TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE PARKED, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT FOR THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR ILLUMINATED WHEN THE DOOR WAS PROPERLY CLOSED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT GOES ON. HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE SAME THING STILL NOT FIXED. THIS WEEKEND SOON AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR I DO NOT REMEMBER THE DATE THEY WILL HAVE IT AT THE MECHANIC I'M SURE OR SOMEWHERE IN MY FILE FOLDERS
WHEN STARTING CAR I GET MESSAGE: DRIVERS DOOR AJAR-THE DOOR IS SECURELY LATCHED, OVERHEAD LIGHTS COME ON AND STAY ON, LOCKS WILL NOT ENGAGE WHEN MESSAGE IS ON. WARNING STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING. MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH OWNERS THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR SWITCH STICKS AND THE VEHICLE COMPUTER THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS CLOSED.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR REMAINS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. WHEN DRIVING, FRONT INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK FROM INSIDE.
DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR WARNING KEEPS COMING ON. IT WOULD GO AWAY AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS, OR SOME CLEANER SPRAYED INTO THE LOCKING MECHANISM AREA. BUT NOW, IT'S WARNING AT ALL TIMES. DOME LIGHTS STAY ON, WARNING CHIMES WHEN THE CAR ISN'T MOVING QUICKLY, AND CAR DOORS WON'T LOCK B/C IT THINKS THE DOOR IS AJAR. I THINK THAT AND HAVING LIGHTS ON WHEN YOU'RE REVERSING AT NIGHT ARE THE TWO BIGGEST SAFETY ISSUES. THE OTHER ISSUES ARE JUST ANNOYING AND LIKELY WEARING OUT BATTERY POWER WITH THE LIGHTS STAYING ON. I'VE READ THAT SOME OTHER FORD AND LINCOLN MODELS HAVE HAD RECALLS ON THIS LOCKING MECHANISM SO HOPING THAT THE EDGE GETS THE SAME TREATMENT. SEEMS LIKE A SILLY ISSUE FOR A 2013 CAR WITH 37K MILES ON IT.
DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON CONSTANTLY. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND THIS ENDANGERS THE SAFETY OF THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE WARNING BELL RINGS WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. ALSO, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON WHICH IS A MAJOR CONCERN FOR NIGHT DRIVING.
WHEN I SHUT DRIVER DOOR WITH ENGINE ON THE DOOR ADJAR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS SHUT. TURN CAR OFF AND EXIT AND SHUT DRIVERS DOOR INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND EVENTUALLY RUN BATTERY DOWN.DEALER SAYS THE CONTACTS IN DOOR LATCH SWITCH NEED TO BE CLEANED. FIX LASTS ONLY ABOUT 2 WEEKS. BROUGHT BACK UNDER WARRANTY 3 TIMES. DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE PART ONLY CLEAN. MY WARRANTY RUNS OUT IN ONE MONTH.
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON WHEN THE DOOR IS SECURELY SHUT. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN LIT AND DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. SOMETIMES IT WILL GO OFF AFTER REPEATEDLY SLAMMING THE DOOR SHUT BUT NOT ALWAYS. I FEEL THIS IS A DANGER BECAUSE OF DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH THE LIGHT ON. I ALSO HAVE CHILDREN IN THE CAR THAT COULD POSSIBLY OPEN THE DOOR WHILE THE CAR IS GOING.
I JUST PURCHASED MY FORD EDGE 2 WEEKS AGO AND THE REAR LEFT DOOR AJAR LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON WHEN THE DOOR IS NOT OPEN. I HAVE STOPPED THE CAR, OPEN AND CLOSED THE DOOR BUT THE LIGHT WILL STILL STAY ON. WHEN WE LOCK THE DOORS AT NIGHT, THE ALARM WILL GO OFF SEVERAL TIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. WORRIED IF THE DOORS ARE EVEN LOCKING AT THIS POINT. I CALLED A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS JUST A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN AND NOT A RECALL.

