Battery keeps dying.
We believe the battery is being drained by the CAN system because it is only 2 years old and is already completely dead leaving my vehicle inoperable and creating a potentially dangerous situation
In March of 2020, I took the car into the dealership due to the multiple times I had to charge the car, their answer was I wasn’t driving the car enough. They charged the battery and told me I needed to drive the car at least 20 minutes every couple of days at 50mph+ in order to keep the battery charged. In August of 2020 I had just loaded up the car to go on a vacation and when I went to leave the house the car would not start. After charging the battery for 30 minutes in the garage it then started. Fast forward to June of 2021, I have had to charge the battery 4 more times in order for it to start. The last time was when we were leaving a campground in May, 2021, and the car wouldn’t start due to the battery. Fortunately the campground...
On numerous occasions (probably 12-18 times) over the last 18 months our new Ascent will not start because of a dead battery. I have discussed this numerous times with the dealer, they have even performed tests on it but claim that it passes all tests so there is nothing they can do. No doors are being left open or lights on, yet every few weeks this problem occurs. My wife cannot take the car to the store without worrying about it not starting properly and having to get a jump from someone.
We have had two batteries die since purchasing the car new in 2018. I saw an article about electric system failure in the ascent and it said to file a complaint.
THE SUBARU ASCENT WILL RUN DOWN ITS BATTERY REQUIRING A JUMP START APPROXIMATELY ONCE EVERY SIX MONTHS. WHILE LONG ROAD-TRIPS CAN TOP OFF THE CHARGE, THIS PERPETUAL DRAIN ON THE BATTERY IS SHORTENING ITS LIFE EXPECTANCY.
THE BATTERY IN MY 2019 SUBARU ASCENT DIED TWICE WHILE PARKED IN MY GARAGE AND WE HAD TO CALL AAA TO JUMP START THE CAR. AFTER THE SECOND TIME I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME TO LOCK THE CAR EVEN WHEN ITS IN THE GARAGE SO THAT THE SECURITY SYSTEM WOULD STOP EXCESSIVE BATTERY USE. IVE READ THAT OTHER SUBARU OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THIS ISSUE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I EXPECT I WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE BATTERY AND NEXT TIME THE VEHICLE MAY BE OUT OF WARRANTY AND I WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF.
I BOUGHT MY 2019 ASCENT BRAND NEW IN SUMMER OF 2018. I WAS DRIVING YESTERDAY AND HAD MY 3 YR OLD SON WITH ME. WE STOPPED TO GET ICE CREAM AND SAT IN CAR TO EAT IT. I TURNED CAR ON ENOUGH TO PUT WINDOWS DOWN (NO MORE THAN 3-4 MINUTES AT MOST) AND TURNED OFF. WHEN I WENT TO START CAR WHEN FINISHED ICE CREAM ABOUT 10 MIN LATER MY CAR WOULDN'T START AND COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. COULDN'T EVEN PUT IN NEUTRAL OR TURN THE WHEEL. I CALLED AAA AND THE CAME AND TOLD MY MY BATTERY HEALTH WAS ONLY 30% AND HAD A ZERO CHARGE. HE CHANGED THE BATTERY FOR ME AND WE WERE ON OUR WAY BUT WE WERE LUCKY TO BE IN AN AREA WITH HELP. NOT ALWAYS THE CASE FOR PHONE RECEPTION IN SOME AREAS. THIS CAR IS NOT EVEN 3 YRS OLD. HAD IT...
MY CAR STARTED TO HAVE BATTERY ISSUES EITHER LAST YEAR OR EARLY THIS YEAR. THE BATTERY ISSUES ARE GETTING WORSE. AT THE VERY BEGINNING, THE BATTERY DIED AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS NOT DRIVING; WHICH WAS SHOCKING BECAUSE IT IS A FAIRLY NEW CAR. TODAY THE BATTERY DIED JUST OVERNIGHT; I WAS DRIVING TO WORK YESTERDAY AND WE WERE ABOUT TO DRIVE TO HERSHEY PARK TODAY:( THERE ALREADY HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TIMES OF ROADSIDE SERVICE FOR THE JUMP START WHEN THE MILLAGE WAS LESS THAN 20000. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE BATTERY DRAINS DUE TO THE ELECTRONIC DESIGN. HE SUGGESTED I DRIVE THE CAR EVERYDAY JUST TO CHARGE THE BATTERY. REALLY!?
