The main ABS module has an internal electrical failure and shuts down. The failure affects the ABS, Traction Control, Trailer brake system and Cruise control to all be inoperable until replaced. The Module is unavailable from dealership with no known date of arrival.

Failure of this part prevents the ABS system, trailer brake, cruise control, and traction control from functioning properly. Part is currently installed into vehicle and is not available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Car no longer has ABS, traction control, trailer brake, or cruise control. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. This is a know issue with 2014-2016 Ram 1500s. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? While driving at approximately 50 mph, my truck suddenly shut off without warning. I lost engine power, power brakes, and power steering. I was only able to stop safely because I happened to be traveling uphill. This created a serious safety hazard. The failure was caused by the crankshaft tone ring issue addressed in the existing recall. The tone ring has already been replaced, but the recall requires a dealer-performed ECM software update to complete the repair and ensure the vehicle is safe to operate. The dealership is refusing to perform the recall software update because my truck has an aftermarket exhaust and a modified EGR valve. These modifications are unrelated to the recall. The recall only involves an ECM software update, and my ECM is completely stock. Because of this refusal, I cannot safely drive my truck. FAILURE IN ABS CONTROL MODULE. NO NEW REPLACEMENTS AVAILABLE AND NO AFTERMARKET PARTS AVAILABLE. HAVE BEEN UNDER ENGINEERING REVIEW DUE TO COMPONENT FAILURE WITH NO RECALLS ISSUED. IT CONTROL MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL. IT ALSO DISABLES MY 4WD AND TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, NO ETA ON A POSSIBLE RETURN OF STOCK. I AM PULLING CODE C2200-49 WHICH INDICATES AN INTERNAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE OF THE COMPONENT. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR ALMOST 2 1/2 YEARS.
I was resuming speed after a toll, my 2015 Ram Eco Diesel 1500 lost all momentum, threw an alarm to service the Electronic Throttle with a red lightning bolt framed by two red lines, and I limped to the shoulder with several semi close on my tail. After researching I shut off for a minute, removed key, opened door, then restarted. The engine struggled and revved several times before starting. The dealership confirmed the Tone Wheel is cracked in several places and is failing of not fault of mine. She is still there with the parts on order. This is related to already completed recall W58, although should be addressed by W68. I should not be penalized for taking good care of my truck. I am experiencing ABS issues on my truck. After visiting a local auto parts store to get an OBD scan, the code says it’s a bad ABS module. I called the dealership to share this information and they confirmed the code from the auto parts store is a bad ABS module. They said “oh no, you got that code huh? You’re not the only one.” The reason for my visit was because three lights were illuminated on my dash. The ABS light, the traction control light, and the BRAKE (trailer brake) light. The messages on the dash display say to service the ABS system, service the electronic braking system, and service the trailer brake system. From my research, I have discovered that many people are experiencing this same issue on similar vehicles . So much in fact that the parts for repair are unavailable at the dealership and online warehouses....
Failed ABS Module
The concern is a rear end collision. At road speeds, vehicle changed to neutral (popped out of gear). Engine continued to run. Vehicle had to cost to a safe spot. At stop the vehicle was turned completely off and restarted with no issue. This is a repeatable but intermittent issue. This issue has also occurred at stop signs and slow speeds. The engine check light and ABS Light did come on. The following stored codes were present: P0340, P1DD2 and U1424. The following pending codes were present: P1DD2, U017E-70, P0340-30, U1424, U0415. Camshaft Position Sensor was changed; but didn't fix the issue.
Truck dashboard is showing warning/hazard lamps for Automatic Braking (ABS), Emergency Breaking, and trailer breaking. The cruise control is also not working. Error code C2200 is registered. I've taken it to a RAM dealer and Firestone. Both say that the ABS module (68228991AB) needs to be replaced, but parts are not available. This problem was initially identified May 2024. I call every month to see if the part are available and they say to call back next month. RAM Trucks (aka Stellantis) instructed all dealers and parts suppliers to return all new versions of the part.
warning light on dash said abs needs service. it is available for inspection. antilock brake system inoperative. problem has been confirmed by dealer. dealer states the parts are on back order and dont know when parts will be available.
