The coolant warning system came on, I added coolant. Several weeks later the car began white smoking from exhaust. I towed it to a mechanic. He informed me the head gasket had blown. He began to repair, and found the block was cracked. I did not repair the vehicle and it was towed to my home.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. Additionally, there was coolant leaking into the engine. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed and confirmed the coolant was leaking into the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Coolant intrusion between #2 and #3 cylinders from poor design of engine block.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated he was able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with an oil leak into the cylinders and engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; a case was filed and then closed because the manufacturer stated that the vehicle out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 56,720.
I was told by the dealer that my car has an engine block defect. It leaks coolant into the cylinder head and can cause the engine to overheat and can cause a fire or the engine to blow up.
Coolant intrusion in the second cylinder causing engine failure. This is a known design flaw and ford will not fix it because its out of warrenty.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 20-25 MPH, there was a significant amount of white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact returned to the residence and parked the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 79,400.
I bought my car new at AutoNation st the end of 2015. I serviced it there the whole time I had it. The check engine light came on back in may. They said it was a spark plug. The car ran for a few weeks and the check engine light came back on. I tried getting it back into AutoNation. They wouldn't return my phone call for over a week. So I decided to take it to Spritzer in Hartville. They diagnosed it as coolant leaking into the engine cylinders due to a defective engine block. That they've known was a problem for years. Spritzer told me that they get a few in every month with the same problem. I feel Ford has sold these Echoboost engines knowingly to the public. I was told my car was out of warranty and I have to trade it in or pay $11,000...
Coolant reservoir was empty. Filled it and was low in a few days. Also started getting P302 check engine error for Cylinder 2 Misfire. That in combination with coolant leaks shows that coolant is intruding into cylinder 2. Most likely through the design grooves in Engine. This defect should be covered under a recall.
Vehicle won’t start so I called my roadside/towing assistant number got someone out to do battery jump service because I been through this before twice come to find out that wasn’t the issue might needed more gas still wasn’t the issue so I got the vehicle towed to a shop it came back I needed the dealership to reprogram the vehicle they couldn’t because it wasn’t drivable so I got it towed to another shop just for them to tell me I need a new engine they didn’t know what cause the problem but just off what they seen while doing a diagnostic was low compression on all cylinders oil full and normal color (not brunt) coolant is full and clean warranty doesn’t want to cover parts that’s needed for the vehicle like cylinder head gasket check engine light always came on after repairs was fixed
Check engine light came on as the car started riding and idling rough. Took my car to Firestone and they hooked car up to computer and pulled codes. Engine misfire in cylinder 4. They weren't confident what the issue/fix was, so they recommended that I take to the Ford dealership to have them assess. Dealing with the dealership was a nightmare and after staying on top of them for 10 days, I finally was able to get a diagnosis that it was my spark plugs. Not wanting to wait another 10 days for a fix, I took the car back to Firestone since Ford had said what the issue was. Firestone changed the spark plugs and problem was resolved. The next day, check engine came back on and was riding/idling rough. Took back to Firestone. It was a misfire in cylinder again and they changed all 4 spark plugs again...
I got into an accident around May 3rd. Roughly around 11 pm to 12 am. To inform whomever is reading, none of the issues I will list have happened prior to this event. At the accident my car would not turn on, and it would not lock. As well as a piece of the car had broke off. I took my car to Mike's auto body for repairs. When the person inspecting the car had reviewed what was wrong with my 2016 Ford Fusion, I was informed part of the issue was the starter. I was informed by Nick a staff member of Mike's auto body, that the piece was replaced. After I had picked up my car on June 6, 2023 as per the receipt from my payment. The first time the event happened was on around June 6th to June 20th (I know it happened on a rainy...
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle there was white smoke coming from the exhaust tip. The contact inspected the vehicle and became aware that the coolant level was low. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that there was coolant intrusion into the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N12 (Short Block Replacement After Coolant Intrusion). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.
