2015 RAM 1500 Engine Problems

Code P200A and P2D2D showed up, linking to an intake manifold issue. After researching, shows connected to Recall VB1. After speaking with FCA Recall department, they said that the recall was completed. To my knowledge, the vehicle is having the same related issues as the state previous to the recall. FCA will not initiate another recall on my vehicle to resolve the issue the VB1 recall was supposed to address.

Manifold bolts have been replaced 2 times. I am now experiencing a 3rd time,and can smell fumes in side of vehicle.

From 2009 and 2016 ram redesign there litters. I am now getting the lifter and loosing freeway speed. This issue should be a safety problem .mine ram is a 2015.

Imediately following z46 recall my vehicle lost all motive power on the interstate. No warning lights etc. Dealer who performed recall took no responsibility and explained my engine has seized. The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle started to hesitate while depressing the accelerator pedal, with the oil and check engine warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled over and attempted to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to restart. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to the residence. The contact used a code reader to diagnose the vehicle and retrieved DTC: P0087 (Fuel Relay Flash System). The system advised the contact to replace the diesel injection pump, fuel pump, and fuel water separator filter. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact called the dealer and left a message. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.

Sudden engine failure

I'm the 2nd owner in the vehicle I still owe $4,000 on it. I take very and I mean very good care of it even put a new rear-end in it. I was driving it no.lights came on and it started knocking. When I pulled over I popped the hood and was looking it over went to check the oil pulled the diptych out and it had some coming out of it. In writing complaint against FCA for not fairness for some VINs with Ecodiesel doesn’t include W68. Following with recall W58 vs W68, my VIN was picked for W58, but never pick for W68 because my VIN is not included. Just complete service for crankshaft throttle failure and spent $2000 for this. I am very disappointed that crankshaft failure recalled do not cover because W68 was not included. I think those W58 for computer update failed to prevent break down due to loose magnetic issue. My VIN is suppose to add recall for W68 because FCA missed this. W58 failed to cover the damages with crankshaft which is mean computer doesn’t solve the problem.

My 2015 Chrysler Ram EcoDiesel 4x4 has a major safety defect that nearly caused a catastrophic accident and has left me traumatized. I have had rust all throughout the frame of the truck

The concern is a rear end collision. At road speeds, vehicle changed to neutral (popped out of gear). Engine continued to run. Vehicle had to cost to a safe spot. At stop the vehicle was turned completely off and restarted with no issue. This is a repeatable but intermittent issue. This issue has also occurred at stop signs and slow speeds. The engine check light and ABS Light did come on. The following stored codes were present: P0340, P1DD2 and U1424. The following pending codes were present: P1DD2, U017E-70, P0340-30, U1424, U0415. Camshaft Position Sensor was changed; but didn't fix the issue.

I experienced an issue with a ticking noise coming from the engine. I took the truck to a local repair shop and they indicated that the problem was an issue with the valves not getting enough lubrication. The repair shop indicated that this is an issue with the 2010 - 2015 Ram trucks that they see multiple times every month. They indicated that a company has patented a change to the part that squirts oil onto the valves to correct the issue. To fix the issue I had to have the engine replaced. If I had not replaced the engine to correct the issue the engine could have seized or broken down while I was driving.

I just looked up that some of the Ram 1500 (2015) models are also in the recall on the Three way coolant valve.I have now purchased Four (4) replacement parts for this ongoing issue. Also replaced my engine. What to do?

I am reporting a defective tone wheel on my 2015 RAM 1500 Pickup equipped with a 3.0L engine ("RAM") while accelerating into congested rush hour Interstate traffic. The RAM experienced an unexpected significant loss of power due to loss of crankshaft position. Subsequent inspection by the Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership confirmed that the RAM suffered a loss of crankshaft position due to a missing section of the magnetic material attached to the tone wheel and that as many as 14 cracks in the magnetic material are visible. For an undisclosed reason, FCA US did not include the RAM in Important Safety Recall W68/NHTSA 20V-475 (replacement of defective tone wheel) but rather kicked the can down the road and reprogrammed the software in the Powertrain Control Module under Safety Recall W58/NHTSA 20V-475. Tone wheel delaminating while driving. I was passing a vehicle in a passing zone and the truck lost power. Safety was definitely put at risk luckily there was no one in the on coming lane. Problem was confirmed by independent shop. Has an appt with manufacturer March 10th 2025. No prior warning lamps or other symptoms. I know there was recall about this certain issue, but the recall only changed the computer software, and didn’t actually fix the defective part.

Rapid deceleration while at highway speeds

Exhaust manifold bolts failed resulting in a separation of the manifold from the engine block. Resulting in a loud “ticking” noise coming from the engine compartment. Vehicle was driven to a mechanic were new bolts were installed resulting in a several hundred dollar repair cost.

ABS Modular is malfunctioning and recommended to be replaced. I have been waiting 1.5 years for this part and continue to be told it’s not available. Was driving to store got to store came out vehicle won't start just keeps turning over. From others that have the same vehicle ecodiesel I'm told it's the tone wheel/crankshaft position. And that the cheap plastic housing chips which causes the no start. Also recall for high pressure fuel pump. From what I seen on internet and from others with the same issues it's due to high pressure fuel pump which has a recall on it. But when it was sold by the dealership in November 2023 the dealership said there was NO open recalls. But then I find out there is an open recall for the high pressure fuel pump. Engine seized while driving at freeway speeds. Complete and permanent loss of power to the vehicle without warning lamps, messages, or prior symptoms. Near collisions on freeway due to sudden loss of power and no power to maneuver the vehicle. Emergency tow required to remove myself and vehicle from soft center median with no guard rail. The manufacturer/dealership has inspected the vehicle. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

Tone wheel cracked, part available, at dealership currently very costly to fix

I previously sent a complaint regarding my vehicles CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. I took it to a dealership and I now have to wait for the part to be ordered! Then it is going to be about 2 weeks before it can be repaired! I was told by the dealership that this part had been on a recall list! My Ram 1500 Ecodiesel was reprogrammed by Henkle Auto dealership in Battle Creek Mi. It now has a dead fuel pedal when cold and will then lunge all at once. I also lost 4 mpg. I have contacted the dealer and Ram Chrysler, and they said that there is nothing they can do to undue an updated ECM program. My case number from Chrysler is [XXX]. Dodge sent us a safety recall in May 2021 for Crankshaft Positioner Sensor and Toner Wheel faulty part. We took it to our local dodge dealership, they ran a computer test and said "it's fine" and sent us on our way. The car involuntarily stalled a few times while driving it the past few years. In February 2024, we took the vehicle in (AGAIN) to have the same issue looked at and they said the part needed to be replaced and said dodge will not pay for it and charged us $2900. Dodge is refusing to take accountability for this original safety recall and we are very concerned that our family was put at risk many times while driving this vehicle. Dodge new this part was a faulty part and refused to replace it.

Yes, the vehicle has been inspected, but due diligence needs to be done on the part of the inspectors to get at the root cause of the failure. No, that was one of the most alarming and scary parts is that there were no symptoms, warning messages, etc.

My Ram 1500 has lost power several times while cruising at 55+. The first time was related to recall W58. My crank sensor became delaminated and caused my truck to completely die. After months of waiting I finally received my truck back, however, the recall is still open due to there being no fix. Just a few months later my truck died twice on the highway. This time it was due to recall Z46. After being sent from one person to the next all I am left with is I am on a list that is about 2 years behind for replacement parts.

The crankshaft went out and needed to replace complete engine. I know other newer models ram 1500 trucks have the same problem but mine is a 2015, it was not listed on the recall.