On [XXX] numerous brake system warning dash lamps came on on your truck. I also noticed that once this happened the cruise control no longer works. The local RAM dealer could not inspect my truck for several days so I had an independent service center test it and he confirmed the anti-lock brake module had stopped working. I believe he also noted that error code(s) were detected. yes, it can be inspected. I drive the truck but do so without the use of the anti-lock brake system. Yes, the problem has been reproduced, and l've visited my local dealer and discussed the situation with them and they confirm that this has been an ongoing problem for over 2 years. Dear NHTSA, I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my experience with my 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, particularly in relation to unresolved recalls and inadequate service from dealerships. Last year, I began experiencing significant issues with my truck, ultimately leading me to Southern Motors in Springfield. They diagnosed the problem as needing a new engine, which was concerning. However, my vehicle also had outstanding recalls, including one for the fuel pump, which I was informed they did not address and ended up being the issue with the engine in the first place but instead they informed me I would need to pay for a new engine roughly $20k. I then took my truck to Hayes Dodge Ram Jeep Chrysler in Gainesville, Georgia. While they did perform the recall for the fuel pump, I was charged $400 to update the system—an action I believed should have been covered under the...
The contact owns a 2015 RAM 1500. The contact stated that while driving on multiple occasions at various speeds the vehicle lost power. A " Service Electronic Throttle Control" message appeared. The check engine warning light was also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the crankshaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.
ABS Module failed triggering BRAKE light service and ABS Service light, and the ESB light. 6 month + and counting to get this OEM module. Why are you not addressing the supply chain issue......
My truck, like those of numerous other Ram owners, has a malfunctioning ABS Control Module. Because of this malfunction, the ABS and cruise control do not work. In turn, this places me and other owners of this vehicle in an unsafe situation in that lack of an operating ABS system is conducive to skidding and accidents. Some owners have even reported that they cannot drive their vehicles due to locked brakes which resulted from this malfunction. I have a standing Brake , ABS , Anti Skid light and no Cruise control. All symptoms of a failed ABS Module. New Repair parts are not available from the Dealers or other Repair shops. Many trucks and drivers are at risk especially in winter weather or rain slick roads.

COMPLAINT/INCIDENT.On February 9th 2024, I was making a right hand turn onto main Street. My speed was under 10mph, closer to 5mph. . Without any warning or MIL, my truck suddenly went from easy steering to unable to move the steering column and jerked/locked the wheel by 90 degrees to the left. In other words, the steering wheel went from the 3:00 position and locked into place at the 12:00 position at the apex of the right turn. This put me on a path to driving into a 2story brick building. I was unable to accelerate and I was unable brake momentarily. The engine sputtered a few times; and that is when the MIL lit up on my dashboard stating “electronic power steering service” and “low battery voltage”. My truck is experiencing the “hemi tick”. Upon research, this tick is a common defect in RAM trucks that was supposed to be fixed in later models. Not true. Not only do I need to pay thousands for replacing the manifold, it will be a problem again. The hot/cold engine melds the aluminum and steel, creating a warped or split manifold. To replace it is immense labor, hence costly fees, as the bolts are too small to adequately remove and snap. If drilling out, metal could get into other parts of the engine causing severe damage. I bought this used at $30,000 miles (approx). Per my mechanic, the manifold has already been altered once. While driving on the highway between Nenana and Fairbanks, AK, on August 9, 2023, I attempted to pass a slow moving RV towing a trailer. While in the passing lane, I accelerated and my vehicle suddenly loss power. I was forced to swerve out of the passing lane to avoid a collision with with oncoming traffic and the vehicle being passed. After that event, the vehicle would not exceed 3000rpms or 35mph up hills. Immediately after the event, the service engine light came on and the dash showed engine error codes. I took the vehicle to the dealer (Gene's Chrysler in Fairbanks Alaska). After inspection, they indicate that the magnetic surface of the engine tone wheel was delaminating and this initiated the sensor to cause a "limp mode" (mode that limits vehicle's speed). After that event, the vehicle also had trouble starting as though it was not receiving sufficient fuel....
