The brakes went almost completely out- having to push the pedal all the way to the floor. All ABS and braking lights illuminated in the dash. There is limited stopping power. The car has become undriveable, even after replacing the HCU and abs system. The dealership has been unable to reprogram the brakes. This exact issue falls under recall 19s54, but Ford claims my problem does not meet the requirements- despite my vehicle having been assembled at the same facility (Hermosilla) and within the same date range as the recalled vehicles. I have receipts and documents to show all attempts at fixing the issue.
The brakes completely failed pressed pedal all the way down! My son almost died! The brake pads are new!
Ford claims no recall but my Hydralic:antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip control unit/module. My petal is sinking. Did an ABS bleed and problem continues. Could this part be in my car and I just haven’t got a recall
I am reporting a serious safety defect in my vehicle. While driving, the power steering suddenly failed without any warning, resulting in complete loss of steering control. At the same time, the brake warning light, ABS light, and traction control light illuminated, suggesting possible failure of critical braking and stability systems. This incident placed my safety and the safety of others at immediate risk, as the vehicle could not be steered properly and essential safety features may have been disabled. The problem persists, as the vehicle continues to have no functioning power steering and the warning lights remain on. The defective components are available for inspection, and the issue has been reproduced consistently since the initial failure. Given the severity of this malfunction and the danger it poses, I am requesting that a recall be issued to address this defect.
Unintended acceleration event. Entered vehicle, put my foot on the brake, cranked it, held in that position while seatbelting. Engine had a VERY loud revving sound. Within seconds vehicle moving backwards on its own. Foot still on the brake, had not touched gas pedal, had not touched gear shifter, and was still sitting straight forward with my foot on the brake and confirmed gear shifter in park. The car quickly accelerated backwards faster and brake pedal had no effect on stopping or slowing vehicle. Went approx. 30’ across parking lot and only stopped because we hit truck parked behind us. Quickly turned off engine and removed keys. Shifter still shows Park. Careful driver. No history of accidents. I found there were several thousand reported events of unintended acceleration (Ford vehicles 2002 to 2010). Ford tried to explain many as driver error or floor mat touching the gas pedal. My mat...
When Applying Brakes the Brake Pedal application of Foot Pressure Travels to the Floor before Slowing the Vehicle. Can the Manufacturer Repair this Safety Problem emmediately ?
So this has happened three times in the span of a year. When applying the brakes the brake pedal it would go to the floor and several dash lights would come on(service advance trac, wrench light, abs light and parking brake light). As this would happen, we would pull off as safely and quickly as possible and shut the car off. But once we start the car again, everything is fine. When this situation happens, there is a very very high possibility of hitting someone. With doing research and talking to a local mechanic. It is doing the exact same thing as the Safety Recall 19S54 Certain 2006-2010 Model Year Fusion/Milan/MKZ/Zephyr Vehicles Equipped with Anti-brakes. HCU failure. But running my VIN it does not show it being recalled but my vehicle is a 2010 Fusion hybrid.
Brake pedal goes to floor and stopping time is poor. Brake inspection leads to fault as possibly master cylinder or HCU. Master cylinder replaced and issue not resolved. The date range and manufacturing location matches NHTSA recall 19V904000 related to HCU valve issue but my VIN is not indicated. The vehicle is from the Hermosillo plant inside the date ranges indicated.
Was driving down parkway when came up on my exit it was hard to make the turn to even go up. The exit ramp the power steering light and the advanced track light and brake system. Light all came on flashing across the message screen one after another. Thank god I was able to get vehicle pulled over to shoulder and had it towed home. Also needs airbags replaced due to recall! I have contacted two local Ford dealers trying to get an appointment. Also messaged one through their website. On the phone calls I was placed on hold until the phone to shut off. Tried to call back and they just said please hold and put me right back on hold and I’ve never received a message back.