Engine was overheating during a short, 5 mile drive to a local bakery. I Took it to a mechanic and they told me that coolant had leaked into the number two cylinder and messed it up so bad I needed a new engine. I got a second opinion from the Ford dealership and they told me the number one and two cylinder were damaged and I needed a new engine. The car only had 104,000 miles on it.
My check engine light starting coming on and off intermittently. After a week of this going on, I took it to a ford dealership for a diagnostic. I had taken it to auto zone prior to the appointment and their diagnostic indicated a cylinder 2 misfire. They told me it was probably a coil or spark plug that needed replacing but to follow up with the ford dealership. The ford dealer informed me at my appointment that the engine coolant was low and had been leaking into the engine. Told me it would require a short block replacement and quoted me almost $13,000!! The car has never had any problems and only has 88,000 miles. After researching this problem, ford has had numerous complaints about the safety issues this could cause and even appears to have had recalls at some point previously. If so, I never received anything and there...
Water intrusion on #3 cylinder in motor. Ford won’t cover the expense.
coolant leak, problems with block, problems with head gasket, blowing white smoke. (1.5L ecoboost)
The defect is the fly wheel. Was advised by a mechanic that the fly wheel breaks due to an oil pump issue or a tab inside the transmission itself. had to replace a broken fly wheel twice in 8 months. Looing up complaints and recalls it's the same motor and issue the edge was having. costing so far over 4500 dollars . The issue has been lloked at by 3 mechanics and now its back in a tranmission shop being looked at due to tranmission issues and broken fly wheel again . driving and there has been sound etc in the transmission area. lossing power and finally the car stopped . would not go in gear or move. had to be towed . first bill 685 dollars now looking at 5200. car only has approx 92000 miles same motor that the edge has been havong problems etc. this motor needs...
The engine coolant leaked into the cylinders as a result the car had rough idles and startups with overheating issues as well we dying on me completely while driving. Confirmation on coolant leak by big o tires, solution is new engine. There was a cylinder 3 misfire code with the check engine light.
I take it to mechanic they say my car have transmission problems is making lot noise and stop and go really crazy. The dealer say there is nothing wrong with car. The. Brakes sometimes get me scared when I drive I feel we r not safe. No and they can’t fix it because they don’t have the part for the brakes. The msg was check owner manual something like that which can mean lots different problems in ur vehicle.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was running rough before overheating. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact added coolant. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed there was coolant in cylinder #2 and there was coolant on spark plug #2. The contact was informed that the long block designed too thin, which caused the coolant to run off. The contact stated that failure was related to NHTSA ID Number: 10174400 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was contacted and declined to provide additional assistance. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
My car has an internal engine coolant leak, also known as coolant intrusion. I have found online that this coolant intrusion issue is a defect in 1.5 liter ecoboost engines such as the one in my 2016 Ford Fusion SE. Now my car's coolant does not hold above the minimum level required which lead to overheating, and white smoke coming from the car, as well as a burning smell of coolant. No warning lamps or indication of overheating came on in the dashboard as these issues happened either. Now I have to replace the entire engine out of my own pocket because Ford has known about this issue, but failed to recall the engines as I can assume that they hope the coolant intrusion happens after enough time/miles driven passes that the affected driver's warranty is out of date, as is the case with me.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that on several occasions, an abnormally loud clattering sound was heard after starting the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the long block needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was advised to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
I purchased my car on 9/22/21 with 103,000 miles as well as opting into the extended warranty offer. Since then, I have had a LOT of issues. It was taken to the dealership on 8/1/22 due to an issue with acceleration; the car would stop operating while driving to a point where I’d have to pull over, turn it off, then turn it back on. The check engine light would come on with code P0299. I had to pay for the repair since it was deemed it was a vacuum leak...which wasn’t covered in my warranty. The issue returned shortly after, so my car returned to the dealership on October 3,2022. The diagnostics indicated I needed a new transmission, so I didn’t receive my car back until November 19, 2022. Shortly after receiving my car back, I noticed coolant leaking to the bottom of the engine. There is also white...
