THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY AND THE ALTERNATOR FAILED. THE POWER WINDOWS WOULD NOT ROLL DOWN WHEN PROMPTED BY THE DRIVER. FURTHERMORE, SMOKE APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD NEAR THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,459.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED FOLLOWED BY THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OIL PUMP FAILED AND THE ENTIRE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE SAME DIAGNOSIS WAS RENDERED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
UNEXPECTED STALL WHILE DRIVING. HAPPENED TWICE THIS WEEK MONDAY 4/25 WHILE TURNING AND 4/28/16 WHILE DRIVING IN A 45 MPH ROAD (GRAND RIVER, FARMINGTON HILLS). THIS TOUCH HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY SERVICED BY DEALER FOR RECALL NOTICE AND HAS NOT HELPED THE ISSUE AT ALL!
ABOUT A MONTH AFTER PURCHASING MY USED JEEP, I WAS COMING TO A STOP ON A CITY STREET AND MY JEEP POWERED OFF COMPLETELY. AFTER TAKING THE JEEP IN TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY FIXED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY, WHICH WAS RECALLED ,AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. SINCE THEN MY JEEP HAS POWERED OFF 5 TIMES (ONCE WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY, TWICE WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY, ONCE WHILE MAKING A U-TURN UNDER THE HIGHWAY AND ONCE ON A CITY STREET) EACH TIME WHILE BRAKING. I'VE HAD NO POWER BRAKES OR STEERING EACH TIME.
I ENGAGED THE FACTORY INSTALLED REMOTE START IN SIDE MY GARAGE. WITHIN 3 MINUTES THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE ORIGINATED JUST IN FRONT OF THE PASSENGER SEAT BUT UNDER THE HOOD. I PRESSED THE START BUTTON IN ORDER TO TURN THE CAR OFF OF AUXILIARY. FLAMES ENGULFED THE ENGINE AND MY HOUSE.

UNEXPECTED ENGINE STALL WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME EXPERIENCING UNEXPECTED STALL OUT WHILE DRIVE AFTER THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED.
ON THE FIRST OF MARCH, MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE ABOUT TO START THEIR DAY IN THE USUAL WAY. SHE OPENED THE GARAGE DOOR AND USED HER KEY FOB TO REMOTE START OUR 2012 JEEP GC LIMITED ( AROUND 42K MILES) ( FACTORY INSTALLED REMOTE STARTER) SHE WALKED AWAY FOR LESS THAN 4 MINUTES AND RETURNED TO SEE SMOKE COMING FROM FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF JEEP. SHE CALLED FOR ME, AND PUSHED THE AUX BUTTON TO BE SURE THE VEHICLE WAS OFF. I CAME RUNNING AND DESPITE MY ATTEMPTS TO OPEN THE HOOD AND BEAT BACK WHAT QUICKLY ESCALATED INTO OPEN FLAMES I RETREATED TO ENSURE MY FAMILY'S SAFETY AND TO BE SURE THE EMERGENCY RESPONDERS WERE CALLED. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE SOME POTENTIAL FUEL FOR THE FIRE BY REMOVING OUR SECOND CAR FROM THE GARAGE (ALSO A CHRYSLER) AND SECURING THE DOOR BETWEEN THE HOUSE AND GARAGE....

THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY START OCCASIONALLY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WERE NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) WAS RECEIVED IN APRIL OF 2015. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE GIVEN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
VEHICLE STALLS WHEN APPLYING BRAKES WHILE DECELERATING. ALL POWER IS LOST AND VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER OR BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WILL RESTART WHEN PUT BACK INTO PARK AFTER DRIFTING TO A STOP. THIS IS A RANDOM PROBLEM THAT OCCURS 1-2 TIMES EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS ON AVERAGE. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO JEEP AND HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AND THERE ARE NO ENGINE CODES BEING GENERATED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS HAZARD AND I HAVE SIMPLY BEEN LUCKY I HAVE NOT BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT YET AS A RESULT.

SUDDEN STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH (ON TELEGRAPH ROAD, REDFORD, MI AREA- CITY STREET). THIS HAS OCCURRED ONCE AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE.
IN THE LAST 2 DAYS, MY 2012 GRAND CHEROKEE HAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING TWICE. ON 10/29/2015 EXITING THE HIGHWAY WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. THE SECOND TIME WAS THE FOLLOWING DAY 10/30/2015 WITH MY WIFE DRIVING BY HERSELF. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 30 DAYS. I PURCHASED IT FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS. THE RADIO AND LIGHTS ALL STILL WORKED. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE WITH NO BRAKES, NO POWER STEERING. ONCE STOPPED I COULD PUT IT IN PARK AND START IT AGAIN WITHOUT ISSUE.