On [XXX] when leaving a shopping center parking lot, the brake system suddenly failed. I was able to press hard on the foot brake to stop the vehicle near the middle of the intersection. I pulled over to a parking space and replicated the issue. The car was towed to West 40 Auto Care on 284 Montvue Lane in Frederick, MD. Today, they told me they could not fix the issue. I made an appointment with the Ford Motor Company on 1 Waverly Drive for 9/15. I drove the car home slowly (about 1 mile) with the emergency lights on and going about 10 mph. Pressing hard on the foot brake will slowly stop the car. ABS icon and Service Advance Trac appear on the dashboard. Yesterday, the brake and wrench lights were also on. The footbrake does not go all the way to the floor. This issue is of...
ABS control module valves stuck open and or closed. Leading to no brakes/ brake pressure. Same issue and part that was recalled on 2006-2009.5 models. Issue has been inspected by Ford dealership in Tigard Oregon (Landmark Ford/Lincoln). Part was removed and sent to a 3rd party shop to be rebuilt per Landmark Ford and was unable to do so. There was 2 or 3 dash lights that came on along with no brakes. The issue first happened [XXX]. Dealership told me they had another vehicle in the shop at the same time with the same issue. Luckily the issue presented itself the morning of [XXX] as my wife was attempting to back out of her parking spot. She was able to pull the e-brake before the car got away from her. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
There is a recall date on this car dating back 2021. I bought this car in 2024. The recall problems was never addressed or fixed. This had created an electrical error in the car, given no airbags, and windows do not roll, nor does it give accurate reads on tire pressure. Unbeknownst of all this, a tire popped nearly cause me to wreck on I-5 early 2024. I have documentation supporting the sale of the car, the replacement of tires, oil changes, repairs & towing incurred all on behalf of this car. I would not have bought it knowing there was a recall that was not addressed. This car is a rebuilt title that has been in accidents.
Hydrologic control and abs unit failed. Ford addressed the issue but did NOT include ever vin that was affected. Almost got into an accident and crashed when my brakes completely failed from a defective part. The problem has been confirmed by a independent service, no warning light or messages. Many other people with this issue that were not covered by the lackluster recall.
I have a 2010 Ford Fusion. Two days ago I was backing out of the parking lot and I had to brake hard to avoid a fast moving car zooming past behind me. After that I noticed the brake was very mushy and I have to press the brake almost to the floor to get the car to stop. I did some research on the internet and found out it was a common problem with Ford fusion between 2006 and 2010 and there is a safety recall 19S54 for the 2006-2010 Ford Fusion. Ford also has an internal Customer Satisfaction program 21N11 that covers the repair of the said issue. However, the recall only covers cars manufactured between February 22, 2006 through July 15, 2009 and my car was manufactured in Dec 2009 and was not included on the recall list. Obviously the problem was not fixed for Ford Fusion...
My brakes failed but I had them changed twice and that wasn’t the problem I had the cylinder change and still no brakes when I bought it it had some issues with the brakes going to the floor
Unknown, I was driving in my wheel stop moving , it’s saying now power steering wheel, for my breaks, it keep saying check brake system
I got a letter from ford awhile ago about my brakes. I brought it in then they stated I was fine. But you have to push my brake peddle all the way to the floor of the car to make my vehicle stop. I feel this is VERY UNSAFE for me and my family, And also others around me if something where to happen do to this problem. We have done multiply things to try to correct the problem with no luck.
While merging onto the interstate the brakes abruptly failed. They didn't respond at all then responded weakly with several attempts. The mechanic said the abs failed.
Brake pedal suddenly got "soft" - pedal has to be pressed further before braking begins and requires more pressure for the same amount of braking prior to the issue. Mechanic replaced brake pads and rotors and master cylinder. This did not correct the problem. Rear brake pads/rotors are wearing abnormally fast. Symptoms are consistent with malfunction of the hydraulic control unit for which there is a recall from Ford Motor Company. Although this vehicle model year (2010) is included in the recall period, my VIN number is not included. There are numerous anecdotal stories on search results for this problem where many Ford Fusion owners have the same problem and also are not included in the recall.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle and depressing the brake pedal, the pedal felt soft and extended to the floorboard. The brake pedal was pressed multiple times to stop the vehicle. The contact indicated that the failure was intermittent. The local dealer was notified of the failure and informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000(SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 175,000.
abs brake system service and advance tract system fault codes/ sign shown on the dash. i was driving 40 mph at the brake peddle had no fed back or pressure and the peddle went to the floor i had to use low gear and E-brake to stop. the vehicle is currently in the auto shop waiting to be worked on.
