All Forward Collision Avoidance Warnings Complaints
Driving vehicle after about 20min of run time the transmission downshifts hard and all or most driver assistance feature warnings alert they are not functioning. Engine RPMS raise but vehicle does not move. Vehicle got stranded on busy road during rush hour with no ability to move on its' own. Check Engine light and other warnings on dashboard. Later diagnosis with a scan tool and pin point testing verified that the Lead Frame inside the transmission has failed at 80k miles. More concerning than early failure is the safety problem this poses. Braking, steering, and propulsion are all affected significantly! Once vehicle is stopped and put into park it won't shift or start again. Also if the vehicle is in park when symptoms are present any input on the gas pedal raises and holds the engine RPM at redline/rev-limiter for approximately 5 seconds. Intermittently, when using my adaptive cruise control at freeway speeds, the breaks are suddenly applied hard when there is no car in front of me. It has happened several times. So far, it hasn't caused any loss of control, but it does cause cars behind me to slam on their brakes. It generally would slow the car 30-40 mph suddenly, without warning. The date and mileage I am showing below is the last time it happened. It has been happening since the vehicle was new in 2016, but without being able to recreate the problem for the dealer, I didn't notify them. But the situation is getting worse and seems to be happening more often. Also, in separate incidents, the crash warning lights flash on when there is no danger of crashing.
I was driving vehicle to work. Going approximately 70 mph, the truck suddenly lost the ability to accelerate and starts running very rough, like it lost a cylinder. Then the collision warning comes on the dash and advanced trac icon and then the manual icon with the wrench that says check manual. I coast down the hill from the far left lane to the slow lane and take the first exit off the freeway and pull to the side of road. Shut the vehicle off, wait 30 seconds, try again starts right up and acts like no problem. Happened three times since. Same thing every time
