURE WHICH TURNS ON THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER. I STARTED DRIVING AND HAD JUST PULLED OUT OF THE PARKING LOT WHEN I HEARD THE SOUND OF THE GLASS CRACKING. I PULLED OVER AND TOOK PICTURES. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION. THEY TOOK PHOTOS AND SUBMITTED TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR WARRANTY CONSIDERATION. IT WAS REJECTED. IT APPEARS THAT THE EITHER THE REAR WINDOW OR THE REAR DEFROSTER IS DEFECTIVE. I HAVE SEEN SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND BELIEVE THAT THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AND IF IT DOES, IT NEEDS TO BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. THANK YOU.

THERE WAS A RECALL ON DOOR THEY FIXED IT BUT IT DID NOT WORK DOOR STILL SHACKS AND HAS COME OPEN WHILE DRIVING 2 TIMES
DOOR LATCHES BEING STUCK OPEN OR CLOSE DURING COLD CLIMATE (32 DEGREES OR BELOW) WHEN DOOR LATCH IS FROZEN, OUTSIDE HANDLE CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR. ONCE OPENED, DOOR CANNOT BE CLOSED AND LATCHED DUE TO FROZEN MECHANISM. FORD OF NORTH AMERICA SENT OUT A RECALL ADVISORY WITH NOT EFFECTIVE REMEDY OR FIX. NO NEW OR UPDATED PARTS.
SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH LOCAL DEALER IN RESPONSE TO RECALL NOTICE 17S33 REGARDING DOORS THAT MAY NOT OPEN OR CLOSE WHILE DRIVING (NHTSA RECAL # 17V652. UPON ARRIVAL AT DEALER, WAS ADVISED THAT THEY RAN OUT OF PARTS AND THAT I WOULD BE CALLED WHEN PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE. AS OF TODAY, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY CALLS. NEED TO KNOW IF FORD HAS TRULY RUN OUT OF PARTS FOR RECALL, AND WHETHER VEHICLE CAN/SHOULD BE DRIVEN IN THIS CONDITION.
THE RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT SHUT, ALSO THE LEFT PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER FROM WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THERE IS A BACK ORDER ON PARTS WITH NO KNOWN TIME FRAME WHEN THEY WILL RECEIVE THE PARTS. RECALL NUMBER IS 17S33/ NHTSA RECALL 17V-652. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO OPERATE DUE TO THIS CONDITION.
FORD F-150 DOOR LATCH RECALL - 17S33 / NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V652 EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS OF DOORS NOT LATCHING DURING COLD WEATHER. (BOTH FRONT AND BACK DOORS WERE AFFECTED). RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE IN OCTOBER 2017, IN JANUARY 2018 MY LOCAL DEALER HAD THE UPDATED PARTS FROM FORD AND PERFORMED THE RECALL REPAIR. THE REPAIR DID NOT FIX ANYTHING. STILL EXPERIENCE DOORS NOT LATCHING DURING COLD WEATHER. GENERALLY VEHICLE IS STATIONARY IN THE DRIVEWAY AS I ATTEMPT AND GET IT TO LATCH. OFTEN MAKING ME LATE. HOWEVER, ONCE WHILE IN MOTION THE DRIVERS DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE DRIVING TO WORK AFTER I BELIEVED IT TO BE CLOSED AND LATCHED. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. SMALL CHILDREN RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE. FORD HAS NOT OFFERED ANY REPAIR OPTIONS TO DATE.

WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE AT FREEZING, DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE. WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID ALSO FREEZES EVEN THOUGH RATED FOR -40 DEGREES. REPAIR WAS MADE BY FORD TO DOOR LATCH BUT PROBLEM CONTINUES. TYPICALLY, CAR HAS BEEN PARKED IN COLD WEATHER. SEE JOB #2 ON ATTACHED DOCUMENTATION FOR LATEST REPAIR ATTEMPT. MANY COMPLAINTS FROM CUSTOMERS ON FORUMS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!!!!
ONE COLD MORNING THE DRIVERS DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT AND LATCH. I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE 30 MILES TO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE DOOR FLOPPING OPEN EVERY TIME I SLOWED DOWN. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY IF CHILDREN ARE INVOLVED. I CAN'T BELIEVE AN AUTO MANUFACTURE CAN SELL A VEHICLE WHERE THE DOORS WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS I WILL TAKE A VIDEO OF THE DOOR NOT CLOSING.