BATTERY DRAINED OVERNIGHT WITH NO LIGHTS OR ACCESSORIES ON. THIS IS THE FORTH TIME THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED.
THE BATTERY IN OUR CAR WAS DEAD AFTER ACCIDENTALLY LEAVING THE TAILGATE DOOR OPEN FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS. WE DIDN'T THINK THAT WAS ENOUGH TO DO IT BUT JUM STARTED IT AND IT WAS OK FOR A DAY BUT THEN WOULDN'T START REGULARLY WITHOUT LEAVING ANY DOORS OPEN. WE TOOK IT INTO SUBARU AND ULTIMATELY HAD THE BATTER CHANGED EVEN THOUGH THEY TOLD US IT WASN'T THE BATTERY. THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN TODAY WHEN WE WENT TO USE IT. WE MAYBE LEFT THE TAILGATE OPEN FOR 30 MINUTES A FEW DAYS AGO UNLOADING GROCERIES. THAT SEEMS A LITTLE EXTREME. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN OUR DRIVEWAY BUT IT HAPPENED AT A PARKING GARAGE BEFORE TOO LEAVING ME TO NEED TO GET A RIDE.
CAME OUT TO THE CAR AND FOUND A COMPLETELY DEAD BATTERY AFTER IT HAVING NO WARNING OF A LOW BATTERY. CAR WAS DRIVEN YESTERDAY.
REPEATED (MANY TIMES) FAILURE OF BATTERY. STATIONERY. POTENTIAL FOR BEING LEFT WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION IN AN ISOLATED AREA.
I ALREADY REPLACED THE BATTERY IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS AND LESS THAN 25000 MILES.I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE BATTERY LEVEL IS LESS THAN 12V WHEN I DON'T USE THE CAR FOR AROUND 5 DAYS. TO PREVENT THE BATTERY DRAIN I'VE BEEN CHARGING IT EVERY WEEK OR LESS. I HAVE ALSO AVOIDED USING THE TRUNK BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO DRAIN THE BATTERY FASTER. PARKING THE CAR FOR A DAY AND USING THE TRUNK SEVERAL TIMES DOES BRING THE BATTERY LEVEL TO LESS THAN 12V.
EVEN THOUGH I DRIVE MY 2019 ASCENT REGULARLY, I HAD TO JUMP START MY BATTERY TWICE LAST YEAR WITHIN A SPACE OF 1 MONTH. THE DEALER TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG. ON MARCH 28, 2021, HAVING DRIVEN 500 MILES FROM MY HOME IN CA TO SCOTTSDALE AZ, MY BATTERY COMPLETELY DIED AND AAA TOLD ME HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH SUBARU BATTERIES & I HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW ONE AT A COST OF $207. MY SUV BOUGHT IN JULY 2019 HAS A LITTLE OVER 8,000 MILES AND WHEN I CONTACTED SUBARU, THEY BASICALLY BLAMED VARIOUS THINGS AND SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO A DEALER.
THE CAR BATTERY KEEPS DYING. THE FIRST BATTERY DIED A LITTLE AFTER A YEAR. THE SECOND CAR BATTERY DIED TWO MONTHS AND FEW DAYS LATER. I DRIVE THE CAR A FEW TIMES A WEEK. I'VE NEVER HAD A DIFFERENT CAR DIE UNDER THE SAME DRIVING CONDITIONS. WHEN I JUMP START THE CAR AFTER THE BATTERY DIES, THE ELECTRONICS IN THE CAR DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. WHEN I QUICKLY STEER THE STEERING WHEEL, EYESIGHT, POWER STEERING, AND OTHER VARIOUS ELECTRONICS RAPIDLY TURN ON AND OFF. THIS SEEMS TO INDICATE THAT THE BATTERY CANNOT BE CHARGED, AND SUFFICIENTLY POWER THE VEHICLE, WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND CAUSES UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. AFTER RECEIVING THE NEW BATTERY, THESE ISSUES WERE MITIGATED UNTIL THE NEW BATTERY DIED TWO MONTHS LATER AND THE SAME BEHAVIOR IS HAPPENING AGAIN. THE FIRST TIME I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS ISSUE, THEY SAID THE BATTERY WAS FAULTY...
