Mazda issued a safety recall (Mazda safety recall 4320A, NHTSA campaign number 20V-063) to address daytime running light flickering/failure. At the time, only the passenger side daytime running light was replaced under the recall by Mazda, with a gasket/gas absorption sheet being installed on the driver's side. The driver's side daytime running light is now flickering/dim. Mazda did not repair the safety defect properly on the driver's side for the daytime running lights under Mazda safety recall 4320A, NHTSA campaign number 20V-063, because Mazda only installed the gasket/gas absorption sheets that have since failed, causing the daytime running lights to flicker, increasing the risk of crash. Mazda has refused to cover the cost for replacement of the daytime running lights per safety recall notice 4320A / NHTSA 20V-063, even though replacement of these lights is covered by the recall. Both a Mazda dealer and Mazda corporate customer service have been...
Only one headlight was addressed by dealer in repair for 4320A | NHTSA #20V-063 and they're refusing to cover the other side. The other DRL led light is now out from seemingly the same cause. They stated they did not fully follow the procedure in the documents I found regarding this recall when they repaired the first one because they "pre authorized" the swap of one side on "good faith" so there is not a record I can cite around the serial or lot numbers of the new or old lights on my own.
The controls on the Windshield Wiper/Headlight Control Stalk are not visible when driving at night. The setting markings on the Control Stalk are completely dark at night. This creates a safety hazard when driving at night in the rain and turning on your windshield wipers or changing your headlight settings is needed.
The contact owns a 2016 Mazda CX-5. The contact stated that the daytime running lights were significantly dimmed while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V063000 (Exterior Lighting); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Mazda CX-5. The contact stated that when the headlights were turned on, the passenger’s side headlight failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with front passenger's headlight failure. The contact was informed that the passenger's side front headlight needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V063000 (Exterior Lighting) in 2020; however, only the front driver's side headlight was replaced at that time. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V063000 (Exterior Lighting) had expired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Headlights are exceptionally dim, especially low beams. Recall for other models within same year not considered valid for this particular car. Ongoing but has gotten worse.
Part 573 Safety Recall Report 20V-063 Manufacturer Name : Mazda North American Operations Submission Date : FEB 06, 2020 NHTSA Recall No. : 20V-063 Manufacturer Recall No. : 4320A [XXX] My vehicle was impacted by this yet I never received notice from Mazda and when asking the dealership and Mazda USA to honor the repair I was told it was not covered. Mazda has also issues two TSBs regarding the issue, I inquired while the vehicle was under warranty but they said the issue was not covered. TSB [XXX] and TSB [XXX]. Only now did I find out about the TSBs and the NHTSA recall and the vehicle is out of warranty. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

We brought our vehicle into Mazda Dealer in 2021 for campaign 20V-063(2016 CX-5 – Daytime Running Lights May Fail - Safety Recall 4320A). Our vehicle had one of the lights completely inoperable and the other flickered intermittently. Upon inspection by the dealer, they only repaired the inoperable light-unit and was unable to replicate the issue with the other light. However, the previously intermittent light is now completely inoperable and the dealer will no longer honor the repair since the campaign is closed. Please advise next steps to facilitate a repair. Thank you for your time and consideration regarding this matter.
My vehicle does have an outstanding recall on the headlight. The dealership that was servicing my vehicle closed and said they had completed the recall but had not gotten to it before they closed up. Mazda says it's my problem they did the recall. My light does not work.
Low beam/ high beam still work normal, but the daytime running light is stop working.
By late October 2021, my right light started to flick, then my lower (normal night light) light stopped working.
In 2020 I was sent a recall notice for my headlights. I took my car into Foothills Lincoln Mazda in Spokane, WA for the repair. They stated that my headlights were the wrong production dates so they did nothing for the recall yet marked the repair as "completed" according to Mazda. Now both my headlights are having issues with the daylight running lights with one light flickering and the other not working at all. I have checked the documentation that I could find for the recall and found that in the repair procedures for Mazda Recall Campaign 4320A NHTSA Recall #: 20V-063 , it states the VIN number range and production dates effected and my vehicle was in the range for both. I contacted the dealer about this and they told me to contact Mazda customer service. I contacted Mazda customer service and they stated that the repair was marked...