DOOR DOES NOT LATCH AND OPENS WHILE DRIVING. RECALL 17S33. DEALER KEEPS GETTING INCORRECT REPLACEMENT PARTS FROM FORD -- THE SAME PARTS THAT WERE DEFECTIVE. REPEATED CALLS TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE GET A CASE NUMBER CAS 14003124 AND COMMENT THAT THEY WILL REFER IT TO THE DEALER (WHO IS FRUSTRATED AND STATES THAT THE PROBLEM SHOULD BE TAKEN UP WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE DEALER ALSO CLAIMS THAT THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH NUMEROUS OTHER CARS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
SECOND COMPLAINT REGARDING FREEZING DOOR LATCHES CAUSING DOORS TO NOT LATCH SHUT AND OPEN WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. TRUCK HAS BEEN SERVICED 3 SEPARATE TIMES, WITH LATCHES, RODS, & RAIN SHIELDS INSTALLED/REPLACED UNDER TSB (NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RECALL SINCE TSB HAS BEEN ATTEMPTED). CONTACTED MANUFACTURER'S CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND REPRESENTATIVE APOLOGIZED AND STATED THEY HAVE RECEIVED MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND SHE DIRECTED ME TO THE MANUFACTURER'S VEHICLE BUYBACK DEPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE BUYBACK DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE AGAIN CONFIRMED THEY HAVE RECEIVED NUMEROUS, SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND THEY WOULD REVIEW MY WARRANTY HISTORY TO DETERMINE IF A BUYBACK WAS APPROPRIATE. AFTER 1 WEEK, THE BUYBACK DEPARTMENT CONTACTED ME AND STATED THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO BUY BACK THE VEHICLE DESPITE THE SAFETY CONCERN IDENTIFIED. THE REPRESENTATIVE DIRECTED ME TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU'S AUTO HOTLINE LISTED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL TO CONSIDER ARBITRATION PROCEEDINGS. DOOR LATCHES WERE FREEZING AND RENDERING MY VEHICLE UNSAFE AS THE DOOR WOULD OPEN, BUT THEN NOT SHUT. FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL AND I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO KENNY ROSS FORD IN ADAMSBURG, PA TO HAVE THE RECALL WORK PERFORMED. ON 1/2/2018, KENNY ROSS FORD INDICATED THAT THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL FIX. HOWEVER, ON 1/13/2018, MY DOOR ONCE AGAIN FROZE IN THE OPEN POSITION AND WOULD NOT SHUT. THIS WAS AFTER MY VEHICLE HAD THE FORD RECALL PARTS INSTALLED. I'M CONCERNED THAT FORD ISN'T TAKING THIS SAFETY HAZARD SERIOUSLY. I'M INTERESTED TO HEAR WHAT MY BEST COURSE OF ACTION IS TO HOLD FORD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS UNSAFE CONDITION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,700. *TT THE CONSUMER STATED THE REPAIR WAS MADE BY THE DEALER AFTER PARTS WERE MADE AVAILABLE BY FORD. *TR
DOOR LOCKS FREEZE OPEN AND WILL NOT LATCH. THE VEHICLE HAS BE DRIVEN WITH THE DOORS UNLATCHED. FORD'S TSB AND NOW RECALL (FOR THE DRIVER DOOR ONLY) HAS BEEN PERFORMED ON ALL FOUR DOORS LAST YEAR. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR IT THIS YEAR AND SEVERAL TIMES LAST YEAR. THIS IS THE SECOND COMPLAINT.
VEHICLE HAS BEEN INTO DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES FOR ISSUES WITH DOOR AND TAILGATE MECHANISMS FREEZING AND BECOMING INOPERABLE IN TEMPERATURES UNDER 32 DEGREES. DOORS WILL FREEZE AND 'LOCK' ME OUT OF THE VEHICLE -OR- THE DOORS WILL OPEN BUT NOT LATCH SHUT UPON CLOSING. FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS WIDELY-KNOWN ISSUE, BUT MY VEHICLE'S VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. THE DEALER HAS BEEN GREAT AT EXPERIMENTING WITH VARIOUS PART REPLACEMENTS, BUT THEY HAVE RECEIVED LIMITED GUIDANCE FROM FORD IN ORDER TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM FOR GOOD.
DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS OFTEN WILL NOT LATCH SHUT IN COLD TEMPERATURES. VEHICLE STATIONARY, TO DRIVE IN THIS CONDITION I WOULD NEED TO HOLD DOOR CLOSED BY HAND.
DRIVERS DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH DOOR CLOSED DURING 15 DEGREE WEATHER TODAY. DOOR UNLOCKED VIA KEYLESS ENTRY AND OPENED OK - BUT WHEN CLOSED IT WOULD NOT LATCH SHUT. LAST WINTER VEHICLE DRIVERS DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK, TSB 16-0155 APPLIED. FORD STATES RECALL 17S33 DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE SINCE TSB 16-0155 WAS COMPLETED, HOWEVER PROBLEM STILL EXISTS.
DRIVERS DOOR UNABLE TO LATCH CLOSED WHEN COLD. 15 DEGREES THIS MORNING, UNLOCKED VEHICLE VIA KEYLESS ENTRY. DRIVERS DOOR OPENED OK, WHEN CLOSED JUST POPPED BACK OPEN - DID NOT LATCH CLOSED.
WHILE PUTTING MY SON IN THE BACK PASSENGER'S SIDE OF MY TRUCK, WHEN I WENT TO CLOSE THE PASSSENGER'S SIDE REAR DOOR IT WOULD NOT LATCH. I ATTEMPTED MULTIPLE TIMES TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT LATCH. I HAD TO USE THE FRONT DOOR TO KEEP IT CLOSED SO I COULD BRING HIM TO SCHOOL. THIS ISSUE WAS ALREADY REPAIRED ONCE LAST WINTER AND IT IS STILL OCCURRING. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME IT GETS COLD OUTSIDE.
TAILGATE CABLES DO NOT EVENLY SUPPORT THE TAILGATE. TAILGATE OVER TIME WILL BECOME"RACKED OUT OF SQUARE" RESULTING IN DIFFICULTIES OPENING THE TAILGATE. THIS HAS OCCURRED IN MY PREVIOUS F-150
WHEN I LEFT FOR WORK TODAY, I WENT TO SHUT MY DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT LATCH. I HAD TO SLAM THE DOOR 4 OR 5 TIMES IN ORDER TO GET IT TO FINALLY LATCH. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 20DEG F. THIS OCCURRED LAST WINTER AND FORD REPAIRED THE CONDITION AT THAT TIME. I ALSO RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS CONDITION, BUT REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE YET. LAST TIME THIS OCCURRED THE DOOR OPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING WHICH IS NOT SAFE.
FORD ISSUED A RECALL FOR FREEZING DOOR LATCHES, AND IS UNABLE TO FIX MY TRUCK DUE TO "NO PARTS AVAILABLE". DOOR LATCHES FREEZE IN INCLEMENT WEATHER CAUSING DOORS TO NOT SECURELY SHUT. FORD RESPONSE TO ME WHEN I CONTACTED CUSTOMER SUPPORT WAS I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL, NO IT IS UP TO ME TO AVOID CAUSING ANY DAMAGE SINCE I NOW KNOW ABOUT THE ISSUE. I FEEL THIS ANSWER IS COMPLETELY WRONG. FORD SHOULD HAVE PARTS READILY AVAILABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE THAT MAY INJURE SOMEONE.

WHEN STATIONARY, THE TRUCK BACK PASSENGER SIDE DOOR DOES NOT ALWAYS CLOSE. THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT DOOR DOES NOT STAY OPEN WHEN ON A MINOR GRADE AND STATIONARY. THE DEALER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A BODY SHOP TO ALIGN THE DOORS, AS THEY WERE OFF ALIGNMENT ABOUT 1/8-1/4". WHEN I COMPALINED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS STILL MISALIGNED I WAS TOLD THAT "THESE ARE MASS PRODUCED AND THIS JUST HAPPENS". I RECENTLY RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ABOUT THE DOORS COMING OPEN WHILE DRIVING, NOT SHUTTING COMPLETELY, ETC. I CALLED FORD MOTOR CO AND TOLD THEM I'D ALREADY HAD THE DOOR ISSUES ADDRESSED ONCE. I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD MAKE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WHEN THE CORRECT PARTS WERE DELIVERED TO MY DEALER. I ASKED IF A RENTAL CAR WOULD BE AUTHORIZED. THE ANSWER WAS NO. I ASKED IF I SHOULD DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THAT WAS MY CALL....