Coolant started leaking into the engine block. Appears that the reason for this leaking into the engine is because of a design flaw that Ford is aware of in the ecoboost versions of their engines. The vehicle is now un-driveable because of the risk of overheating and safety risks.
Coolant is leaking into the engine. Ford fusion ecoboost essentially has a coolant intrusion. Ford knew about this and still won't it.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V162000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact also stated that an abnormal clunking sound was coming from the front end of the vehicle with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle started to lose forward momentum. The contact stated that the engine started to misfire and vibrate after each misfire. The contact stated that when the engine misfired, the vehicle nearly stalled. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated during the misfire. The contact stated that when he manually downshifted, the check engine warning light would flash on and off. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that that a piston had melted. The mechanic stated that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.
Purchased car 2 months ago. Vehicle started overheating and was towed to the local ford dealership. Was called and quoted $14,400 to replace the engine due to an issue that Ford apparently knows about and has a class action suit against them for. Car is only 7 years old and should not need an entire engine.
I noticed that my coolant in the reservoir kept getting low. I will add coolant every other day. Then I noticed my tailpipe left a trail of white smoke. Then a check engine light came on. I scanned the code and showed P0302. A misfire in cylinder two. I began reading that thai is a common issue. My car only has 87,000 Miles.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was shuddering. The message "Engine Coolant Over Temperature" was displayed. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact stated upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle shuddered significantly and made abnormal knocking sounds. The contact stated that after the vehicle remained stationary for a while, the vehicle responded as needed; however, there was dark smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the ignition coils were replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring increasingly, and the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to another independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion in...
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving 35 MPH on a mountainous roadway and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact continuously depressed the brake pedal until the vehicle responded. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that she continued driving and the vehicle lost motive power nearby an independent mechanic shop. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The independent mechanic was unable to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V162000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer...
Engine on my 2016 has coolant leaking into the engine through cylinder 2. This is a known issue and Ford has not done anything to correct issue. Dealership says engine is bad and wants over $8K for a new engine. Ford should do right by it’s loyal customers.
Cylinder two misfire diagnosed with having coolant run into the cylinder. This can cause fires and cause car to stop causing potential road hazard. Dealership said engine is no good and this is a ford known issue for this type of engine but there are no ford backed fixes and it would cost me $8k for a new engine in order to be road safe. This needs to be brought up yo fire and they should fix this known issue on eco boost engines.
Coolant is leaking into the engine cylinder. I have to fill my coolant every 2 weeks. Ford says the fix is to replace my engine. My engine has 97000 miles and is outside of warranty.
Coolant leaking into Cylinder 1 causing the spark plug and ignition coil to be replaced. Replaced the parts and Engine light came on again. Called Ford and they are not willing to investigate the problem nor fix the problem. Was told that since my engine was built out of the Flat Rock assembly plant, it was not on the recall list.
My fusion is experiencing a coolant leak in the engine. After research, I have found it is a KNOWN problem by ford, that several people are experiencing. They are refusing to issue and recalls or cover any repair costs associated with the issue.
I've had my Ford Fusion for about 9 months now I have white smoke coming out of the exhaust. I asked was it the head gasket and was told no. I was told it was a cracked radiator, water pump and thermostat. Cost me almost $1,700. Only for the white smoke to come back a week later.
I've had my ford for almost a year and found that coolant was getting into my engine and causing it to overheat and went to get it checked out at a Ford dealership only for them to tell me I would have to buy a new engine I can't afford. I've been looking online at all the problems that could arise if I don't switch the engine like the car starting on fire in hot summer days and can't afford to buy a new car as I had to get a loan for it and can't even drive it much for worry of anything happening. It's my main source of transportation to work and without it I could lose my job. I can't afford to get a new car and another loan for that as well while paying for my ford's loan. I've tried to do research for a recall...