I received a notice from NHTSA (Campaign No. 20V-063) in May 2020 regarding a recall on daytime running lights due a problem with flickering or not lighting at all. A local dealership changed the lights in September 2020 at no charge to me. Now in September 2021 I see that the passenger side DRL is flickering constantly.
LED daytime running lights (DRLs) failing while driving. Recall don for similar vehicles (4320A recall). This could impact the ability for pedestrians or nearby vehicles to see the SUV, particularly in low-light conditions when the low- or high-beam headlights aren't in use.
LED daytime running lights. 1 is sporadic/ flickering, and the other one is now out/ inoperable, soon the flickering one will go also. Making the vehicle harder to see by other drivers. Mazda has a recall # 4320A but my vin# is excluded? I have the same parts/ model #s as the recall! An extension of the recall, out to include my vin# would be appropriate.
The contact owns a 2016 Mazda CX-5. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V063000 (Exterior Lighting) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact called the local dealer several times and it was confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

MAZDA IS NOT FIXING A KNOWN ISSUE FROM A RECALL ISSUED A YEAR AGO FOR DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. FEB 06,2020 MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER4320A NHTSA RECALL NUMBER20V-063 ONE OF MY DRLS HAS BEEN BURNED OUT FOR OVER A YEAR. MAZDA SAYS THEY DON'T HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR. FURTHERMORE, THE DEALER WILL NOT PROMISE TO PRIORITIZE FIXING ISSUES ON CARS WHERE THE LIGHTS ALREADY BROKEN, WHEN THE PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE, WHICH MEANS OWNERS WITH WORKING LIGHTS MAY GET THEIR RECALL REPAIR BEFORE I DO, WHICH IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY ISSUE. WHAT CAN I DO??
I HAD A RECALL FOR MY DAYTIME RUNNING HEADLIGHT OVER A YEAR AGO, AND I TOOK IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT FIXED. NOW, OVER A YEAR LATER THEY STILL DON'T HAVE THE PARTS IN. IT'S BEEN VERY FRUSTRATING, ESPECIALLY THROUGH THE WINTER MONTHS.

NEARLY A YEAR AFTER THE INITIAL RECALL NOTICE, MAZDA HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO SUPPLY THE PARTS TO FIX RECALL #20V-063. THEY SEND POSTCARDS AND EMAILS MONTHLY, INDICATING THAT I HAVE NOT YET BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. THIS IS UNTRUE, I HAVE TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO HAVE THE DEFECT CORRECTED ONLY TO BE TOLD PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. ARE THEY COMPLYING WITH THEIR OBLIGATIONS UNDER THIS RECALL? I CAN'T HELP BUT THINK THEY ARE NOT BEING TRUTHFUL ABOUT THEIR FAILURE TO PROVIDE THE REQUIRED PARTS.

I HAVE TRIED SINCE FEB 2020 TO GET MY #20V-063 HEADLIGHT REPLACEMENT PER THE RECALL ISSUED AND THE FITGERALD MAZDA IN ANNAPOLIS MD TOLD ME SINCE THEN THAT THEY COULDN'T GET THE PARTS FROM MAZDA. I TRIED TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT AGAIN TO HAVE THIS FIXED ON 11/11/20 - AN APPOINTMENT THEY ACCEPTED ONLY TO BE TOLD ONCE I GOT THERE AFTER THE INSPECTION THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND CANNOT GET THE PARTS FROM MAZDA. I WAS ONE OF THE INITIAL CUSTOMERS TO REPORT THIS ISSUE AND RECEIVED A NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE REPLACEMENT AND NOT SIX MONTHS LATER, THE OTHER SIDE WENT OUT. I UNDERSTAND COVID LIMITATIONS BUT MAZDA NEEDS TO PROVIDE THE PARTS TO COMPLY WITH THIS RECALL CORRECT?