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS SOME SORT OF RESIDUAL POWER DRAW WHEN PARKED THAT COMPLETELY DRAINS THE BATTERY. EVEN WHEN CAR IS DRIVEN THE DAY BEFORE, AFTER BEING PARKED OVERNIGHT HAS RESULTED IN A DEAD BATTERY 8-10 TIMES. NO LIGHTS LEFT ON OR DOORS OPEN (EVEN REAR LIFT GATE IS CLOSED PROPERLY)
MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. NOW ON SECOND BATTERY. VEHICLE IN DRIVEWAY, TAILGATE OPENED FOR 30-45 MINUTES AND BATTERY DIED. VEHICLE IN DRIVEWAY WITH RADIO ON FOR 1 HOUR, BATTERY DIED. VEHICLE IN DRIVEWAY, NOT DRIVEN FOR 12 DAYS AND BATTERY DIED. EACH TIME BATTERY DIED, UNABLE TO EASILY JUMPSTART. EACH TIME BATTERY DIED, TAILGATE UNABLE TO OPEN EVEN MANUALLY.
BATTERY DRAINED RAPIDLY WHILE LISTENING TO THE RADIO FOR 15 MINUTES WITH CAR ENGINE NOT RUNNING (STATIONARY). CAR NEEDED TO BE JUMPED.
THE BATTERY FAILS AND CANNOT BE RECHARGED, IT DRAINS IMMEDIATELY. ALSO THE AIRBAGS NO LONGER WORK. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR JUMP STARTED BY. A TOW TRUCK AND THEN CHARGED THE BATTERY AT HOME WITH OUR OWN CHARGER AND IT STILL DIES IMMEDIATELY.
PREMATURE BATTERY DRAIN. IVE REPLACED THE BATTERY IN MY ASCENT 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 YEARS I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE. FIRST INSTANCE OCCURED WHEN TALIGATE HADNT CLOSED ALL THE WAY AND DRIANED BATTERY. SECOND INSTANCE CAR DOORS WERE OPEN FOR APPROX 2 HOURS TO CLEAN AND DETAIL MY CAR WHEN BATTERY DIED. THIRD INSTANCE WAS LISTENING TO MUSIC IN THE CAR FOR 40 MIN WHILE WAITING FOR HUSBAND TO GO TO STORE AND I WAITED IN THE CAR AND BATTER DIED YET AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU ASCENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IDLE THE BATTERY WOULD DRAIN WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE JUMP STARTED OR THE BATTERY REPLACED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WALKER'S RENTON SUBARU (555 SW GRADY WAY, RENTON, WA 98057, (425) 226-2775) WHO WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,300.
MY BATTERY HAS DRAINED TWICE IN 2 MONTHS, TO THE EXTENT THAT IT NEEDED TO BE JUMPSTARTED. TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE NOTHING ELECTRICAL WAS ON. THE CAR WAS PARKED. BOTH TIMES REQUIRED SEEKING EXTERNAL HELP TO DRIVE AWAY. WHEN IT FIRST OCCURRED, I HAD THE BATTERY CHECKED BY MY DEALER AND THEY FOUND NO ISSUES WITH THE BATTERY. TO PREPARE FOR ANOTHER DEAD BATTERY, I PURCHASED JUMPER CABLES SO I WOULDN'T BE STRANDED.THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED IT WAS AT 12,000 MI; SECOND TIME AT 23,000 MI.
BATTERY DEAD EVEN THOUGH CAR HAS BEEN IN GARAGE AND DRIVEN AT LEAST 2-3X A WEEK. HAPPENED A FEW TIMES SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED IN OCT 2020, AND THEN SUBSEQUENTLY MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE WE NEED IT TO BE JUMPED START. EVENTUALLY TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY IN MAR 2021.
MY BARELY 2-YEAR CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. IT REFUSED TO START FOR THE 4TH OR 5TH TIME OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS... TWICE IN THE PAST WEEK. ONE, PARTICULAR INSTANCE FROM THIS PAST WEEK, I DROVE ABOUT A MILE TO MY LOCAL LIBRARY TO DO CURBSIDE PICKUP. I TURNED OFF MY CAR WHILE I WAITED 2 MINUTES FORTHE LIBRARIANS TO DELIVER MY BOOKS. I HAD MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR. MY CAR WOULD NOT START BACK UP. I DIDN'T SEE THIS AS A PROBLEM AS A FEW MONTHS AGO I PURCHASED A PORTABLE JUMP STARTER BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN HAVING SO MANY ISSUES WITH MY FAIRLY NEW CAR. WELL, I COULDN'T ACCESS MY JUMPER BECAUSE IT WAS IN MY TRUNK WHICH CAN ONLY BE OPENED WHEN THE CAR HAS POWER. IT, OF COURSE, WAS RAINING, SLEETING AND SNOWING WHILE ALL THIS WAS HAPPENING AND MY CHILDREN...
