I noticed smoke filling the inside of my car. I looked over at the passenger seat, and my coat was on fire. I poured my drink on it, pulled over, and threw the coat out of the car. I saw a large hole in the lumbar area of the passenger seat, and it was glowing red and putting out a lot of heat. The seat heater was on, so I immediately turned it off. It was obvious that the fire has started inside the seat, and there was no other fire source in car--ie. lit cigarette, lighter, etc. If someone had been sitting there, they would have serious burns. The seat will need to be replaced.
Passenger side seat heater overheated and burned upholstery.
I was driving down the road and started smelling smoke then looked over and my passenger seat was in flames.
THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT HEATING SYSTEM CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED THROUGH THE FABRIC AND MY DOG'S SEAT. THE FUMES MADE ME AND MY DOG NAUSEOUS.I HAD TO SWERVE ACROSS THE HIGHWAY AND STOP ON THE SHOULDER TO EXTINGUISH THE SEAT FIRE/BURN. THE FUSE WAS PULLED FOR SAFETY. THE SEAT IS IN STORAGE FOR INSPECTION. MAZDA WILL BE CONTACTED.
The contact owns a 2016 Mazda CX-5. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. No warning light was illuminated. In addition, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine. The contact pulled over to the side of the road before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined that the engine had failed due to a lack of maintenance. The contact stated that the vehicle was equipped with an automatic reminder regarding the oil change. The contact stated that the oil change reminder failed to illuminate to indicate that the oil level was extremely low. The check engine warning light also failed to illuminate. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately...
We had another CX-5 in the back that we used to test whether or not it was either the throttle body or the BCM ( Body Control Module ) or the PCM ( Power Control Module ) not working that is causing your vehicle to not wanting to turn on The throttle body passed we transferred it over from vehicle A ( Being the donor ) to vehicle B (Being your vehicle ) and it was still doing the same thing which it would crank but not fully turn on and that is how we ruled that part out The BCM we also transferred over from vehicle A to vehicle B and same thing it would crank but not fully turn on This is what the mechanic at Mazda Collision Center of Irving stated: The PCM has power and is communicating with everything else in the vehicle. If it was...
The info uni in the car constantly resets itself. It happens when GPS is activated, parking, listening to directions, pretty much at all time especially in crucial moments. Nav center doesn't even load at times, this causes unknown information of speed limits and streets.
Keyless entry stopped working, key fob battery replaced as well as car battery. Coolant issues. Heater core and sensors
The engine light constantly appears along with the "Schedule Maintenance Soon" light. Taken to dealership many times within my 3 month warranty and no definite reason was given. The vehicle rides very bumpy though sway bar was inspected and supposedly repaired by dealership during my 3 month warranty.
Ghost touch screen on multimedia. Causing detracting issues while driving.
The used 2016 Mazda CX5 I just bought apparently has the "ghost touch screen" where the Infotainment system will randomly pick controls, place phone calls, change navigation. How can this not be a safety recall? I'm afraid to drive this car and not have full control of the navigation system or controls. This is DANGEROUS to have this happen when driving!! Mazda should be held accountable for this clear safety problem.
This vehicle has rear Electric Parking Brakes. Some time it's works sometimes it doesn't release the rear passenger side breaks. The rear passenger side brakes make to much noise and brakes pads destroy rotor earlier then others. Mazda dealers doesn't says to much on that and ask for above $1000 repair to change faulty EPB clipper. But my research says many people have same complaints with this model by mazda built-in around 2016. This is safety issue, if I replace brake pads every 4 or 5 months it cost me money. If I don't I cost me my safety.
The contact owns a 2016 Mazda Mazda CX5. The contact stated that on two separate occasions, the vehicle unintentionally accelerated without warning in an attempt to park the vehicle. On the first occasion, the vehicle drove in between two trees with the contact's foot on the brake pedal before the vehicle came to a stop. The air bags did not deploy upon impact and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to an independent body shop where the vehicle was repaired for minor damage. The contact was also informed that no computer codes indicated any signs of a mechanical failure. On the second occasion, the vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle while again attempting to park the vehicle in a parking lot. The force of the collision caused the already hit vehicle to crash into yet another parked vehicle. The air bags did not deploy upon impact and no...
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - The infotainment system goes into a reboot loop and never starts. At times the backup camera will turn off when backing up. At other times the backup camera will not turn off and will be on while driving forward. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? When the backup camera turns off while utilizing it there is the possibility for an incident. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - Yes, the dealer confirmed the reboot loop. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - Only the dealer. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - No, they appears...