FORD HAS A MAJOR RECALL ON 2016 - 2017 F150S FAULTY DOOR LATCHES THAT COME OPEN WHILE DRIVING AND WONT OPEN . I HAD A INCIDENT BACK IN WINTER WHERE MY NEPHEW ALMOST FELL OUT . CONTACTED SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS TOLD FORD HAS NO FIX OR PARTS AT THIS TIME . THEN MAJOR RECALL CAME ON TV CALLED SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS TOLD SAME THING NO FIX . SENT CERTIFIED LETTER TOO FORD CORPORATION AS INSTRUCTIONS FOR OHIO LEMON LAWS AS MY TRUCK WAS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD WITH LESS THAN 18000 MILES AND FALLS UNDER OHIO LEMON LAW. WAS CONTACTED TODAY 11/1/17 BY FORD CORPORATION AND WAS TOLD TOO CONTACT LOCAL FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT I ONCE AGAIN EXPLAINED THEY HAVE NO FIX & NO PARTS WAS TOLD BASICALLY SORRY ABOUT YOUR LUCK.THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE ESPECIALLY WITH WINTER APPROACHING .IF DOOR LATCHES COME OPEN SOMEONE COULD FALL OUT RESULTING...
IN COLDER WEATHER UNDER 30 DEGREES, THE DOORS FREEZE SHUT. ONCE THEY ARE OPENED, THEY WILL NOT LATCH WHEN SHUT. OVERALL, THE DOORS ARE NOT EASY TO CLOSE AND LATCH TIGHTLY UNLESS THEY ARE CLOSED WITH A LOT OF FORCE. THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME REMEDY TO THIS AS IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
DOORS AND TAILGATE FAIL TO LOCK AND UNLOCK IN COLD WEATHER. MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IN OR OUT OF TRUCK IN AN EMERGENCY.
PURCHASED MY 2016 FORD F150, BRAND NEW. DURING COLD TEMPERATURES THE DOOR LOCKS DO NOT UNLOCK AND IF YOU ARE ABLE TO GET UNLOCKED THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK NOR LATCH. SPOKE TO FORD MANUFACTURER AND FORD SERVICE DEPT, THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND THERE IS A BACK ORDER OF PARTS, SINCE JANUARY OF 2017, WHEN I STARTED HAVE ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE. I AM SEEKING LEGAL ADVICE IN GETTING VEHICLE BOUGHT BACK FROM FORD COMPANY, MINUS DEPRECIATION.
2016 F150 CREW CAB LARIAT, DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED TO UNLATCH WITH FOB OR WITH NUMBER PAD FROM THE OUTSIDE. WAS ONLY ABLE TO UNLOCK DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. IT IS INTERMITTENT AND DEPENDS ON THE TEMPERATURE AND SEEMS TO HAPPEN IF MOISTURE IS PRESENT. APPROXIMATELY 4800 MILES ON F150. THIS LATCH PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE QUITE COMMON WITH OTHER NEW F150'S. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM.
IN TEMPERATURES BELOW 20 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, THE DOOR LATCHES (FRONT & REAR) WILL FREEZE IN THE UNLATCHED POSITION WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO LATCH THE DOOR CLOSED UNTIL THAWED OUT. I'VE HAD TO DRIVE HOLDING THE DOOR CLOSED BY HAND ON 7 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS UNTIL THE DOOR WOULD LATCH. MY VEHICLE IS ALWAYS PARKED OUTSIDE IN MY DRIVEWAY AS MY GARAGE IS TOO SMALL FOR IT. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE DOOR LATCHES WERE ON BACKORDER FROM FORD THROUGH APRIL. THERE IS NO RECALL ISSUED AS OF YET.