I HAVE HAD MANY MANY TIMES THAT THE BATTERY ON MY NEW CAR HAS DIED IF IT HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN DAILY. I HAD THE SHOP TEST THE BATTERY THE LAST TIME IT WAS IN AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. THE CAR BATTERY HAS DIED AT LEAST 5 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN JULY 2019. I HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING THIS ISSUE. MY CAR HAS DIED AGAIN THIS WEEK. I AM WORKING FROM HOME AND WITH THE MASSIVE SNOW, I DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR FOR A FEW DAYS AND NOW IT IS DEAD.
I HAVE REQUIRED 6 JUMPSTARTS IN THE LAST 7 MONTHS. THE VEHICLE IS TWO YEARS OLD.
SEVERAL TIMES OUR 2019 SUBARU ASCENT BATTERY HAS DRAINED DOWN TO LOW LEVELS REQUIRING JUMP STARTS. THIS LAST TIME WAS THIS WINTER AND -15 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND WAS VERY DANGEROUS FOR HER. THE ALTERNATOR DOES NOT SEEM ABLE TO KEEP UP WITH THE LOAD. I HAVE HEARD OF MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. IT SAT OVERNIGHT ON BOTH OCCASIONS.
MY CAR IS 1.5 YEARS OLD AND THE BATTERY DIED IN ME AND LEFT ME STRANDED. CAR STARTED AFTER BEING JUMPED. I USED MY TRICKLE CHARGER AND IT IS TELLING ME THAT BATTERY IS BAD. CAR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS ACTING STRANGE AND NOT TURNING OFF ALL SYSTEMS WHEN CAR WAS TURNED OFF. THIS PROBABLY DRAINED BATTERY.
BATTERY IS DEAD FREQUENTLY (1-2 TIMES PER WEEK). THIS OCCURS AFTER LEAVING ONE OR MORE DOORS OPEN (THUS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED) FOR ONLY 5-10 MINUTES. WE ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING TO JUMP START THE CAR USING A PORTABLE LITHIUM ION BATTERY THAT WE PURCHASED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR OVER A YEAR.

UNABLE TO START MY SUBARU ASCENT 2019 DUE TO BATTERY ISSUE, FACING THIS ISSUE 2ND TIME. I WAS ABLE TO START MY VEHICLE 3 DAYS AGO AND VEHICLE STATIONARY FOR 3 DAYS IN GARAGE AND TRY TO START TODAY IT DID NOT START START AGAIN IT MAKES LITTLE BIT CRANK SOUND AND THEN NO RESPONSE FROM ENGINE AND HALTED AND MY DASHBOARD DISPLAYED EVERYTHING, TRYED MULTIPLE TIMES NO LUCK FOR ME.
VEHICLE WILL NOT START BECAUSE BATTERY IS DEAD AND REQUIRES A JUMP. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IT HAS OCCURRED. WE HAVE HAD TO CALL STARLINK TO COME AND JUMP THE BATTERY WHICH RESOLVED THE ISSUE ON 1/25/21, 12/29/20 AND 6/20/20. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN MAY 2020. IT IS KEPT IN A GARAGE WHEN NOT IN USE.
55 DEGREE SUNNY DAY IN RURAL VIRGINIA. 2019 SUBARU ASCENT HAS 8214 MILES. DROVE ASCENT ABOUT 4 MILES. STOPPED TO RUN QUICK ERRAND. TWO MINUTES LATER CAR WOULD NOT START. DASH LIGHTS ON, INCLUDING CHECK ENGINE, BATTERY. POWER WINDOWS AND REAR HATCH STILL WORKED. CALLED DEALER-FOLLOWED THEIR INSTRUCTIONS TO TRY STARTING CAR IN PARK, NEUTRAL, ETC. THEY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE A BATTERY PROBLEM, ADVISED ME TO CALL SUBARU ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. SPOUSE CAME WITH BATTERY CHARGER. CHARGED BATTERY FOR A FEW MINUTES AND CAR STARTED. CHARGED BATTERY OVERNIGHT. SEARCHED ONLINE FOR SUBARU BATTERY PROBLEMS. READ THAT A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT WAS FILED AGAINST SUBARU OF AMERICA IN 2020 RELATING TO OUTBACK AND ASCENT BATTERY ISSUES. THESE MODELS ARE REPORTEDLY EQUIPPED WITH BATTERIES THAT DRAIN AND DIE. LAWSUIT CONTENDS THAT SUBARU HAS KNOWN ABOUT THESE BATTERY PROBLEMS SINCE 2017, AND HAS ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT BATTERY DISCHARGING AND DYING AFTER...