On [XXX] my car exhibited a problem where the brake pedal was mushy and had to be pushed half way down to stop the vehicle. It felt very unsafe as it happened suddenly and stayed like that. Since I felt unsafe, I took it to my nearest mechanic local shop. He told me that it can be a Master Cylinder issue first and then the HCL. I looked online and found an old recall on Ford fusions 2006-2010 model with recall number 19S54 (DOT Brake Fluid and Anti-Lock Brake System Function). I checked my VIN and there was no recall for my vehicle. It was strange since my vehicle build day was very close to the date mentioned on the recall. On 12/4/2024 at 7:45 AM PST (10:45 EST), I called Ford Dealer (Colley Ford Service) and described the issue and told them about the recall. They did some research...
Brake pedal goes all the way to the floor. Very soft. Needs new abs module but this vin is not affected by the recall. Should be included. I have another 2010 fusion that had the same issue and ford fixed it with the recall. Recall needs to be expanded
As I was driving the vehicle, my ABS and all other brake service lights came on. I stopped driving the car except to take it to the dealership to be assessed and repaired. I had to have a new HCU and ABS module installed as well as brake fluid flush. After driving it off the lot I realized I had to push the brakes all the way to floor and it was still slow to stop. I took it back to the dealership and they bled the brakes again. It still doesn't brake as well as it did before incident. I had these repairs performed in Jan 2024 and recently found out that in April 2021 there was a recall for this same exact problem. I was never notified by mail as I usually am for recalls. I paid for these repairs out of pocket and believe this should have...
Brake pedal randomly drops to floor, spongy brakes. Took to local dealer. My vin number is NOT part of recall. No parts are available.
Under normal driving conditions, I have experienced extended brake pedal travel while braking, accompanied by the activation of the ABS, brake, and traction control warning lights. This issue has recurred multiple times over the past year while driving at speeds up to 65 mph, typically lasting for several days until the warning lights reset and hydraulic/regenerative braking is restored. The failure of the hydraulic braking system poses a significant threat not only to my safety but also to the safety of everyone on the road. Without reliable brakes, the ability to stop effectively is compromised, increasing the risk of accidents and endangering both myself and others nearby. Most recently, this problem persisted for over two weeks. The vehicle was inspected at a Ford dealership, which determined that the ABS module had failed and required replacement. The vehicle is available for further inspection upon request. This failure of the ABS module...
I left my driveway and all of a sudden my abs light came on , I can't remember what it said like and system fault.i pulled over stopped turned car off and back on light hasn't come on since. Then weeks later I was driving and had to brake suddenly to avoid an accident and my breaks gave way. I tried pumping them but they went to the floor and stopping took longer. I pulled into a parking lot stopped.i put it in park, shit off then on they worked fine. But Everytime I apply my brakes when going over bumpy rail road crossings my breaks go to the floor and I can barely stop. Even severe bumps in road when I try to stop causes it.it happens Everytime I go over tracks since the first incident to the point I'm now scared of them.I had a mechanic look at...
Cylinder two the brass fitting came out of the transmission, no power when trying to accelerate, for whatever reason the front driver wheel rubs and messes up the tires, the pcm will throw a wrench symbol from time to time.
When braking, if the ABS is triggered, the brake pedal begins traveling almost to the floor with significantly less braking ability. This seems to align with a known issue (ABS Valve Malfunctions and Stays Open) that has already been recalled in other models.
The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) malfunctioned causing the brakes to give out while I was driving the vehicle. Luckily I was on a residential street and I was able to safely pull over, but it could have caused a major accident had it not happened in that location. After taking it to two auto-shops, both concluded that it was a problem with the ABS system. There is an open recall for the 2010 Ford Fusion for the same exact issue (Recall number: 19S54), however it does not cover the Hybrid model, even though it is the same exact issue. In order to stop the vehicle, I need to press down on the brake pedal very very hard and use the emergency brake. It is not safe to drive, and it is a substantial and costly problem with the vehicle to repair. I would like my car to be part of...