I was pulling out from my street that connects to a two lane highway. From my street you can see if cars are coming from quite a distance away. There was a semi truck in the distance going east bound in the direction I needed to torn into. There was absolutely enough room for me to merge out into the east bound lane without the semi truck even being affected. I was now about a 1/4 mile down the road and the semi was still aways back. Then, my truck started to sputter and not accelerate and as this a two lane road there at this point was nowhere to pull over. The semi was now coming up quick due to loss of power in my truck. The ABS control module has failed over a year ago and factory replacement parts are unavailable. Mopar dealers advise they are on backorder with no expected delivery date. The failure of this unit disables the Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control and Electronic Speed Control.
When pulling out onto Highway vehicle did not accelerate as it should and lost power when accelerating. Did get up to Highway miles. Lights on dash said electronic throttle control. Thought maybe the computer needed reset so removed battery cables and still nothing.
The speed control system was working recently then stopped for no reason. It does NOT register info on the dashboard or engage. Completely out. Due to the recalls for so many others, this needs to be added to your list.

I took the car for inspection to the dealer in naplenton in kisiimmee fl and the diagnosis so far is that it has damage to the abs module and the abs pump, which must be replaced and whose price for parts and labor is around 1615 $ with a tendency to increase according to the dealer, so far I only have the diagnosis and quote of the arrangement, since the parts take around 7 days to be available. While pulling a loaded trailer I was going around a right-hand bend in the road at about 35mph and the steering locked up throwing us off the road into a ditch. Thank God it did not throw us into oncoming traffic. Couldn't move the steering wheel at all with two men trying together. Required a tow truck to move to dealer. Also having issues getting the cruise to engage.
About a dozen times the accelerator pedal sticks to the floor. The pedal stays depressed even when my foot is not on it anymore. The vehicle races uncontrollably as fast as it can. Occasionally a red warning light with a thunderbolt displays on the dash. I have not taken it to the dealer because it is no longer under warranty but, I have replaced the throttle body and it made no difference. Also I have checked the NHTS website for recalls. My original factory floor mat does not go under pedal so as not to be the culprit. When the pedal sticks to the floor I must place the toe of my shoe on the side of the the accelerator pedal and lift it up. This stops the acceleration and the red warning light goes off. I HAVE HAD TWO PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE. THE FIRST IS THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL INTERMEDIATELY WORKS AND THEN DOESN'T AT TIMES. THE SECOND, IS THAT THE POWER STEERING INTERMEDIATELY WORKS AND THEN SUDDENLY WILL GO OUT IN MIDDLE OF A TURN. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE HOOKED HIS SCANNER TO IT AND ALTHOUGH THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON, HE RESET THE COMPUTER IN THE VEHICLE. THIS ACTION WORKED FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR AND THE THEN THE ISSUE WITH THE POWER STEERING RETURNED. I'VE LOOKED UP RECALLS ON BOTH THESE ISSUES AND HAVE NOTICED THERE ARE RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THESE PROBLEMS WITH RAM 1500, HOWEVER MINE IS NOT LISTED. I BELIEVE THEY NEED TO BROADEN THEIR RECALL ACTIONS BEFORE SOMEONE LOOSES THEIR LIFE DUE TO MECHANICAL FAILURE.

IN MAY 2019, RAM RELEASED THE V08 RECALL AS PART OF AN AEM DUE TO EMISSIONS COMPLAINTS. AFTER HAVING THIS RECALL DONE, MY DRIVEABILITY AND ACCELERATION HAS BECOME UNSAFE. TRYING TO TURN ONTO A FEEDER ROAD OR MERGE INTO TRAFFIC IS BASICALLY DANGEROUS. OFTEN, IT SEEMS TO HAVE A "DEAD PEDAL." I CAN PUSH THE GAS PEDAL AND OFTEN ABLE TO COUNT TO 3 BEFORE THE TRUCK ACTUALLY BEGINS TO MOVE SMOOTHLY.

