DOOR AJAR WARNING IS PRESENT WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES WE CLOSE THE DOOR, THE LIGHT STAYS ON. WE ARE ABLE TO BOTH PARK AND DRIVE WITH THIS ALARM ON BUT THE CABIN LIGHTS STAY ON THE ENTIRE TIME. WE EXPERIENCED THE FIRST ISSUE IN JANUARY 2015 AND THE FORD FULLER DEALERSHIP IN CHULA VISTA, CA REPLACE IT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. JULY 2016, THE SAME WARNING WAS APPEARING ON THE DASH BOARD WITH THE SAME ISSUE. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED IT, AND HAD THE FIRST REPAIR DONE, AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER THEIR FAULTY WORK. THEY STATED THAT SINCE OUR 3 YEAR WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED THE ISSUE WOULD NO LONGER BE COVERED, REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT THEY "FIXED" THE ISSUE WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY GUARANTEE THEIR REPAIRS FOR 2 YEARS. WE ENDED UP...
THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR IS STAYING ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT AND VERIFIED TO BE SHUT ALL THE WAY. THE BELL CHIMES AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON MAKING DRIVING THE VEHICLE AWKWARD AND HAZARDOUS. THE INDICATOR STAYS ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. THIS IS LISTED AS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT YET FORD HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. COST TO REPAIR APPROXIMATELY $400.
MY DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF WHEN I CLOSE THE DOOR. MY CAR DOORS WILL NOT LOCK EVEN MANUALLY WHICH IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. MY BATTERY IS ALSO GOING TO DIE DUE TO THE DOME LIGHT NEVER SHUTTING OFF.

THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THE DEALERSHIP NOTIFIED ME OF THE LOCKING SENSOR/ASSEMBLY BEING FAULTY AND THAT I NEED TO HAVE THIS CHANGED BECAUSE THE BATTERY CAN DRAIN. REPAIRS COST ABOUT $400 SINCE I WAS 3,000 MILES BEYOND OF THE WARRANTY.

THE "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT COMES ON ALL OF THE TIME WHICH DOESN'T ALLOW TO LOCK THE DOOR AND KEEPS THE LIGHTS ON WHICH DRAINS THE BATTERY. I HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR ($500)
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR INDICATION WHEN DOOR IS SECURED CLOSED. WHILE CAR IS IN GEAR THE "DOOR AJAR" INDICATION ALONG WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHTING ILLUMINATING. AT TIMES THE INDICATION DOES NOT COME ON UNTIL THE DOOR AUTO LOCK LOCKS DURING DRIVING. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM BUT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE FORD MANUFACTURER. THE RANDOM FAULTY INDICATION TAKES DRIVER'S FOCUS AND ATTENTION FROM DRIVING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE MARCH 29, 2016. LESS THAN 2 MONTHS LATER THE VEHICLE STARTED RANDOMLY STALLING AND GOING INTO LIMP MODE AND I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE BUSY DC HIGHWAY WITH 2 SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK WHICH WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON BUT IT CUT OFF AFTER A RESTART. AUTO ZONE COULDNT READ THE CODES UNLESS THE CAR WAS MALFUNCTIONING AT THE TIME WHICH HAPPENS RANDOMLY. SINCE THE CAR IS STILL WITHIN THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS P2111 ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THE ADVISOR AGREED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM IN FORD MODELS AND I READ THAT A CONSUMER SAFETY PROGRAM WAS STARTED FOR OTHER FORD MODELS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THE ADVISOR SAID IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND SINCE THERE IS...

THE FAULTY DOOR CLOSED SWITCH AND/OR DESIGN IS INDICATING THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS NOT. THIS ISSUE IS CAUSING ALL THE DOORS TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHILE DRIVING OR UNLOCK DURING DRIVING IF IT GOES OFF. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ADDRESSED BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP TWICE AND NOW IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY THEY DO NOT WANT TO FIX IT. IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.
MY REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS CLOSED AND YET THE DOOR AJAR WARNING STAYS ON THEREFORE MY DOORS DON'T AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHEN IN MOTION. THE DRIVER SIDE LATCH AND DOOR AJAR SENSOR ARE DEFECTIVE. THE CAR DOES NOT PROPERLY REGISTER THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS FORCES THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND SOUND TO REPEATEDLY GO OFF. THIS ALSO KEEPS THE DOME LIGHT ON WHEN SHUTTING THE DOOR THUS KILLING THE BATTERY. ALSO, YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS AND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH KIDS AND WITH ITEMS IN THE CAR BEING STOLEN.