I am experiencing long brake pedal travel similar to recall 19S54, yet my car has not been recalled.
When stepping on the brake pedal, it goes all the way to the floor. I have to pump the brake and then sometimes, it will stop. There were no warning lights. The brakes were replaced but the problem still happened. I had my car towed to the closest Ford dealership. They replaced the Master Cylinder and it still happened. They have now replaced the HCU. My VIN number was not included in the recall NHTSA Campaign #19V904000 which was for EXACTLY what was happening with my car.
Applying brakes on wet pavement. ABS brakes failed. Brake peddle went to floorboard. Braking over uneven surfaces, suchas a speed bump, will also cause ABS to fail, with brake peddle going to the floorboard.
WHEN TRYING TO STOP , EVEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, TAKES A WHILE TO STOP! CONTACTED FORD BEFORE FILING THIS REPORT AND SEARCHING IN INTERNET FOR RECALLS ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM, THERE WAS A REPORT BY CR, THAT ON FORD FUSION MODEL AND FEW OTHER MOTHERS, FORD HAS RECALLED ABOUT 600000 CARS, BUT DIDN'T PROVIDE ME WITH A RECALL CODE FOR A FAULTY BRAKE SYSTEM VALVE THAT DOESN'T FUNCTION PROPERLY! Summary Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly. BUT EVIDENTLY IT DOESN'T COVER 2010 MODELS, PERHAPS SOMEBODY SHOULD LOOK INTO IT, SINCE THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS FAULTY. THANK YOU
Couldn't move steering wheel all of a sudden, drove to store and when I got back in my car, I couldn't turn the wheel and had to get it towed. Nothing happened or changed on the way to the store. When car was first bought, steering would lock up while driving on highway and almost caused accidents multiple times.
there is a recall for 2010 ford fusion for the abs hydraulic control unit release date December 18, 2019 nhtsa campaign number 19v904000 i found this recall after my 2010 ford fusion experienced brake pedal to floor with almost no stopping power. i called the local dealership vogler ford of carbondale il and they told me my vin # is not part of this recall even though im experiencing the exact reason the recall was issued. ford motor company of dearborn they were of no help and was told to contact nhtsa the vehicle is still having the same braking issues
Brakes are spongy and need to be pumped to stop vehicle in a timely manner. Brake fluid flush, brake pads and rotors did not solve the problem. The 2010 Ford Fusion SE has a recall dealing with a similar issue, but my specific VIN is not a part of the mass recall. No warning lamps or messages came on, but the brake pedal almost goes all the way to the floor to stop the vehicle. My safety and another cars safety were at risk because my brakes do not respond quickly enough to come to a complete stop if someone drives out in front of me or if I am simply coming to a stop at a red light or parking. I will be taking my car to the nearest Ford dealership in the next 2 days to have the braking system inspected and confirmed.
Traction control system warning along with notification to check advanced break system. Below is the diagnosis from dealership. This matches with known issue for safety recall 19S54. My car was manufactured approximately 20 days after the window for this recall however it is the exact same issue. Dealer would not repair under recall nor Ford as a goodwill repair. DIAGNOSE AND REPLAC HCUY AND HIDRAULIC MODULE CODE B1342
ABS MODULE IS NOT WORKING. THIS IS HAPPENING TO NOT JUSY MY VEHICLEHOWEVER MANY AS I CAN SEE ONLINE AND WHEN FORD IS TOLD SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH IT THEY SAY ITS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS I ALMOST GOT IBTO A VERY BAD ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE BRAKES WENT TO BEING OK TO SPONGY AND HAD TO PUSH TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THIS CAR. SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIX THIS OR IT WILL END IN SOMEONE GETTING SERIOUSLY HURT OR DYING BECAUSE OF THIS SITUATION.