I buy this car 2 years ago and 3 months later is starting having problem with rear passenger brakes I took the car to the mechanic and he change disc and brakes pads. A couple months later is starting having the same problem in the same area but this time is was smell burn coming through the wheel I'm stop the car to check was is going on when I check the brakes it was very very hot. I take the car to the mechanic and he told me the EPB is bad he changed everything disc, brakes pads, caliper and EPB motor. He said try to don't used the EPB too much or I'm going to see you again with same problem 😂... So I'm stop to use the EPB for long time. One day I put my car in the carwash one guy hit the EPB when he's done...
FRONT PASSENGER SEAT CAUGHT FIRE WHEN SEAT WARMERS WERE ON. I WAS TRAVELLING IN A RURAL AREA IN ALASKA WHEN I HAD TO STOP BECAUSE MY PASSENGER CAUGHT FIRE ON HER JACKET.
UNKNOWN cause for short battery life. The battery has been changed 4-5 times since 2020 with a brand new battery. The alternator has been checked and is fine. The dealership is going to check my vehicle again but this is an issue for multiple people with the same vehicle model.
The electronic emergency brake switch freezes in cold weather . The parking brake can not be released until the weather warms. This is safety issue, because the motorists is now stranded. I took my vehicle to the dealership,. but the would not address the problem. This happened 2 times on the following dates 13 February 2019 14 February 2022. I'm retired and very little. I only have about 23000.miles on my vehicle. I live ln New York City and do not feel safe driving in the winter, because my vehicle's electronic emergency brake switch freezes in the cold weather .
smart key. during driving all the lights on the dashboard come on and the siren goes off and unable to have it turn off. After a period of time, its wears down the battery and it is no longer drivable. First time, it was towed to the AAA auto repair and they could not find anything wrong with it. The 2nd and 3rd time, AAA towed it back to Maita Mazda where we purchased it in good faith less than two months ago, and their service department could not find anything wrong with the electrical system. They replaced the battery the seond time, and the issue still occurred again when I turned it off. Then turned it back on as I needed to close the driver side window, and it would not turn on. No one seems to believe me, and we cannot get Maita to take it back and...
Last month, my vehicle suddenly applied the electronic parking brake (EPB) while I was driving. The EPB & related warning lights illuminated & would not release until the vehicle was turned off. After turning off the vehicle, the EPB motor could be heard applying the brake to the rear wheels. When the car was restarted, the EPB would remain off for a period of time but would then suddenly reapply. I took my vehicle to a Mazda dealer & they determined the calipers & EPB motor had failed due to my vehicle not being placed in service mode by the brake servicer. This explanation makes no sense because the brakes were replaced over a year ago (& not since) with thousands of miles being driven since then without this issue arising. I also conducted my own research & found that Mazda has issued at least 3 separate technical service bulletins...
Parked by the curb at the Ft. Lauderdale International Airport. I put the car in Park and left the car idling with the air-conditioning running.as it was 95 degrees and about 100 at around 8:00 AM. There was a shuttle van parked by the curb about 11 feet in front of me. I had to exit my car to talk to the driver in the car behind me. I walked to the car behind me and started talking to the driver. I glanced back at my Mazda CX5 and it started rolling forward. I ran up to the car and got the door open and stepped on the brake. The brakes did not engage. I repeated stepping on the brake several times and the car would not stop. I got in the drivers seat to shift the car into reverse and keep my foot on the brake pedal. The car...
The Infotainment system engages in "ghost touch," where the screen scrolls through and clicks random buttons on its own. This occurs both while I am driving and while I am parked. It will change radio stations, exit out of the navigation, and click other random buttons so that I then have to turn off the display in order to get it to stop. For example, yesterday, it kept clicking the repeat button on the Bluetooth display so I was forced to listen to the same 1 second of a song until I could finally shut the Infotainment off. When this occurs while driving it is a hazardous distraction. Mazda had the same issue with its Infotainment system in the 2016 CX-3 and issued a recall. I reached out to Mazda to explain I am having the same problem but they will not fix it.
When the vehicle is running, but not moving the touch screen display randomly jumps/changes the display. This malfunction has changed the current radio station, navigation map screen, and/or the maintenance warnings/alerts. I believe this "ghost touch" poses a safety hazard not only due to the distracting beeps and screen changes but also the random change/reset of important maintenance alerts such as oil change and tire rotations. My Mazda dealer has updated the software but did not correct the malfunction. They now say I need to pay for a replacement of the touch screen display component to correct the "ghost touch" defect.
