While parked for maybe 10 minutes, the service engine and service transmission lights dinged. When putting in reverse it shifted really hard and felt like the car jumped. No problem going in reverse, but would not accelerate very well, couldn’t go over 30-35mph. Going on 2 days now! The code we’ve gotten is “P1DD2”, but no one seems to know what it means. Taking it in Monday morning. Very frustrating and not safe at all!! I’ve read several issues of the same incident(s).
While driving the engine will shut off completely, I’m unable to press the gas pedal to accelerate the vehicle and have to coast my vehicle to a place in order to shut off the vehicle and start it in order to continue driving.
While driving down the road going 55mph, my car suddenly stalled with the "Service Transmission" and "Service Engine" lights and messages appearing. The car would not accelerate. Once safely stopped on the side of the road, the car shifted heavily in park. In order for my car to safely drive, we had to sit with the car off for several minutes. Once cranked again, the service transmission light went off and it would shift into gear without any grinding noise but the Service engine light stayed on. This is the SAME ISSUE REPORTED AND RECALLED with the PCM Voltage Regulator Chip. It has done this FIVE TIMES while driving down the road, and countless others while idling in park. This is a safety hazard. Though the VIN dictates it is not part of the recall, my car clearly is.
My jeeps auto start stop has had issues since the day I got it. Ive taken it back to jeep servicing multiple times and all they do is resent the card computer. The car still moves while in park, the car shuts off while driving on the highway (55mph) it slows down, shuts off and does start for a few mins. The entire right passenger side wheel broke off the car. The car jumps forward which cause a accident back in 2018-2019 a few months right after getting the car. The car jump forward while making a turn going 10mph.
I have had several lights flash on my dash (I have videos) and car would not start without a jump start. I took it to a dealership that told me I needed two new batteries (needing these because the vehicle ruined the two I had). I took my vehicle to a battery store for them to install batteries, as soon as I left the pull over safely the car is going to shit down came on, on highway I finally found a place but not before the car started putting several warming lights on and check engine light on again, then lurching slowing to no acceleration and stopping in the middle of the road no power, none not even enough to power the door locks. This is the 3rd attempt at fixing this issue without any help from Chrysler that my Vin should be included in the U87 recall I...
My vehicle has nearly killed my entire family multiple times now, stalling out on the highway going 75 miles an hour, shutting off because I turned a corner, rarely starting and having to buy a jump box because my vehicle doesn't want to start due to have a bad PCM according to U87 recall that my VIN isn't included in. I have been lied to by your staff every single time I have called, I am hopeful to get the class action lawsuit that so many states have going on in Missouri as well. My vehicle is extremely dangerous and going to kill my family it will be your fault it, I will ensure that an attorney is well aware of the lack of empathy, the lack of action your company has done, and downright refusal to do the necessary repairs to make my vehicle safe.
In April my vehicle started stalling when I would turn the corner. Then it died when my son and I were going down the highway at full speed. It just stopped running I had no power to move anymore. Then it would not sure off so I could start it again, now it is hit or miss if it will start I had to buy a jump box so I could go to the store or work. Today the auto start light came on, I am in fear for my families safety. I have reported it to Chrysler multiple times, taken my vehicle to two different dealerships all refusing to help the second dealer refuses to look at it to determine what the issue could be without me paying them first. I am scare we are going to stall again in the highway and get killed. Please help.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while coming to a complete stop, the vehicle would stall. The contact had to restart the vehicle in order to drive again. The failure would occur 3 times every week. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer test drove the vehicle for 16 miles, however, the dealer could not replicate the failure. The vehicle was then taken to another dealer Cerritos Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM (18803 Studebaker Rd, Cerritos, CA 90703) but the dealer could not replicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer Cerritos Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to another dealer for diagnosis. The manufacturer also opened a case but denied buying back the vehicle. The failure mileage was 49,239.