Lug nuts are all stripped or broken. Check engine light, check fuel fill inlet message, poor driving all around, lack of power. Brake calipers broke off and brake pads fell out. Power steering locks up every once in a while
Anti-Lock brakes controller failed. Cannot brake without car shaking violently. Causes safety issues with controlling vehicle during stop ABS light came on Manufacturer (Ford) has not been able to get the (chip) for over 1 year
ABS and anti skid light are on and those systems don't function. ABS control module is bad and Ford has a recall on this but the VIN for this vehicle doesn't fall under this recall for the same exact model year and part on other recalled cars. All cars with this issue should fall under this recall.
There was no incident this happened after. It literally just started a couple months ago out of nowhere. I tried to diagnose it myself. But the code was b-1342-e0 which is an ECU fault. I paid for a diagnostic to find out it was actually the ABS module sending the fault code to ECU. After some research, it appears 2010 fusions had a history of this ABS issue. Not sure why there is no recall, seeing as this could be a life threatening issue.
The Fusion has been worked on twice now replacing cylinders, however it was recently discovered that the issue is with the ABS Hydraulic Control unit. The car's pedal would push almost to the floor making the stopping power hazardous out of nowhere. After research on this unit, it appears it was a recall for many Fusions but not specifically for this mode. I am filing a complaint as it appears our specific model has the same issue but is not covered under the recall. We have spent over $1000 to get this replaced and seeking a refund.
Brakes lose power --- depress all the way and there's no braking power. Almost got into a serious car crash since I literally could not stop (except for using the ebrake). Check engine light is on. This seems to be an incredibly common and dangerous issue with the older Ford Fusions (I have a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid). Only 105k miles. Dealer recommends replacing ABS Module (among other things).
The hydraulic control module/ABS control unit has malfunctioned, causing the brake pedal to become spongy. The pedal is not firm, and I need to press the brake pedal all the way down to get normal braking force. With normal functioning brakes, you press the pedal down 25%; however, I must press down 75% until I even begin feeling the car slow down. There were no warning lights, and this problem has existed for two years. I have replaced the brakes and bled the fluid multiple times, but the problem persists. I have had very close calls with other drivers where I have not had enough time to stop due to having to press the brake pedal all the way down. This problem is constant and occurs whether I drive in the city or on the highway. The city is especially dangerous due to frequently having to stop for traffic signals...
Never had issues with my car since I had it. But over the past year the cars brakes, if you keep your foot on the pedal, over time it will slowly go closer to the floor. I could stop, but the brakes felt squishy. Biggest problem though is my brakes were working fine, no warning lights, nothing.. Park car turn it off, go into store, come back out and my brakes are not working. The pedal goes right to floor. I had to use my emergency brake to stop. I took car to shop and they said the ABS control module needs replaced. This is a common issue with the 2010 Ford Fusion hybrids.. But there doesnt seem to be a recall on it. He even said when he checked the information there is a recall on that ABS control unit, but when you call Ford, they say my particular...
After the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) was engaged, the braking system was spongy, in that the pedal would almost reach the floor before the brakes started working. It has happened several times, but has gotten worse recently, three times in the past six months. One time it happened when I went over a speed bump. I have to be extremely careful when this happens. Once the vehicle sits overnight it seems to clear up. I try not to use the ABS, but it is winter now and this morning someone pulled out in front of me, and I had to use the brakes aggressively. Again, the braking system became spongy. I am hoping by the end of work today it has been remedied for now. After it happens, I am extremely careful about following other cars, for fear of hitting them. It takes longer to stop because of this. I...
Hi. I’m the owner of 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. VIN: [XXX] Recently, I almost got crushed while I was driving, because I suddenly could not use brakes…this is happened because of the known ABS issue with this car (I called my mechanic, he diagnosed the issue and it is with ABS Module and it is under a recall and should be fixed by a dealer). However, when I got my car to the dealership, I was surprised that it is not a recall for a Hybrid version of Ford Fusion my year and I have to pay from my own pocket almost $5,000 for part and labor. I do not understand why, it is unfair. This is the known issue for a very long time for so many people. It should be recalled and fixed. You can die while you’re driving!!! Here is one of the topics on a forum...
Brakes Failing brakes Not yet No No Going over bumps the ABS got actuated and the brake pedal went to the floor, was mushy. There is a recall but our car does not fall under the dates. Our car manufactured 05/10