VEHICLE ENGINE SHUT OFF DURING RIGHT TURN IN BUSY INTERSECTION WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS. UNABLE TO TURN OR CONTROL VEHICLE. ALSO THE BRAKE ON LIGHTS COME ON IN THE CONSUL DURING NORMAL OPERATION. BASED ON OTHER JEEP MODEL RECALLS, I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM MAY BE RELATED TO THE TIPM-7 MODULE. THE VEHICLE IS A GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLANDER 4WD. VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND HAS NOT HAD ANOTHER FAILURE, HOWEVER, THIS IS AN UNSAFE DRIVING SITUATION WHEN THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE DIES WHILE IN MOTION IN ANY ROAD CONDITION. 1-AFTER QUICKLY STOPPING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO COLLECT MAIL, I TRIED TO GO BACK INTO THE ROAD TO CONTINUE DRIVING BUT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND I COULD NOT STRAIGHTEN THE VEHICLE. I ENDED UP CROSSING INTO THE OTHER SIDE, GOING INTO THE DITCH AND HITTING A SNOW BANK. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE ABOVE VEHICLE. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO SEAVIEW JEEP IN OCEAN NJ I WAS ADVISED THAT THE EARLIEST APPOINTMENT IS SEPTEMBER 15. MY CONCERN IS THAT YOUR RECALL NOTICE STATES THAT "AN INTERMITTENT OR FAILED FUEL PUMP RELAY COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO FAIL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING." WHEN I CALLED CHRYSLER (800-992-1997) I WAS ADVISED BY THE REPRESENTATIVE ON THE PHONE THAT THE CAR WAS "MORE LIKELY NOT TO START" AND "YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE SERVICE SCHEDULE OF THE DEALERSHIP". MY QUESTION/CONCERN/COMPLAINT IS THAT HOW CAN YOU SEND OUT A RECALL THAT CLEARLY STATES THE ENGINE COULD STALL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING YET MAKE SOMEONE WAIT 2 WEEKS FOR THE APPOINTMENT. THIS ENGINE IN THIS VEHICLE MISSES FROM TIME TO TIME. I'VE TOLD MY DEALER EACH OF THE LAST 3 TIMES I BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE OR FOR RECALLS. THEY HAVE RESET THE COMPUTER AND UPDATED THE SOFTWARE AND SAY THAT IF RUNS FINE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE ON A LONGER TRIP AND IT STARTED MISSING DURING A LATE NIGHT DRIVE TO VIRGINIA. THE MISSING WAS SO BAD I WAS LOOSING POWER. I AM AWARE OF THE FUEL PUMP RECALL THAT WENT OUT ON THIS VEHICLE IN APRIL, BUT ACCORDING TO MY DEALER THE PARTS ARE JUST BECOMING AVAILABLE NOW. I AM ON A WAIT LIST WITH NO DEFINITE DATE TO WHEN MY VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED EVEN THOUGH I BELIEVE I HAVE SYMPTOMS OF A FUEL PUMP FAILURE. I HAVE RECEIVED THE #R09 15V-115 FUEL PUMP RELAY NOTICE AND CONTACTED DEALER, PARTS STILL UNAVAILABLE. EXCEEDS A REASONABLE AMOUNT FOR TIME FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT PARTS NEEDED WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT YET DETERMINED A SOLUTION FOR THE ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DELAY. THE ISSUE WITH MY CAR WAS EXACTLY THE SAME AS ITS SISTER PRODUCT, 2012-2013 JEEP WRANGLER, WHICH WAS RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM - REFERENCE THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NO. 13V234000. THE SAME DESIGN FLAW EXISTS IN THE 2012-2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES AND THESE MODELS ALSO NEED TO BE RECALLED. PROBLEM: THE POWER STEERING RETURN LINE CONTACTS AND WEARS A HOLE IN THE ALUMINUM TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINE. THERE IS NO WARNING LIGHT OR OBVIOUS LOW FLUID LEVELS, SO AN OWNER MAY NOT HAVE ANY WAY TO KNOW WHEN IT HAPPENS. RISK: SUCH A CONDITION CAN RESULT IN A LOSS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID WITHOUT THE OWNER'S KNOWLEDGE, WHICH MAY CAUSE TRANSMISSION DAMAGE AND LOSS OF FUNCTION. RELUCTANT TO DRIVE VEHICLE THAT "MIGHT CRASH W/O WARNING. PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. HAVE EFFECTIVELY LOST USE OF VEHICLE FOR 10 WEEKS. IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER AND WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE SEAT BELT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, THE AIR CONDITIONING AND RADIO WENT OFF. THE CONTACT LOST THE STEERING AND ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED USING PARTS KNOWN TO BE INCLUDED UNDER AN RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
WILL NOT TURN OVER OR START. BOUGHT THIS USED WITH 26500 MILES LESS THAN A MONTH AGO AND THE DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD IT TO ME NEVER REPORTED ANY RECALLS TO THIS VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE HAS SIX RECALLS TO DATE AND JEEP IS SAYING THEY HAVE NO PERMANENT REPLACEMENT PARTS.