MY VEHICLE IS A RAM ECODIESEL. FCA WAS CAUGHT INSTALLING SOFTWARE TO FRAUDULENTLY REPORT EMISSIONS DATA AND WAS ORDERED BY THE EPA TO INSTALL NEW SOFTWARE TO BRING EMISSIONS INTO COMPLIANCE. THIS VEHICLE WAS RECALLED UNDER THE ECODIESEL SETTLEMENT AND RECEIVED AN APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION. THIS UPDATE REPROGRAMMED THE VEHICLE COMPUTER TO IMPROVE THE EMISSIONS SYSTEMS. THIS MODIFICATION HAS CREATED A DRIVE-ABILITY ISSUE WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO FAIL TO ACCELERATE WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE GOES UP A STEEP HILL AND WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS PRESSED THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE, EVEN WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FLOORED. THEN THE ENGINE KICKS IN AND SPINS THE REAR WHEELS ON A GRAVEL ROAD. I LIVE IN WASHINGTON STATE AND IT IS SNOW COUNTRY. GOING UP A SNOW COVERED STEEP HILL IS GOING TO BE AN ISSUE. I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IF IT DID NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. THIS ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY THE APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION THAT HAS CREATED AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION.
AFTER COMPLETING THE EMISSIONS RECALL ON THE ECO DIESEL A SIGNIFICANT LAG IN ACCELERATION HAS OCCURRED. THIS LAG IMPACTS ABILITY TO KEEP WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC WHEN MERGING ETC. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS IT IS UNPREDICTABLE AND DRIVER CANNOT DETERMINE ACCELERATION BY SIMPLY PRESSING THE PEDAL DOWN - SOMETIMES WITH A 5-10 SECOND DELAY IN RESPONSE TO ACCELERATE. THIS CAN OCCUR FROM A STOP, AND MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY, FROM A STOP LIGHT AND MAKING A UTURN IN THE AUTHORIZED AREAS, WHEN MERGING ONTO A FREEWAY RAMP.
AFTER RESOLVING RECALL FOR EMMSUONS ON MY 2015 RAM 1500 ECODIESEL, THE THROTTLE RESPONSE IS LAGGING. AFTER I MAKE A TURN ONTO A ROAD THE TRUCK FAILS TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE GAS PEDDLE IS BEING PUSHED. IT HAS ABOUT A 3-4 SECOND LEG TIME. IT IS ESPECIALLY BAD IN A 90 DEGREE TURN GOING THROUGH A GREEN LIGHT ONTO ANOTHER ROAD. I'VE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED BY TRAFFICKING THAT WAS ORIGINALLY 150-200 FEET AWAY WHEN I ORIGINALLY TURNED ONTO THE ROAD. THE LAG IS ALSO NOTICED IN PASSING SITUATIONS.
FCA ISSUED A SOFTWARE UPDATE KNOWN AT "AEM" AFTER THEY LOST THEIR CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I HAD MY TRUCK UPDATED ON 5/29/19 WITH THE "AEM", ROTARY SHIFT AUTOPARK RECALL UPDATE, THE SEAT BELT RECALL UPDATE, AIRBAG RECALL UPDATE, AND THE TAILGATE RECALL UPDATE. I ALSO HAD A CATASTROPHIC EGR SYSTEM FAILURE THAT MADE MY TRUCK INOPERABLE FOR NEARLY THREE WEEKS. THE VEHICLE IS NOW UTTERLY UNPREDICTABLE. AFTER THE INITIAL START, I RANDOMLY HAVE NO LOW-END POWER. THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY LURCHES FORWARD AT FULL SPEED WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR FROM A FULL STOP. THIS MORNING I WAS TURNING LEFT FROM A DEAD STOP INTO TRAFFIC. I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND IT BARELY INCHED FORWARD FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. AFTER THE V08 RECALL THE DRIVABILITY OF VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS. THE FUEL CONSUMPTION AND THE LAG OF THE ENGINE IS ALSO A HUGE CONCERN BUT IT HANDLES TOTALLY DIFFERENT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING AN EMISSIONS UPDATE THAT WAS REQUIRED VIA A LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM. THE CONTACT HAD THE EMISSIONS UPDATED AT CORTESE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (2400 W HENRIETTA RD, #2324, ROCHESTER, NY 14623, (800) 952-7892) IN JUNE OF 2019. SINCE THEN, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S OVERALL PERFORMANCE DECREASED BY 25%. THE VEHICLE ALSO LOST POWER, LOST ACCELERATION, AND THE CRUISE CONTROL OPERATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE DEALER AND INFORM THEM OF THE FAILURES. THE SAME DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT INFORMED THEM THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THEN ACCELERATE SUDDENLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED BY AUBURN CHRYSLER DODGE (1901 GRASS VALLEY HWY, AUBURN, CA 95603). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
2015 RAM ECO DIESEL. RECENTLY, RAM AND JEEP WERE INVOLVED IN "IN RE: CHRYSLER-DODGE-JEEP "ECODIESEL" MDL," WHICH RESOLVED LEGAL CLAIMS ASSERTING THAT THE VEHICLES DO NOT COMPLY WITH FEDERAL AND STATE EMISSIONS REGULATIONS AND THAT FIAT CHRYSLER MADE MISREPRESENTATIONS TO CONSUMERS REGARDING THE VEHICLES. I PULLED THIS INFO FROM THE ECO DIESEL SETTLEMENT WEBSITE. IN RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE, CUSTOMERS WERE TO GET (3) THINGS; (1) V08 SOFTWARE UPDATE; (2) MONEY, DEPENDENT ON YOUR OWNERSHIP STATUS; AND (3) A 10 WARRANTY EXTENSION. I HAD THE V08 SOFTWARE UPDATE COMPLETED AT THE END OF MAY, 2019. SINCE THAT UPDATE, MY VEHICLE HAS HAD POOR PERFORMANCE WITH LACK OF POWER AND ACCELERATION. WITHIN A WEEK OF HAVING THE UPDATE DONE, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT ON AS WELL. I HAVE RECEIVED VARIOUS RECALL NOTICES ON THIS VEHICLE WHICH I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO LOOK INTO THIS TO SEE IF THIS CAR QUALIFIES AS A LEMON. THESE ITEMS HAVE BEEN FIXED BY THE DIFFERENT DEALER SHIPS, BUT HAVE MORE THAN 5 RECALLS IS A BIT TOO MUCH.

ECODIESEL - FOLLOWING RECALL AEM (APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION) UPDATE, THROTTLE RESPONSE IS EXTREMELY POOR AT TIMES. WHEN TURNING ONTO A ROADWAY FROM A STOP THE VEHICLE IS SOMETIMES VERY SLOW TO ACCELERATE, RISK OF COLLISION DUE TO BEING UNABLE TO INCREASE TO SAFE SPEED. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE UNDER THIS CONDITION THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY ABRUPTLY ACCELERATE WHICH SOMETIMES RESULTS IN WHEEL SPIN (LOSS OF TRACTION). THIS HAPPENS IN DRY AND WET CONDITIONS.
EPA HAS REQUIRED AN AEM FLASH UPDATE FOR MY RAM ECODIESEL. THIS UPDATE HAS BECOME A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. DUE TO THE UPDATE, WHEN THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 160 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, THERE IS A 3-5 SECOND DELAY IN ACCELERATION. 0N 7/8/19, LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP FROM RECEIVING THE EPA REGULATED UPDATE, I HAD TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC. ON 7/29/19 AT APPROXIMATELY 12:30 PM, WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 60 - 65 MPH, WEST BOUND ON INTERSTATE 40 AT N.C. MM 31, THE TRUCK LOST POWER (LIMP IN MODE), THE CHECK ENGINE & SERVICE AUTOMATIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM LIGHTS CAME ON. NOTICED A SMALL AMOUNT OF WHITE SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK. COASTED OFF OF THE INTERSTATE AND CAME TO REST IN A USED CAR DEALERSHIP'S PARKING LOT. TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND OPENED THE HOOD WHERE I FOUND AN APPROXIMATELY 8' FLAME PROJECTING FROM UNDER THE PLASTIC MANIFOLD COVER. AFTER RECEIVING THE UPDATED ENGINE PROGRAMMING RECALL ON MY ECODIESEL RAM, THE THROTTLE RESPONSE IS DANGEROUSLY SLOW WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP. THERE IS A SEVERAL SECOND DELAY FROM ME APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE THROTTLE PEDAL AND THE ENGINE REACTING AND ACCELERATING. IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO JUDGE WHEN TURNING INTO TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF THIS DELAY.