This is a follow up to NHTSA complaint ID Number 11442992: After doing a fair amount of research the problem was deemed to be the Front Body Control Module. A new replacement was ordered (about $250). It took about 1-1/2 to 2 weeks for the module to be received and about an hour for its installation. So far the wipers seem to be working correctly although they have yet been 'used', only tested. Googling "mazda wiper problem" you will find others reporting similar problems with the Body Control Module. I found this (https://www.mazda3revolution.com/threads/for-those-suffering-wiper-motor-issues-here-is-the-fix.232623/) forum entry when I did the aforementioned google search. And finally, post replacement I have visually inspected the original module and can easily see one of the components marked "2741" with corrosion around its mounting.
While driving on a remote highway the seat heating was on on both the driver and passenger seat. After a while it felt way ti hot and smelled like something burning and found the passenger jacket (that was taken off and left behind his back to be extensively burnt. We stopped and checked the seat. We found a big hole and the seat was damaged as well as the 300 dls coat. Plus the risk of having burns I. The passenger back, which was only protected by the cost and other layers of clothing
My problem is with the keyless start system. The problem is that if I forget to push the start button to shut down the vehicle and open the door and leave the automobile and shut the door with the key in my possession the auto will keep running until it runs out of fuel. Wouldn't it make more sense for the vehicle to shut down after 3 minutes if the key is not present. As you know people have died from carbon monoxide poisoning by parking in their garage and forgetting to shut down the vehicle and the vehicle keeps running and filling their homes with carbon monoxide. This happened to a older couple in Sarasota Florida with a new car that they just purchased and were not familiar with the starting system. Just wanted to know just how many people have to die before something is done about this...
The component that failed was the CMU unit in my screen. I was unable to use Bluetooth and hands free driving which put my safety at risk and when driving at night the screen would light up, reboot, shut down, light up which was very distracting. I took it to the dealership which they said this is happening in cars and they will not cover it. They fixed it at a cost of $864.34. I contacted Mazda and explained how distracting this is to drive and they explained there is nothing they could do but give me a $250.00 credit.
INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM CONTINUOUSLY REBOOTING / CMU GOES BAD. CANNOT REBOOT WITH REMOVING NAV CARD, ETC. THIS DISABLES BLUETOOTH, NAVIGATION, AFFECTS THE CAMERA. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS ONLINE THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE ACROSS THE BOARD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MAZDA CX-5. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS SHORT IN THE WIRING HARNESS AND THE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE THE MECHANIC WAS WORKING ON VEHICLE, THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. INVALID VIN.
THE DRIVER'S SEAT POWER ADJUST HAS BEEN SQUEALING EXTREMELY LOUDLY EACH TIME I ADJUST IT, AND BASED ON WHAT I'VE READ, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND COULD BE A SIGN OF THE DRIVESHAFT/MOTOR FAILING.
MAZDA CONNECT INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM REBOOTS CONTINUOUSLY THROUGH MULTIPLE SCREENS AND CANNOT BE TURNED OFF OR DISABLED. THE CONTINUOUS REFLASH THROUGH MULTIPLE HIGH INTENSITY LIT SCREENS CREATES A VISUAL DISTRACTION FOR NIGHT DRIVING.
VEHICLE AIRBAG ECU INOPERABLE AND FLASHES FAULT CODE, BUT SOURCE OF ISSUE CAN NOT BE FOUND. MECHANIC SPECULATES IT IS EITHER OCCUPANT SEAT SENSOR ISSUE OR COMPUTER SOFTWARE ISSUE.
I WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS THAT THIS IS NOW THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD TO TAKE MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND REPAIRS DUE TO THE SOY-BASED COMPONENTS THEY USE IN THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS THAT HAVE BEEN CONTINUOUSLY EATEN THRU BY SQUIRRELS. MY CAR'S HORN AND HEADLIGHTS NO LONGER WORK AGAIN AND THIS IS NOW THE SECOND TIME. I ASK THAT THESE ELEMENTS ARE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY FOR SAFETY REASONS. WIRE HARNESSES ARE A CRITICAL COMPONENT TO VEHICLE SAFETY. WIRES THAT CAN DEGRADE DURING THE NORMAL SERVICE LIFE OF A VEHICLE CAN BE DEADLY. THINK ABOUT A WIRE HARNESS WITH INSULATION THAT'S BEEN EATEN THAT CONTROLS THE ABS, FUEL INJECTION OR AN AIRFLOW SENSOR, AND YOU HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD AND IT SHORTS. NOW YOU LOSE POWER OR BRAKING. ARE WE WILLING TO HAVE SOMEONE'S VEHICLE FAIL AND THE PEOPLE SERIOUSLY HURT OR DEAD BECAUSE OF A FUNDAMENTAL...
