I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, AND THE ENGINE STOPPED. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND TURNED OFF THE KEY TO RESET THE ALARM CODE. THE CAR STARTED AND DROVE NORMALLY FOR ABOUT 2 MILES, THEN THE ENGINE STOPPED AGAIN. WITHIN 5 MILES THE CAR WOULD BARELY RUN AT ALL, THE ENGINE WAS MIS-FIRING AND CLUNKING ALONG AT 2 MPH AND STALLING EVERY FEW FEET. I HAD NO PREVIOUS INDICATIONS OF A PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE, AND THEN WITHIN 5 MILES IT WAS COMPLETELY UN-DRIVABLE. THE PROBLEM WAS FAILURE OF THE THROTTLE BODY, COST $525 TO REPAIR. I WAS LEAVING WORK DRIVING DOWN COLUMBIA PIKE ROAD IN ARLINGTON, VA. @ 3:30 IN THE AFTERNOON ON AUGUST 22, 2013 HEADING TOWARDS INTERSTATE 395. I HAS STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN AND MY 2010 FORD FUSION BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, AS IF IT WAS GOING TO CUT OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I LOOKED AT THE DASH BOARD AND SAW AN ILLUMINATED WRENCH AND COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THE STREET LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I MASHED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR DID NOT HAVE ANY FORWARD MOTION. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE LOCAL STORE AND CAME UP TO A LIGHT. AS I STARTED TO TURN RIGHT AND ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AT ABOUT 1000 RPM'S. I PURCHASED MY 2010 FORD FUSION IN APRIL OF 2012 AND HAVE HAD MANY INCIDENTS OF THE "CHECK FUEL INLET" MESSAGE AFTER FILLING UP. SOMETIMES IT WILL TRIGGER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. I HAVE HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST RAN WHEN THIS HAS OCCURRED AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THAT THE GAS FLAP DIDN'T SEAL PROPERLY WHEN I REMOVED THE FUEL NOZZLE. THIS AGAIN OCCURRED ON AUG. 17, 2013 BUT THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE. THEN ON AUG. 22 I HAD 3 INCIDENTS WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF EACH OTHER. FIRST INCIDENT WAS VEHICLE STALLED WHILE ENTERING A INTERSECTION FROM A STOP SIGN. FORD FUSION 2010 HAS DEFECTIVE ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM/COMPUTER IDENTIFYING THE THROTTLE BODY AS THE NON-FUNCTIONAL PART CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD TO SELF AND OTHERS. AT 60 MPH FREEWAY SPEED THE CAR GOES INTO AN INSTANT "LOW RPM MODE", CAUSING COMPLETE LOSS OF FOOT PEDAL CONTROL AND RPM IMMEDIATELY REDUCED TO 800. AT THIS POINT THE CAR IS AN UNGUIDED MISSILE LOOKING TO STRIKE SOMETHING. THE POWER STEERING IS NON EXISTENT. MY CAR DID THIS ON 8-19-2013 WITH ONLY 12303 MILES ON IT. HE TOLD ME THAT FORD REALLY DOESN'T SEE THE NEED FOR A RECALL AT THIS TIME, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. PEOPLE COULD DIE.
