Unintended acceleration event. Entered vehicle, put my foot on the brake, cranked it, held in that position while seatbelting. Engine had a VERY loud revving sound. Within seconds vehicle moving backwards on its own. Foot still on the brake, had not touched gas pedal, had not touched gear shifter, and was still sitting straight forward with my foot on the brake and confirmed gear shifter in park. The car quickly accelerated backwards faster and brake pedal had no effect on stopping or slowing vehicle. Went approx. 30’ across parking lot and only stopped because we hit truck parked behind us. Quickly turned off engine and removed keys. Shifter still shows Park. Careful driver. No history of accidents. I found there were several thousand reported events of unintended acceleration (Ford vehicles 2002 to 2010). Ford tried to explain many as driver error or floor mat touching the gas pedal. My mat...
The power steering has failed. The dashboard showed these two phrases "Service Advancetrac" - yellow "Service power steering now" - red When that happened the first time the dealership was able to fix it under the customer satisfaction program by providing a module software update. But the issue happened again and I believe it is related to the 15V340 recall. I would like that to be investigated.
There is a recall date on this car dating back 2021. I bought this car in 2024. The recall problems was never addressed or fixed. This had created an electrical error in the car, given no airbags, and windows do not roll, nor does it give accurate reads on tire pressure. Unbeknownst of all this, a tire popped nearly cause me to wreck on I-5 early 2024. I have documentation supporting the sale of the car, the replacement of tires, oil changes, repairs & towing incurred all on behalf of this car. I would not have bought it knowing there was a recall that was not addressed. This car is a rebuilt title that has been in accidents.
Advanced power steering light came on and my steering wheel was hard to turn. The body underneath came apart, and the transmission recall is being handled by my attorney.
Power steering failure along with advanced track faulty. Occurred during mid-drive.
I financed a vehicle from Recovery auto in independence Missouri in doing so u mentioned to them I’d be driving to Texas and asked them if the vehicle could make the drive and the responded yes but at no time did the mention there was an active recall on the vehicle I ended up breaking and in calling them they were also surprised when they saw the recall from 2015 in the vehicle and that is the first time it was mentioned to me after being 3 hours away in a different state
Electronic throttle body failure My car lost power going 50 mph in road construction The car had a recall and extended warranty on it from 2014-2024, i was not notified Check engine light, drive shaft light, and service advance trac appeared a few weeks before the failure
Driving on the highway in the fast lane, vehicle suddenly lost all power. A message on the car said “ pull over safely “. No prior warning of anything wrong with the vehicle. I managed to dodge traffic with my hazard lights on and came to a stop on the side of the highway. I inspected the car with no signs of anything wrong. I shut down the car and restarted. Everything came back on and was drivable. This caused me to look online, only to discover that other people are having the same problem as I have described. TOTAL LOSS OF POWER. This is a very dangerous situation to be in, not able to keep moving on a very busy highway.
Was driving down the road and lost my power steering, the power steer assist light is going off have absolutely no power steering from all my research this is a well known issue with this year ford fusion but nothing has been done about it. A recall needs to be done this is a major safety issue and could case accidents even fatalities
There was no incident this happened after. It literally just started a couple months ago out of nowhere. I tried to diagnose it myself. But the code was b-1342-e0 which is an ECU fault. I paid for a diagnostic to find out it was actually the ABS module sending the fault code to ECU. After some research, it appears 2010 fusions had a history of this ABS issue. Not sure why there is no recall, seeing as this could be a life threatening issue.

Driving home from the Dr.'s office the vehicle's RPM suddenly began to increase yet the vehicle was not moving faster; the Wrench icon came on, the vehicles Blind Spot Warning came on, the Speedometer went to zero and the vehicle continued to move forward at regular speed. With less than one mile to get home we were able to continue to drive the vehicle. When the vehicle was shifted into reverse to back the car into the garage, the transmission made a loud bang and jerked the car. The vehicle was driven into the garage. The fluids were checked and all are good. The vehicle was then started again and shifted into drive and the loud bang and jerk happened again. The vehicle has not been driven.
ABS module. Potential safety risk. Huge lawsuit waiting to happen.