THE FAILURE INDICATED THAT THE DOOR WAS STILL OPEN AND CAUSED THE DOME LIGHT TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OFTHE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILIABLE.
AFTER ABOUT 40,000 MILES, MY CAR STARTED ALERTING ME THAT MY DRIVERS DOOR WAS AJAR WHEN CLEARLY IT WAS CLOSED. I CLOSED IT AGAIN AND AGAIN, BUT THE ALERT STILL WON'T GO OFF. THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS STAY ON AND THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK AFTER MOVING FORWARD DOWN THE ROAD. THIS CAN BE A REAL SAFETY ISSUE! I'M AFRAID SOMEONE MIGHT CARJACK ME WITH MY DOORS NOT LOCKING! ALSO, AS I STOP AT STOP SIGNS OR STOP LIGHTS, IT CONTINUALLY ALERTS ME TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND SHUT DRIVERS DOOR. WHEN I DO PARK, GET OUT AND LOCK MY CAR, THE DOME LIGHTS AGAIN WILL NOT GO OFF. I'M AFRAID I'LL COME OUT AFTER WORK TO A DEAD BATTERY! PLEASE DO SOMETHING! IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE OCTOBER 2015!
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAY ILLUMINATED IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND DOME LIGHTS WON'T SHUT OFF. HAD HAD IT TO DEALER 2 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR AND PROBLEM WOULD BE RESOLVED FOR 2 MONTHS AND THEN WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN.
THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR ALARM WILL NOT GO OFF EVEN AFTER REPEATED CLOSING THE DOOR. IT PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM BEING LOCKED AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND DRAINS THE BATTERY.

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GIVES AN INCORRECT WARNING THAT THE DRIVERS DOOR IS AJAR. THE DRIVERS DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED BUT THE WARNING STAYS ON. THE DOORS ARE UNABLE TO BE LOCKED WHICH IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. THE OVERHEAD DOME LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND DO NOT SHUT OFF AS LONG AS THIS FALSE WARNING SIGNAL IS ON WHICH IS AGAIN A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. AFTER SHIFTING TO DRIVE, THE ALARMS SOUND AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAYS "SHIFT TO PARK" WHICH AGAIN IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS IT IS VERY DISTRACTING WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. SINCE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FORD SHOULD RECALL THIS VEHICLE TO REPAIR THIS ELECTRICAL FAILURE.

DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR SENSOR BECAME FAULTY WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. DOOR REQUIRES MULTIPLE CLOSINGS IN ORDER FOR THE SENSOR TO IDENTIFY THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED. IT IS AN ONGOING ISSUE SINCE 10/8/15.
DOOR AJAR SWITCH IS FAILING, WON'T SHUT OFF. INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND DRAINING THE BATTERY.

THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE NOT TO BE SECURED PROPERLY DURING OPERATION AND CAUSES FAULTY ANNOYING ALERTS TO SOUND INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. IT ALSO CAUSES INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS TO STAY ON CAUSING A DANGEROUS OBSTRUCTION TO VISION WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. WHEN PARKED WITH THE ENGINE OFF, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL STAY ON AND DRAIN THE BATTERY.

MY 2013 FORD EDGE DOOR LATCH INCORRECTLY REPORTS THAT THE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS NOT. THIS TURNS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON AND DRAINS THE BATTERY, ALSO WILL NOT LET YOU TURN ON THE ALARM OR LOCK THE DOORS FROM THE INSIDE. CONSTANTLY CHIMES AND TELL YOU TO PUT IN PARK TO SHUT DOOR.

"TAKATA RECALL" DRIVER SIDE DOOR ADJAR SENSOR REMAINS ON ALL THE TIME EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS CLOSED SECURELY. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE NOT BE SECURED PROPERLY AND CAUSES ALERTS TO SOUND WHILE DRIVING.

I'M LUCKY IF AFTER THE 6-7TH DOOR SLAM THE LIGHT MAY GO OUT, OTHERWISE I HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND WITH THE ALARM CONTINUOUSLY ON. NOW A SHIFT INTO PARK LIGHT IS ALSO COMING ON. USED TO LOVE MY EDGE, BUT SLOWLY THINKING DIVORCE.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR SWITCH IS MALFUNCTIONING AND CANNOT SENSE WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK PROPERLY OR AUTOMATICALLY BECAUSE SWITCH IS MALFUNCTIONING. THIS IS OCCURRING BOTH WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED AND IN MOTION. SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL COME ON RANDOMLY. AS I OFTEN HAVE A CHILD IN THE CAR, I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE INABILITY FOR THE CAR TO DETECT WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED AND WHEN IT IS NOT AND THE RELATED LOCKING OF THE DOORS.
WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GIVES A FALSE WARNING SAYING THE DOOR IS AJAR AND THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR THE WARNING DISAPPEARS, BUT THEN WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING THE WARNING RETURNS AND THE DOME LIGHT COMES BACK ON AND THE DOORS UNLOCK. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM AND MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS 48,000 MILES ON IT. THIS WARNING ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 1 MONTH.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES AT VARIOUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO COME ON AND REMAIN ON. THIS MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AT NIGHT. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY RELATED ISSUE AND FORD SHOULD FIX IT THROUGH A RECALL.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT AND ALARM GO OFF EVEN WHEN DOOR IS SECURELY SHUT. CAR IS CURRENTLY UNDER 36,000 MILES BUT JUST A FEW WEEKS OVER THE 3 YEAR MARK. DIEHL FORD IN BELLINGHAM, WA WILL NOT ATTEMPT TO HONOR THE WARRANTY.