COOLANT TEMPERATURE SHOOTS UP (HOT) FOR 5 -30 SECONDS THEN ENGINE STALLS. CAN'T RESTART OR STALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. HAS HAPPENED STATIONERY, IN MOTION, TURNING, FREEWAY AND CITY STREETS. I HAVE A 2018 JEEP COMPASS LATITUDE AND ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS HAVE HAD THE CAR STALL AT RED LIGHTS WHEN SHUTTING OFF FROM BRAKING, WHEN RELEASING MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE WITH OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND ME. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO ME IN DRIVE THRUS WHILE STOPPING TO PAY AND AT STOP SIGNS, ALL DOING THE SAME THING AFTER BRAKING AND THE AUTOMATIC START/STOP ENGAGING. MY CAR FLASHED A WARNING TO "STOP SAFELY VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF SOON" AND CAR SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET! THERE IS A POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE RECALL FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL BUT MINE WASN'T INCLUDED, I GUESS. A CAR GOING DOWN THE STREET AND SUDDENLY COMING TO A COMPLETE, UNINITIATED STOP IS EXTREMELY SCARY AND DANGEROUS. I WOULD THINK IF THIS IS HAPPENING, THEN THE PCM SHOULD BE REPLACED, BUT THE DEALERSHIP ISN'T ON BOARD WITH THIS. THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO SINCE THEY CAN'T RE-CREATE THE ERROR. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE START/STOP FEATURE WAS ENGAGED. WHEN MY FOOT WAS TAKEN OFF THE BRAKE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO. I PUT IT IN PARK AND TRIED TO RESTART IT AND IT WOULD NOT RESTART. THE BATTERY WAS NOT DEAD AS THE LIGHTS WERE WORKING AS WELL AS MANY WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IN THREE YEARS THAT THIS VEHICLE WILL GO TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE. THE DIAGNOSES SEEMS TO BE DIFFERENT EACH TIME, BUT ULTIMATELY I TAKE IT IN FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND IT STILL HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. I HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR WHEN IT WAS JERKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING. FINALLY THE SHOP FOUND THE PROBLEM VALVE STICKING. THEY REPLACE IT.
CAR SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN ON ME AUTOMATICALLY WHILE PULLING ONTO HIGHWAYS AT 60MPH IT ENGAGED PARKING BRAKE AND DISPLAYED A MESSAGE ON SCREEN THAT STATED "PLACE SHIFTER INTO PARK AND RESTART". I HEADED FOR THE DEALERSHIP INSTANTLY. AFTER OIL CONSUMPTION TEST IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD BE REPLACED. ENGINE WAS REPLACE MID NOVEMBER 2020. NOT EVEN 3000 MILES ON THE NEW ENGINE IT ONCE AGIAN STALLED OUT AND ENGAGED PARKING BRAKE. OIL IS NOT LOW. "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" IS ON AND CAR BOGS DOWN WHEN ACCELERATED. CAN NOT DRIVE IN NORMAL TRAFFIC. ALMOST LIKE TRANSMISSION IS GOING. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN UNDER 2YRS OLD AN ITS OUR ONLY CAR! DURING ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION (MOSTLY ON INCLINES OR HIGHWAY TRAVEL), THE SHIFTING OF THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO "SLAM" INTO DIFFERENT GEARS. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THEY CANNOT CHECK FOR ISSUES WITH THE DRIVETRAIN IF THERE ARE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY BUT IS INCREASING IN FREQUENCY.
VEHICLE RANDOMLY OVERHEATS THEN GETS BACK TO NORMAL. VARIABLE VALVE ACTUATOR FAILED. AND ALSO CAUSING MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRE. SWISHING NOISE OCCURS AS WELL.
AUXILIARY BATTERY IN THIS CAUSING MAJOR OTHER ISSUES WITHIN THE CAR. CAUSING POWER TO TRANSMISSION TO BE DELAY AND RESULTING IN BOTH YOUR CHECK ENGINE AND CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHTS TO BE ACTIVATED.

THEY SAID IT NEEDED A COMPUTER UPDATE. 2) 12/06/2020 1 MONTH LATER, DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY HOME FROM WORK AT NIGHT, CAR DID IT AGAIN, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER SITTING, IT STARTED, BUT WOULD NOT RUN OVER 25 MPR. TODAY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY CAR STARTED TO JERK WHICH THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT POPPED UP WITH THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT SAYING IT NEEDED TO BE SERVICED. ONCE THAT APPEARED IN THE MIDDLE OF ME DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE. IT STALLED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WHERE EVERYONE IS DRIVING 65 MPH AND IT GAVE ME NO TIME TO MOVE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON. ONCE THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IT JERKED AND THE POWER ON THE CAR WENT OFF, SO IT PUT IT ON EMERGENCY BRAKES AND SAID TO STEP ON BRAKE AND PUSH START. VEHICLE HAS RANDOMLY SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING STREET OR HIGHWAY. SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING AND CAR DECELERATES WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. BACK UP CAMERA INSTRUMENT PANEL INTERMITTENTLY DOES NOT WORK. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AFTER BEING IN MOTION, I OFTEN GET AN ERROR MESSAGE FOR THE TRANSMISSION FOLLOWED BY A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE VEHICLE HAS A HARD TIME SHIFTING. BY THIS, I MEAN THAT WHENEVER I SHIFT INTO ANOTHER GEAR THE VEHICLE STALLS THEN HAS AN ABRUPT SHIFT THAT MOVES THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT TURNED OFF FOR A MINIMUM OF 30MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT EXCEEDS SPEEDS OF 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE ALSO CONTINUES TO MAKE A NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS BEING FORCED INTO MOTION.

DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK AND NO OTHER PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. I AM 1000 MILES AWAY FROM AN OIL CHANGE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THESE CARS CONSUME OIL EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS THAT MEANS 5 QUARTS OF OIL HAS BEEN CONSUMED IN BETWEEN MY OIL CHANGES. I DO NOT TRUST DRIVING THIS CAR MYSELF OR WITH MY FAMILY....

THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO EXCEED 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO COMMONWEALTH DODGE RAM (6408 PRESTON HWY, LOUISVILLE, KY 40219 (502)785-8360), TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR PROVIDE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED BUT FAILED TO FIX THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,468. *BF*JB
I OWN A MANUAL 2018 JEEP COMPASS WITH AROUND 14,000 MILES. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW. I NOTICED, AND NOT SURE IF IT IS A COINCIDENCE OR NOT, AFTER THE CAR HAS IDLED A BIT. THE FUEL HAND IS INACCURATE I HAD A HALF A TANK OF GAS STARTED IT AND IT RANDOMLY SAID I HAD 423 MILES TO E WHICH IT HAS NEVER SAID NOT EVEN WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS EVER SINCE THEN IT'S LIKE IT DRINKS THE GAS IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE GETTING MORE THAN 120 MILES A TANK A GAS EVERY TWO DAYS I HAVE TO PUT GAS IN IT OR THE GAS HAND IS LYING. AT THE END OF FEBRUARY 2020 MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS ENGINE WOULD SEIZE, WHILE I WAS DRIVING. IT WOULD SHUT OFF, AND AUTOMATICALLY PUT ON THE PARKING BRAKE. I WOULD NO LONGER BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE, I'D LOSE POWER STEERING, AND THEN IT WOULD STRUGGLE TO RESTART. THIS OBVIOUSLY PUT ME AT HIGH RISK FOR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR BEING INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. I'VE BEEN GETTING THIS CAR SERVICED EVERY 2-3 MONTHS FOR THE SAME ISSUE SINCE I FIRST LEASED IT IN JULY 2018. I'VE BEEN SAYING IT'S A TRANSMISSION ISSUE, I GET IGNORED. MULTIPLE TIMES THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT FLASHES. IN A FEW INSTANCES THE CAR STALLS AND DOESN'T WANT TO START BACK UP LEAVING YOU STUCK. LUCKILY WE'VE NEVER BEEN HIT WHEN THIS HAPPENS. USUALLY HAPPENS GOING UP A HILL OR AROUND A BEND. OIL LEVEL IN CAR IS GOOD AND CHANGED EVERY 3-5000 MILES. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE CAR IS FULLY WARMED UP OR COLD ENGINE. DOESN'T MATTER IF GAS LEVEL IS AT A 1/4 OR 3/4 TANK. I CHECKED FOR RECALLS AND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM IN THE PREVIOUS MODEL YEAR BUT IT SAYS IT'S NOT FOR MY VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH IT'S THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF FREEWAY, I WAS LUCKY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME, SO FAR THREE TIMES IT HAPPENED. EVERY TIME WHEN IT HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING THE CAR. THE WAY IT HAPPENS FIRST MY SPEED WILL REDUCED EVEN THOUGH I WAS PUSHING THE GAS, AND SUDDENLY STOPS.
ON 12/12/2019 AT APPROXIMATELY 8:30PM I WAS DRIVING EASTBOUND I-80 IN UTAH TRAVELING ABOUT 65MPH. AT MILE MARKER 130 AT THE ENTRANCE TO PARLEYS CANYON AS I TRIED TO ACCELERATE MY VEHICLE STALLED, LOOSING POWER. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD BUT NEARLY REARENDED AND SEVERAL SEMI'S NEEDED TO DO QUICK MANUEVERS TO AVOID COLLIDING WITH ME. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS AND IT WAS SUDDEN POWER LOSS NOT PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED BUY I EXPERIENCE A SIMILAR LACK OF POWER/ACCELERATION. I DO NOT FEEL THIS IS SAFE TO DRIVE AND I HAVE TOWED IT TO A JEEP DEALER.
WHEN MY VEHICLE HITS 47 MPH IT STARTS MAKING A VERY LOUD HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. THE NOISE CONTINUES TO BE PERSISTENT UNTIL I SLOW DOWN TO LESS THAN 30 MPH.