Lost turn signal on front of car but have on back air bags or on recall do to Decoty air bags and my steering going down the road went from soft to hard and couldn’t turn my car at all loss of power steering
In regards to this particular issue surrounding the 2010 Fusion: https://www.vehiclehistory.com/articles/2010-ford-fusion-abs-module-recalls-explained My VIN: [XXX] The recall involves replacing the hydraulic control unit to fully restore the function of the ABS for Fusion assembled up to July of 2009. Mine has the exact issue specified, assembled in the exact same plant in Mexico, but was confirmed to be assembled in April 2010. Because of this my Fusion was excluded from the benefits of a free recall service, and the dealership was charging me $2,836 for the ABS module, hydraulic control unit & labor combined. I've since already purchased the two parts & I'm waiting on the labor to be conducted. Is there any way you guys can work with Ford to expand the recall? I'd LOVE to be reimbursed for this. It seems like an oversight by Ford, and it seems unfair that I have to drop nearly $3,000 on the...
The Power Steering Assist Fault would occasionally come on and reset itself if I turn the vehicle off then back on. Well, I was with my partner out and about and got in my vehicle, went to start and the message popped up. So I tried restarting the vehicle and it didn't work. I tried multiple times and to no prevail has it reset. Go figure it happened right after I paid the loan off. We had to wait for a tow truck to arrive have it towed home. I checked fuses and wiring and battery voltages when I got home and everything checked out normally. I contacted a Ford dealership and they said with the parts, labor, reprogram and alignment it could be up to around $2,500.00. I don't have this kind of money laying around. Now I don't have a vehicle to get back and forth to work....
My Fusion has been having the same issues as other Ford Fusions with the electrical power steering, traction control and the tpms system. They have been acting up for months and now the power steering does not work at all. I have talked to my local Ford dealer and the Ford 1800 number and they say since it does not fall within the VIN guidelines they are not responsible for it and they I will have to pay out of pocket for it and if it should ever be recalled for it they would then reimburse me my cost if I kept all of my reciepts. I feel like it should be under recall and Ford have to pay for it.
I was driving on a heavy highway when my power steering stopped working sending me all over the highway. Luckily I was able to pull over without getting hit. We took the car to ace Ford in Woodbury NJ just so they could look at it and was told the whole power steering rack and pinion had to be replaced. I have 112,000 miles. I know the Ford company recalled all 2011 Ford fusions for the same problem. They want me to pay over $2000 I don't have. I didn't have any warning lights until the steering went out. Power steering failure and traction control light. Just boom...gone
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that after she retrieved the vehicle, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the traction control, the tire pressure, the ABS, the service brake warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the brake fluid leaked, the electrical system intermittently malfunctioned and the key fob failed to respond. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
This vehicle has been in our family since new and all recalls and service has been done on schedule. Currently only have 75K miles on it. On January 19, 2023 I was driving the vehicle in question and had a warning pop up saying Check Brake System and Service AdvanceTrac at the same time I lost my brakes and the vehicle lost power but not total power. No warning was given prior to this happening. I was able to stop the vehicle after pushing the brakes all the way to the floor and putting the car in neutral. I was luckily in my neighborhood after driving home in heavy traffic. I was able to get the car to my driveway and after restarting the car the warning went away and my husband drove the vehicle and did not have the issue. I found that Ford had a Customer Service Satisfaction...
I was driving my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid down the highway when suddenly i was unable to steer anymore. I was changing lanes and the wheel locked at an angle causing me to cross multiple lanes of traffic and eventually hitting another car. The car ended up being claimed as a total loss. I am still required to pay more for insurance now because the accident was caused because of my cars steering rack failing and locking. There have been hundreds of complaints describing exactly what happened to me. No warning lights or any other warning signs. Just sudden and total failure. Its more upsetting knowing that the 2011 and 2012 model years had a recall for this but the 2010 did not even though the steering rack has the same exact part numbers. Insurance didnt even do an investigationand i was told it was because theres no way to...
The power steering assist fault came on because of either a tire sensor warning being ignored or evap code P1450 being ignored. Either way my step-son ignored the check engine light apparently for a couple months. Understandable from young driver. Ford motor company programs this and I'm sure other vehicles to interrupt your electric power steering if you keep ignoring a check engine light. Problem now is 1. For them to do that I feel is wrong first off because taking someone's power steering assist away could be very very dangerous if not fatal. 2 both issues have been repaired with new parts. And the codes will not clear from obd2. Ford claims it needs to be driven through several drive cycles for the ecm to reset the codes because a scan tool will not reset a permanent code. Now not only are they casing this problem with their own...
The car has multiple warning lights come on, including "Check Brake System" "Service Advancetrac" and "ABS". The car still brakes but only with much more force and brakes much more slowly. At first it was intermittent but now is stuck in this form. Ford has done a recall for my model (19S54) but my car was built 5 months after the last ones. It was manufactured in the same factory. Based on research, the fix seems to be replacing the ABS module and flushing out the brake fluid. I hope that the recall will eventually extend to later-built cars like my own.