The airbag sensor keeps popping on and off in the car… Also, the car is not shifting properly between gears… There is supreme hesitation involved.. there is so much noise coming from the steering column and/or the airbag system.. just out of the blue
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at approximately 65 MPH, the engine started to misfire, and the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the power steering and brakes functioned as needed. The contact was able to pull over safely. The contact stated that he was able to restart the vehicle after numerous attempts however, the RPM’s were fluctuating. The contact stated that the engine was idling rough for about 15 minutes. The contact stated that the misfire and stalling failure were intermittent but were more frequent during cold weather starts. The contact had not taken the vehicle to be diagnosed by a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact had been advised over the phone by a manufacturer’s representative that the failure was known and diagnosed in Technical Service Bulletin Number: 192139. The...
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was flashing on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that the vehicle was losing coolant very quickly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with engine failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the VIN. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Two days ago on 12/29/22 I noticed white smoke coming from tailpipe. Later that day noticed the coolant level very low. Later on that day started the vehicle and it violently shuttered for about 5 or 6 seconds after starting. This same thing had happened to my daughter the day before. On 12/30/22 was at mechanics discussing catalytic converter issue due to an alarm and he noticed the smoke. I told him about the low coolant level and the violent starting. He said these motors (1.5l Ecoboost) are notorious for having a cracked cylinder wall and that I probably had that or a blown head gasket. He said he determined this due to the white exhaust smoke and smell and the coolant level being low and the violent startups. I came home and began online research. There are thousands of these claims on these motors as well as a lawsuit...
Flex Plates in Ford Fusions with EcoBoost engines are continuously breaking. They have a recall issued for Ford Edge 2016 with the same engine as Ford Fusion 2016 but none for the Fire Fusion. Once these break you can lose power while driving which can be extremely dangerous if on a highway. There is clearly an issue with the flex plates used and a recall should be issued to fix these.
I took my 2016 Fusion in to have the timing belt changed after crossing the recommended 125,000 miles. I received a call from the head mechanic telling me that they had halted all work due to evidence of coolant leaking into the engine. He told me that this was a common defect/design flaw found in these cars that Ford has yet to issue a recall on. He then quoted me an exorbitant number for complete engine replacement. A number I cannot afford. Another Fusion was in their bay that day with exactly the same problem. They had already extracted the engine from it and showed me the area of the engine that was so poorly designed. I took photos, as it was the same engine in my vehicle. The channels for coolant to flow between cylinders in the block were made too large, thus causing the block walls to become...
Received a mssg on the car panel that car temp was too high & this vehicle was in the shop for several weeks back in July for something related to the engine.
Engine coolant leaking from the head gasket due to poor engine design. Safety of passengers in and outside the vehicle. Vehicle was running hot and possibly could have caused A major malfunction and blew the engine. This has been confirmed by a dealership and an independent service dealer. The check engine light only threw codes for a cylinder 2 misfire. After replacing all spark plug. the problem of the leaking coolant was then noticed without a warning light.
Coolant intrusion leak busted a block and now I need a new engine. I took good care of this car. It all of a sudden started running hot, water sloshing sounds, engine light came on. Took it to Ford auto shop in Wiggins Ms where it was purchased by my son in law and then I payed him $16,000 cash for it and only had it a year. It all happened so fast on the interstate bridge and it was very dangerous because the car shut down quick and I had to call a tow truck. Please help me get another engine this is so wrong. I hate to know this could happen to someone else with a Ford Fusion and cause a fatality. This problem is 100 percent Fords responsibility.
While driving around 35 mph I turned on cruise control and shortly after lost acceleration and power to the engine. I put the vehicle in park and pressed the engine start and the engine turned back on like normal. The next day while driving I lost power again while going about 15 mph. The car randomly loses acceleration and pressing the accelerator does nothing. The "Full Accessory Power Active" message popped up. The check engine light is on and shows code P1450. This is so dangerous since you have no warning and it can happen at any time and any speed. I am taking the car into the dealer to inspect.
Check engine light continually comes on and off since August 2022. I currently have 56642.0 miles on vehicle and always get routine maintenance and oil changes. Never had this issue untill this year. Please look into this issue Ford. Next week I will have a diagnostic done and will file another complaint if this is a serious and expensive engine service I will need. Thank you.