UPON STARTING THE ENGINE, WE HAVE HAD SPORADIC DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR INDICATIONS WITH DASH ALARM & INTERIOR LIGHTING AFFECTED. THIS HAS PLAGUED US FROM 2500 MILES TO THE PRESENT (FEBRUARY 2016 @ 36,000 MILES). FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE OF VEHICLE ON APRIL 1, 2013. SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE DEALER W/DOOR ADJUSTMENTS & "BURNING OF THE CONTACTS" HAS NOT SOLVED THE INTERMITTENT PROBLEM THAT COMES BACK SOMETIMES FOR SEVERAL DAYS AT A TIME. WE ALWAYS CHECK THE DOOR TO MAKE SURE THAT IT IS SHUT & CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR W/WARNING AND INTERIOR LIGHTS ON. AT NIGHT THIS ISSUE CREATES AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION. I FEEL THIS IS A RECALL ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY NATURE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER HAS BEEN VERY ELUSIVE, NOT SUPPLYING PAPERWORK CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. MAYBE FORD IS PLAYING DODGE BALL ON THIS, BUT THEY ARE ONLY MAKING ENEMIES OF THEIR CUSTOMERS.
CENTER DASH DISPLAY -- SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE DEALER WITH ADJUSTMENT TO THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER HAS NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERS SAYS THAT THE GEAR SHIFT PARKING CONTACT IS NOT SIGNALING THE DASH DISPLAY. IF THE CAR IS LEFT FOR SEVERAL DAYS, THE DISPLAY PROBLEM CREATES A DEAD BATTERY. THIS CONDITION EXISTS WHEN THE IGNITION IS OFF, KEYS ARE REMOVED, ALL DOORS ARE SHUT AND THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK. THIS ISSUE HAS EXISTED FROM 2014 THROUGH FEB. 2, 2016 AND IS ONGOING.
THE "DOOR ADJAR" LIGHT AND WARNING SOUNDS COME ON OUR FORD EDGE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED AND IT TELLS US TO SHIFT THE GEAR SHIFTER INTO PARK. NONE OF THE DOORS ARE OPEN. THIS HAS BECOME A PROBLEM EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS USED.

IF THE CAR IS PARKED IT IS CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DRAIN. THIS ISSUE BEGAN A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO INTERMITTENTLY BUT IS NOW CONSTANTRY HAPPENING.
DOOR AJAR NOTIFICATION STAYS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED, DRIVERS DOOR. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO OPERATE AT NIGHT.
WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED, VEHICLE STARTED TO SPUTTER AND LOST POWER, LOST ALL FUNCTION AND HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ENGINE SPUTTERED BADLY, WITH THE WRENCH LIGHT ON. TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND RAN SMOOTHLY AGAIN. IT HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES.

IN ADDITION, THE INTERIOR LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 15 MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW DOOR LATCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000.
THE DOOR SENSORS ARE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY AND THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR STAYS ON AND THE INSIDE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN IT IS DARK OUTSIDE.
THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR INDICATOR CONTINUALLY SAYS DOOR IS AJAR WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND PARKED. I HAVE TO SLAM THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO RECOGNIZE THE DOOR IS IN FACT CLOSED. I HAD THIS ISSUE ABOUT A YEAR AGO, TOOK IT TO DEALER WHO TOOK THE DOOR APART AND CLEANED IT. THIS SEEMED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE FOR A WHILE, BUT IT'S BACK AGAIN AND INCREASING IN FREQUENCY. I SEE MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A POPULAR ISSUE. WOULD LIKE FORD TO RECOGNIZE AND ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS SENSOR.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR SENSOR DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. IT INDICATES THE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS NOT. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN THIS HAPPENS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,967.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR WILL NOT TURN OFF. LIGHTS KEEP GOING ON WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN FRONT DOOR LATCHING MECHANISM FAILED TO PROPERLY REGISTER THAT THE VEHICLE DOOR WAS CLOSED. AS A RESULT, AN INTERNAL WARNING MESSAGE INFORMING THE CONTACT TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND CLOSE THE DOOR DISPLAYED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WARNING MESSAGE CHIMED UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED INTO THE PARK POSITION. THE CONTACT FURTHER STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND TURNED OFF, THE INTERIOR LIGHT FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY AND SHUT OFF CAUSING THE BATTERY TO BE DRAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