VEHICLE STARTED OFF WITH THE RADIO NOT SAVING CHANNELS. IT WOULD RESET THE RADIO EVERY FEW DAYS. A MESSAGE WOULD COME ON THE DASHBOARD WHICH WOULD SAY THE CAR WILL BE RESTARTED IN A FEW HOURS. AND A LIGHT NOT WORKING. TOOK IN AND THEY SAID IT WAS BATTERY. REPLACED. THEN GOT BACK. WITHIN WEEK OR SO. CAR HAD ALL LIGHTS COMING ON AND OFF ON DASHBOARD. STARTED JUMPING. EVEN DROVE BACKWARDS WHEN PUT IN DRIVE. TOOK IN AND THEY REPLACED TRANSMISSION. WITHIN THE WEEK AFTER GETTING BACK, THE CAR WAS SKIPPING GEARS. ANOTHER TRANSMISSION. THEN BACK IN FOR RADIO NOT SHUTTING OFF WHEN CAR OFF AND LOCKED. WOULD RUN FOR HOURS. ALSO THE TRUNK DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK. TOOK AND THEY SAID IT WAS A SWITCH. RADIO AGAIN STILL RESETTING. RADIO WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF AND THEN TURN BACK ON. THE REAR TRUNK WILL LOCK AND THEN NOT UNLOCK....
AT 2 YEARS AND 5 MONTHS OLD (55K MILES, MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVEN) THE BATTERY DIES AND I WAS STRANDED WHEN I HAD STOPPED AND PARKED. WOULD NOT START ANYMORE. HAD TO JUMP START CAR AND DRIVE TO DEALERSHIP. SUBARU DEALERSHIP (GILLMAN SUBARU SOUTHWEST, HOUSTON, TX) DID A LOAD TEST AND DETERMINED BATTERY IS DEAD. WOULD NOT REPLACE BATTERY. WANTED TO CHARGE $500 TO REPLACE BATTERY!! WENT TO AUTO ZONE AND HAD IT REPLACED AND INSTALLED FOR UNDER $200!
ON 24TH DECEMBER VEHICLE IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY WHINING NOISE OBSERVED AND TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES, RPM INCREASED. IN A FEW SECONDS TRANSMISSION ERROR MESSAGE FLASHED IN CONSOLE, IN ADDITION CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND ALL DRIVER AIDS DISABLED, STRUGGLED TO TAKE CONTROL AND PULL OFF HIGHWAY SAFELY. VEHICLE 20 MONTHS OLD LESS THAN 20,000 MILES. SECOND INSTANCE OF TRANSMISSION FAILING AFTER WUV07 RECALL COMPLETED IN JANUARY 2020. !ST INSTANCE OF TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN CITY STREETS @35MPH SIMILAR BEHAVIOR TRANSMISSION LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND DRIVERS AIDS DISABLED, INCORRECTLY DIAGNOSED BY MASTER TECHNICIAN AS VALVE BODY FAILURE AFTER THE WUV07 RECALL THE FUEL EFFICIENCY ALSO DROPPED. A COUPLE OF DAYS PRIOR TO 24TH DECEMBER CONTACTED SUBARU OF AMERICA ABOUT A SHUDDER NOTICED OBSERVED WHILE DRIVING. ENCLOSED IMAGE HAS REPAIRS RELATED TO TRANSMISSION, IN ADDITION DURING THE 2ND REPAIR THE STARTER ALSO FAILED AND STARTER WAS ALSO REPLACED. IN CONCLUSION TWO...
WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK APPROXIMATELY 09:10 PM(25901 RIVERWOODS RD, METTAWA, IL 60045) NO ONE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED IN AUTOMOBILE FIRE I-94 1 MILE SOUTH OF ROUTE 176(EXIT 16(/ROCKLAND ROAD). AFTER NO MORE THAN A MINUTE ON THE INTERSTATE, I NOTICED SOME SMOKE AND PULLED IMMEDIATELY OFF TO SIDE OF ROAD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (AROUND 1.5-2.0 MILES FROM WORK) AND AROUND 5 MIN INTO DRIVE FROM DEPARTURE FROM ADDRESS LISTED ABOVE. WAS FORTUNATE THAT OFFICER M ZAWIEROWSKI WAS DRIVING BY AND ABLE TO ASSIST AND CALLED FIRE DEPARTMENT. WHEN OFFICER STATED WENT BACK TO CAR NOTICED THAT CAR LOCKED UP ALL DOORS AND STATED HOW FORTUNATE YOU (WIFE) WERE ABLE TO ESCAPE. THE ONLY WARNING WAS SMELL AND SMOKE, MINUTE LATER CAR WAS BURNING AND WITHIN SHORT TIME HEAT AND SMOKE WAS SEVERE THAT STATE POLICE CALLED FIRE DEPARTMENT
CAR JUST DOESNT START AND NEEDS TO BE JUMPED RANDOMLY, YET DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT COULD FIND NO PROBELMS. ALSO WIERD LAGS, NOISES OCCURING WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAR IS TOO NEW AND HAS 18,000 MILES ON IT, SHOULDNT BE HAVING THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS. HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE PURCHASE 2019 AND 2020, MOST RECENT JAN 2021 BROUGHT INTO DEALERSHIP SERVICE LARRY MILLER SUBARU BOSIE ID.
BATTERY HAS DIED AT LEAST 3-4 TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR. ALSO ONGOING ISSUES WITH THE RADIO- RADIO HAS STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY BEFORE TWO INSTANCES WHEN THE RADIO DIED. AMPLIFIER HAS BEEN CHANGED IN CAR AND SERVICED MULTIPLE TIMES. ONCE WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING IT AND STEERING LOCKED.
MY BATTERY DRAINS SURPRISINGLY QUICKLY FROM SIMPLE ACTIVITIES LIKE USING THE REAR HATCH DOOR A FEW TIMES BETWEEN STARTS, HAVING THE FRONT LIGHTS ON FOR AS LITTLE AS 15 MINUTES BETWEEN STARTS, AND HAVING THE DOME LIGHTS ON FOR AS LITTLE AS 1 HOUR BETWEEN STARTS. THIS HAS LEFT ME STRANDED MULTIPLE TIMES INCLUDING AT A FOREST CAMPGROUND WITHOUT CELL COVERAGE. I HAVE USED AAA ASSIST MULTIPLE TIMES, AND THE HELP OF STRANGERS. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO PURCHASE A JUMP START BATTERY TO KEEP IN MY CAR. I HAVE ASKED SUBARU TO FIX THE PROBLEM, AND BEEN TOLD SIMPLY THAT MY BATTERY AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ARE WORKING NORMALLY.
THE BATTERY DOES NOT STAY CHARGED NOR CAN I GET IT TO CHARGE ABOVE 80%. I STORE HER IN A GARAGE. IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS, THE BATTERY HAS BEEN DEAD (AND REQUIRED A JUMP) 3 TIMES IN 2 WEEKS. I GET UP AND GO INTO THE GARAGE TO START THE VEHICLE AND THE BATTERY IS JUST DEAD. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO TEST THE BATTERY AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. MY CONCLUSION IS THAT IT MUST BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.
HAS A DEFECTIVE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DRAIN PREMATURELY. JUST HAD THE NEW SUBARU BATTERY TESTED AND CHARGED AT ADVANCE AUTO PARTS AND IT WAS BROUGHT UP TO ALMOST A FULL CHARGE. AFTER 4 DAYS OF SHORT TRIPS, BATTERY IS DEAD AGAIN.
DEAD BATTERY MULTIPLE TIMES, DEALER SHIP HAS REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT CONTINUES TO HAVE ISSUES AND LEFT STRANDED EACH TIME THIS OCCURS, ONE TIME ON 12-17-2020 IN THE MOUNTAINS IN FREEZING COLD WEATHER WITH A CHILD, NO HEAT BECAUSE OF DEAD BATTERY. THIS ISSUE CANN OCCURING WHEN THE BACK TAILGATE IS OPEN FOR 10 MINUTES. SUBARU IS NOT GOING TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM EVEN THOU THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS OCCURING ON SUBARU OUTBACKS AND THE ASCENT MODELS. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN SINCE MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR MAINLY AND HAS HAD TO CALL FOR HELP TO GET THE CAR STARTED. I WILL BE BRINGING IT BACK TO THE DEALER ONCE AGAIN. THEY WILL END UP REPLACING THE BATTERY AGAIN BUT THE FACT THAT IF YOUR CAR IS TURNED OFF AND DOORS ARE OPEN FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THE DRAW COMING OFF THE BATTERY IS...