ONGOING ISSUE WITH DOOR LATCHES NOT OPERATING WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE BELOW FREEZING. THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH UNLESS THE DOOR IS LOCKED. IT SEEMS IT THEN IS UNABLE TO BE UNLOCKED REMOTELY OR BY POWER LOCKS. ONLY WAY IS TO MANUALLY OPEN THE DOOR FROM INSIDE THE CAB. I HAVE A SAFETY CONCERN OFN THIS ISSUE AS THE DOOR NOT LATCHING MAY OPEN WHILE IN MOTION.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-150 SUPER CAB. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPENED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRACTURED PAWL SPRINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
I HAVE A FORD F150 WITH ONLY 6K MILES. GREAT TRUCK! HOWEVER, THE FRONT DOOR HAS BEEN FREEZING UP IN 20-30 DEGREE WEATHER. THIS BECOMES AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THE DOOR LOCKS AND LATCHES HAVE ISSUES WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE DROPS BELOW FREEZING. GETTING IN THE TRUCK IS QUESTIONABLE BUT THE DRIVERS DOOR NOT LATCHING WILL EVENTUALLY HAVE SOMEONE FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT TRYING TO DRIVE WITH ONE HAND WHILE HOLDING THE DOOR CLOSED WITH THE OTHER. THIS SOUNDS LIKE A COMMON ISSUE FROM MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET FORUMS AND FORD IS SLOW OR NOT REALLY RESPONDING QUICKLY TO THE PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT A ISSUE IN WARM WEATHER STATES BUT IN OHIO ITS A REAL ISSUE.
SUPERCREW REAR DOOR LOCKS FAIL TO ELECTRONICALLY UNLOCK (OR LOCK) IN FREEZING TEMPERTURES. GETTING INTO THE VEHICHLE REQUIRES CLIMBING INTO THE BACK SEAT FROM THE FRONT AND MANUALLY CYCLING THE DOOR LOCK. HOWEVER THIS DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM; THE ELECTRONIC FOB AND INTERIOR BUTTTONS STILL FAIL TO ACTUATE THE LOCKING MECHNAISM UNTIL WARMER TEMPERATRES RETURN. IN ADDITION TO DAILEY INCONVENIENCE THIS SENARIO RAISES MORE SERIOUS CONCERNS SUCH AS: LACK OF ACCESS TO PASSENGERS IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, INABILITY TO SECURE (LOCK) THE VEHICLE CONFIEDENTLY, POTENTIAL TO BE LOCKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE IN EXTREME COLD AND OTHER UNFORESEEN SAFTEY CONCERNS.
TWO OCCASIONS (OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURES LESS THAN 32F WITH LIGHT RAIN AND FREEZING FOG) - BOTH REAR DOORS (CREW CAB) WERE FROZEN SHUT AND FAILED TO OPEN FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. ON ONE OCCASION, BOTH REAR DOORS OPERATED NORMALLY AFTER THE ENGINE WARMED UP AND INTERIOR TEMPERATURE ROSE TO 72F. ON THE SECOND OCCASION, THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR BECAME AJAR (NOT LATCHED AT ALL) ABOUT 10 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING HOME AND WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE DOOR SWUNG OPEN WHEN TURNING RIGHT ON A CURVE IN THE ROAD. TWO OCCASIONS (OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURES LESS THAN 32F WITH LIGHT RAIN OR FREEZING FOG): WHILE ENTERING A MILITARY INSTALLATION, THE DRIVER'S DOOR POWER WINDOW WOULD NOT OPEN (FROZEN SHUT). I OPENED THE DRIVER'S DOOR TO SHOW MY ID TO THE GATE GUARD AND THE DOOR FAILED TO LATCH SHUT. IT OCCURRED ABOUT 10 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING HOME WITH THE INTERIOR WARM...
I AM PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. ON MORNINGS FOLLOWING A PRECIPITATION EVENT WHERE THE TEMPERATURE DROPS BELOW FREEZING THE LOCKING MECHANISM FREEZES MAKING THE DOORS INOPERABLE. IF I AM ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO OPEN BY USING THE FRONT DOORS I CANNOT LATCH THE DOORS CLOSED. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE MORNINGS.
THE DRIVER DOOR LATCH ON MY TRUCK WHEN COLD WILL FREEZE AND NOT OPEN/UNLOCK UNTIL THE TRUCK HAS BEEN WARMED UP FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME RANGING UP TO 40 MINUTES. I HAVE BEEN LOCKED OUT OF MY VEHICLE AT A GAS STATION, RETUARANT, MY HOUSE AND HAVE EVEN BEEN LOCKED IN MY TRUCK WHERE I HAD TO WAIT 10 MINUTES FOR IT TO THAW AND ALLOW ME TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE IF I CANT EXIT MY VEHICLE IF INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT OR BEING STRANDED OUTSIDE OF MY VEHICLE IN COLD TEMPS.
