The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the door latch failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that a year later while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear driver’s side door inadvertently opened. The door ajar light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