RECALL NOTICE RECEIVED MARCH 2020. MAY 5 SERVICE CALL PARTS NOT AVAILABLE, EMAILED 3 MORE TIMES AND STILL NO PARTS AVAILABLE OR CONTACT OF ANY SORT WITHOUT MY INITIATING. CALLED IN SEPTEMBER AND WAS TOLD I WOULD GET A LETTER WITHIN NEXT MONTH AND THAT PARTS WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. STILL NO CONTACT FROM MAZDA AS OF OCTOBER 15. SOMEHOW THEY KEEP MANUFACTURING CARS BUT CAN'T GET AROUND TO MANUFACTURING RECALL PARTS.
I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE IN MARCH 2020 REGARDING LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. I CONTACTED THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE AND TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED JULY 13, 2020. AT THIS TIME, I WAS TOLD BY MAZDA THAT THE PART NECESSARY FOR THE REPAIR WAS ON BACKORDER, AND WOULD BE RECEIVED IN APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS. I CALLED TO FOLLOW UP ON THIS IN LATE AUGUST. I WAS TOLD BY THE MAZDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER WITH NO ETA ON ITS AVAILABILITY. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING, BUT I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE MY RECALL NOTICE STATED THAT I SHOULD REPORT IF "MAZDA DOES NOT REPAIR THE DEFECT WITHIN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME." I LIVE IN THE STATE OF HAWAII AND VEHICLES ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE AN ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION COMPLETED. DUE TO THE RECALL AND...
MAZDA ISSUED A RECALL IN MARCH 2020 FOR THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ON THIS CAR, THE PARTS REQUIRED TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION ARE BACKORDERED, AND HAVE BEEN BACKORDERED SINCE MARCH. AS OF TODAY, MAZDA IS STATING THAT THE PARTS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR 4-5 MONTHS! DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ARE REQUIRED TO PASS THE ANNUAL VIRGINIASTATE AUTO INSPECTION. MY INSPECTION IS DUE THIS MONTH, AND MAZDA HAS EFFECTIVELY RENDERED MY VEHICLE ILLEGAL TO OPERATE IN THE STATE OF VIRGINIA! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MAZDA CX-5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS WERE INOPERABLE. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
THE DRL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLICKED THEN FAILED AROUND 12K MILE IN APRIL 2018. NOT LONG AFTER THAT, THE DRL ON THE DRIVER SIDE FLICKED THEN FAILED AROUND 16K MILE SOMETIME IN 2019. THE VEHICLE MILEAGE RIGHT NOW IS ONLY ABOUT 20K MILES !! ( WE ARE RETIREES AND HAVE 2 VEHICLES)
THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS HAVE STOPPED WORKING ON BOTH HEAD LIGHTS. THE COST FOR FIXING THE HEAD LIGHTS IS $1300.00 A PIECE. THE DEALER WON'T WARRANTY THIS REPAIR AND SAID IT WASN'T A SAFETY ISSUE. THE HEAD LIGHTS ARE THE ONES THAT SELF LEVEL AND TURN WHEN THE CAR TURNS.
THE "AUTO" FOR HEADLIGHTS / DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS WERE TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING IN RAINING DAYS OR IN DIMMED LIGHTING CONDITION IN THE EVENING, ON LOCAL ROAD AND HIGHWAY.
DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT DAY TIME LED LIGHT FLICKERS AND IT HAS HALF OF THE INTENSITY COMPARED WITH THE OTHER HEADLIGHT IF DRIVEN OR STATIONARY. THIS CONDITION STARTED TO BECOME NOTICEABLE TWO MONTHS AGO AND IT IS GETTING WORSE AND CLOSE TO THE POINT THAT THE DTL LED IS NOT VISIBLE ANYMORE AND THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT UNIT MUST BE REPLACED. MAZDA KNOWS ABOUT THE CONDITION AND CLAIMS THAT THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND REFUSES TO REPLACE IT.
MY 2016 CX-5 GT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY BASED ON MODEL YEAR, ALTHOUGH IT ONLY HAS 21000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS ALMOST EVERY OTHER OWNER OF THIS MAKE AND MODEL, WHICH IS THAT THE LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ON ONE SIDE (SO FAR) HAVE STOPPED WORKING. LED'S DO NOT BURN OUT IN JUST A FEW YEARS, SO THE PROBLEM IS IN THE WIRING INSIDE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. IT IS AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT MAZDA WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE. REPAIR COST CAN BE $1200 TO $1500 PER HEADLIGHT TO THE OWNER.