THE CAR CAUGHT FIRE WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY (STATIONARY). THE CAR WAS HAVING ELECTRICAL/BATTERY ISSUES IN THE MORNING. I CHARGED THE BATTERY, THEN STARTED THE CAR AND LEFT IT RUNNING IN THE DRIVEWAY, WHEN I CAME OUT OF THE HOUSE, THE ENGINE OF THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. I CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PUT THE FIRE. THE FIRE MARSHAL DETERMINED THAT AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE IGNITED THE ENGINE. AFTER POSTING THE PHOTOS OF THE FIRE ON FACEBOOK, WE RECEIVED MULTIPLE COMMENTS THAT OTHER PEOPLE'S SUBARU'S HAVE HAD BATTERY/ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE A SPECIALIST EXAMINE THE VEHICLE TO HELP DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE.
SEVERAL TIMES, WHEN TRYING TO CLOSE THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW, THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW AND THE SUNROOF, THE WINDOW DID NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY AND SUBSEQUENTLY RE-OPENED. IT HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AS WELL AS STATIONARY.
AT ONLY 17.6K MILES, THE BATTERY IN MY 2019 SUBARU ASCENT WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED OVERNIGHT, FOR NO LOGICAL REASON. I CALLED SUBARU ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO GIVE ME A JUMP AND I LET IT RUN FOR 33 MINUTES THEN TOOK IT FOR A 10 MIN DRIVE. THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN THE NEXT MORNING. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY OVERNIGHT AND UNTIL THE 10 MIN DRIVE. DURING THIS TIME THE TAILGATE WOULD PERSISTENTLY BEEP, TRYING TO OPEN.
ON 4 OCCASSIONS THE LIFTGATE OF THIS SUV WAS LEFT UP FOR 45 MINUTES TO 1.5 HOURS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND STATIONARY. ON EACH TIME THE BATTERY DISCHARGED TO A POINT THE CAR WOULD NOT START. FORTUNATELY WE HAD CELL SERVICE AND COULD SUMMOND HELP, BUT THIS COULD OCCUR WHERE THERE IS NO CELL SERVICE AND LEAVE US COMPLETELY STRANDED. AFTER THE FIRST 3 TIMNES WHICH HAPPENED IN RAPID SUCCESSION I TOOK THE SUBARU ASCENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE BATTERY HAD A WEAK CELL AND THEY REPLACED IT WITHOUT CHARGE. THE REPAIR INVOICE IS ATTACHED. BUT THEY NEVER TOLD ME THAT LEAVING THE LIFTGATE UP MORE THAN 30 MINUTES WOULD CAUSE THIS PROBLEM AND LEAVE ME STRANDED. THEN WHEN THE PROBLE OCCURRED AGAIN I WENT ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THIS IS A WIDELY-KNOWN DEFECT IN THE SUBARU ASCENT AND OTHER SUBARU MODELS THAT HAS STRANDED...
THE VEHICLE HAS HAD A DEAD BATTERY ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS IN THE PAST YEAR INCLUDING THIS MORNING (12/04/2020), AND THE VEHICLE IS STILL LESS THAN TWO YEARS OLD, AND ONLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000 MILES.
CAR DIED AND WOULD NOT START AT ONE YEAR OLD, DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY BATTERY 11/2019; ALMOST EXACTLY ONE YEAR LATER AT MD OFFICE WOULD NOT START AND LIGHTS FLICKERED AND NO CONTROL, WOULD NOT START AGAIN! ; NOW SITTING IN PARKING LOT WAITING TOW; BELIEVE FAULT IS RELATED TO BATTERY DRAIN IN ONE YEAR AND ELECTRICAL DRAIN; LEFT STRANDED WITH TWO KIDS GETTING COVID TESTED WITH A BRAND NEW 2 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 20,000 MILES ONLY!!!!!!!