THE LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ON BOTH SIDES OF MY 2016 MAZDA CX-5 HAVE BURNED OUT/STOPPED LIGHTING AFTER 39K MILES AND OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. THE REPAIR REQUIRES THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY WITH AN ESTIMATED COST OF $1200 PER ASSEMBLY. ($2400 TOTAL). BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND ONE APPARENTLY KNOWN TO MAZDA, THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2016 MAZDA CX-5 FROM A NON-MAZDA DEALER, HOWEVER AFTER PAYING $21,000 FOR THE VEHICLE I REALIZED THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT WAS NOT WORKING! MY BIGGEST SURPRISE WAS WHEN I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM REPAIR IT AND FOUND OUT THE ENTIRE HEADLAMP WOULD NEED REPLACING TO THE TUNE OF $1,100 DOLLARS! TODAY I CALLED MAZDA AND THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT THIS BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY! IT IS ESPECIALLY DISTRESSING IN THAT SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ARE ALL OVER THE INTERNET ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM WHEN THE CARS ARE STILL UNDER 30,000 MILES! I HOPE SOMEONE CAN DO SOMETHING, MAZDA SHOULD HELP CUSTOMERS IN THIS WAY, SINCE THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE PART!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MAZDA CX-5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY FAILED AND CAUSED SEVERAL SENSORS TO FAIL, INCLUDING THE TIRE AND PARKING BRAKE SENSORS, AS WELL AS THE COMPUTER SETTINGS. THE CONTACT WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE SENSOR FAILURE CAUSED THE REAR BRAKE PADS TO SMOKE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SUSSMAN MAZDA (1606 EASTON ROAD, WILLOW GROVE, PA 19090, (215) 887-1601) WHERE THE DEALER REPLACED ALL THE FAILED SENSORS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MAZDA CX-5. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OURISMAN MAZDA OF ROCKVILLE (801 ROCKVILLE PIKE, ROCKVILLE, MD 20852, 301-424-7800) DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE THAT AFFECTED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, THE VEHICLE'S SENSORS, AND THE HOME SCREEN. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A CERTAIN CONSOLE THAT CONTROLLED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE UPDATED AND THE PART WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND THE CONTACT WOULD BE INFORMED WHEN THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN THE DEALER'S POSSESSION FOR ALMOST TWO MONTHS. THE CONTACT HAD NOT RECEIVED A LOANER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS APOLOGETIC TO THE CONTACT FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE INVESTIGATING THE MATTER. THE CONTACT FILED AN INTERNAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE...
ELECTRIC PARKING BREAK (EPB) WARNING LIGHT START BLINKING AFTER THE RELEASE OF THE BRAKE. I LIVED IN A WARM TROPICAL WEATHER. IN MY UNDERSTANDING THIS FUNCTION WORKS ON COLD WEATHER.PROBLEM PERSISTS INTERMITTENTLY. IF VEHICLE TURNED OFF, PROBLEM "DISAPPEARS" BUT APPEARS AGAIN WHEN THE BREAK BUTTON WAS RELEASED. WEEKS LATER THE CAR STARTED TO ACTIVATE THE SMART CITY BREAK ALARM WHEN MOVING IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND IN A CITY STREET WITH NO REASON, SUDDENLY, AND BRINGING A SAFETY ISSUE. ALSO STARTED TO MAKE STRANGE NOISES RELATED TO THE BRAKE, SIMILAR WHEN THE BRAKES OR PADS GET WET AND MAKING THE CAR FORCED TO BE MOVED WHEN PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, MAKING THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT TO MOVE, NO MATTER BREAK IS RELEASED AND TURNING IT SLOW AND VAGUE. AN ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSTIC REPORT WAS MADE AND SHOWS THE FOLLOWING CODES : CODE C2005 (ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE MOTOR GEAR UNIT (RH) CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION CODE...
VEHICLE'S INFOTAINMENT/NAVIGATION SYSTEM FROZE UP. WHEN IN OPERATION THE SCREEN JUST BLINKS ON AND OFF. UPON BRINGING VEHICLE INTO DEALERSHIP WE WERE TOLD THAT THE ITEM IS BACKORDERED AS THERE ARE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE SYSTEMS THEY HAVE NO TIME FRAME TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED. UPON RESEARCH ON LINE IT ALSO APPEARS MANY OTHERS ARE SHARING THEIR SAME CHALLENGES WITH SYSTEMS THAT DO NOT WORK.