Complete electronic power steering system failure. I cannot turn the steering wheel. This is a safety issue. I was fortunate that it happened in my driveway, but reading on line others have had accidents when their steering failed while driving. No warning lamp indicator was illuminated. A Ford dealership has diagnosed the problem, and said the car requires part replacement(s) that will cost me $2,500. This is already a recall on the 2011 and 2012 model years, and should also be on the 2010.
Abrupt Loss of Power Steering. Faulty Electrical Power Steering. Faulty Electrical Power Steering Assist (EPAS). Faulty Steering Gear Assembly. Dash Lights: SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW SERVICE ADVANCETRAC Issue occurred when turning car off to pump gas, then issue was present when starting car back up. Problem confirmed by Ford Service Center. No warnings prior to issue occurring. Issue occurred unpredictability. Research shows it appears to be a known Ford manufacturing defect with the electrical steering assembly assist parts on these models. 2011 and newer models qualify for a power steering recall, but my 2010 model does not. $2,000-$3,000 repair.
Driving down the highway and the electric steering went out and about crashed due to not being able to turn.
I was driving down the highway interstate 24 with kids in the car around the curls me marker 159 and my steering no warning went out completely hard as hell to turn traffic I spun out trying to over correct it damanage my front clip aka bumper all to hell I saw this complaint when I was searching recalls and common problems with my branded car what do I do for wants an arm and a leg I can't afford to fix the power steering was there a recall on that part or what ever came out of the 550 complaints
The power steering went out on this vehicle and after research I found that other years have had recalls on it. Although this year was not in the recall it still uses the same parts
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after repairing an unknown recall, there was an abnormal noise coming from the A/C. In addition, the A/C was operating heat and not cool air and the contact mentioned the A/C failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the blow motor assembly, blow motor restore, and low-pressure valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 161,288.
2010 model year electric power assisted steering goes out at low speed when making turns, similar to same issue recalled for 2011-2012 model years. The previous recall needs to be expanded to include 2010 model year.
I was driving my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid and as I was approaching a red signal light I applied pressure to my brakes and seen my dash alert me of my ABS system failing and my advanced Trac needs to be serviced due to my brakes not working properly I was almost involved in a serious collision. i had to pull on my e brakes to prevent injury, in result off I pulled off into the nearest lot and called a tow truck to take me and my vehicle to the dealership I was given a crazy repair charge and i was doing some research and i seen a recall for this issue, however i was advised that my VIN does not have any recalls. This is unsafe and needs to be addressed.
My vehicle was on and I was in motion heading to work when the wheel stopped turning and my car started saying “power steering assist fault”
DRIVER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE STOPPED WORKING. UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IF THERE WAS AN EMERGENCY NEED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I STOPPED TO BUY GAS AND WAS UNABLE TO GET OUT WHEN I TURNED OFF THE CAR.
CAR CONSTANTLY HAVE BRAKES, STEERING, FUEL, AND AIRBAGS PROBLEMS
I WAS DRIVING BACK HOME AND THE 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' MESSAGE CAME UP ON MY DASH. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THAT WAS ABOUT UNTIL AFTER ABOUT 4 MILES WHEN I WAS SUPPOSED TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY BUT THE STEERING JUST WOULDN'T TURN. I IMMEDIATELY FREAKED OUT. I KEPT GOING STRAIGHT FOR A BIT AND I THEN TRIED TO FORCE IT TOWARDS THE RIGHT SHOULDER (THANKS GOODNESS I WAS ON THE RIGHT LANE ALREADY) BUT AS I STARTED TO SLOW DOWN THE CARS BEHIND ME WOULD HONK AND THE PASSAGENS WOULD STARE AT ME WHILE PASSING LIKE IF I WAS TRYING TO MESS WITH THEM ON PURPOSE. THAT WAS SCARY AND EMBARRASSING. TURNED THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON AND PULLED OVER TO CALL A FRIEND WHO KNOWS A BIT ABOUT CARS. I WAS TOLD I WAS OK TO FORCE THE STEERING IN ORDER TO GET HOME, ALTHOUGH I WAS SO...