I HAVE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH STARTING MY 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE V8 OVERLAND. THE JEEP WILL START BUT WILL STALL RIGHT AWAY. ON MAY 19, 2015 CONTACTED DEALER ABOUT (TIPM) SAFETY RECALL R09/NTHSA14V-115. SERVICE MANAGER STATED TO ME THAT THEY COULD NOT FIX (TIPM) PRESENT TIME BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE PART. SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED TO ME THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE. GAVE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MY CELL PHONE NUMBER AND ASKED TO BE CONTACTED (ASAP) ABOUT RECALL PART (TIPM). I THINK CHRYSLER SHOULD BE MADE BY OUR GOVERNMENT TO BUY BACK MY 2012 JEEP. THIS IS THE (4TH) SAFETY RECALL I HAVE HAD ON THIS JEEP. DEALER HAS NOT FIXED RECALLS IN A TIMELY MANNER. ABRUPTLY STALLING WHILE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. COMPLETE LOSS OF ALL POWER, REQUIRING TO GET OFF THE ROAD, PLACE IN PARK AND RE-START. RE STARTS WITHOUT HESITATION. ON APRIL 27, 2015 I RECEIVED IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL #R09/NHTSA 14V-115 STATING THAT MY VEHICLE HAD A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP RELAY WHICH COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. IN OTHER WORDS A SERIOUS POSSIBLY DEADLY CRASH COULD OCCUR FOLLOWING THE SUDDEN SHUT DOWN OF THE ENGINE AND POWER SYSTEMS. TO DATE, JEEP/CHRYSLER/FCA REPEATEDLY HAS TOLD ME THERE ARE NO PARTS TO REPAIR THE DEFECT AND NO PROJECTED DATE FOR REPAIRS.THE DEALER WILL NOT PROVIDE A SAFE LOANER VEHICLE IN THE INTERIM. SO, I DRIVE A DEADLY VEHICLE (DEADLY FOR MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS) FOR SOME INDETERMINATE PERIOD OF TIME. IF THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AS IT IS REPORTED TO BE, IT SHOULD BE PARKED AND THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER SHOULD PROVIDE AN IMMEDIATE FIX OR AN ALTERNATE VEHICLE. THIS SITUATION IS ABSURD. I RETURNED MY SINGLE AXEL MOTORCYCLE TRAILER TO THE GRAVEL STORAGE LOT AND BACKED IT INTO IT'S SPACE. WITH THE ENGINE IDLING I PUT IT IN PARK, EXITED THE VEHICLE AND DISCONNECTED THE TRAILER FROM THE VEHICLE. I GOT BACK INTO THE VEHICLE TO IDLE IT FORWARD A COUPLE FEET TO ALLOW CLEARANCE FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE TRAILER HITCH FROM THE RECEIVER. WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE I SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE. IMMEDIATELY UPON BEING PUT IN DRIVE THE ENGINE ACCELERATED TO OVER 5,000 RPMS AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD. I TRIED TO SHIFT BACK INTO PARK BUT HIT REVERSE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LURCH BACKWARDS. I CONTINUED TO PUSH THE TRANSMISSION FORWARD INTO PARK AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. ALL THIS OCCURRED WITH MY FOOT FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDDLE. THE INCIDENT LASTED ABOUT THREE OR FOUR SECONDS. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN TO DEALER ON 3/24/15 FOR STALLING ISSUES AND OTHER SAFETY RECALLS. CAR HAD NOT STARTED ON AT LEAST 4 OCCASIONS UP UNTIL 3/24/25. I WAS TOLD THE KEY FOB BATTERIES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT MAY FIX THE ISSUE. I PAID TO HAVE BOTH BATTERIES REPLACED. ON 5/4/15 I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE NOT STARTING ISSUE HAD BECOME MORE EXTREME. IT OCCURRED 8 TIMES SINCE THE 3/24/15 SERVICE AND ON ONE OCCASION IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. THERE WAS AN EXTREME DELAY AND SUDDENLY THE CAR REACTED AND LURCHED FORWARD. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT HAD EVER DONE THIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR WARNING SENSOR AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE SENSOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE SPEED BEGAN TO DECELERATE. WHILE DRIVING ON A RAINY DAY, MY CAR SHUT OF-AT THE TIME I WAS DOING APPROX 50 MPH. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE AND RESTART THE CAR. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH MY 2012 GRAND CHEROKEE. ALL OF THE EXTERNAL LIGHTS MODULES ---HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS--- WENT OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THEN THE CAR SOMETIMES WOULDN'T START. THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP ON 1/28/2015. THE CODES THAT WERE SET SAID THE ENGINE HAD A MISFIRE AND THE LEFT HEAD WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED ON THE ENGINE. I LOOKED THIS UP ON THE INTERNET AND THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 3.6 LITER V-6 PENTASTAR ENGINES. IT APPEARS THAT CHRYSLER SAID THIS PROBLEM ONLY EXISTED IN HALF OF 1% OF THIS TYPE OF ENGINE. REPAIR INVOLVES DISABLING OF FUEL PUMP RELAY IN TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) AND INSTALLING EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY. FAILURE ALSO RESULTED IN FAILURE OF VALVE SPRING.