I HAD THE CAR STARTED AND TURNED THE HEADLIGHTS ON AND THE CAR STOPPED. DID SEVERAL TIMES SHUTTING OFF AND TURNING OFF. ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE PANEL FLICKERS. AFTER SEVERAL TIMES EVERY THING BACK TO NORMAL. AFTER ABOUT 2 MONTHS IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I TRIED IT SEVERAL TIMES AGAIN AND I EVEN DECIDED TO TRY AND DRIVE AND TURN THE LIGHTS ON WHILE DRIVING AND THE CAR STOPPED. WENT HOME STOPPED AT MY MAILBOX TO GET THE MAIL. TURNED CAR OFF, BACK ON, LIGHTS A FLASHING, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON, DROVE INTO MY DRIVEWAY. TURNED CAR OFF AND BACK ON A FEW MORE TIMES. FINALLY WAS WORKING OK. AND IT HAS BEEN A COUPLE OF WEEKS SINCE. AFRAID TO BE DRIVING THE CAR AT NIGHT THOUGH.
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT ON DRIVER'S SIDE WAS REPLACED IN DEC 2017 WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD 14,000 MILES. NOW THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT ON THE PASSENGER'S IS BURNT OUT. THE DEALER WANTS $1,200 TO REPLACE IT. I THOUGHT LED IS SUPPOSED TO LAST "FOREVER". ALSO, THE AUTO BRIGHT DOESN'T WORK. DEALER WANTS TO $100 TO TROUBLESHOOT.
FIRST OCCURRED ON 9/29/2017 AND MORE OFTEN AFTER 2/3/18 BATTERY DRAINS, NO START HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE BATTERY JUMPED 5-6 TIMES, REPLACED BATTERY SAME OCCURRENCES, HAVE TAKEN BATTERY TO BE CHARGED TWICE. FURTHER INSPECTION A WEEK LATER ON BATTERY AND A DRAW TEST 1, CAME BACK GOOD. COUPLE OF WEEKS BATTERY HAD DRAINED AGAIN. NO START NOTICEABLE SIGNS OF DRAIN. AIRBAG LIGHT ON AND OFF, HAVE HAD IT SERVICED PREVIOUSLY. HEAT AND A/C NOT PROJECTING LIKE NORMAL. STAINS ON WINDSHIELD. DESIGN ERROR THERE IS NO KEY ENTRY ON TRUNK WHEN CAR MALFUNCTIONS. DASHBOARD AND/OR DISPLAY SCREEN WILL OCCASIONALLY STAY ON WHEN CAR TURNS OFF. DRIVER WINDOW RATTLES. COMMAND SWITCHES FOR DISPLAY SCREEN REPLACED STILL STICKING. SEAT BELT HAS SCARED STOMACH.
STARTED CAR IN DRIVEWAY 2/10/19, 4 PM 'ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE TIMING WAS OBVIOUSLY ABNORMAL. RANDOM AUTOMATIC BRAKING NOTED WHEN CAR IN MOTION, WITHIN ONE BLOCK OF LEAVING DRIVEWAY. IMMEDIATE INABILITY TO ACCELERATE BEYOND 10-12 MPH EXPERIENCED. ERROR MESSAGES THEN OBSERVED ON CAR DASHBOARD WARNING SECTORS: CHECK ENGINE; TRACTION CONTROL: TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING; SMART CITY BRAKE SUPPORT MALFUNCTION-FORWARD SCBS DISABLED. CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE TO DEALER 12 MILES AWAY. CAR TOWED TO DEALER SITE 2/11/19 MONDAY AM. CAR HAS 28,330 MILES PER ODOMETER; SERVICE MAINTENANCE UP TO DATE, AS MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDED. DEALER ASSESSMENT OF CAUSE ON 2/11/19 REPORTED AS 'RATS NESTING IN ENGINE AND EATING THROUGH SOY INSULTATION ON WIRING ON ENGINE HARNESS.' REPAIR COSTS OF > $1,500 ESTIMATED. IT SEEMS THAT INSULATING ENGINE COMPONENT WITH NUTRIENTS ATTRACTIVE TO NESTING, UBIQUITOUS VERMIN IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN FOR CAR OWNERS AND USERS. ANY NHTSA GUIDANCE ON THIS CRITICAL ISSUE?