LESS THAN 24 HOURS AFTER I PURCHASED THIS CERTIFIED USED VEHICLE FROM A FORD DEALER, DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR WARNING APPEARS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS FIRMLY LATCHED. ALL DOORS INSTANTLY AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK WHILE DRIVING. DOORS CANNOT BE RE-LOCKED BECAUSE THEY IMMEDIATELY UNLOCK AGAIN. THIS REPRESENTS AN ACCIDENT HAZARD BECAUSE IT ALLOWS OCCUPANTS TO POTENTIALLY BE THROWN FROM THE VEHICLE IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION. THIS CONDITION IS APPARENTLY DUE TO A FAULTY DOOR LATCH SWITCH AND IS WELL DOCUMENTED BY HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET.

WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE, I COMPLETELY LOST POWER. MY CAR WAS DRIVING ON ITS OWN, ABOUT 2MPH ON THE ROAD, WHILE EVERYONE ELSE WAS DRIVING 45MPH. I HAD TO GET MY CAR TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT I HAVE A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. THIS IS SOMETHING I NEVER HEARD OF. BUT TO KNOW THAT AT ANY TIME, MY CAR CAN RANDOMLY STOP ON ITS OWN IS SCARY....

ON Y 2013 FORD EDGE SEL AWD WITH 36,600 MILES THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR STAYS ON, EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED AND LATCHED. THIS CAUSES A NUMBER OF ISSUES: THE DOOR CHIME SOUNDS WHEN CAR STARTS IN MOTION, WHICH IS VERY ANNOYING IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC; DOORS WILL NOT STAY LOCKED, WHICH IS A SAFETY CONCERN; INTERIOR DOME LIGHT STAYS LIT AT NIGHT WHEN FIRST STARTING IN MOTION, WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE. DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON INABILITY TO LOCK DOORS WHEN INSIDE FAULTY LATCH
THE SWITCH THAT CONTROLS THE CIRCUIT THAT DETECTS IF THE DRIVER DOOR IS CLOSED OR NOT IS DEFECTIVE. AN INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE ON THESE VEHICLES. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN THAT THE DOORS WILL UNLOCK (INCLUDING THE REAR DOORS) AUTOMATICALLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. ALSO, DUE TO THE VEHICLE BELIEVING THE DOOR IS OPEN, IT WILL DRAIN THE BATTERY AND LEAVE THE CAR UNABLE TO START AFTER PARKING. THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, OR WHEN MOVING, AND WILL EVEN FAIL WHILE DRIVING EVEN AFTER CLOSING THE DOOR MANY TIMES TO ENSURE THE SWITCH ENDS UP IN THE RIGHT CONDITION. AT TIMES, IT TAKES 30 OR MORE OPEN CLOSE CYCLES FOR THE SWITCH TO OPERATE CORRECTLY, BUT WILL SOMETIMES "OPEN" AGAIN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
DOOR AJAR ON DASH COMES ON AND STAYS ON. LIGHTS COME ON THEN. DOORS DO NOT AUTO LOCK WHEN THIS HAPPENS. GRANDCHILDREN ARE ABLE TO OPEN DOOR WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION
DOOR AJAR WARNING KEEPS COMING ON WHEN THE DOOR IS FULLY SHUT. WHEN IT IS SHOWING, THE CAR IS UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS AS THE CAR IS MOVING AND THE LIGHTS STAY ON MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. NOT HAVING THE DOORS LOCK IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS WE HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN THAT RIDE IN THE CAR. ALSO, IT ALLOWS OTHERS TO OPEN THE DOORS UNEXPECTEDLY. FORD SHOULD STAND UP AND FIX THE SAFETY ISSUE. BEYOND THE SAFETY ISSUE THE BATTERY IS BEING DRAINED AS THE LIGHTS STAY ON AND WE DON'T NOTICE IT UNTIL WE GO TO USE THE CAR AGAIN.

DOES NOT MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU SHUT THE DOOR IT IS STILL SENSING IT IS OPEN. I HAVE TO SHUT THE DOOR MULITPLE TIMES AND USE THE KEY FOB UNTIL THE LIGHTS GO OFF SO THE BATTERY DOES NOT RUN DOWN. YOU CAN SHUT THE DOOR AND FINALLY GET IT TO TURN OFF, THEN START DRIVING AND IT WILL TELL YOU TO SHIFT TO PARK THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR AND THE DOME LIGHTS COME ON. THE ESTIMATE FROM THE DEALER TO REPAIR IS $500.00. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE MY DOOR WILL NOT LOCK WHILE IT IS SHOWING ITS AJAR AND I HAVE CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT THAT COULD OPEN IT, IT IS VERY DISTRACTING, FRUSTRATING AND WHEN IT...

DRIVER DOOR SENSOR DOES NOT REGISTER THAT DOOR IS CLOSED (SAYS DOOR IS AJAR) AND AUTOMATIC LOCKS WILL NOT LOCK AS A RESULT. TOUCH LOCK AND UNLOCK WILL NOT RESPOND UNLESS SENSOR REGISTERS THAT DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED. DOME LIGHTS REMAIN LIT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. ONGOING ISSUE SINCE FEBRUARY 2016.