ONE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT IS NOW FLICKERING. IT IS NOT SERVICEABLE AND THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT CAPSULE MUST BE REPLACED AT ABOUT $1300 PER SIDE. I AM SURE THE OTHER ONE WILL FAIL SOON ALSO! CAR HAS 61000 MILES AND IS 4 YEARS OLD. AS DRL`S ARE OEM, IT MUST BE FIXED TO PASS NYS INSPECTION. OF COURSE IT IS ALSO A PROVEN SAFETY FEATURE!
LED RUNNING LIGHTS FLICKERING ONLY 29000 MILES, PAST THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY. REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY AT A COST OF$1000+.MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.MAZDA SHOULD EXTEND WARRANTY TO 100,000. NOT SAFE AND TO COSTLY TO REPAIR
LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS DO NOT WORK CAUSING MY VEHICLE NOT TO BE AS VISIBLE AS IT SHOULD BE ON THE ROAD DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS . ALL THE OTHER LIGHTS ARE ALSO LED . I AM WORRIED ABOUT FUTURE PERFORMANCE . JUST PURCHASED VEHICLE 2/3/2020 , DO NOT KNOW WHEN LIGHTS FIRST MALFUNCTIONED .
PASSENGER SIDE DAY TIME RUNNING LED LIGHT STOPPED WORKING JUST AFTER 3 YR WARRANTY EXPIRED. COST TO REPLACE OVER $1000. THERE IS A LOT OF REPORTS OF SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE 2016 MODEL.
THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FAILED. THE PROCESS TO REPAIR THE LIGHTS IS EXORBITANTLY EXPENSIVE AND I BELIEVE WILL DISSUADE CONSUMERS FROM GETTING THEM REPAIRED DUE TO THE HIGH COST. DISSUADING CUSTOMERS FROM GETTING THIS REPAIRED IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. TO REPAIR THE LIGHT BULBS COSTS MORE THAN $1000. THE REPAIR REQUIRES THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT TO BE REPLACED, AND ALSO REQUIRES REMOVING AND REINSTALLING THE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY. THIS IS JUST TO REPLACE A LIGHT! THIS IS A VERY POOR DESIGN AND WILL IMPACT OWNER SAFETY IN MY OPINION.
AT 76,000 THE DRIVER'S DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. BEFORE IT WENT COMPLETELY OUT I NOTICED IT FLICKERED.
MANY COMPLAINTS ON GOOGLE OF FLICKERING DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ON HEADLIGHTS THAT ARE A HAZARD AND DISTRACTION TO ONCOMING DRIVERS, MAY CAUSE SEIZURES FOR SOME. MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR 3 YEARS AND MAZDA WILL NOT RESPOND TO THIS OR ACKNOWLEDGE THE NEED FOR THIS RECALL, TO HAVE THIS FIXED IS A MINIMUM OF $1200. LIGHTING IS NECESSARY AND IF IT IS FAULTY, IT BECOMES DANGEROU.S THIS NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED AND MAZDA NEEDS TO TAKE RESPINSIBILITY. TOO MANY VEHICLE OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM.
AT 30,000 MILES, BUT OUT OF WARRANTY THE DRIVER'S DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHT STARTED FLICKERING AND AT TIMES WAS COMPLETELY OUT. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE ENTIRE LIGHT MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE PART WAS$1000.00. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT FLICKERING OCCURS WHILE DRIVING & WHEN CAR IS PARKED WITH MOTOR RUNNING.
NOTICED PASSENGER SIDE LED HEADLIGHT FLICKERING WHILE STOPPED BEHIND ANOTHER CAR AT TRAFFIC LIGHT. INSPECTED THE LIGHT ONCE I GET HOME AND FOUND THE DAY TIME RUNNING PORTION OF THE HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY IS THE PROBLEM. IT NOW FLICKERS AT ALL TIMES SINCE THIS COMES ONE DURING THE DAY AUTOMATICALLY. SERVICE DEPARTMENT FROM DEALER THE CAR WAS PURCHASED SAID THIS IS NOT COVERED BY MAZDA AND IT WOULD BE OUT POCKET REPAIR ($1,200).