EBRAKE WOULD NOT DISENGAGE ON THE MAZDA CX-5 2016 GT WITH CITY BRAKE AND ELECTRONIC E-BRAKE AT 36,100 MILES DURING VARIOUS PARKING LOCATIONS SCENARIOS. VEHICLE WOULD START NORMALLY AT PUSH OF START BUTTON BUT THE E-BRAKE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON IN THE FLASHING MODE. TURN ENGINE OFF/RESTARTING WOULD RESOLVE THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY JUST TO RETURN TO THE SAME ISSUE AT RANDOM PARKING LOCATIONS. DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED A REPLACEMENT BATTERY MAIN 12 VOLT BATTERY FOR $185+TAX+INSTALLATION. BATTERY REPLACEMENT SUGGESTED BASED ON A CLAIM OF LOW VOLTAGE MEASURED AT THE E-BRAKE SWITCH LOCATED ON THE CENTER CONSOLE. THERE WAS NO OTHER SOLUTIONS PROVIDED BY THE DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER TESTING/ISOLATION OF ISSUE PRIIR MAKING A PAYMENT, TO INCLUDE CONFIRMATION THAT IN FACT THE BATTERY IS THE CULPRIT. UTILIZING AN ALTERNATE/TEST BATTERY COULD BE A TEMPORARY TESTING SOLUTION. PAYMENTS WERE MADE AS REQUESTED AND THE ISSUE OF THE FLASHING E-BRAKE LIGHT FLASHING/E-BRAKE NOT DISENGAGING IS...
RADIO START AND FEW SECONDS LATER IT SHUTS DOWN COMPLETELY
DRL IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. DRIVER SIDE COMPLETELY RUN OUT, PASSENGER SIDE - DIMMED AND FLICKERING PERMANENTLY. SMART CITY BRAKE SUPPORT SYSTEM IS DISABLED AND NOT WORKING AS WELL AS ADAPTIVE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS.
PASSENGER'S SIDE LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT FAILURE. I HAD THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY FOR THE SAME ISSUE PREVIOUSLY. VEHICLE HAS 32XXX MILES NOW AND THE SAME LED DRL LIGHT FAILED AGAIN., I HAVE YET TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER (NOTICED IT TODAY)
LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT ON PASSENGER-SIDE HEADLIGHT FLICKERS AND IS VERY DIM. ON A FEW OCCASIONS, THE DRIVER OF VEHICLE IN FRONT STATED THAT IT LOOKED AS IF MY HEADLIGHT WAS OUT AS WELL. VEHICLE IS ONLY 3-YEARS OLD. MILEAGE SHOULD NOT AFFECT ELECTIRAL LED COMPONENTS. DRL'S OR HEADLIGHTS ARE REQUIRED DURING ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS OR WHEN OPERATING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS.
WHILE ON A RECENT HIGHWAY ROAD TRIP, MY 2016 MAZDA CX-5'S DRIVER SIDE DAYTIME RUNNING LED LIGHTS, WHICH COME EQUIPPED WITH THE TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE, STOPPED ILLUMINATING PROPERLY. THE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP LED LIGHTS IN QUESTION WILL FLICKER OR NOT ILLUMINATE AT ALL. I FOUND THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ARE EQUIPPED ON VEHICLES TO ENHANCE VISIBILITY AND SAFETY. A FLICKERING DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP CAN CAUSE SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS RESULTING IN DISTRACTED DRIVING RELATED COLLISIONS. MAZDA ADVERTISED THESE SPECIFIC HEADLAMPS AS BEING A LONG LASTING AND PROVIDING ENHANCED SAFETY AS THEY ADAPT TO CHANGING ROADWAY CONDITIONS. UPON CONDUCTING INDEPENDENT RESEARCH INTO THE DRL (DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP), IT WAS LEARNED THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THE 2016 MAZDA CX-5, WITH THE TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE / LED HEADLAMPS, HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE ALMOST AS SOON AS THE BASIC FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRES. IT WAS THEN LEARNED THE AVERAGE COST...
PASSANGER SIDE DAY TIME RUNNING HEADLIGHTS BEGAN FLICKERING FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND THEN SIMPLY WENT OUT. THIS CAR IS BRAND NEW WITHIN THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF AND IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE THE FULL HEADLAMP UNIT AS IT IS LED AND MAZDA KNOWINGLY INSTALLED THESE FAULTY HEADLAMPS. I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF OTHER DOCUMENTED CASES OF THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET.