HELLO, MY NAME IS [XXX]. RECENTLY I BOUGHT A FORD FUISION 2010. I AM PRETTY FAMILIAR WITH CARS SO I UNDERSTAND THE COMMONLY ROUTINE OF TAKING CARE OF A CAR. IT'S BEEN ONLY 30 DAYS. THE FIRST FIRST INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED ON THE PARKWAY MY CAR SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN. I GOT IT TO WORK BACK UP BUT THEN I GOT A MECHANIC TO DO A TUNE UP. EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTH UNTIL I DROVE ABOUT 3,000 MILES INTO THE CAR & IT TOLD TO ME CHECK THE ENGINE OIL AND THE BRAKES. BY THE TIME I WENT TO START MY CAR UP THE LIGHTING SLOWLY FADED AWAY. EVENTUALLY THE CAR SHUT OFF COMPLETELY AND ALMOST ROLLED DOWN THE HILL. I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND PUT ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKES. NOW THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. I REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND EVERYTHING. I'VE BEEN READING ABOUT RECALLS ON...
ADVANCETRAC CAME ON AND ALSO SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW CAME UP STEERING IS NOW HARD I CHECK THE RECALLS ON THIS SITE YESTERDAY WENT TO A FORD DEALER THE SAID THEIR WHERE NO RECALLS I CAME HOME AND REFRESHED THE PAGE AN NOW IT SAYS THAT THEIRS 0 RECALLS.. I AM UNAWARE OF WHAT'S GOING ON... PLEASE GET BACK TO ME THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE I HAVE TO GET TO WORK....STEERING IS HARD N IT'S A HASSLE DRIVE IT
THE RACK AND PINION IS STARTING TO GET HARD AND MAKING NOISE. MY STEERING IS NOT FUNCTIONING AS IT SUPPOSE TO BE. ENGINE IS STARTING TO SHAKE WHILE ON RED LIGHT. MY A/C DOESN'T WORK AND LIGHTS DO NOT WORK FROM THE INSIDE.
MY CAR SAYS CHECK CRUISE CONTROL AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO WRECK WITH MY CHILD IN THE CAR THIS IS A FORD DEFECT AS THE POWER STEERING IS ELECTRICAL.
WHEEL LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET AND "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" ERROR POPPED UP. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE WHEEL AT ALL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND MY YEAR (2010) DOES NOT CURRENTLY HAVE A RECALL, BUT THE LATER YEARS DO FOR SOME REASON. THE 2010 SHOULD ALSO HAVE THE RECALL!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM MESSAGE DISPLAYED WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE BRAKE MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. HALEY FORD RICHMOND LOCATED AT 10724 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, RICHMOND VA 23237 AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 152,000.
I STARTED MY CAR UP AND THE BRAKE , BRAKE LIGHT,ABS,AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND EV DON'T TURN ON,NO BACK UP CAMERA
WHEN DRIVING STEERING INTERMITTENTLY HAS GONE OUT WITH 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' APPEARING ON THE SCREEN, USUALLY RESTARTING THE CAR WOULD FIX IT. NOW GOING TO WORK CAR DIDN'T HAVE POWER STEERING, AFTER RESTARTING ADVANCETRAC CAME ON AS WELL AND NOW POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT IS ON PERMANENTLY
I WAS DRIVING MY 2010 FORD FUSION SE ON A HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO TURN INTO A LOCAL SHOPPING MALL. AN ALERT POPPED UP IN THE DASH THAT SAID SERVICE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD SERVICE COMPANY AND THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED THAT THIS WAS A RECALL ON THE RACK AND PINION/ STEERING GEAR FOR MY CAR MODEL. HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THIS WAS A RECALL AND UNFORTUNATELY A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE I HAD. HOWEVER, I FOUND OUT THAT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL, AND WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS MYSELF. I CALLED THE FORD COMPANY AND EXPLAINED TO THEM THE ISSUE THINKING THAT THEY WOULD SIMPLY ADD MY VEHICLE AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN...
HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT AND ABS SYSTEM FAILURE. FORD RECALLED THE SAME SYSTEMS FOR THEIR 2010 FUSION. WHY IS MY 2010 FORD FUSION NOT INCLUDED??? FORD MUST EXPAND THEIR RECALL.
INTERIOR AC BLOWER MOTOR FAILURE. SAME ISSUE IN A PREVIOUS 2010 FORD FUSION. AIR WOULD FLUCTUATE ON AND OFF AND THEN WILL DIE COMPLETELY. NOTHING FIXES THE ISSUE BESIDES REPLACING BLOWER MOTOR AND RESISTOR.
DTCS U3000:04, U3000:49 AND U2011:49 APPEARED WHILE PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, AND HAS BEEN INTERMITTENT SINCE, CAUSES COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING UNTIL ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING ASSIST AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING AND THE ELECTRONIC STEERING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. ZOELLNER FORD-LINCOLN OF BEATRICE LOCATED AT 4115 NORTH S 6TH ST, BEATRICE, NE 68310, 402-223-2547, WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE.
