2016 FORD FUSION Latcheslockslinkagesdoorslatch Problems

ON 23OCT2023 I opened the Driver's side rear door in my garage. When I went to close the door it would not latch. After several failed attempts I taped the door closed and drove the car to the local FORD dealership for service. The latch mechanism was replaced on 27OCT2023. On 01DEC2023 I received an email notice from NHTSA regarding a possible recall for the door latches in my vehicle (2016 Ford Fusion), 23V775.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the door latch failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the driver’s side rear door had malfunctioned and failed to lock securely. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the door was replaced. The failure reoccurred on the driver’s side door. The vehicle was returned to the dealer and diagnosed with a similar failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.

While driving the drivers door came open. This happened to the passenger door about 10 months ago. I check and there is a recall for the safety latch on other 2016 Ford Fusions but not for my vin #. There was no warning it just flew open while making a right turn.

The dealer also advised the contact that he would be responsible for the cost of the repair because the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified the failure but referred the contact to NHTSA. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 117,600.

My driver side door will not close. I noticed this when I tried to shut the door and it just bounced open. No Warning! I do not feel safe driving around, knowing my door can open and have myself flung from the vehicle. Same issue as the 20V177000 recall but somehow my car is not under this recall. I purchased this car in New Hampshire but have lived in Arizona since 2017.I see this recall is due to high temperatures and know this is the issue as I take care to never slam my doors. I’ll be taking it to Jim Click Ford dealership for repairs ASAP but I hope to be reimbursed for this in the coming months.

CONSUMER STATED BOTH DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND DRIVER SIDE BACK DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. LATCH IS PREVENTING THE DOORS FROM LOCKING.*JB

ON NOVEMBER 25, 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:00 PM, MY SON OPENED THE DOOR WITH A DEFECTIVE CHILD SAFETY LOCK WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY IN MARYLAND. AFTER WE QUICKLY PULLED OVER, WE WERE UNABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR AS THERE WAS A METAL PIECE BLOCKING THE CLOSING MECHANISM. WE CALLED EMERGENCY ROAD SIDE SERVICES AT 5:20 PM AND WAS TOLD A TOW TRUCK WOULD BRING US ANOTHER CAR WITH AN ETA OF 8:27 PM. FOUR CALLS WERE MADE UP TO 10:41PM TO FIND OUT WHEN THE TRUCK WOULD ARRIVE. WE WERE CONSISTENTLY TOLD THERE WAS A DELAY DUE TO HOLIDAY TRAFFIC. THE NEXT MORNING AT 8:03 AM, ANOTHER CALL WAS MADE TO DETERMINE THE STATUS OF THE ISSUE. WE WERE TOLD THE FASTEST WAY TO GET A CAR WOULD BE TO GO TO THE LOCAL BUDGET RENTAL LOCATION BUT WHEN WE ARRIVED WE WERE TOLD...
